We have used Jeff's services since 2005 and always have been pleased with their work. They are very proffessional and caring of your landscaping. They do a wonderfull job and we would recommend their services to anyone.

Collin came out and did the design work. It looked very nice but I also wanted him to do more than only just around the house. I spoke with the designer about continuing the design for the east side my house and the property lines. He said he would be willing to do the work. He is very nice to work with. I didn't have the work done this fall because the costs for beds clean-up and plantings was quoted at nearly $6000. which I am not ready to spend at this time. I hope to work with the company in phases next year.

Upon calling them after they had already been to my home (my husband was at home) I explained I also want an estimate for the front and sides, since aparently my husband had only discussed the back yard. When, after several weeks they emailed us the drawings, I was thinking they would sit down and go over things but that is all I got. Guess we have to figure things out ourself now.

We initially met with Troy for a consultation and evalution of our backyard. We were concerned that his company might not do smaller projects like ours, but he assured us that they do all sizes of projects. He was extremely knowledgeable, listened to our ideas and formulated a design for a paver patio, plant beds (selecting appropriate plants) and provided an excellent landscaping design. He provided us with an estimate within two weeks and was not fazed by the fact that we made many changes at that time. He also brought samples of pavers that helped us decide on the colors. His design worked cleverly around our sprinkler system so that the irrigation lines did not have to be relocated. The work began the third week after the initial consultaion and was completed in 10 days. The workers were very diligent, conscientious and highly professional. The yard and street were superbly cleaned after each day's work. We were surprised that a 10 yr guarantee was provided for the patio, but realized it was due to the superior workmanship of the patio installation. The cost of removal of very large branches from trees was significantly lower than we had been charged in the past by "tree trimming speciatists." We highly recommend this company and Troy in particular and will definitely use them for any addition landscaping needs.

The team of two worked steadily for about 5.5 hours and I was impressed with the results. Based on an an earlier conversation I had with Collin about what needed to be done the team had obviously been given detailed instructions on what and how certain tasks were to be performed. The team worked carefully and steadily the whole time they were here. The only suggestion I have is that it would have been nice to have been notified a day or so in advance of when the service was to be done. This is the first year of working with this company. They have done the spring and fall cleanups and I have been pleased with the results. I look forward to working with this company again in 2013.

.The men that did the work were hard workers and thorough, plus pointed things out that I had not noticed. I can't wait until I can complete the 2nd phase of installing the plants. I will definitely call them again of any landscaping work.

Although my estimator was professional and articulate, I feel he failed to take into account several of my specific requests I asked for when he presented his final plan for my landscaping. Among other things, I asked for low cost alternatives to the stone etc. but was not given much to choose from. I probably would consider using them again, but I will make my requests and my ideas much more emphatic next time. Perhaps it was a communication problem and I may be partially at fault.

This project began with a $49 Angie?s ?Big Deal? landscape design offer. After discussing my goals, Troy did the initial design. I like to be very involved and Troy was easy to work with as we tinkered-and-tuned his design. Until it was all done, I didn?t realize what a great design he had created ? you just can?t see the entire end result on paper. The construction crew was great. Cruze (foreman) and Carlos did most of the work, with some help from a 3rd member for a couple of days (the overall job took 9 ½ days). The crew was hard working, easy to get along with and conscientious ? they did quality work. They have to do a great job, as the company provides a TEN YEAR WARRANTY ON WORKMANSHIP ? with that kind of warranty, they have to do it right the first time. The overall results are OUTSTANDING!! The final product is massive and very impressive. Take a look at the photos and judge for yourself. While it was not cheap, after seeing the results and how much work and material were involved, I think the price was AT LEAST reasonable and more likely was a very good price. We were very pleased with Terra Horticultural Services and would highly recommend them.

We worked with Colin for design and project supervision. We were very happy with the results and are already proceeding with our next project with Terra. Terra included some of our own existing plants and added additional stone work from residual site inventory at no added cost. Colin was able to develop the design within our budget constraints and still achieve significant "wow" factor.

Terry was very accommodating and met with me at 7am because my schedule was so limiting. He arrived right on time, and took copious notes while I walked him through my entire yard. I shared what I liked that was existing and what I envisioned. He was great at confirming his understanding of my ideas, and asked questions to ensure that. He was very attentive and really took time to notate the types of plants I said I do and don't like. I also asked for him to separate the quote by front yard, back yard and sides so that I could have the work performed in phases. His design came to me a bit later than I'd expected, but he was good about contacting me back to let me know that he had been inundated and would need a bit more time. The end design reflected his astute awareness and capture of all of the things I said I liked and didn't like, as well as my goals. I was very impressed with that.

I was very excited about this offer as we had just purchased a new home with many landscape areas and were eager to have a professional design team assess/recommend layout. I tried 3 times to schedule the appointment, each time person I spoke with said someone from Terra would call me back to set time/date. After 3rd attempt, someone finally did call, only to tell me I was out of their service area. I asked why wasn't their any mention of this on Angie's List, to which they had no answer. I then asked where there service area extended from & to, she gave a vague description, which seemed to be very close to my house (within 5 minutes). After telling her of this, she abruptly repeated we are out of service area and there was nothing they could do. I said i have 3 other houses i wanted to use their service for also, but they to were out of service area. They weren't quite sure what their service area was, just that all 4 houses (each in different towns) are outside of it. What a JOKE!

We first met Jeff Stroupe, the owner of Terra, in mid-June after some issues with other landscaping companies who either didn't return calls or put together sloppy proposals. We were pleasantly surprised by Jeff, who manages to be very friendly and no-nonsense at the same time. We told him that we wanted to build a paver patio in our backyard, which is very wide but relatively shallow. One of our main requirements was that the patio not cut the yard in half, since we have two small dogs who love to run. Jeff worked with us to design a patio that was nice than we could have imagined in our space. He was the first landscaper we dealt with who suggested that our patio run from our back door toward the middle of our yard, which is more private. Other plans from other landscapers were simply mirror images of what we thought we wanted--but only Jeff took the time to think things through and show us how to make the best use of our space. We ended up with a patio that incorporated beautiful stairs with a slight curve going to a grill enclosure and a smaller part of the patio; as you turn to the right it opens out and becomes wider (that area is less visible to other houses nearby). Jeff also took our concerns about our dogs very seriously. Even though he explained that a patio less than about 400 sq ft just doesn't look right, the design works so that there is plenty of room between the patio and fence. A small curved area behind the back door meets up with a larger curved area to the right to give a nice, organic look to the entire patio. It doesn't overwhelm the yard, but it's not too small, either. It's perfect for the space. A seating wall comes off the grill enclosure on the smaller circle--it was originally planned for the larger area, but we realized that would physically break the yard into two parts, so Jeff suggested anchoring one part of the seating wall to the grill enclosure and the other to a column. The end result is great. Jeff did want to incorporate more landscape elements (he's a landscaper and thinks in terms of integrating the patio into the surrounding space). However, we were worried about our terriers digging in mulch beds, so he suggested river gravel between the patio and house to soften up the space. As Jeff put it, you don't want it to look as if your patio just dropped out of the sky into your backyard. He put up with us gradually reducing his beautifully sketched blueprint, taking out plants and soil until it was just river gravel and flagstone passageways. (I say "put up with," but I don't mean anything negative--he was always very friendly and would try very gently to show us why a certain way of doing things might be better.) The result was a patio that meshes nicely with river gravel and "connects" naturally to the house. The workmanship was nothing short of stunning. The crew was always on time every day, was extremely polite, and tried as hard as possible not to damage our yard, and did stellar workmanship with the preparation (smoothing the ground and building up gravel), stone cutting and building the grill enclosure and seat wall, and laying the patio. We get comments on how beautiful the patio and steps are, and our next-door neighbor actually scheduled an appointment with Terra while watching our patio being built. Other neighbors and friends have asked who did the patio. I can't stress strongly enough the quality of the workmanship, or the way that the seating wall meshes with--rather than simply abuts--the grill enclosure. We have two courses of stone around the outside of the patio that are nearly perfect, with taper-cut stone used to help make the curves smoother. These courses even follow the slight curve of our stairs. (In fact, a couple of days after the fact, I emailed Jeff to ask about an space between two curved stones, and he had someone out to look at it within 48 hours. It turned out to be nothing (really nothing--I measured it myself and checked against accepted tolerances online), but Jeff was nice about it and said to call if we noticed gaps we weren't comfortable with. I should also mention that Jeff broke out the cost of each element, and is willing to do large jobs in phases if the homeowner wishes. We had a question about one cost in the estimate, and Jeff never became defensive in the slightest. He took the time to explain how he arrived at the estimate based on the amount of stone as well as the number of cuts that needed to be made. In fact, he began going through his backup notes and calculations, but at that point I said not to worry about it. The only slight negative I have is that it took a little longer to get from design to building than we first thought, I think because Jeff is becoming busier as people find out how good Terra Horticulture is, and because there seems to have been a record number of patios built this year. In our development, it sometimes seemed as if every other house was putting up a patio. I don't want to lower any scores because of this, because Jeff or his scheduling assistant kept in touch with us. And when we saw the level of detail and care that was taken with the patio, we completely forgot about the delay because we were simply so impressed with the extreme attention to detail and getting it right. One more thing I almost forgot: their prep work must be the best in the area. They do not slap up patios. They take the time to grade right, put in more than the standard amount of gravel and sand, and try to make sure that nothing is going to move out of place. Jeff provides a 10-year guarantee if stones settle out of place, so he has every incentive to get it right the first time. They will not build right up against the house, partly because of the settlement that occurs with French drains. Jeff showed us that we already had a slight reverse grade within 3' or so of our house. They use river gravel or mulch beds between the patio and house. The first course of the steps is joined with rebar. In fact, the construction crew even made sure that water would not settle around or be trapped by our grill enclosure or seating wall before setting the stones in polysand. Overall, an amazing job by a very professional company at a very reasonable price.

We purchased a "Big Deal" coupon from this company for a full landscape design and consultation this summer. I called and spoke with a lovely woman in the Terra Horticultural office about a week ago to schedule the appointment. Within only a few hours, Collin had returned my call and was able to set up the consultation appointment for early the following week. He came to the house, on time and very pleasant, to see our property and ask about our ideas. He was very receptive and clearly informed us about the process and likely timeline to provide us with a comprehensive landscape design for the yard, which we appreciate greatly. Although we are just beginning to work with this company, my first impression has been excellent and I am looking forward to seeing the design and their work.

From start to finish the work done was phenomenal! Words can not express how pleased I am with the completion of this project. This company is way better than ones I have used in the past. Excellent, excellent job well done! I needed a paver patio and had talked to several companies before speaking with Troy at Terra Horticultural. After I described what I wanted Troy provided a professional drawing that depicted what I wanted. Seth and his team made it happen -- it looks amazing. They were professional, meticulous and methodical, using high tech tools to deliver the final product that is top notch second to none! I am so happy!

Terra Hort does a quality job, and they are very professional. They did all the work as promised, and cleaned up after themselves. The reason why I am giving them a B is due to the company not calling us to tell us they were behind schedule. We had to initate the calls to them to follow up on shifting dates. They were late by 4 weeks from the original estimated date to complete the job.

The actual landscaping was good. Staff was very knowledgeable, showed up on time and worked hard. Overall we were pleased. However, the initial scheduling was a nightmare and for this reason I hesitate to use this company again. We kept getting pushed back without anyone notifying us and it wasn't until we called and complained that we finally got on the schedule.

I called this company to get an estimate on trenching our sump pump line out to the road from the house. The person arrived on time for the consultation and said he would have a written estimate within 10 days. 10 days later I called the company and asked about the estimate. I was told someone would call me back. We have never heard anything from this company nor received a written estimate. I think that our job was too small for them to bother with us- I just wish they would have politely told us that instead of ignoring us. Would never recommend or call this company ever again!!!!!

We have used Terra to take care of our landscaping needs since 2009. They have been taking care of the Spring Clean Up and Fall Clean Up. Each year they have exceeded our expectations. The cleaning crew is always courteous and professional. They pay close attention to detail and are careful to ensure that the job is completed to our satisfaction. The yard looks great!

Best lawn cutting we have had yet. Did some edging we hadn't asked for which was needed. Mow on an angle and then remember to switch the next week. Able to switch the day of cut due to some work being preformed.

All workers were professional in their work and in their manners. They worked two days and cleaned up each day leaving no clutter or dangerous items on my property either day.
