It went quite well. As any major project, not everything is cut and dry. Paul was very flexible and creative to accommodate special requests and needs. For example, we needed a floor to wall grab bar next to the toilet, but the only one we could find was too tall. Paul modified it and it is perfect. His staff was very professional and worked with us to make sure everything installed would be how we wanted it and kept us informed as to their progress. They cleaned up and did what they could to keep the dust and dirt to a minimum. I would hire them in a heartbeat for any future remodeling.
Description of Work: Bath tub removed and replaced with a full shower with several grab bars, vented an existing ventilation system to the outside and installed a new bathroom floor.
My Mom and I were completely satisfied with the work performed by Paul Ziemski, Erik (assistant builder and painter) and George (electrician). Anytime I called and left a message, Paul would promptly return the call. You could set your clock by the way Paul and Erik arrived on schedule to start their work each day. We only have one bathroom, so they always made sure the commode was functioning at the end of each work day. Paul and Erik cleaned up the work area every day and seemed concerned about trying to keep the noise level down while operating their tools. The entire job was completed, from demolition to reconstruction, in ten days. We were also pleased with the places Paul sent us to select bathroom fixtures and linoleum. They each had a nice selection of merchandise from which to choose, and the personnel were very friendly and helpful.
Description of Work: The object was to remodel and upgrade our small 1950's era bathroom. This involved removing the sink and commode to be reinstalled after completion of the remodeling work. Plastic tile was removed from the tub area and behind the sink and commode. Floor covering was removed and the damaged sub floor was repaired. A fiberglass tub surround and window trim kit were installed, as well as tub and sink faucets, two grab bars, a shower curtain rod, medicine cabinet, toilet paper holder, and two towel bars. New drywall was installed in the tub area, walls were prepped where plastic tiles had been removed, plywood flooring was installed before new linoleum and vinyl base board were laid down. Three shut-offs, supply lines and "P" traps were installed on the sink. An exhaust fan was installed in the ceiling and vented. Wallpaper was removed from one wall, then the walls and ceiling were primed and painted. A new light fixture was installed above the medicine cabinet and a wall outlet and electrical switches were added. All debris were hauled away after completion of the remodeling job.

It was a pleasure to work with professionals who arrived on time, performed their work as promised and communicated effectively. Paul and his crew were pleasant, low key and responsive to questions and ideas. I was impressed that Paul and his subcontractors met with me several times prior to performing their work and made several useful suggestions as a result of these meetings. Because of the quality of Paul's work, we decided to add on several smaller projects and plan to have him do further work in the house.
Description of Work: In our 1916 house, Paul restored 20 sun porch windows to operating form, repaired other windows, liberated and restored a Philadelphia bead board ceiling which had been hidden under a dropped ceiling and reconfigured a cook top and placed a microwave over over this cook top in our kitchen. He also replaced the top of a lst floor powder room cabinet. In addition, his painters prepped and repainted the first floor, textured 3 ceilings and restored the inside of a beautiful front door.
Excellent work; followed up on things I noted an wanted either changed or touched up. Very clean at the end of each day of work. Very pleasant to work with. Very trustworthy; I was rarely there when they were working, unless there were some issue to resolve before they could go further. The finished product is excellent. Of course in a house of that age I found more things to attend to and they worked those requests into their time there. These were obviously at more expense than original estimate, but that was understood.
Description of Work: Tear out old tub, wash basin, stool, floor, lights, etc. (gutted the bathroom!). Replaced with new floor, complete shower, plumbing, lighting, ventilation/heater fan, positioned a large antique piece made into wash basin, repainted, window treatment. Some of the major plumbing was done by recommended firm; some of electrical work was done by recommended person. No walls were moved in this house approaching 70 years in age. Fixtures and floor tile were selected at firms he also recommended (exhausting processes but individuals were very helpful at both locations).
The project went very well. Paul and Eric are very professional and children friendly. Eric and Paul were patience when items had to be removed or adjusted. They cleaned up at the end of each day. Paul and Eric worked with our schedules. They referred us to reputable companies for our bathroom fixtures. I must thank Christina from Babin Cabinets and Barbara from Welker/Kohler for their assistance. Thank you Paul, Eric, Steve and George for our beautiful bathroom.
Description of Work: Remodel bathroom. Paul and Eric repaired the sub floor and walls. Replaced toilet, medicine cabinet, vanity and sink. They installed cement board on tub walls and floor. Tile was installed on floor, tub walls and as a backsplash around vanity. Paul and Eric added soap and additional holders in tub area. New shower head was replaced. The old tub was reglazed. Eric primed and painted our walls. He gave us recommendations on colors that would complement our bathroom. He gave additional information on lighting and the maintenance of our tile. He also sealed our tiles. Exhaust fan and bead board were installed. Two additional switches and GFI were installed. They also installed lights above medicine cabinet. A marble threshhold and granite top was also replaced.

Went well. I had originally intended to do the painting myself in order to save money. I'm glad I decided to have Pride Remodeling do it instead.
Description of Work: Painted bathroom walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Not really sure about the cost since it was part of a larger remodeling job, and we supplied the paint.

The biggest problem in the old bathroom was that the "shower" pipe was connected to the tub faucet, and the "shower walls" were a shower curtain hung all the way around an elliptical hoop, which itself was hung from the ceiling. Previous owners had "modernized" this way because a wide 2-pane bathroom window prevented a shower wall being built straight up from the faucet-end of the old bathtub to the ceiling. Paul Ziemski has a great talent for problem-solving, which he showed us when he remodeled our kitchen the previous summer. He replaced the old window with a smaller window, took similarly-weathered vinyl siding from the back of our garage for the front of our house around the new bathroom window where siding was now needed, and found an excellent siding match for the back of the garage. Looking at the front of our house, you would never know that we replaced a bigger window with a smaller window 14 years after we had it sided. We now have a beautiful and efficient bathroom.
Description of Work: Remodeled 7' x 6.5' bathroom. Replaced bathtub and shower at least 40 years old. Built new wall for shower and built shelves to the side of the new shower wall. Replaced bathroom sink. Replaced medicine cabinet. Replaced 2 sconces on each side old medicine cabinet, which each needed to be turned on and off manually, with fixture above new medicine cabinet with switch. Installed electrical outlet, which the bathroom had never had--house was built in 1920. Removed old ceramic tile half-way up walls. Painted walls and ceiling. Installed exhaust fan, which we had never had. This included installing duct work behind an attic closet, and so installing a small door on the back wall of the closet to the crawl space. Re-routed duct work for heat. Removed old ceramic tile floor and installed new linoleum floor.
Our experience with Pride Remodeling was a pleasure from start to finish. Paul returned our calls promptly and addressed all of our questions and concerns. Paul and Erik arrived every day when expected at 8:00 a.m., worked late when necessary, and cleaned up the area every day before they left. We looked forward to their progress every day and had fun with them while they worked. They offered helpful advice with paint and trim colors. This company went above and beyond with custom painting on pantry doors, floor/stair trim, and helped out with "extras" at no extra cost. By the time the job was completed, we felt that they were part of our extended family. We definitely will use them for future projects and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Paul and Erik removed wallpaper and a border from my kitchen, primed and painted the walls, trim, pantry and cupboard doors, and remodeled the rest of the kitchen, including countertops, tile, flooring, lighting, etc.

They always got back to me right away. They took the time to make suggestion on things they thought would make the project better. They cleaned up incredibly well once the job was completed. Between stages of the job they made sure not to leave a mess at the end of each day.
Description of Work: They replaced outside wood that covered none existent windows with a wood frame to make it look like it was originally part of the house. They also installed an exterior door entering to our garage and a patio door.

We couldn't have been more pleased. Paul is the most professional contractor we have ever had the pleasure of working with. They cleaned up after themselves everyday, and were always punctual. We had two quotes prior to Prides and they were not the cheapest. After talking and meeting with Paul my wife and I decided that price was not the deciding factor quality was. The quality and overall experience was TOP NOTCH!

Great - we were pleased to find someone who knew how to fix our stairs, as they appeared to have been done in an unconventional manner originally and we didn't want to have to pull the whole stairway down if we could prevent that. Paul came up with a novel idea that allowed us to avoid that. He was very patient and explained everything to me in layman's terms. Paul also consulted with us on raising the ceiling on a landing.
Description of Work: Fixed squeaky stairs in our historical house.
Everything went well, the whole process took only 3 weeks. Paul was very easy to work with and cared about doing a good job. He always showed up when he said he would and did exactly what he said he would. There were no problems.
Description of Work: Before hiring Paul, I had contacted 2 different companies to look at my 1950's kitchen and give me what I wanted in a design without loosing a window. Paul was able to do that for me and created a beautiful kitchen in less that 3 weeks time. Since my kitchen was so old, all the electrical had to be replaced, we had a leek from the bathroom above that Paul took care of, much drywalling had to be done, new cupboards, new floor, new countertop and painting. He also carried away the trash.

Our experience with Pride Remodeling was a pleasure from start to finish. Paul returned our calls promptly and addressed all our questions and concerns. Paul and Erik arrived every day when expected at 8:00 am, worked late when needed, and cleaned up the area every day before they left. We looked forward to their progress every day and had fun with them while they worked. Every part of this remodel was performed efficiently and professionally. They offered helpful advice (when asked) with paint colors and trim. George, the electrician they work with, was equally as professional, flexible, and enjoyable. This company went "above and beyond" with custom painting on pantry doors, floor/stair trim, and helped out with "extras" at no extra cost. Description of Work: Paul and Erik removed wallpaper, primed and painted walls and trim, removed and replaced tile back splash, removed old counter tops for installation of granite, installed new cook top, oven, sink, faucet, bathroom sink and faucet, removed and replaced wall exhaust fan, installed hardwood floor in kitchen w/trim, replaced cabinet hinges and knobs, and updated lighting in kitchen and dining room.

They came in and laid Plastic Wrap on all the areas they would be traveling to protect my carpet and floors. Took out the existing wall where they were going to enlarge and rebuilt a new wall. Put up plaster board and took off paper that was on other walls and skim coated everything. Put in a cabinet base and a cultured marble top and sink. Rebuilt a closet with new shelving, put in a pocket door which they had stained, reframed the doorways. Sanded, taped, primed and painted walls and woodwork in bathroom and dining area where the enlargement was made. Took out the existing floor, skim coated it so as to not bleed through the new flooring they put down. Each day that they were here, they cleaned the whole area of dust and debris. Never had to do any myself. They were very personable and kind at all times. Were on time and kept in touch about any needs I might have had. Paul coordinated with the plumber and electrician as to when the next step was needed. It was done well.
Description of Work: Enlarging an existing bathroom. They did all the carpentry, painting, some plumbing and flooring. Paul did a design to show me exactly what he would be doing it and suggested better way of achieving my goal. I needed a handicap bathroom which works very well for me.

We are so pleased with our new kitchen that we are having Pride Remodeling remodel our bathroom this Fall. Paul Ziemski and his co-worker, Erik, and his sub-contractors (George of CMR Property Services, Inc. who did the electrical work and Jack Churlik who did the floor) were easy and even fun to work with. Paul did much of the work himself and proved to be quite creative at solving unforeseen problems, the biggest of which was the need for a soffit when the house's balloon frame was discovered. We were also pleased with the suppliers Paul steered us to--Babin Building Solutions, Welker McKee, Broadview Flooring, and Interstate Kitchen Supply. Clean-up was always excellent. Paul and all the workers were always very considerate, the best example of which was getting the debris out of our driveway and putting up a temporary counter in time for the arrival of out-of-town guests. We trusted Paul, Erik, and George to work when we were not home.
Description of Work: Kitchen was remodeled. Old cabinets, countertop, sink, and garbage disposal were removed, and new cabinets, countertop, sink, and disposal were installed. New microwave was installed above stove. New linoleum floor was put in. Two old windows were replaced with new vinyl windows. Although old appliances were kept, dishwasher, gas stove, and refrigerator were relocated. Fairly extensive electrical work was done. Receptacles for dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator, stove, and microwave were installed. Seven countertop receptacles were installed. Above-sink and 4 under-cabinet lights were installed. 1 exterior GFCI receptacle was installed. New G.E. 100-amp 20-space service panel, backerboard, ground, service riser, meter base, and conductors were installed. Sink drain drop to basement floor was re-done. Landing between kitchen and basement was strengthened. All permits were obtained.

We had a very bad experience with Pride. We worked with both Paul and Eric. Although they are both nice guys and they do good work (they did my brother's kitchen) we were very disappointed with our experience. The first quote was itemized, which we appreciated, but when we tried to take items out of the quote to lower the price, the price wouldn't go down. When we asked Eric why, he said that Paul didn't like to itemize quotes. This led us to believe that Pride was not being honest with us about the estimated cost of work. In addition, it took us 8 months to figure this out because they would go days and weeks without returning our calls. During the 8 months, I sent at least 2 separate ''I guess you don't want our business because you haven't returned our calls'' messages. After we finally decided to stop working with them, we found Discover Recover who did everything good that Pride did bad. Discover Recover did our kitchen and did an awesome job for a fraction of the cost.
Description of Work: No work performed because we could not get the price down to a reasonable amount. The initial quote was $37,000 for a medium-sized kitchen (cabinets, counters, floors, etc.). After seeing the initial quote, knowing it was way over our budget, we started taking things away from the estimate. We took out almost $20,000 worth of work yet the price only came down $5,000. The lowest estimate they would give us was $32,000 after we took out the floors, new appliances, build-in coat cabinets, etc. We even choose a lower quality cabinet line. Everything we took out of the first quote came to almost $20,000, yet they would not lower the estimate accordingly. After 8 months of haggling, we finally decided to get other quotes. We got 3 other quotes, all which were lower than Pride's. In addition, we ended up going with Discover Recover and paid less than we would have for great work and all the extras added back in. We even got all new appliances!

PRIDE REMODELING IS RATHER UPSET WITH HOMEOWNER/MEMBER AND ANGIE'S LIST TO EVEN SUBMIT OR PRINT THIS REPORT. WE HAVE BEEN REMODELING FOR OVER 32YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD REPORT. WHEN THIS MEMBER SAID WE DID EVERYTHING WRONG THAT THIS COMPANY DID RIGHT I FIND IT FALSE. IT IS PUBLIC RECORD WITH THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT THAT PERMITS WERE NOT EVEN OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OR HAVE BEEN REGISTERED WITH THE CITY FOR A FEW YEARS. I USE ONLY QUALIFIED PLUMBERS AND ELECTRICIANS WHO ARE ALSO STATE CERTIFIED AS REQUIRED BY THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT. AS WITH THE ESTIMATES ERIK WHO IS A CERTIFIED INTERIOR DESIGNER AND NEW WITH ESTIMATING AS TOLD TO MEMBER WHEN QUOTING JOB MADE SEVERAL CHANGES. WHEN ERIK DEDUCTED, HE DEDUCTED ITEMS THAT TIED INTO OTHER ITEMS MAKING ESTIMATE ALL WRONG. I MADE ANOTHER TRIP TO RE-ESTIMATE AND TOLD MEMBER THAT THIS WOULD BE FINAL QUOTE. I CALLED HER WITH NEW QUOTE SHE SAID IT STILL WAS NOT IN HER BUDGET SO PRIDE HAD NO REASON TO SEND OUT A NEW ITEMIZED QUOTE. FURTHER MORE PRIDE REMODELING RESPONDED TO MEMBER WITHIN 24-48 HOURS OF EACH TIME CALLED. AS RESPECT TO QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP SHE EVEN STATED THAT I DID HER BROTHER'S KITCHEN AND ALSO CUSTOM SUN ROOM WHO ALSO SENT AN "A" RATING TO ANGIE'S LIST. ANY ONE KNOWS A LOW PRICE IS NOT ALWAYS THE RIGHT CHOICE. IN FINISH I GUESS PRIDE REMODELING DID EVERYTHING RIGHT.
