"Thank you for taking the time to share your experience w/ our company. It was a pleasure to work in your home!"
"We are so glad you are happy with our services. Thanks for taking the time to post a review!"
"Whoot Whoot! Angies List does it again! Putting great customers with great contractors. Thanks for the post! We are honored to of worked in your home."
So the team came and setup plastic enclosures to keep the mold contained and started removing cabinets and we found that the damage was far worse than we expected. Once the drywall was gone, we found ant and centipede infestations, etc... it was a nightmare that made us feel like we'd be out of pocket for months and tens of thousands of dollars - but Jason made us feel confident that they'd be able to tackle it, and provided our insurance detailed pictures and information so that we knew everything was going to be covered.
There was a main leak, and then a couple of other problems that attributed to wet wood, so while our kitchen was gutted we were able to handle a lot of those issues - all through either Jason's team or his sub contractors, who were all very on top of things. They did a mold test, we came up negative, and then they started spraying some anti-microbial coating on things and the rebuild started.
Again, we investigated other options on the rebuild, but Jason's other company specializes in the rebuild process - so they were able to set up our kitchen rebuild in quick fashion, and they did a great job getting us up and running - building a custom cabinet in our kitchen to save the old cabinet face and match everything else up. All told, with remediation, delays on our part for investigating other options, delays on our part for having other leaks that caused the affected area not to dry out as fast as we expected, waiting on cabinets to be shipped, and the rebuild - we went from nightmare to 100% back in action in 6 weeks.
I hope we don't need to use 1-800-water damage again - but if we, our family or our friends ever have an issue like this again, I'm glad to know I have a team like this in our pocket that can build us back up.
"Glad we were able to exceed your expectations. HIGH FIVE! Our entire team enjoyed working for you and your family!"
"We are thrilled you are happy with our services! Many thanks to Angie's List for putting great customers like you with great service providers like us. Great Job Angie!"
They took immediate care of everything in the basement; moved furniture out, cleaned up all water and set up fans and dehumidifiers. Everything was cleaned out, stored neatly in a pod in my driveway and the damaged things were thrown away after pictures were taken for my insurance. After things dried, they treated the walls and floor. New carpet was put down by Novals, their construction group, and after my month was finished using the pod, they unloaded all the things and put them exactly where I wanted them.
This company is fantastic. Jason and his group were great and took care of everything that had to be done. I was rather overwhelmed when it happened, but all my worries disappeared and I knew I was in good hands.
Really professional job!
"Thanks for the great feedback! We are thankful for the opportunity to of worked in your home!"

1-800 water damage did not agree with the estimate from Nationwide. In turn, they adjusted their estimate accordingly and got within $199.37 of what Nationwide paid. Their reasoning for the additional amount was was that Nationwide paid for the extra items in other parts of the estimate. I was working with the Nationwide adjuster who had taken a new job within the company, so working with them was slow, and rightfully so. 1-800 Water Damage wanted their $199. I said I was in contact with Nationwide and would be in touch.
Fast forward to a month later after the Nationwide amount was paid, they charged the credit card the difference (199.37) without authorization from me while I was trying to work with nationwide to determine if in fact I had been paid for it. Ironically, upon reviewing it with Nationwide, they were only able to come up with $47.79 that had been previously paid. So sounds like I was scammed out of $151.
Its ultimately my fault for signing the paperwork originally that allowed it - but its pretty shady if you ask me.
I was kind in the original review since they made an effort to get on the same page - which is why I said - make sure everyone stays in contact. Now after the past week(s) events, my only advice out there is to make sure you understand what you are getting into with not only your contractors, but the insurance company as well.
Final thoughts - they did an outstanding job cleaning the mess. Their techs were on top of their game and really care about their work. Jason the owner is first class when it comes to fixing the problem. Unfortunately, they were not on the same page as Nationwide which puts the homeowner in the middle. Nationwide says 1-800 water tried to do too much and 1-800 water says Nationwide wouldn't pay for things they should. It has taken this long to get resolved for several reasons - first it took Nationwide and 1-800 Water over a month to agree to an amount. Then I never received a bill from 1-800 Water until I discovered they hit the credit card for $2,000. When I called about it, I then received it for the first time and also noticed it was $199 higher. Not happy about the $2,000 charge without telling me or getting my authorization. Then I had to wait on Nationwide to get the rest to me. That took some time. Needless to say, it took a while to get them paid. But they were paid.
At the end of the day, its he said she said with the homeowner in the middle. From my experience, Nationwide did a great job with then entire mess, not sure what happened with the water clean up, but it is what it is and I am satisfied with Nationwide. 1-800 water, not so much any more.
Original Review:
Went very well. They did an outstanding job of drying the house and making sure there were no left over wet spots. They were fast, prompt, professional and efficient. They went out of their way to get the job done no matter what it took and were able to respond the same day when others said they couldn't. Jason is on top of his game and knows what he is doing and makes sure the job is done properly.
The only advice I will give to anyone is make sure all parties (you, contractor and insurance company) stay in contact throughout the process to make sure everyone understands what the costs are and who is paying what.
"We take pride in being a company of integrity- so thanks for the candor in your feedback. We are disappointed that we haven't meet your expectations. Equally we are disappointed that your grading of our company went from a "A" to a "C" after the final processing of your credit card for the remaining balance due. We can empathize with situations such as yours and can understand how you might feel that way. What your posting didn't share was that we had discounted our services by >$1000 to accommodate what we feel was an inaccurate settlement of your claim by your insurance carrier. In addition we have documented > 12 voice messages or emails attempting resolution to the settlement of your account which was unpaid for almost 6 months. We'd love the opportunity to help you resolve the $150 portion of your invoice you feel was unfairly charged. It's just a simple returned phone call to us and a 5 minute call to your assigned insurance adjuster."
"It was a pleasure to work for such a nice family. Thanks for the great post & allowing us to work in your home!"
"Thanks for the kind words in your post! It was an honor to work in your home. Angie's List does it again....getting great customers with great contractors! Go Angie!"
I called the office number and was put in contact with the owner, Jason, and he came out the same day to assess the issue (despite this being during the "big freeze" when water damage experts were extremely busy). I explained my children's health issues and Jason was extremely responsive. He explained to me the stages/levels of water damage and the effects on the home environment and health of my family. After thoroughly examining the ceiling area, the carpeting, and sub-flooring with some high-tech equipment, Jason explained the plan of action to me very clearly. After assuring me there was no mold issue in the ceiling, Jason pulled back the carpeting and pad to expose the sub-floor. He sprayed an anti-mold agent onto the wood to ensure no future mold growth. Then he placed fans in the basement and family room to thoroughly dry the sub-flooring. He added an additional filter to the room to reduce any breathing issues my children may have experienced.
Every action or step taken came with an explanation, which I appreciated. I never felt that Jason was doing anything unnecessary or not in my best interest. He explained the process of filing an insurance claim and pointed out some questions I should ask the adjuster; some I would not have thought to ask or mention. Never having filed an insurance claim, I appreciated Jason's experience.
When the claim's adjuster came to the house, Jason came to ensure the process went smoothly and that the adjuster understood the steps Jason took to reduce the claim cost. That was far above and beyond what I would have expected when hiring a service to remedy water damage.
The entire process went smoothly as Jason strove to make the inconvenience of water damage in my home as easy an experience as possible. I would HIGHLY recommend Jason and 1-800 Water Damage to anyone needing this type of service.
"Thank you so much for the thoughtful & detailed summary of our services! It was a pleasure working in your home! GREATJOB ANGIE!"
"Thanks for the great post! Angie's List does it again. Getting great customers with great contractors. Good Job Angie!"
After 4 days, 1-800-Water Damage returned and removed all equipment after they determined the closed spaces had dried.
We highly recommend them to anyone who has either standing water to remove or water damage to treat.
Due to circumstances beyond his control, the owner was delayed by 3 hours, but kept us informed. Very professional. Brought project manager with him so that the person who would be responsible for a "Crew" was on board from the start. Spent a lot of time explaining everything, answering many questions.
Seemed hesitant to give ANY general "what to expect" in terms of
1) on a scale of 1-10, how "bad" is this situation? (can't really answer that...depends)
2) plus or minus a thousand dollars...any idea of what we are looking at? (can't answer that, could get into a lot more after the start of the job.
3) can you complete this job by "x" date? (it depends...)
These are not reasons that I would decided NOT to use him. He may just be the only "honest" guy out there. Not sure I am comfortable too many "non-answers".
Definitely seemed very trustworthy.
Will write more when/if we hire him for the actual job. Expect quote back in 3 days.
"Thanks for the post......We appreciate your feedback. We are regretful we couldn't answer many of your questions during our inspection. It's especially difficult inspecting / estimating a project when the source of moisture hasn't been determined & resolved and our customer isn't the property owner (which would enable us to discuss prior events or contributing factors that may of led to your fungal concerns). Above all, we hope our consultation helped you make an educated decision on how to move forward with your project."
"It was a delight to work it such an amazing custom home! Thank you for the kind remarks! Great Job Angie- putting great customers w/ great contractors alike!"
"Ahhh.....our first "B"! Still on the Deans List though! Thanks for the kind remarks & the opportunity to service your home!"
"Your kind words are much appreciated! Thanks for the opportunity to inspect your home. Good Job Angie!"
NOTE: This business is a local location (franchise??) of a national company. I called the local location directly using the number I found here on Angie's list.
"Thanks for the compliments! It was an honor to work in the beautiful custom home of a decorated military veteran. Thank you for your service to our country! Great Job Angie!"
"Thanks for the opportunity to service your home and for the post! Great job Angie! Another great customer finds outstanding service through Angie's List!"
"Thanks for the kind words & allowing us to work in your home! Angie does it again. Getting great customers w/ great service professionals!"
Keith did a wonderful job performing the work. He was a pleasure to talk to and work with, and took just as much care as Jason to explain the progress of the project. I was really taken by his attention to detail. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to have in my house for a few days!
I'd highly recommend 1-800-Water-Damage to friends and family.
"A great customer to work for! Thanks for the post! Good job Angie!"
