Description of Work: Dave opened up my antique Seth Thomas clock that I thought was broken. He looked it up in the Seth Thomas catalog, and found out it was made in 1888! !

He took the time to explain how it works and got the night chimes all worked out for me. Could not have been more professional or nicer. He also serviced my mother's grandfather clock after moving here from Maryland.

I took it to Dan and he not only put it back together ( and you cannot see the cracks!), but also took parts off other old c**** to replace parts that were missing and could not be purchased any more. He completely fixed it and it works perfectly and that means so much to me! He is a professional in every aspect of the word and he obviously takes great care and pride in his work! Description of Work: My grandmother clock would not chime after I moved to a new home. I called "This Olde Clock Repair" and it was very apparent, very quickly that the owner - Mr. Grumbling - was a true craftsman and a gentleman. He had to work on the clock for a few hours and had to improvise a repair ( I also learned that most clocks - including my Howard Miller - are generally only good for @20 years, then the movement essentially wears out and needs to be replaced (@$500.00). Mr. Grumbling improvised a repair that will likely save me the $500.00 - at least for a few more years. What was truly remarkable about Mr. Grumbling was his kindness to me. When Mr. Grumbling arrived, I had been shovelling snow from the driveway. Upon entering my home, I promptly wiped out on the hardwood floors and really bumped my head on the floor when I landed h****** my back. Mr. Grumbling's first kindness was that he said he didn't see the acrobatics (but I'm pretty sure he did :) . In any event, while working on the clock, he asked several times if I was alright. He even offered to take me to the Urgent Care. When I declined, he gave me explicit directions on how to get there. Later in the evening, Mr. Grumbling called my home and again asked if I was alright. What a great person!! and my clock now works great and the price was right too! Thank you Mr. Grumbling.

Description of Work: I had purchased an 1930's mantel clock on Ebay which was represented as being in working order. It wasn't working when it arrived. I emailed the shop late in the day and received a response within 30 minutes. Dan said he was familiar with the type of clock and he would be happy to look at it. I called the shop the next morning and he said he would be there, so I met him at his shop shortly after. The clock just needed a minor adjustment and he showed me how to properly handle the pendulum.

Description of Work: I inherited a family clock that we believe came from Germany. The clock needed some general maintenance to get the clock running. I was extremely impressed with the timeliness and the (low) cost. I was prepared to pay 4-5 times the amount I was charged. I was also appreciative of the professionalism and the knowledge of clocks. The "lessons" about how to work the clock were also appreciated. When I told my siblings about my experience they were pleasantly surprised and excited to have the clock repaired. Description of Work: The clock was an E. Ingraham Clock from Bristol, CT. It was dated at c. 1880 and had been in the family since that time. He cleaned it, replaced the mainspring and replaced the alarm with an original alarm. I had no idea that it was an alarm clock. He also gave me complete instructions on how to use the clock and keep it running.

Description of Work: I have an approx 70 year old "box regulater" wall clock which had completely stopped working. Dan quickly diagnosed the problems and repaired it while I waited. He had to reset the pendulum "beat" and oil the clock.
