I spoke to Terry and set up a time to get an estimate for some exterior painting for our brick wrap house. He showed up as promised and was able to give us an estimate that day. He was very professional. Spivey's is on our short list. We are still evaluating quotes.

I called Terry for an estimate, and he made the appointment to come out two days later. He showed up on time at 11:00am. I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. He answered all of my questions on prep work, rotted wood repairs, priming, protecting the landscaping, and so on. His estimate was right on target. We agreed to have the work done by Mr Spivey but a sudden roof leak occurred the following week! So a new roof became our top priority last Fall before the weather turned cold!. We plan to have the exterior painting done this summer with Spivey Premier Painting. I will submit a follow -up review on the results when that painting is completed.

Things got off to a fine start. I emailed Mr. Spivey on Tuesday 4/22/15, and he responded saying that he would call me the next day (Wednesday 4/23/15). I spoke with him on Wednesday, and he gave me a rough price to paint our 14 shutters, but stated that he would need to come by our house to check out the site, as well as look at the paint that we already had on hand. He said that he would already be in my area on Saturday (3 days later), so we agreed that he would come between 1-3 pm to give us a quote and schedule the service. I was initially impressed with his responsiveness. Unfortunately, we rearranged our weekend in order to be home during the 2 hour time frame in the middle of a Saturday that he provided to give us the quote. However, Mr. Spivey did not show up, nor did he call to offer any explanation. I hope this is an exception for his business, but I am very disappointed, and will not be using his services now or in the future.

They did a fanstastic job, and were very quick to answer all of my questions. The results were fantastic, and i would use them again in a heartbeat.

Mr. Spivey and his son have painted for us for years so we knew the quality of work they would perform and they did yet another excellent job. They pay great attention to detail and the paint lines are smooth and straight. They listen to requests, provide excellent suggestions, and are very efficient. They are easy to have in our home as they are personable, professional, polite and trustworthy. While they were at our home we gave them a list of things we would like them to do for us when the weather is warmer. Can't imagine using anyone else! We highly recommend Spivey's Premier Painting. .

I was impressed with the owner and we had a good walk-through. He responded quickly, pointing out how he would approach the work. He responded to follow up questions immediately and clearly. I believe this company would do a very good job painting, but they would not be able to tackle some of the repairs I expect we will find we need once we get into this large and involved job. For this reason and because the price was on the high side, I did not award them this business.

Everything was excellent from start to finish.

Vendor was on time for his appointment. Efficient in collecting site data. Had a proposal to us the next day. Chose not to accept the proposal as the price quoted was significantly higher than other bidders of comparable capability. Thought that holding the price good for only seven days while obtaining other bids was too short. Believe 30 days for a decision is more appropriate.

Paid attention to detail and overall great paint job! Will definitely be using again in the future.

These guys were just top notch! They looked at everything and knew what needed to be done. They were good at applying the proper materials. They cleaned up well too. They kept to their schedule and were meticulous. If they ran into a problem, they bring it to you right away. They were very helpful in material selections. My aluminum siding now looks like it just came out of the factory!

It went exactly as I had hoped. Although I was afraid the miserably damp and windy weather would require a cancellation, Mr. Spivey and his son arrived as promised at the time we had agreed to on the previous day. After assuring me that the chemicals they would be using would work fine under these conditions, they went right to work and got the job done as promised. I had asked them to pay particular attention to our shutters, which had a coating of hard-to-remove material that drifts down from our pine trees, and to our gutters, which had a built-up line of dirt along the edge that was preventing rain water from rolling smoothly down into them. They did a great job in both these areas, as well as everywhere else. All of the annoying cobwebs that build up in the fall are gone, the siding and brick are clean and the sidewalks, front porch and back deck not only look good again but are also free of the areas of moss that can make them so treacherous in the winter. As always when we have Spivey's do a job for us, I couldn't be more pleased.

I was washing windows today, and admiring the wonderful paint job, and remembering that I hadn't written a review. Mr. Spivey and his crew did an excellent job with the prep work and the painting. They were prompt and very fast. We wanted to repair and improve some faux beams under the eaves - really empty boxes, some of which had been chewed up by squirrels. While we rebuilt the boxes, Spivey's crew took down the old ones, took measurements we needed, coordinated their painting schedule with our box-building, and replaced the new boxes. All this required a high level of communication between Spivey's and us. We were very pleased with the results and we definitely recommend them.

Terry was very easy to communicate with and was responsive to my requests. The only issues with the project were as follows: -Terry told us that when the job was completed we would receive 1/2 gallon of trim color, 1/2 gallon of deck stain, and 1/2 gallon of siding color. We received close to a gallon of siding color but hardly any of the trim color or deck stain. -We had the siding painted ?ultra white?, a large majority of it looks great, however after a week since it was painted, I have noticed several spots that are either grey or discolored. These spots are only a couple of inches in size, but I notice them. There is also a small portion of the bottom of an exterior door where the paint was thinly applied (overall the door looks great). -There are also a couple of places on the deck where the old color can be seen (1 week since job completion). This is probably due to only having one coat of stain (overall the deck looks very good). Something else to be aware of, and I?m not saying this is a bad thing, is that on my job Terry and another painter completed the work. All told it took them about 4 or 5 work days (10am-6pm) to finish the job (this was spread out over about two weeks time). I was expecting him to show up with a van full of workers and knock it out in one or two days. On a positive note, we had an issue with the water spigot in our back yard after they used it. I brought it to Terry?s attention, and he replaced and fixed the handle himself. Overall we are happy with their work. We give them a 90 out of 100 and would recommend them to others needing exterior paint work. I would use the company again in the future.

I thought the pricing was a little high, but they were the best company I reached out to. A crew of 3-4 came out and completed the job in a few days. The staff did excellent work and were very good with the cleanup afterwards. I had no problem scheduling the service. The only issue there was due to weather.

Estimate was provided promptly, and was flexible about time we could meet. Showed up when promised, and did a nice job. They cleaned up everything when they were done.

The owner came within the week to give me an estimate, including items I didn't even realize needed to be included. They gave me an estimate of when the work would be done. They called prior to starting the work and gave me a time they would arrive at the house. They worked every day until the work was completed. The owner either called me or met me at the house each day to go over what was done that day and to be sure I was satisfied. He made some suggestions about color on a bench they were painting and gave me a preview, which turned out beautiful. Although at first the estimate seemed high, when I realized all the work that was included and that everything received 2 coats of paint, it was well worth the cost. They also scraped any loose paint and primed those areas. I couldn't have been more pleased and the house looks better than it did when it was first built. I would highly recommend Spivey's and have.

This was not in the original quote for the painting I reviewed in Painting - Exterior. This was something added on during the time of painting the exterior of the building. Terry worked on this when he was not able to work on the exterior of the building. He finished both the same day. The unit-owner was very pleased and impressed with Terry's work.

Very satisfied with recent exterior house painting of cedar trim and hardie board siding. Spivey noticed water damage in eave that was missed by other painters when obtaining estimates. He repaired the damage and saved us from future problems. He also caulked around trim and cut in nicely. Very professional job- house looks new!

Mr. Spivey originally gave us a quote in May of 2014. Due to some difficulties on our end, we had to delay the job until August. He kept the same quote and gave us an estimated date to begin services. Due to some weather delays, they started a few days later than anticipated, though he advised us that the dates were dependent on good weather. A week prior to painting, his crew showed up to power wash the entire house. We were amazed how dirty the house actually was. It looked better already. My wife and I debated over a color, a major change from the original light blue to a dark gray with black shutters. I week or so later, Mr. Spivey called us and let us know that he would be starting two days later. He arrived that morning as discussed and he and a crew member started in the trim. They also replaced a piece of soffit/fascia board that needed attention. They were very professional, quiet, clean, respectful. We have two large dogs, and they worked around us and the dogs for three days. Only one of those days required a stay at the kennel. I think initially my wife and I were concerned how dark a gray we chose as it went up on a large portion of the house. We had chosen several shades even darker and Mr. Spivey assured us that the color would pop once the trim and shutters were added. A second coat was added on both Thursday and Friday of that same week, and it looks amazing. A totally different house that looks larger and brand new. My wife and I couldn't be happier. I really believed that I was going to get superior craftsmanship from Mr. Spivey compared to other quotes we received. He was mild-mannered but very knowledgeable. He wasn't pushy. I felt other homes in our area that were recently re-painted looked drab shortly after the crew left. I don't think they paid for quality services like we received from Mr. Spivey. Maybe they saved money, but I feel we got a beautiful home that looks great and will eventually end up on the market at a considerable advantage to us. So pleased with his work, and his crew's professionalism. I would certainly use him the next time we need a home painted.

After having a generally positive first experience with Terry Spivey, we thought we would hire him again to epoxy coat our garage floor. Unfortunately, our second experience was far different. I signed a proposal from him on 4/30/2014 to do the job for $975. His initial work consisted of power-washing the floor, then applying a primer, followed by epoxy coating. We followed all of his instructions and were sure to keep off the garage floor for each stage. After waiting five days we began using the garage again. Within the first two weeks the coating began to peel up, especially in areas where car tires were parked overnight. I contacted him and he agreed to come back out and look at it. I showed him the areas were the epoxy was gone and new areas that were starting to appear. He proposed a four step plan to fix it. Sanding problem areas, applying another coat of primer, another coat of epoxy, and finally sealing it with a clear coat which he said he had skipped the first time around. When the time came to apply the clear coat, my wife showed him areas where the original tire marks were starting to show through again. She told him that she was concerned that the fix wasn’t working and asked what his plan was if it didn’t work. He said he would have to talk to somebody. He said he couldn’t work on it that night (7/18) and would return between 9 and 9:30 the next morning (7/19). He never showed. I left five voicemails over the following week asking him to call me. None were returned. While I give him credit for initially trying to fix the problem, he didn’t follow through on what he said he was going to do. Not showing or returning phone calls is unacceptable. I consider his work to have damaged the garage floor. We will know have to pay someone else extra to remove the epoxy and do the job correctly. We are asking for a full refund. ___________ Update 8/15/2014: I strongly dispute this contractor’s claims in his response. *The day he was scheduled to return to begin attempting a fix to the garage floor, I cleared everything out of the garage, swept it clean, and used hot water and a mop in areas where there was dirt on the floor. We were being nice and trying to minimize the time he would need to prepare the floor for repainting. In other words, the mopping was done hours before he arrived to repaint. This was after he had already come out and witnessed the peeling paint on the floor. When he arrived that evening to begin work on attempting a fix, I explained to him what I did that day to clean out the garage. He gave no indication of concern and I thought seemed appreciative of me getting the floor ready for him. So to claim that this had anything to do with his failed work is ridiculous, and I already stated there were no cars on the floor during his instructed drying time weeks before. *He also claims that he was told not to put the clear coat on. This is not true. My wife told him she was concerned that the original problems areas of peeling were starting to show through again where he repainted. He told her that he would talk to someone about it and promised to return the next morning. Per my original review, he never returned and never returned any of our phone calls. We stayed off the floor at our inconvenience for an additional 7 days while trying to get a hold of him. *The foot prints he mentioned are not relevant to the epoxy failure. They were on a primer coat and occurred after his instructed drying time of 3 days per his written proposal. The floor was still tacky after a number of days and pulled some dirt off the bottom of some shoes. This is the same primer coating he walked on himself a day later to apply the top coat. Again, he indicated absolutely no concern to me at the time about this. *Just a few weeks later, the floor is now peeling again for the second time. If that isn’t considered damaged and a failure, I don’t what is. *He made two visits in his attempted fix before disappearing on us. The first visit he was by himself and used a $53 can of primer from Sherwin Williams and a roller. He was there an hour. The second visit he was there another hour and had a helper. They used up to two cans of $30 epoxy and some rollers. How this cost them an additional $585 when they had approximately $128 in materials is beyond me unless he feels his labor rate is $150 an hour. *The floor is absolutely damaged as it will cost us significant money to have the failed epoxy job removed. No one was looking for a “free paint” job. That’s ridiculous. We just wanted the job done right. He took our $975, disappeared and left us with a mess. *We were always respectful to Mr. Spivey and very patient with him when it was clear that things weren’t going well with his work. I find it upsetting that he would turn around and try to blame his mistakes on us.
