He arrived on time and was well prepared. We walked through the house for a visual inspection while I pointed out areas that I thought might be problem areas. Scott did the same for me pointing out areas that he thought would be issues and required correction. He installed and calibrated the blower door apparatus. Once it was started we walked around the house observing the display and taking pictures with his infrared camera. He took dozens of photos. As we proceeded we discussed what we were seeing and how to implement corrective action to resolve the problems. Scott, did a great job in an un-hurried manner and was very free with information and suggestions regarding corrective actions and what we were seeing on the camera. Shortly after the day of the test he emailed me a report that summarized his findings and suggestions on how to take corrective action. I now know that I have some work to do to better seal my house. I am sure that once I have done as much as I can I will have him back to perform a second audit to see where we stand at that time. Scott, was very professional I highly recommend Westoff services!

I worked with Scott Easton, who presented himself very professionally. He was very quick in setting up the blower door and making the assessment of the house while the blower was running. He prefers to walk the homeowner around the house while using the thermal camera to instruct the homeowner likely and actual leaks. Very helpful. I hired this company prior to having a new furnace and AC unit installed so I could better understand how to size those components. This energy inspection gave me enough information to feel comfortable with the sizing suggested by one of the HVAC contractors I had in. Scott found several significant leaks around the house (around two windows, the fireplace and an unused water heater flue that I thought I had successfully capped. Those three fixes were easily attended to by my wife and I and the living room was noticeably more comfortable this past winter by the window. This increase in comfort alone was worth the cost. Scott also identified some areas in the kneewalls that were under-insulated (Westoff could address this work), but also found that the insulation that I had had blown into the walls 15 years ago was still doing it's job. I found the whole visit much more of an educational experience rather than a sales pitch for additional services. I have not had the knee wall work done, but will in the near future, and will most likely hire Westoff to do it. The level II inspection also is to include a visual survey of the ducting system - I didn't find this of much value as my ducting is pretty simple. A ducting capacity test and or leakage test would have been more interesting. The output from the visit was a report on the home. This was delivered very late - Scott later told me that he had thought it went out with my invoice, but it had not. He was quick to get the document to me, after I called asking about it. The report itself I found interesting, but less informative than I was expecting. I don't know if it is typical for this industry, or my expectations were just out of line. Along with the report came copies of the Thermal images pasted into a word document. This section was confusing as the locations of the images were not noted, nor were there any comments on the images to describe good / deficient conditions. These conditions are discussed during the walk through, but I'm not an expert, so I didn't remember all of his comments, and I didn't have the expertise to interpret these images on my own. This is not necessarily critical of Westoff or Scott, but a critique on what would make this report more valuable for homeowners such as myself. Overall, I'm happy to have had this work done. I would recommend this type of audit for homeowners looking for the least expensive way to decrease heating and cooling bills - plugging leaks.

Scott responded within a reasonable time to my initial call. We made an appointment for a few days later. Scott never showed up nor called to reschedule. I have not heard from him to date. If he doesn't care enough to come for an estimate, I question the attention he would give the job if I hired him.

He was very professional and friendly and did not scoff at the small jobs we were requesting. We will definitely have him out again.

Scott called me the same day that I filled out a form on his web site for service. I didn't need the work done for two weeks but he had a cancellation and was able to come out two days later. He asked good questions about the roof (shingle type, height, etc.) so he could bring the right equipment. The rain cap my husband purchased was an adjustable one. Scott didn't feel comfortable just sticking it on there (it could blow away or fall off) and went down to Schreiner Ace Hardware where the rain cap was purchased to get their advice on how to best hold it in place. Scott had done a similar job for another house and advised if we noticed a sewer smell in the backyard during the summer we should have the rain cap raised as the smell would mean there wasn't enough ventilation. Before he left he told my husband about the other services the company offers.

I had gone on vacation and he stayed and finished the job, even though I wasn't there. He told me that I could pay him when I got back. He gives a lot of very useful advice on things that you can do yourself and things to improve the house. He also fixed my doorbell at no additional charge.

I highly recommend Scott. He was patient and knowledgeable with all of my questions during the audit. His inspection was thorough. We have a room of our house that was 61 degrees this past winter and after spending $200 trying to fix the room, it was time to call the expert. Scott found a major air leak and an area of missing insulation to explain the cold room. I would never have found those spots and could have spent who knows how much with my hit-or-miss fixes. Now I can concentrate on the needed fixes in this room and the rest of the house.
