Dan’s Clock Repair

Work was performed as promised and the clock was available for pickup within 48 hours of when I dropped it off. I'm VERY satisfied.

It took him a long time to repair the clock. He did not return my phone calls when I tried to contact him. He is a pleasant person to speak with, however I feel that he could use better organizational skills.

My wall clock stopped working. I brought it to This Olde Clock and he fixed it on the spot. I only had to wait 10-15 minutes and it has a new internal working component. It works great.

Servicing went very well. Dan is a bit hard to get hold of but he's always a pleasure to work with. He didn't return my phone call to set up the appointment but called me back after a second call. Dan is very knowledgeable about clocks and will go out of his way to provide affordable repairs.

Dan was punctual, professional, and very nice. Since I do not know anything about clocks (I had just inherited this one), Dan explained in detail how the clock worked, proper ways to care for it, and things to avoid. He also welcomed my many questions about the clock and was forthcoming with helpful information. I appreciated him explaining the rationale for the care as well as showing me specifically on and inside the clock how things should work. When he was finished with his work, he checked more than once to make sure everything was working properly.

Thinking my clock was wound too tightly, I took it to Dan for his evaluation. Quite affably, Dan told me and showed me that the clock merely needed to be wound in the counter-clockwise direction. (Silly me!) He also showed me how to advance the chime when it was incorrect, as well as how to regulate the hour and minutes, without damaging the clock. I felt reunited with an old friend. Part of my delight had to do with the way Dan discounted my mistake, saying it happened more often than I might imagine. My clock and I went home and rather than feeling embarrassed, I felt only happy. I completely forgot to ask Dan what I owed him for his time, and he made no mention of my oversight.

Dan fixed it without charge since he had fixed it before even though it was more of a wear issue. I had it back in a week. Dan's great.

Dan did a FANTASTIC job servicing my clock for a very reasonable price. He explained to me the mechanisms of the clock - how to best take care of it myself in between servicing. What a professional, nice guy. He also fixed something that I'm not sure that too many other people can fix without taking back to their shop. Definitely honest!

A wonderful experience; absolutely no negatives. Dan Grumbling is great to work with, very courteous and very knowledgeable. He did a great job of informing me of (and showing me) what the problem was, what caused it, and how the repair would be made. He also provided other information about the history of the clock, its value, previous work done, etc. I would highly recommend him.

WOW! The owner, Dan Grumbling, was GREAT! The SAME day I called, he came to my house and spent over an hour going over, cleaning and explaining to me how the clock worked. He was very knowledgeable and extremely personable. He told me how to have it serviced and how to save money when it would need worked on again. I highly recommend this business to anyone who needs clock repair! He was very reasonably priced, as well. I just can't say enough good things about Dan and his business!

THIS IS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK WITH. WHILE HE MIGHT NOT BE THE FASTEST AT GETTING WORK DONE, IT DOES GET DONE AND HE STANDS BEHIND EVERYTHING HE DOES.

THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE. THE CLOCKS HAVE BEEN WORKING FLAWLESSLY SINCE THEIR RETURN. DAN ALSO RECOMMENDED A FAUX-FACE APPLIQUE FOR THE KITCHEN CLOCK TO REPLACE THE NON-ORIGINAL FACE TO IMPROVE THE AUTHENTICITY OF ITS APPEARANCE.

MR. GRUMBLING ARRIVED ON TIME AND WASTED NO TIME AT ALL GETTING TO WORK. HE TOOK PLENTY OF TIME ANSWERING ALL MY QUESTIONS WITH COMPLETE AND INFORMATIVE ANSWERS. HE EXPLAINED WHAT HE WAS DOING, AND WHAT I WOULD HAVE TO DO TO KEEP THE CLOCK RUNNING SMOOTHLY. THIS WAS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST SERVICE CALLS WE HAVE HAD IN OUR YEARS OF REPAIRS OF ALL TYPES. IT WAS REFRESHING TO BE SPOKEN TO AND NOT GRUNTED AT, AS SO OFTEN HAPPENS. WE ALMOST DIDN'T SELECT ''THIS OLDE CLOCK'' BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SUPER SERVICE AWARD... DAN WENT FAR BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS AND TRULY DESERVES THE AWARD. NEEDLESS TO SAY, OUR CLOCK RUNS GREAT AND SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL!

DAN GRUMBLING CHECKED THE CLOCK THOROUGHLY, MADE SURE IT WAS SUFFICIENTLY OILED, AND GOT THE MOVEMENT GOING AGAIN. BECAUSE HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING THAT REALLY NEEDED REPAIRING, HE DIDN'T CHARGE ME. THEN HE REDRILLED THE HOLE IN THE WALL MOUNT SO THAT IT WOULD BE EASIER TO USE. WHEN I TOLD HIM ABOUT MY FATHER'S GRANDFATHER CLOCK, HE GOT ME THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF A COMPANY THAT COULD SUPPLY A NEW MOTOR. HE CAREFULLY PACKED TOWELING AROUND THE PENDULUM OF MY CLOCK FOR A SAFE TRIP HOME. I WILL ALWAYS CALL HIM FOR WORK ON MY CLOCKS, AND I WILL RECOMMEND HIM TO MY FRIENDS.

DAN ARRIVED PROMPTLY, WAS VERY PERSONABLE, AND PROVED TO BE EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE IMMEDIATELY FOUND AND CORRECTED THE REASON THE CLOCK WASN'T RUNNING AND THEN, WHILE HE DID THE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, HE EXPLAINED ALL ABOUT HOW THE CLOCK WORKS. HE IS A VERY NICE GUY, AS WELL AS, AN EXPERT IN GRANDFATHER CLOCKS!

NOW THERE'S NO CORD HANGING DOWN THE WALL AND THE CLOCK WORKS GREAT. IF YOU NEED ANY CLOCK WORK DONE, DAN IS THE ONE TO CALL. HE'S BUSY SO YOU MIGHT HAVE TO CALL A FEW TIMES BUT IT'S WORTH THE EFFORT.

DAN WAS VERY HELPFUL. HE RETURNED MY PHONE CALL PROMPTLY AND WAS PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS. HE FIXED MY BROKEN WALL CLOCK IN 15 MINUTES (I MANAGED TO HAVE ALL THE PIECES) AND CHARGED A MINIMAL FEE. I WOULD RECOMMEND AND USE AGAIN!

DAN IS VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS THAT IT TOOK ABOUT 2 WEEKS LONGER TO GET CLOCK BACK THAN ORIGINALLY PROMISED. HOWEVER, DAN DID RETURN PHONE CALLS AND KEPT US POSTED ON DELAYS.

THIS MAN IS FANTASTIC! HE REALLY KNOWS ANTIQUE CLOCKS & CAN FIX JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. HE CAN OBTAIN PARTS, FIX PARTS, & CAN IMPROVISE.
