A-Tri-County Lock

I called expecting to schedule a serviceman in the next week or two. Was told someone could be at the house in 1/2 hour. Asked if that would necessitate an extra charge and told it was just part of their service, no extra charge. Rep was very professional and completed work within 1 and 1/2 hours. I am extremely pleased with the service provided. Got keys made at no charge due to Angie's List referral and that paid for the cost of being a member of Angie's List. Thanks!!!!

Jay and Aaron were incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and helpful. Aaron arrived in the evening on the day I called for service. Jay joined him shortly after in order to aid him in modifying the patio door mentioned above. They stayed till about 11 PM in order to make sure that the entire job was finished in one service appointment. They were polite, non-intrusive, and absolutely professional in how they went about their work. I would recommend them to family and friends who are looking to have work done by a locksmith. These are guys you can trust to get a job done properly!

I spoke to John on the phone a couple of times to discuss our non-emergency projects. He helped us with the how do we get started on our projects info, etc. We purchased a new front door lockset for the aesthetic value, however, we certainly feel that we have also gained extra security. Jay is the one who returned my phone call when I called to schedule an appointment. We had not initially been in any kind of a hurry for this work, however the exterior painters' schedule changed that. We had about a 36 hour window to get the lockset on the door that was being painted. Jay was incredibly accommodating and came over the same evening to get the lockset installed. While the change in lockset was not drastic, there was still sufficient customization needed that made me very glad I had hired someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Jay. The front screen/storm door had never worked correctly from the time we bought the house, and Jay fixed that. He noticed that the carpenter who recently installed a new garage access door and lockset, had installed part of the mechanism upside down, which Jay explained is not that unusual as there is a special tool that typically only locksmiths have that allow them to install it properly. We asked that a new deadbolt be put on our back door, and that if possible, we would like one key to open all three doors. No problem. Jay took care of that as well. And made (and tested) extra keys we needed. At each juncture Jay asked questions to determine what we needed and offered options for us to consider. All in all, it was a lot of excellent work for what my husband and I thought was a very fair price.

I had to change the deadbolt on my front door. Initially it was somewhat hard to get hold of this guy - I called him a number of times and left a message and he didn't return. When he finally did return my call he came out right that day - even though it was something like 5.30/6 o'clock at night and fixed it. The work he did was fine. He was a character, you could be offended by his behavior or amused by it. He obviously knew a lot about locks and wasn't shy about telling you about it. He wasn't insulting or anything, the bottom line is he fixed it!

Great! We have only positive things to say.

Jay was the locksmith I spoke to on the phone, he came out and inspected my lock, explained he could clean it and lube it, replace the older screws with longer ones to make it sturdier and safer, instead of replacing it like I feared it would need. Save me lots of money! He was friendly, made me feel relaxed and I'd recommend him to everyone.

The repairman came the same day after I called. It took less than an hour to correct the problem.

Called Jay for a non-emergency lock replacement and he came the same day at 8 p.m. Very prompt and courteous and I would call him again.

I didn't have any problems, I think he did a good job.

I almost panicked when I couldn't open and get out of my house by the door I always use because the handle/latch mechanism wouldn't release. ( I did not need a lock repair.) I called Jay and he came within 90 minutes because I had to go to work and didn't want to leave the door propped open while I was gone. He found a way to make it workable so I did not have to replace the whole handle mechanism. He did not promise it will last forever but it's operable for now until I can special order a new handle for my very old, thicker- than-average, door. Jay was knowledgeable, pleasant, fast and, most importantly, the door opens.

Called A-Tri-County Lock on Christmas eve night service was prompt efficient and reasonably priced. We were very happy and reliable to be able to get in to the home again and feed the cats.

Jay Cheyfitz did an excellent job. He is very knowledgable & professional. He stayed & worked until all of the tasks were accomplished. I will definitely call him again for any future locksmith issues.

Although we appreciated the fact that A-Tri-County Lock could come to our new home to rekey our locks the same day we called, we were a bit put off by the gruff personality of the locksmith who arrived to assist us. He was not particularly friendly or communicative and didn't seem to want to answer many questions we had about the rekeying process. Although he did his work fine and rekeyed the locks so they worked, providing the newly-made keys for our locks, it would have been preferable that the locksmith be a little friendlier and willing to answer our questions without the attitude. There are so many companies to choose from out there that making a poor impression by having a bad attitude rarely wins many future customers.

Called Jay the day before our closing for an estimate, then called him back after we closed on the home to see if he was available that day/evening. Jay gave me a "window" of time, all dependent on how long he would be at the job right before us. When he arrived (9:45pm), he first wanted to look at all of the locks we wanted changed/rekeyed. Jay also showed us how a couple of the locks were not securing properly, so he fixed those. We also had Jay change 2 doorknobs without locks to ones with locks. All locks were rekeyed the same. The total price was a little higher than the original quote, but that was due to the extra work/materials. How can you put a price on securing your home? This was money well spent. If I ever need locksmith services again, I will call Jay.

Just took possesion on a house we purchased. Called Jay the night before closing for an estimate. Spoke with Jay again once we got into our home and he gave an estimate of 2 hours as he had 2 jobs ahead of us. He did say that the job right before us may take longer than he estimates, as he was unsure of how big the problem was. He did make to us after a 4 our wait, but it was worth it. Jay changed all of the locks in the home we just purchased. In addition, he had parts/supplies to change a bad knob/lockset on 2 doors, as well as ensuring that all of the doors/locks fit correctly with the strike plates, as some of the latches were not securing properly. Jay explained everything as he went along, was personable but also professional. He spent just over an hour working a total of 7 lock cylinders and after he rekeyed everything to the same key, he had me go check all of the locks/keys to my satisfaction for secureness, etc. Having a secure home, particularly for times when I'm away and my wife is home alone, is priceless. This was money well spent. If I ever need locksmithing again for any reason, I will call Jay again.

It was a pleasure to deal with this truly excellent and experienced company! Jay answered my questions with patience, and response time was very fast. I called in the morning, and he came to my house the same day. I needed a few locks replaced and/or re-keyed immediately for 'peace of mind', since our keys were stolen. Pricing was more than fair as well. I would not hesitate to use Jay's services again and again, and he and his company come highly recommended!

I have used some others in the past. I think he is reliable and does a good job. I would use him again.

They came the same day I called them. I feel the value was good. They told me the door was not striking properly so they fixed that without me asking. They also talked to me about keying all the locks so one key fit all of them.

Jay was very meticulous in his work. He was able to accommodate my work schedule by coming on a weeknight and worked very diligently till nearly midnight to get everything done. He is extremely knowledgeable about his trade, and took the time to let me use the keys in the locks to be sure they worked to my satisfaction. To my complete surprise, Jay even brought in a small hand vac and cleaned up all the leaves and debris that had blown into the vestibule while he was working on the 2 front doors! That is really customer service! Jay is a true professional, and I would not hesitate to use him again. I now have a locksmith I can rely on.

My wife and I were out of town and my daughter had come up from college to house-sit the dog. The garage door was inoperable and she didn't have a key to the front door. Neighbors with spare keys weren't around. I called Jay and he said he would be there in 25 minutes (he was at another house a number of miles from ours and the weather was pretty bad). He was there promptly and was able to get my daughter in the house (much to the dog's relief). Jay was polite, prompt, professional and reasonable. I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

For the first visit, they came out at 10pm because we had locked ourselves out of the house. They came within an hour and got us in by crawling into an unlocked window. Very professional, kept us updated about timing. The charge for that visit was a $70 service fee. The second time, we were in a hurry to install a lock on a bathroom door before company arrived. Jay came out at 10pm at night (we would have waited for a daytime appointment, but he was out working anyway, he said) and installed a new lockset, accommodating all of our requirements (locks that are easy to open from the outside in case children lock themselves in). He could not have been more accommodating and professional. I would definitely recommend this company. They really try to please.

It went very well. We moved into a new home and had the locks changed. Set up a date and Gene arrived on time and was very professional. He made suggestions that really helped a lot. He had also called ahead of time to get a better understanding of what we needed and to make sure he had the correct supplies on hand. I would use this company again. We are very pleased with the quality of the hardware that was installed.

I called for an appointment to have all my locks replaced. Spoke to Jay. Very professional on the phone, took the time to explain the policy of using unmarked vehicles and how the technician would arrive and identify himself. Got a same day appointment! Received a callback within the promised timeframe letting me know Mr. Rowland would be arriving. All 3 door frames were chiseled and locks put in correctly and quickly. All 4 keys made, work fine. Overall, everyone was friendly and professional and I would recommend them.
