Quality of work 3 out 5 it was not bad Business professionalism 0 out of 5 Record keeping 0 out of 5 I thought the work was good until on September 21, 2010 when I got a certified letter stating that there is a lien on my house from Kenjer. I was never sent a bill. We never knew what the final total was on the water clean up. A few weeks earlier my wife called me at night while I was still at work. She said that a guy was banging on our front door for about five min. We had talked about someone restoring the basement and also talked about someone doing work on our chimney. She asked if I had scheduled someone to come give us an estimate.I told her no and I would let her know if I did. She said the guy was driving a pick up truck and parked in our driveway. Most people park on our street so I thought it was little odd he parked in our drive way. I told her not to answer the door. When I got home I found Kenjer's business card in our door. Kenjer's business card is simple and only has a phone number on it. I explained to her that a few days ago our insurance campany State Farm sent us the Kenjer payment for the basement. At this point I have no address from Kenjer, no bill, and the address on this website is different than the one I finally did receive. I was not sure it was that or that he wanted to remind us that he could restore the drywall in our basement. Either way I do not like guys just showing up with out calling. Specificlly when my wife is home alone. When I got the certified letter I was p*****. I did not like having someone put a lien on my house without me knowing it. I started to write a check and then I decided to check to see the amount the insurance company sent. To my surprice the lien was $797.11 more. I sent the check, letter stating that I wanted the lien removed, and I wanted to know why the difference in the amount. When my wife got home she was mad that the guy did not call her he just placed the lien and so she called him. He explained to her that he tried calling and left a few voice mails. Neither of us had ever recived a call. He said that he would get it corrected. He never would explain to her why he never sent a letter. The next night I received a call from my wife letting me know that this guy showed up again at our house. He never called to let her know he was coming. He just showed up around 8pm. He had to know she was the only one home because just her car was there. I do not like guys just showing up at my house when I am not home. He had his phone bill showing when he called and left a message 7 times. In fact on September 8th he called 5 times 11:46am, 3:43pm, 5:14pm, 6:01pm, and 6:09pm (that seems a little angry). The other two times he called was on September 2nd at 1:09pm and 5:51pm. It is unfortunate he was calling the wrong phone number. At the time that he cleaned our basement he called both myself and my wife. On the original work agreement he had my wife's correct phone number. This is why I give him a zero on his record keeping. I also know that the phone number he repeatedly called had no out going message. While Harmony was doing work on our house I know he called my wife and my cell and had left messages. Both my wife and myself have out going messages on our voice mails. This should have sent off a signal that he was calling the wrong person. I give him Business professionalism 0 out of 5 because at no point in all of this was I ever sent a letter or a bill. I have never worked with a company that did not send a letter, statement, or a bill. It was not until after Harmony was told by State Farm that I was sent the payment that he even tried to contact me. Harmony has worked with State Farm in the past and knows that they send the home owner the check instead of the contractor. Harmony explained to my wife and said after 60 days they put a lien on someone's house. Never in the 60 days did it occur to Harmony to send me a bill. Instead he would rather put a lien on my house. A letter that would have taken two min to write and 44 cent send would have solved this problem and kept me happy. Instead of sending me a letter Harmony felt it was better to drive 20 min to my house. When he showed up he left a business card in the door. The business card has a phone number and no address. I never had an address on anything so I did not know where to send the check. I felt that by Harmony driving over was a form of thinking intimidation to get paid. On the night he drove to my house he had no bill. It also feels like he was trying to be a thug and think we were going to write him a check without a bill. He could have left a note in the door if he did not have a bill. At least he could have let us know. The guy seems like a little pushy and that he can intimidate. If the guy knows I was p***** why would you drive out to my house with your phone bill with out calling. If you know that I am not there why would you even come by my house. I am not sure why he even did drive out. This was a large mistake on his fault and I have yet to receive an I am sorry from him. This guy does not want to say that he was wrong. In business the customer is right and he needs to learn this if he wants to stay in business Not happy and would not recommend
Description of Work: My basement was flooded when we came back from vacation the first week of July. A water pipe broke in my basement and there was about a foot of water in the basement. We had a main sewer line back up in our basement over a year ago and this time my wife called the same agency she did a year ago. We had very good luck before. My wife called this agency and they sent out Kenjer which was a different company than the last time. Kenjer came out rather quickly. On the first day of work we gave them $1,000 deductible before they even started the work. The work took about four days to dry everything out. They did above average work but I thought they took a little longer than they should. They also showed up at odd times but nothing unusual.

Response from Kenjer Restoration
I am writing this email in reguards to a review posted by [member's name removed]. What I will attempt to do is address each item as I go through his statement. 1) Grade for response as a B: In his statement in his own words "Kenjer came out rather quickly." I believe this says enough for itself. 2) "we gave them a thousand dollar deductable before the work was even started; this is false we collect the deductable after the equipment was in place and the unsalvable carpet and pad was removed. 3)Grade of c for quality; once again in his own words"they did above average work" 4)His statement of they took a little longer than they should have; His loss was a catagory 3, this is also called black water, Class 4, special sitiuation this is due to the fact that his walls were plaster plaster is a much more difficult material to dry tham say sheetrock. A standard drying time for carpet or sheetrock is 72 hours. Say 2 24 hours, day 3 48 hours, and day 4 72 hours. For us to dry plaster walls in 72 hours is actually as quick as possible so this statement is false. These facts can be verified with any IICRC certified firm or even the S500 quide. 5) Showing up at odd times; we showed up in the morning between 8 and 9 why he finds this odd is beyond me. 6)Was never sent a bill; complete false statement in fact 2 bills were sent out one to the insurance provider and one to the home owner in fact when the home owner received the payment from State Farm they have the amount to be paid to us posted on there as well. 7) Stopping by customers home 1st time; we did show up there and knocked on the door. This was done because we had placed numerous phone calls to the number the customer had given us and had had no response. Maybe there number had changed or they had lost there phone. we had done this in hopes to advoid placing a lien on there home. 8)Our business card is simple and only has phone mumber on it; I wouldn't call it simple but it is not extremely flashy. The card that was left was mine because I am the one that went there. It is white with our name logo and catch phrase centered at the top, it has my name on it to the left with our office number my cell number and my email address to the right it has our emerengcy service numbers for North and South on the back it has our logo to the right and to the left a list of services. 9)The address on our website is different than the one he finally received; this is a false statement the address on our website is the same one that it has always been since his job was done. 10) Him stating he does not like guys just showing up when he is not home. I showed at approximately 5:30pm I know this because i was around the corner that day finishing another job, and again we did this to try and advoid placing a lien in case there was some miscommunication. 11) Them being upset that I did not have the answer they were looking for when they called; they had called my cell phone not our office I do not and it would be impossible to carry every job file around with me if they had contacted our office they could have received the answer. 12)Going to there home a 2nd time; I had gone a 2nd time the reason is I had received a nasty gram from the home owner and they had placed bad reviews about us on yahoo. I went there with our phone logs to show them both husband and wife that we had tried to attempt to contact them numerous times. That was there main complaint on yahoo. I never want to leave a customer unhappy and it was a attempt to resolve this issue.\ 13)"knowing" he was not home; this is just a attempt to make us look like thugs that prey on women it would be impossible to know who drives what at all of our customers homes. 14) His complaint about us calling the wrong number and that we had called them both and that we had the correct number; I never have to this date ever spoke with the member this is because I was never given his number we did call his wife the 1st day after we were there she then gave us a phone number that we wrote on our cover sheet that has all contact information our customers want us to use. 15)a red flag from not hearing a outgoing message; this again is a ridiculous claim how would I possibly remeber what messages if any our customers have on there phones, I call or receive at least 30 calls a day at times. 16)Not until State Farm had told us that he received payment did we attempt to contact him; false we had mailed them a bill before hand, we did not try and call because State Farm had given us the impression that they would mail us the payment since we had a direction of pay in our certificate of completion that the home owner had signed. 17) Knowing how State Farm pays claims; State Farm has recently changed there policy on paying claims, I have been doing this work for 15 years and can remeber many times that State Farm has paid the contractor and many times when they have paid the homeowner. So as I am sure you can see, I you make numerous attempt to contact a customer, if you go to there door and see them look out the window at you and not answer. You may assume they are trying to advoid you. You may as a smart business man protect your intrest in receiving payment by placing a lien on the property till all things can be sorted out. The member had received payment for the work we had done on August 20th. Instead of him telling us about this it is my beleif that he was hoping we would "forget" about us. As you can see the only thing he is unhappy about when it boils down to it is us placing a lien on his home thus forcing him to pay us. I can provide documentation that collaberates our story. The lien has not cost him a dime more than the total of the job the bill is the same as it was when it was completed. Sincerly, Harmony Waitukaitis
