The workers arrived on time, did a thorough job and the results were excellent. They wore booties into the house so as to not track dirt in and were very professional, friendly and courteous. When they presented the bill, it was not the same as the estimate. They called the office and found out the estimator had not calculated the job properly but they honored the estimate anyway. It was only a matter of $20 or so, but I was impressed with how it was handled. I would not hesitate to use their services again and would recommend them to family/friends.
Description of Work: Had a clogged vent pipe which was correctly diagnosed by the estimator. The next day the scheduler called and made a next day appointment. The work crew (2 men) arrived on time. It was raining but they went onto the roof and spent over half an hour snaked the vent from the roof to the street.

This happened on a Saturday. Every company was very busy, lots of flooded basements. A to Z techs were not able to get to me till 9pm, but they not only showed up (instead of putting me off till Monday) but were energetic, cheerful and ready to work. Didn't finish till after 10pm but fixed my problem. Made a horrible situation go away. Very pleased.
Description of Work: Main house drain backed up in basement at time of heavy snow and rain and another company told me they couldn't get to me for two days due to excessive calls. A to Z came out, accurately diagnosed the problem, cleaned drain.

Dispatch was very professional and kind and set up appointment quickly. Plumber, Charles, called about 10 minutes before he was to arrive. He arrived exactly when he said and when the dispatch promised. He is very professional, told me what he would do, told me not to worry that they would fix it. He did the job quickly and left the area cleaned up. A-2 has been to our home several times and they always do a great job!

From the dispatcher who answered the first call t the service professionals this was a great company. They were honest, gave estimates in line with the cost of the work, came early for the job and handled what was expected of them. I did not need to stand over them, and stress about every thing that was going on. They followed the instructions that they were given, and they did not need reminded about closing door, shutting off lights, checking things, or walking on carpet. This was a great experience compared to the last 2 sump pump replacements that I have endured- and they have certainly earned my business from here out. I am glad that I checked for plumbing professionals on Angie's list. This saved me a huge amount of money and aggravation, and gave me a go to plumbing service that is dependable, courteous and price conscious. Amen!!!
Description of Work: Replace Sump pump and battery back up, pump out water in basement, track source of problem and recommend solutions to resolve the problem. Each step was explained, and pricing was also given at each step of the process.

Response from A to Z Dependable Services
Thank YOU for your kind words. We strive to make everyone's plumbing experience a pleasurable one. It is not uncommon for customers to call us in a panic with emotions running high. I understand it as most people don't wake up and decide to call a plumbing company because they WANT to.. We are called because there is a problem so from the beginning of answering the call, we like to set the tone with "Thanks for calling A to Z" mostly because we truly do value you choosing us to rectify a problem that you have. There are lots of plumbers out there but when we say "Thanks" we feel that we are starting off a relationship with you knowing that we do appreciate your call and we are here to help. My staff is all very accommodating and I am genuinely humbled and appreciative of the wonderful, talented, honest staff we have here at A to Z. So in closing, I am glad you had a great experience and we will do our best to keep the good work. It is customers like you that make it worth it for us! Thank You!

They came here in good time. A young kid in about his early twenties came to the door first while the senior guy stayed out in the van. The younger guy tried first to open the drain and had trouble getting the snake through, then he went out and got the senior guy to come in and take a look,he came in and tried and wasn't able to get it either. The younger guy said is that ok I couldn't do it and the senior guy said thats ok it's not my drain. So than we have to go up to the roof and they ask me if I had a ladder,I said yes and had to go get it out of the garage for them and I have a bad back, well I was outside helping the younger guy, while the other guy was inside trying to push the snake through asking us if we could see it coming out. We couldn't so the younger guy tried it from the roof still couldn't get it through after numerous tries, then the senior guy climbs up there and is able to get it through the whole took about an hour and a half,so he filled the sink up with water and I went in the basement to check for leaks nothing I left the house shortly after that and came home later and thought I saw water in the basement again so I went upstairs and looked under the sink there was a pin hole in the metal pipe,so I called them back and ended up talking to the owner he said, they would have to charge me again to come back out and gave me some ideas how to fix it myself meanwhile I look under the sink again there are more leaks than I had originally, from all the taking things apart and putting them back together. Looks like i'm on my own. I will not be calling them back unless to take to court, and I would probably lose, also I was charged forty extra because they had to go up on the roof. The owner said he would have to talk to the guys that were here,if they could remember the job they did, they were just here!!

Response from A to Z Dependable Services
In response to the work completed. I appreciate Angie's list for giving customers a platform to post their reviews good or bad. In this particular situation it is extremely confusing as well as it is misleading as I am the owner that this customer [member name removed] had spoken to last week. I would like to start off by explaining what the initial call that was put in to our system stated. Customer said that his kitchen sink is clogged. It is now leaking down into the basement. It is a double sink- said the dishwasher, sink and garbage disposal all drains into the same line. Contact [member name removed] at xxx xxx xxxx.. When the technicians arrived on the job the senior technician was returning a call from the office so the younger technician started the job. The very 1st thing that was noticed at this home was that underneath the sink was saturated with water. In fact there was no bottom of the base cabinet which is an indication of how long this sink HAS been leaking. So the technician took apart the p trap under the sink to snake the drain. The homeowner said that he thinks that once the drain is snaked out it shouldn't leak anymore.. My technicians both said that snaking the drain isnt going to fix a pipe that is leaking but the homeowner said it has happened before and once the drain is snaked it wont leak anymore...They did not want to argue so they snaked it. They hit a straight tee in the wall and the snake would not go down. The snake instead kept going up the vent stack so they decided to go from the roof and snake it. Since the garage was very close to the location where they had to get up on the roof the technician asked the homeowner if he had a ladder. We too had a ladder on the roof rack of the truck. But homeowner seemed to be in a rush so everything was all about getting it done quickly as we value peoples time. So the homeowner said sure I got one right here. And got the ladder out of the garge for him. So they snaked the drain from the vent stack on the roof and it opened, cleaned up done. All 3 of them homeowner and technicians looked and there were no apparent leaks as the water was running after putting the p trap back on etc.. So the technicians collected and moved on to the next job. The next day my operations manager was getting yelled at on the phone by someone that said we were going to get sued and he wants his pipe fixed for free. Well I myself told my operations manager to put the customer on hold and I would talk to him. So the very 1st thing was the customer saying that he had us out to fix his drain and its leaking now and said that we broke his pipe with our snake. I explained to him that our snakes are designed to clean the drain not break it. He said OK so your are telling me I'm on my own then. No I am not saying that. I am simply stating that if the pipe is galvanized and it is old, then possibly he could have put something down the drain to cause the pipe to become weakened. He said initially that he did not. Later in the conversation once explaining to him that the use of drain cleaning chemicals such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid or muratic acid could have a detrimental effect on the steel piping. He then explained that he had put a drain cleaning chemical down the drain. Ok so I explained that if the pipe is leaking it most likely would need to be replaced. I further explained that we did charge him to "clean" the drain and that cutting out the bad section and replacing it would be outside of the scope of what we were paid for but we would treat the job as if we were there on the same call. I further explained that normally a repair such as his might be 100-200 to replace from under the sink to the tee but I would have to talk to the guys to see what they remember about the job. The other reason that I wanted to talk to the guys was that there MIGHT be a tee that is not the right tee possibly a straight tee or maybe it is sweeping in the wrong direction that may have caused the snake to climb the stack instead of it going down. The conversation went well so I thought.. I offered to have them out the next day which would have been Friday 10/3/14. [member name removed]said he had to work and he would put a bucket under it for the time being. I offered some suggestions as mentioned so that he could build up some head pressure to thoroughly flush the line. He was appreciative of the suggestion and thanked me. He said his next available opening would be on the 7th of October so I contacted the dispatch department and had them hold a time slot open so we could rectify the problem. Which later he cancelled then wrote the negative review. So here is the positive spin for consumers. A to Z did not cause the leak in fact it was leaking when we had gotten there. The homeowner poured an acid based product down the drain which is not his fault either because he did what he thought was the right thing to do based upon clever marketing by companies selling acid to open up drains. Here are a few links with warnings to read before using these types of products. EVERY consumer should be aware of what they are pouring down the drain and the damage that they can do. [hyperlinks removed] The follwing like is an example of what a chemical drain cleaner can do to the structural integrity of the pipe. This is galvanized drain pipe. It is typical for us to see pipes that look like this when there has been long term chemical drain openers used to clear the drain. [hyperlink removed] In closing, I want to leave consumers with a thought. Back about 17 years ago a customer called and wanted a tub drain cleaned out. I quoted the price and the customer said all you plumbers charge too much I will do it myself. So i apologized at the $45.00 i was asking to clean the drain. So 2 weeks later I get a call from the same customer but its not for cleaning the drain its for replacing a bathtub and all of the piping in the ceiling of the 1st floor living room. Ok I said no problem. When I had gotten there the bottom of the bathtub had no porcelain on the steel - porcelain tub, but just on the bottom. Then I was looking at pinholes from the bathroom into the dining room below. I said is this the same tub you called me about a couple weeks ago? he looked at me his wife looked at him she said well answer the man and tell him ...... poor guy looked like a dog that was just scolded for doing something bad... So in addition, all of the piping that connected to the tub drain was rotted and in need of replacement. There was NO one that had come out there only his drain cleaning product that he did not read the directions for. The job ended up costing him more than $45.00 to snake it. If any consumer has a slow moving kitchen sink drains or a slow tub drain they should consider a biodegradeable enzyme before using an acid based product. A to Z sells a product called Pro-Clean [hyperlink removed]

Nice job by plumber Jeff. On time, worked quickly, and was very professional. He checked everything after to insure proper installation. I had checked out several plumbing outfits prior to calling A to Z their price was slightly lower than everyone else plus they had great reviews. I would definitely call them again.

Plumber called before arriving and identified himself and the company. Plumber (Chris) has an Excellent customer service personable skill set and used humor appropriately. ***Plumber made very neat cuts into plaster to access improperly recessed pipe fitting required to remove old trap arm. Plumber cleaned up as he progressed and carried all trash and used materials out with him. I needed only one moist paper towel to cleanup fine dust from the bathroom floor. Chris suggested I ask the company for an estimate when we replace plumbing in bathroom and advised that I insist flange be correctly installed when toilet is removed and reset. * noticed after plumber from another company replaced kitchen faucet and kitchen trap arm behind the plastic trap. ** previously fine but, slower draining and stuck lift rod were noticed SAME day and week later, respectively, that plumber from another company had accessed this sink. Drain time had increased over months' time.
Description of Work: Determined source of intermittent water leak under kitchen sink-missing hose clamp from dishwasher to disposal- & replaced it. Replaced shut off valve ( for ex., toilet). Powder room sink: removed clog between pop-up assembly and trap; checked tosee if auger was needed for pipe behind wall. Replaced corroded tin trap with plastic. Replaced bathroom faucet.

I have used A to Z twice now and both times they were great. The last time was during the recent string of storms. At 11 pm I lost my primary sump pump. The backup was holding on but I was nervous. I called them. They quoted over the phone the cost of an emergency call and then told me how soon they could get there. The weather was terrible and they called to let me know that the roads were slowing their progress down. All said though, they got here and replaced the pump. First class job. Have a list of things now that I am going to have them quote on a non-emergency basis.

The house we needed work in is a rental property, and they communicated with the renter, and us as to arrival time, etc. Punctual, and able to explain the problems, and what it would take to fix. Cost in line with estimates. Had another problem at the same house a month later, and they promptly took care of it. I was unaware that their work had a 30-day guarantee, however, and it was just luck that I called within that time frame. It turned out to be a separate issue, but it would have been nice for both our tenant and us to know that. I also had to ask for an invoice to be sent to us for the work that was done. All in all, happy with the work, and will use again, if needed, and would recommend to others.

They arrived on the day they promised. They got to work promptly, did all the work necessary. Finally, they finished @ approximately the time they estimated. They left our yard in as good of condition as possible. We have already recommended A-Z Plumbing to friends and neighbors. We would gladly recommend A-Z plumbing to anyone who needs the services they provide.
Description of Work: They dug several feet down into our yard to reveal the problem. Once they knew the extent of the damage, they replaced all the damaged pipes with the correct size & type necessary. Then they covered the hole & told us what to expect to get everything looking great again.

Overall every thing went very good. Workers were professional and cleaned up after themselves. They put cloths down over the carpeting that they needed to walk over. Swept up any dirt on my hall tiles and in the laundry room where all the digging took place.
Description of Work: On 2/25/2013 A to Z Plumbing came to see why water was backing up into my laundry room. After snaking out the pipes, they put their arm down the floor drain and discovered a broken pipe. This service cost me $105.00. They said that they would have to get their construction crew out here to break up the concrete floor to get to the broken pipe. The first opening was 3/5/2013. I was told they would cap the job at $1100.00. They came as scheduled and were here about 6 hours. They broke up the floor, cut off the piece of pipe that was broken, replaced the whole drain with a PVC one. Booted it to the 2 pipes that originally were attached to the drain. They had to dig down approximately 2 feet. They removed all the dirt and broken concrete, filled the whole that was about 2 feet in diameter with small rocks and then filled it with cement. After a few days I noticed that the cement was cracking and sinking in places. I called and they returned promptly to recement. I was very pleased with the results. The final cost was below the cap price at $950.00. I was not charged for the re-cementing. I don't have anything to compare the cost too, but I believe it was a good price. That is why I gave the cost a (B). I would use them again, but I hope I don't need to..

Briefly, I decided to get a second estimate. i contacted the service which had worked on a similar problem at the home of my next door neighbor. The work done for my neighbor had been successful and my neighbor was completely satisfied. When I contacted this service (Morris Drain Service) I was impressed with the explanation of the problem and the estimate seemed reasonable. I decided to employ Morris Drain Service and have been very satisfied with the services performed and the cost of the services.

We know NOTHING about plumbing, we just knew there was water on the kitchen floor so we knew we had a leak, SOMEWHERE! A to Z came highly recommended so we gave them a call and they came out on Dec. 31, 2012. They were supposed to find and fix the leak, also, my hot water tap thingy was just spinning with no hot water coming out of the tap. We had a leak in the actual pipe going into the basement so they did find that, fix, and replace that. They repaired my handle for the hot water so I could at least get the hot water to turn on, that said, they nicked up the brushed nickel finish on the handle so it began to rust out almost immediately. After washing dishes the following day, I noticed that my kitchen floor was wet again. Thinking I just had spilled some water, I blew it off as it wasn't that much water. The following day, my floor was wet again after washing the dishes. My husband checked under the sink and the drain into the repaired pipe was leaking all over. The very next morning, the repaired handle broke again and would just spin without turning on. Anxiety level through the roof, we called the company again, they came out, said that they could not fix my handle and left. My husband repaired the leak thanks to the hardware store. This company came out and did only what they 'had' to do. I will never call them again, not only did they waste my time, my dogs and I sat in the car because the temp was below freezing for over an hour because the man was afraid of dogs. He asked me to leave them outside for over an hour with temps below freezing, if I would have had some warning about that, I would have made plans for them to be at my Mom's, the temps were to cold for them to be out for over an hour, for him to ask me that, I thought, was just rude. If my dogs were going to be a problem, they should have told me that when I called to have them come out to begin with. Overall, they only fixed what they 'had' to, did more damage than they repaired, and left me with no hot water. In the end, I was still in the same boat, a leak, no hot water, and minus $100.00.
