Description of Work: I bought the Big Deal to tune up my garage. They promptly called after I signed up and set up the appointment. The technician was on time and explained everything he did. He did the tune up and reset both of my remotes.

+ -1 moreThe experience was ok. I felt that they didn’t do as much as I thought they would. He just checked and oiled the rollers. I think he did suggest some repairs for one of the doors but it was an additional cost that I wasn’t ready for at that time.

+ -1 moreCalled about 4 days ahead of time to schedule the appointment for my day off. The company gave me a timeframe (12-5) during which the technician would call prior to arrival. I ended up being at the end of the day, so had to wait around all afternoon for the call, but that was okay. Someone has to be the last call fo the day. I felt the price was fair, as I had checked Angie's List prior to get an estimate of the costs to expect. The service call alone was $70; the remainder were parts and tax. I was pleased with their efficiency, professionalism, and pleasant demeanor (especially at the end of a long workweek).
Description of Work: They replaced a rusted-through cable on a 9x7 garage door; adjusted and lubricated door in about a half hour from arrival to departure time.

Description of Work: Action Door was one of [3] garage door companies I called for replacement of 2 garage doors and installation of new door opener.They were $200.00 higher than the lowest door comp. bid. The reason I did not go with the lowest bid ,they wanted to put the torsion spring in the middle of my garage ceiling because they said I had low headroom clearance and the spring would not fit. The Tech. from Action Door said they they had a low clearance torsion spring that would fit over the door ,so I went with them. TheTech. arrived about 8:30 am on 6/15/12 unloaded all the hardware,track ,door opener and neatly laid out everything on the floor of the garage.The Tech made quick work of disassembling the old doors and track and quick work of installing the new track and doors. He did not ask for help in installing the door closer ,which is a 2 -man job, I offered and he said yes. The last thing he did was install the outsideweatherstripping ,lubed the opener chain and carriage, and lubed the door hinges and rollers. The very last thing he did was ,I offered the use of my Shopvac, He vacuumed up all the debris inside and outside. I am very happy with how my doors work and look.Thank You Action Door.

+ -1 moreThe capacitor on my Genie opener blew out on Thursday night. On Friday morning, I called the company that installed the Genie opener for me several years ago. The person who answered was a little impatient and seemed to be in a great hurry, and told me that they couldn't send someone out until Monday. I called Action Door after that. The person who answered was polite and cheerful and told me that they could have someone out by the afternoon. About 90 minutes later, I was told that someone was on the way. The technician worked very fast and was very polite and efficient. He had the capacitor replaced in 10 minutes, replaced the limit switch which was also bad and greased the chain to reduce the noise. I will call Action in future for any garage door problems. I was very satisfied.
Description of Work: The capacitor on my Genie opener blew out. The capacitor was replaced, limit switch was replaced and the operator was greased.

+ -1 moreI contacted Action Door when my garage door suddenly stopped working. The motor was still running but the door wouldn't close. They said they could come out that afternoon. The technician came as promised and immediately determined the cause of the problem. Luckily he had the part needed and not only replaced the broken part, he also inspected the rest of the opener to make sure there were no other issues. The whole visit was probably less than 30 minutes. The technician was very professional and polite.
Description of Work: Determined why the garage door wasn't workin and fixed it.

+ 0 moreThe original springs in my folding attic stairs were old and fatigued and the stairs would not close all the way. The stairs were manufactured by a company that is no longer in business and commercially available replacement springs were not suitable. All I had to do was deliver one of the original springs to Action Door in Stow. They measured the spring and contacted a spring manufacturer in Toledo. The custom springs were ready to pick up in about three days. The cost for the two springs was only twice the cost of commercial replacement springs. And by replacing the springs, I was able to avoid replacing the stairs. Though attic stairs are not their regular business, a good spring is a good spring, and I'm grateful to Action Door for helping me out.

+ -1 moreThe main spring on our garage door broke when my husband arrived home from work on a Friday night, trapping both of our vehicles in the garage. We anticipated a major repair bill and a weekend trapped in the house. We called Action Door and two other companies and left messages with their services. Action returned the call at 8:00 Saturday and had a repairman out by 10:30. He was pleasant and efficient and had the spring and cables replaced in less than 90 minutes - for about $130. We never received a call from the other two companies.

+ -1 morei called Action Door to schedule a service call when my garsge door broke. I called late in the day on Monday. They said they could be out the next morning. They gave me a 4 hour window and called when they were about 15 minutes away. The repair man was punctual, courteous and informative. He repaired the broken hinge and recommended replacing three others that were bent and ready to break. He inspected the garage door and even gave me some tips on simple maintenance I could do on my own.
Description of Work: Had Action Door replace 1 broken and 3 bent hinges on our garage door.

+ -1 moreIt went well. We were somewhat concerned that we bought an old home with the original garage doors and no openers. I had a guy come out from Action Door to take a look and get me a quote. He said that while they were older and they had some challenges, it would be possible to install the openers. I scheduled the service and they came out when they said they would. I wasn't able to be present during the installation that day, and when I checked at the end of the day the openers weren't yet installed and they left a note about needing to install an additional wood brace due to the old construction of the garage. I called to schedule another service call, and the manager assurred me there would be no additonal charge for this work, and they came out the next day to finish. The garage doors work great and we are very happy with the results.

He was very honest because he told me I could wait on one of my repairs and he could have very easily told me it needed replaced and made more money off me. He went out of his way to answer questions and didn't charge any extra. He came when he said he would and I would use him again.

+ -1 moreI bought one of Angie’s List’s promotions. He charged me $69 for the garage door tune up. Because it was a promotion, the price was cheap. He did a nice job of oiling the garage door. He said he adjusted a few things. He was very nice and very competent. I couldn’t recommend him to install a door because he didn’t do that for me. It is hard to judge their work by that, but what he did do was nice.

+ -1 moreJake, from Action Door, arrived early, was friendly, and provided quite a bit of detail on the Wayne Dalton doors that they offer as well as on the Liftmaster openers. The size of our garage door would have required a special order, adding two additional weeks to the time frame for installation (i.e, about a 3 week wait in total). Jake gave me a very good impression of this company, and I'd certainly consider them for future work (but we selected another company based on price, scheduling, and environmental information on the type of insulation used in the door).
Description of Work: Action Door provided an estimate for a new garage door (Wayne Dalton, insulated w/interior and exterior steel skins for a 16x6'8" door; $1071) and garge door opener (Liftmaster w/belt drive, 2 remotes and keypad; $425) for our home.
