+ -1 moreI was contacted today by Hook Home Maintenance. The owner said he did not get my messages, and offered to look for a replacement part. I appreciate him trying to fix this older window. Not sure the reason for the miscommunication, but was glad to receive a phone call from Randy.
Description of Work: They did some work for me. They built some wood steps going into my garage and the steps are very study. They caulked my counter tops, as well.

+ 0 moreThey did excellent. They were on time, actually about 5min early. They were very professional and were very clean, they cleaned up everything nicely afterwards..... You couldn't even tell they had been here. They also put the numbers on the mailbox for us. We would absolutely recommend them to anybody. They stayed right on the budget.

+ 0 moreRandy Hook returned my call within a couple hours after I left a message. He came that same day to look over the job and give an estimate. Work was started and completed within a week. The handy man arrived on time. He carefully removed the tile and grout around the tile. He reglued the tiles and regrouted around same tiles. The job was finished the same day.
Description of Work: We needed grout repaired around 5 ceramic tiles on our bathroom floor. It was determined that the tiles were not glued down sufficiently. The 5 tiles were removed intact, all loose grout removed, the tiles reinstalled, and regrouted.

I contacted them for a quote, it seemed fair (we didn't get any other estimates), and they said they would take care of it that week when they were in the area. They actually emailed us when they were at our house doing the cleaning. They then emailed us an itemized invoice within a week and we mailed them the check. Perfectly simple, and we are pleased with the work. We will continue to use them in the future.

I like the fact that he offers a wide range of services as I prefer and quot;one-stop shoppingand quot; with a professional contractor who I can trust and depend upon, and one who offers fair pricing for quality work.
Description of Work: It was a little rough getting started as the communication between us somehow got lost in the electronic era. But once we were in agreement of the job to be completed it went smoother. The original quote did not include all items Randy and I had originally discussed when he came to our house to inspect the work needing to be completed so Randy had to recalculate his quote. We had obtained four quotes for the work and his quote was in the middle. Randy was prompt, courteous and professional so we hired him to do our work. As I had requested he provided me with a Certificate of Liability Insurance & Workers Comp. Our deck steps are made of brick pavers with wood framing around the edge of the steps. The bricks began to cave in as the dirt underneath washed away over the years. We had a few deck boards that needed replacing and the entire deck needed to be painted. Randy provided suggestions for making the deck look the best it could as it had been weather-beaten over the years. We used a deck paint in lieu of a stain so it would cover the rough boards better. We are glad we accepted his recommendation on the paint. My only regret is that the deck needed a second coat but they were done and gone before we could make the decision to pay extra for the second coat. They did an excellent job on rebuilding the bricks as they had to pull out each brick (and there are a lot) add new backfill/gravel and replace each brick so they fit snuggly back into the step framing. They replaced the boards that I had marked, sanded a few areas and painted the entire deck. They left the old boards in the backyard on a pile of tree branches instead of hauling them away. It would have been nicer if they had hauled them away. Randy and his worker(s) were first delayed due to heavy rains for a few days and then they had to work in extreme heat. We had no problem with the timing as we understood they had to work around the weather.

+ 1 moreRandy Hook came out to quote us on a couple of jobs we were thinking about having done around the house. He was on time (I think he even called to see if he could come over a bit early), very professional, took his time checking out each job and gave us a price for each one. The following week he followed up to see if we were still interested. We hired him for one of the jobs, putting the fan in the bathroom. Randy and Dan showed up right on time, they completed the job in under an hour, cleaned up and were on their way. As a stay at home mom, I don't always feel comfortable with some workers that come to our home. But that wasn't the case today. Randy and Dan were very polite and respectful. I felt completely at ease. It was also nice that they didn't smell of smoke, as some workers do that we've had in our home. I recommend them very, very highly! We have found our "go to" handymen! We will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: I had installed a vent in the ceiling and whoever did that did not do it properly and it had caused the ceiling damage in the shower stall. They repaired the ceiling and they correctly the vent and this made a huge difference. I also had them assemble 3 sets of bookcases that I purchased. They charge an hourly rate of $35 per person.
