 + 0 moreThis is an update to a previous review I placed on 4/11/2017. Originally, I gave the company a "D", reasons listed on the review. Since then, David from Landscapes came by and tried to address as many of our concerns as he could. He fixed the mulch problem by simply adding more mulch (which he did himself), and left an extra bag for us. He has also promised to come and do spot treatments for weeds in a couple of weeks (something that was not part of the original contract---and with no extra charge). He even pointed somethings about our landscape that needed some changing, but did not try to sell anything more. I appreciate the effort and the response. I would consider hiring them again next year, assuming they address the original concerns internally as well so that the quality of the work is good the first time around (which he of course reassured me it would be).

 + 0 more1) When they placed the mulch, they covered many of our plants--the Hostas in the front which were all budding; the salvias on the side which were very small too. And the bigger plants' bases were all covered by mulch. My husband and I had to go and remove the mulch off of the plants and their bases. 2) They coned the mulch around the trees. 3) We did not see any granules for pre-emergent. We don't know if they even did this. 4) The mulch was laid very unevenly. Some areas were extra thick, and others bare and thin. 5) As we were out fixing the mulch, we actually pulled several weeds (which should have been removed as part of the spring clean-up). 6) I called the company to ask about schedules, and when the workers would be coming. They advised me they were scheduled for the following week. The same day, the workers showed up later in the afternoon. They came to the house, and started walking the property without a courtesy knock on the door to let me know who they were and why they were there.
Description of Work: Landscaping spring clean-up, mulching, and weed pre-emergent treatment.

He also responded patiently with recommendations to questions regarding drainage, tree trimming, removal of carpet from a cement porch, etc. We plan to do some of the work ourselves but will definitely contact David for those things beyond our capabilities.

From initial design discussion with Collin , :: I had a general , though unformed idea of what I wanted, he took the time to work with me to reach a design perfect for me. Felt like his primary concern was getting what I would be happy with, not just another job. 2. Workers did a fantastic job ,,,the detail stone work on the patio was laborious to do but was done perfectly. Great guys to have around, pleasant ,& very professional,. 3.pricing, have had other work done at a previous home and really feel the quality of the work, attention to detail, and the responsiveness and follow-up that Colin provided made this experience well worth the cost.

 + 3 moreLast's years workers did an outstanding job. The Spring maintenance was done with care and the property was left looking wonderful. Since the edging on our patio had been improperly placed when the patio was laid for the previous owner, it took a good bit of time to remove the edging, relay it lower so it was not sticking up above the pavers and then try to refit the pavers back into the patio. Again care was taken and the result was excellent. Finally, when the workers removed a diseased tree and later place a new tree in the area, I felt the new tree had been placed too close to an existing wooden fence. The men returned and moved the tree a suitable distance; this also involved removing a number of perennials from the area and then replanting them. Again, a well-done job and the area was left in A-1 condition.
Description of Work: In the Spring I have maintenance done which includes, pruning shrubs, putting down mulch, dividing perenials, and whatever else needs to be done. I also had work done on my patio--relaying some pavers, filling in sand as needed, and putting sealer on the surface. I also had a tree removed and another planted. Lastly I had monthly maintenance of the beds on our property.

Description of Work: New patio . Tore out old deck. Put in pavers, wall for sitting on, bench, eco-friendly pavers (porous ) in one area, put in LED lighting, and a fountain. Added electrical boxes, mulched garden around patio.

 + 1 moreCommunication with planner / designer was poor. Design itself was difficult with shaded areas but did not meet expectations as several plants do not thrive in spite of watering and care. It took them months to replace an ornamental tree that had died over the winter. Fortunately, the workers themselves were great and pointed out changes that would work better than the original design.
Description of Work: Rework of several different areas of front, side and rear yard. Included hardscape and several plantings along with grading.

Reading other reviews, it's obvious this bad review puts our opinion in the minority, but it's still disappointing to have them ignore a great opportunity for work because of laziness.

 + 2 moreAll work was completed in a little over an hour. The crew was quick and efficient without any wasted actions. Everyone, total of two, knew their role and set about doing it with no nonsense. The leader of the crew, Sarah, usually is alone and does an outstanding job.
Description of Work: Terra sprayed for weeds, re-edged, power blew leaves/grass clippings & hauled away from my beds, raked mulch, trimmed shrubs & hauled away and tucked in a piece of aluminum siding molding which had come loose.

 + -1 moreThis was a big deal purchase. We have not acted upon that as far as getting the company to do any of the work. It worked our fine. It was a little slow in coming, but other than that he did provide the landscape design that he had talked to us about. He ended up emailing it to us; he did not come out and talk to us about it. The price for the design they provided for us was fine. We had not really talked about budget and it was way over our budget. That's why we did not have them do any of the work.

Description of Work: The work performed by the company was good, but communication from them was TERRIBLE. After they did the estimate I had to call back after a few days to find out when they'd be coming to do the landscaping - to which they said they would be about 4 weeks and would call me the day before coming out. Mid-week the week they were supposed to come I still hadn't heard back, so I had to call again. The home office said I had to call the field manager. When I called him, he said they wouldn't be out until the next week, maybe week after. The following week, still no phone call so I texted the guy again and he didn't text back until the next morning, saying "we will be there at 8:30 am. So much for advance notice!! I had to call off work! When they came to do the work I asked if they could haul away some extra wood but the guy said "you'll have to call [other guy] to ask him." My pet peeve is a company making ME do all the calling around to figure things out. You all work for the same company, you should be the ones to call each other for scheduling, estimates, confirmation, and follow up. The work they did was good, if you don't mind being ignored for months at a time.

They were punctual, efficient, did a GREAT job, and the workers were very nice, especially the one who appeared to be "in charge." He had a great sense of humor! I enjoyed our interactions.
Description of Work: flower beds were terribly overgrown. I needed them cleaned up, weeded, mulched, and edged. One bed was removed and replaced with sod. Some minor pruning was done. A "rock bed" was redone.

 + -1 moreHe came out of the house and showed us plans and redid it a couple of times to meet our requirements. The instillation went smoothly and everything looked good. 8 of the 11 plants died within 4 weeks. The other 3 survive and we called them and it took them a while but they came and replaced them. Now they are looking good and healthy. When we called them and told them the plants were dead I thought they were going to come out the next week but it was several weeks before they come out to look at it.
Description of Work: They redid the whole front yard including grading and re-seeding. They also put n decorative flower on the font of our house and side walk. It was a pretty substantial job.

Took about a day and a half to complete as there was a lot of weeding to be done and I added another bed to be weeded that was not on the original plan.  + 1 moreWe felt the lack of response with a quote along with not adhering to timelines set BY the provider themselves shows a lack of professionalism. Based on images we saw of their work we really would have liked to consider them seriously but have lost trust after 2 months of waiting for a quote. I can understand that this may be their busy season or they may be over-booked but would have rather appreciated them turning the job down so that we could move on versus leaving us hanging. We will not reach back out to this provider after this experience in the future.
Description of Work: We reached out for a quote on a patio - we were contacted and setup an appointment at home to walk through what we were looking for. Collin arrived for the appointment as scheduled (March 19th) and listened to what we were asking for a quote on within our budget of $15k. He then let us know if would take a month to get a workup of a quote. While we weren't thrilled it would take a month to hear back, we were willing to wait based on the reviews we'd seen along with pictures he showed us of their work. We followed up on April 7th hoping to make a decision soon on who to go with and were told within a week we would hear back, again we followed up on April 27th and were informed they'd get "rough" numbers over shortly. To date, we still have not heard back with an estimate (now more than 2 months from the initial appointment).

 + -1 moreIt went very well. The three men working did a very nice job. They contacted the owner when there was concern about pruning a plum tree (a large portion of the tree was dead) which would make the tree appear very lop-sided if the dead wood was removed. In the end the owner and I decided the tree would have to be replaced. They worked a full day until the mulch they had available was spread, then came back on Monday (May 9th) to finish the beds still needing mulching.
Description of Work: Edged beds to depth of 3 inches. Removed much of the "old" mulch before laying down new mulch. Thinned out some plants needing it and repositioned a couple of plants that had gaps in the plantings. Put pre-emergent weed control on beds. Cut/pruned shrubs. Applied slow release fertilizer to all foundation plants. Spread 9 yards of mulch.
