Fabulous Floors Cleveland

The flooring refinishing itself was fair. I asked for light brown stain and my floors are dark. I was told that there would be some touch ups "here and there" to do on my baseboards and quarter round. I had to clean and repaint all of my baseboards and had to remove the quarter round, paint the new quarter round and have it replaced at my own expense. There was also stain on my walls which were also freshly painted. The cleaner (Zep) they told me to use not only removed the stain on my walls but the paint as well. I had to not only buy quarter round, paint for the quarter round, and installation for the quarter round but had to buy 2 other colors of paint to cover the stain on the walls. This was not only a lot of time but also a huge added expense. When I left a message for the owner of the company he had his employee call me and never called me himself. The owner came out on day 1 and then we never saw him again. He did not come out to see the finished work. The dust that was caused by the process was unbelievable. I had to clean every surface of my home when they were done. They did not make any effort to contain the dust or protect my baseboards. To add to it all I just had my bathroom remodeled just prior to having the floors done and they got stain on my new white bathroom floor which thankfully did come out. This company was recommended to me by a friend and after telling her about my experience she was amazed as this is not at all the experience she had. Overall a very disappointing experience after waiting years to have this done. -Amy

I cannot believe how beautiful the floors in our home turned out!
Brian came out to quote and was patient while I obtained quotes from others.  He didn't hound me for an answer, which I greatly appreciated. When it was all said and done, we thought the price was good, so we chose Fabulous Floors Cleveland.
Robert and his crew were there as scheduled.  They were working with floors that were old and not taken care of properly, but that did not deter them from a great work product.  They even split the process over a two week period as we still had to live at the house.  Very accommodating (as arranged with Brian before the project started). They cleaned up after each step, and were very good at explaining the process, answering any questions we had. 
I will definitely be using Fabulous Floors Cleveland in the future.  I wish I did not wait so long to do so now, as the floors are really just beautiful!

When the owner? came to the house to give the estimate (Which was fair) I felt like he didn't want to be there, like it was a bother. When the men came to do the job they forgot something at another job, went back for it and didn't return for hours. They said they ended up doing some work at this location but we never heard from them on where they were. we were told a razor cut would be covered and nails would be covered. we still have the razor mark and they only covered some nails. We also have mop marks from the sealer. we never noticed this because of course you couldn't walk on it yet.

The company was very responsive when we contacted them and answered all our questions.  They walked us through the process, both on the phone, as well as when they showed up to perform the work.  They were on time and completed the work in the provided timeframe.  The floors were sanded to the bare wood and then stained with a color of our choice.  They then added a polyurethane coat on the next two days and sanded in between.  We are very happy with the work and would hire them again.

They look good so far.  They were prompt.

They were extremely responsive, punctual and communicative.  From the quote to the start of work was only a few days, and the crews were always perfectly on-time.  The initial crew did a great job on the living room floor, but offered a partial refund after finding the second floor to be too damaged for refinishing.  I expressed my preference to a supervisor to have the floor done and original quote honored, even if the results would not be as good as the first floor.  Fabulous Floors honored their original quote and returned with a second, more experienced crew to make sure that I was completely satisfied with their work.  Both floors turned out looking beautiful.  Based on their responsiveness and serious concern that I was happy with their work, I'd use them again.

The floor team worked very well together.  It was obvious that they liked and respected each other.  They were experienced, knowledgable, and patient with our various questions and concerns.  We recommend Fabulous Floors to others and we will use them again to refinish floors in another home in the future.

I contacted Fabulous Floors Cleveland on 11/4/13 to quote on removing carpeting and refinishing the wood floors beneath the carpeting.  I had used this company in the past (before I was a member of Angies List) to refinish the floor in a small bedroom.  They did such a great job on the bedroom previously, that I called them to quote on a larger job of refinishing my first floor family room, living room and dining room.
An appointment was made for 11/11 and Brian arrived on time.  Brian reviewed the area to be worked on making notes of possible problems (stains), asked detailed questions about finish colors and appearance, and when the job would need to be completed.  Brian also went into great detail on how to prepare the area before work could begin and the approximate time necessary to complete the job.  Brian also noted what I would need to do to maintain the finish after the job was completed.  Brian provided a quote which I felt was very reasonable for the work and the area to be addressed.  I accepted his quote and scheduled work to start on the following Monday.
The job was started on 11/18 (Monday) and scheduled to be completed within a week.  I had hoped to have all work completed before Thanksgiving.  The guys arrived as scheduled and work began by removing the carpeting and tack strips.  They then plasticed off the area to contain the dust and prevent the spread to other areas of the house.  After this they began the sanding paying particular attention to one area that appeared to have been stained or discolored.  The spot was removed by the sanding. 
After the sanding was completed (and all dust and dirt removed), the stain was applied.  I had selected a nice dark rich color.  After the staining was complete, three coats of polyurethane were applied.  The guys made sure that each coat was completely dry before applying subsequent coats. After the job was complete, the guys cleaned up and removed the plastic. 
The entire job was completed in 4 days (by 11/21) and I was extremely happy with the results.  Brian stopped by on 11/22 to inspect the work and ask if I was satisfied with the job.  
The job was finished within the time frame I specified and I was very satisfied with the appearance of my floors.  I would not hesitate to use Fabulous Floors Cleveland again and will recommend them to my family and friends.

This was my daughters 100 year old house.  The job was done at 2 separate times over the course of 2-3 weeks.   Jose and his crew did this job.  Getting them to commit to a time was difficult since they seem to be working on a tight schedule and seem to be working all over the Cleveland area.  Sometimes they would not come until very late in the day,  but they did come and do the work , even on a Sunday morning so the job could be completed over a weekend.    There were some problems with bubbles in one small area in the living room.  Jose came and corrected the problem by sanding and refinished that area.  I was happy with Jose and he tried working with us to get the job done with the least inconvenience possible.

Refinished my cherry floors in the kitchen, dining area and hall.  It took three days with the sanding and the 3 applications of polyurethane. The work was done by David.  We were not happy with the results due to bubbles, wipe marks from the finishing pad, dog hairs, and debris in the final coat. Yes, we have a dog but she was isolated during the whole process. We called with our complaint and they responded by "buffing" the complete area again to get rid of the areas of concern and applying another coat of polyurethane.  There are still dog hairs and other debris along with a gritty feeling over the whole floor.  I contacted Brian over 3 weeks ago and he returned my call promptly stating that David would be in touch. We discussed that I am not happy with the completed job, but cannot have the bottom floor of my home tied up again due to my 98 year old mother who has her bedroom and bathroom on the bottom floor. When getting the floors redone she was unable to occupy  her room or the bathroom and she had to stay outside of our home during this whole process.  We discussed the problem with the inconvenience to my mother and also discussed a partial refund because the scratches are gone from the floors, but now there is a gritty feel to the floors along with the dog hairs and debris in the finish.  I have yet to hear from David and have had no follow up call from Brian.  Three days ago I called and left a message that, at this point, I would be happy with a partial refund.

My daughters floors were done at the same time.  Jose and his crew worked on her floors and we are happy with the results.  There is a separate review for this.

great work and great service

First they had to postpone a day, therefore they had to use water based finished instead of oil based.  On the final day the floors felt unfinished and not at all shiny. We have had our floors in our old house which looked wonderful so we know what wood floors finished with oil base should look like. I feel like they were sanded but never finished correctly even though my husband saw then apply the finish.  Would definately not use them again.

Contacted the company through their website and received a response the same day (on a weekend, no less!) Explained the urgency of having the small bedroom floor refinished quickly as my husband and I were doing a surprise makeover for our son. Brian was able to get the job done in time and under our budget. Jose and his crew did a great job!!! They arrived on time and were able to match the floor stain to the existing hardwood throughout the house. This whole process was done over a course of 5 days, including a weekend. The finished product was more than my husband and I could have hoped for, especially since the floors are pine and original to our 1920s home. I would recommend this company, without hesitation, to others.

The process was a learning one for us that might, just  might, have gone better/differently.     
 The first thing that didn't go so well, was after the first sanding, it was evident that stains in the wood from animal urine from many years before were such that we did not want to cover the stains with the finish.  We stopped the process and had quite a few board replaced.   The men from Fablulous floor did give us the name of the man who was able to come out right away.  In retrospect it would have been helpful to the company to advise us to do replace the floors.   Did they not do that because the job of replacing the floors was almost as much as the original quote, and that would have reduced the chance of their getting the job.   In the end we paid for the replacing the wood and paying for the resanding, a nearly $400 charge.   
Were advised to remove any nails that were in the floor because they would tear up the sanding equipment.   I knew of two nails that were in the wood, left by the crew that installed the wood some 25 years previously.    It is apparent they found other nails but did not remove them, instead sanded over them and finished over the steel that remained.   Not a big thing but a result of being pressured to work too fast, not taking time to extract the nails and filling the hole, time consuming of course.    And then there were two relatively small (2 - 3 inch ovals) spots in two boards that did not take the finish due to some defect in the wood.  
Another learning was finish on the wood is different from the original finish.   Originally the floor was installed and before being finished the grain in the oak floor was filled and scrapped before final sanding and finish.   This time the oak was not filled before sanding.   This resulted in the grain in the floor stands out and while it is not unattractive is very different from the previous finish. 
We were given some advice about care of the finish but only after we asked.   We wonder if we had talked about the whole process before, including whether to replace wood, would have made a difference.    By the way the importance of the floor appearance was increasing because we are moving from using area rugs almost entirely.   Previously we used several medium to large area rugs in the two rooms.   We intend to do this in the other parts of the house that now have carpeting or area rugs.   It appears that Fabulous Floors is franchise.   Do they not have a manual for prospective customers with advice?
 
The men were very curteous and hard working.   We were initially amazed because of the contrast from before.   Be we remain essentially satisfied,

Highly recommend these folks. They were professional, pleasant, on time, did a great job, cleaned up afterwards, our floor looks new. I plan to use them again for two other rooms!

Overall great experience.  The crew did an amazing job in refinishing the hardwood floors of my 1922 Lakewood home.  I was happy that the floors we in good enough shape to keep a natural finish which makes the home feel more spacious and airy.  I would highly recommend Fabulous Floors to my friends and family.

We were very happy with how our floors turned out given the condition they were in.  We never have had hardwood floors and are so glad that we went ahead with our decision.
