OTS is an environmental services company based in Columbus, Ohio that focuses on asbestos, lead, mold, radon, water related and other environmental issues.
Not happy with the service provided, I Won't recommend to anyone who wants something done professionally, Not happy with the scheduling, didn't put covers on their shoes, left marks everywhere. The sump pump viewport looks horrible, they act like they didn't know what I'm talking about.

I am very pleased with the services performed by OTS. Bless my late Mother, but she was a bit of a pack-rat. The basement of her home was crammed with 40+ years of "stuff," and the other companies I contacted were concerned with possible mold contamination of the items due to the musty smell of the basement. OTS had no such reservations. Justin, Jake, and their crew hauled everything out of the basement into a 20-yard dumpster, and generally cleaned the area. OTS did in a day what would have taken me a week or more to haul everything and clean out the area. Well worth the money.

From start to finish all high quality professional work, couldn’t be happier!! Sealed two crawl spaces and kept pipes & fans inside, ran vent through garage roof. From outside the house there is nothing to indicate the work was done, no unsightly fan & pipe running up the side of the house!!

I got three estimates to install the radon mitigation system, and OTS came out as the cheapest (especially given that only one suction point was needed; other companies immediately gave me an estimate for two). OTS technicians were prompt and courteous, and the work was done as promised.
Description of Work: First, I needed to have the radon levels in my house checked. OTS tested for radon and the result was that the levels were too high (9.4 pCi/l). After getting an estimate (also from other companies), I then hired OTS to install a radon mitigation system (only one suction point was needed). A re-test of the radon levels in my basement showed that the levels are now at 0.4 pCi/l, so at acceptable levels.

Over the two years since the system was installed, we noticed that noise from the fan had become noticeable inside the house. We called to ask them to check it out, and within two days Larry (one of the technicians) was there and agreed that there was a problem. Within a couple more days, he swapped out the fan -- wow, what a difference! Problem solved, and no charge (the fan was under warranty). Quick, professional service. We're happy.
Description of Work: OTS installed a radon reduction system two years ago when we purchased our home. They recently replaced the fan.

I was very specific about what I wanted to keep it out of my way and everything and they kept it out of my way. I thought they were cheap and they were out right away. They were great. It was very neat, no jagged holes everywhere and they were very precise on everything.

I called Ohio Technical Services for Radon mitigation at my home. They promptly responded and came for initial visit right on time. They inspected and then sent me contract paper with price and work to be done. Once we scheduled, they came on right time and installed Fan in attic since we had passive system (so all pipes were already in place) and sealed all the crawl space. They left the Radon level testing meter in the basement for a week and then provided me the result next day. pci level of 0.9. I like the prompt response via phone and also on the emails. They completed the work as promised and right on time.

Description of Work: OTS came at the exact time that they said they would, walked through the plans for implementing the system, took the time to explain the process and answered all my questions. They also came in $400 less than the other two offers. The results have come back and they lowered my radon levels from 18 to 2.2. Overall this was a very good experience.

Though I was a bit hesitant, the installation went really smoothly. The technicians were super professional but also friendly. They arrived on time and the installation took less time than they had originally estimated, so that was just about the best possible outcome. The system was more noticeable than I originally imagined, but I honestly had no idea what to expect. I went outside to see the exterior portion of the work (the system vents the radon from the basement up over the roof) and it looked clean and professional. (Thankfully, a beautiful pine tree hides our system from view when driving by the house.) I assume their prices reflect market rate, though I did not personally shop for this company. My spouse and I just bought this home and the seller paid for the radon remediation as a term of the sale. She was pretty savvy, so I assume she shopped around and found $850 to be a pretty good price. The only point of hesitation I have in using them again (which, I shouldn't ever have to, now) would be how far out they were booking when I called to make my appointment. I think the time between my scheduling call and my actual appointment was approximately nine (9) weeks. Radon, as you may know, is the second leading cause of lung cancer and our levels were very, very high. I realize that exposure must be prolonged and intensive for radon to cause such a problem, but who wants to take that chance? Nine weeks was about eight weeks too long for my comfort when I knew I would be making such frequent basement runs right after moving in. Overall, I was very satisfied with their work and I hope that the radon levels fall in proportion to the seeming professional quality of the installation. This is one of those wait-and-see kind of things for the final verdict, but I'm very happy thus far.

Larry, the tech, was awesome. He was on time and did a great job installing the system. He informed me of every step in the process and made sure the system was hidden as much as possible. Other staff were not as timely. The first of three appointments didn't show up and the last appointment to pick up the testing machine was late, but Larry's work was great. I would use the company again if he was the tech.

Scheduling on the first time went fine. I had a couple of problems in terms of my sump pump continuing to run and I had to have them come out and fix that I think twice and they took a long time to come pick up the sensors after they installed it. I don't think they ever called back and gave me the number that it was right after the mitigation system was installed. I think they were there mostly on time.

The work was great quality. In the condo they had to run the pipe internally from the basement, through the garage, and into the attic. There was a lot of custom work involved. They put in measuring equipment to measure levels over a 4 day period and sent the results. They came out when they said they were going to and clearly knew what they were doing. Their price was very reasonable and was the lowest of the 4-5 companies that we received quotes from. Their lower price in no way comprimised the quality of the work.
Description of Work: We used them at our house and later our condomenium to do Radon mitigation.

It went really well. They arrived prior to 8 am when they were expected and went right to work. We are from Northeast Ohio where the ground is more clay than porous soil so radon was a non-issue for us there. Here in Columbus and central Ohio the soil is great for growing plants, grass, and trees, but not so much for keeping radon gas in the ground. The owner had told my husband that we could choose where to locate the pipe that pulls the radon gases from the subfloor in the basement. He suggested that our garage with crawl space would be a great spot to locate the fan and just have the pipe extending through the roof. It was an excellent suggestion. The job took 4 hours and they set up the radon test equipment before they left. When they returned several days later, they said we do not pay until we receive the results and their invoice. We were delighted to see how improved our radon level was! From "unacceptable" (any reading above 4 pCi/L is considered to be unacceptable) to a 0.5 pCi/L reading. Other quotes ranged from $2300 to the $1300 quoted by OTS. We are more than pleased to recommend them to everyone. Our neighbors are now saying that they should get their homes evaluated too.
Description of Work: We bought a home that needed radon mitigation. We negotiated with the seller that if they did some repairs, etc. that we would choose and pay for radon mitigation of our choosing. We sought four companies to provide review and quotes. Our realtor actually gave us the name of Ohio Technical Services and in fact got a quote/review of property prior to closing. It turned out to be our best choice. At first we were hesitant to go with the lowest quote in the belief that we might not be getting a quality job. We had the owner come out and do a full explanation of what his company would do. My husband was very impressed with everything that he was told. Our radon levels dropped significantly from 14 to 0.5 after the crew did their excellent job.

somehow the installation schedule was messed up, it was scheduled to be in the morning, when I called I was told the installer will come to do the installation in the afternoon. so I left home to work, but an half hour later, the installer called by saying he was at my door step, I rushed back home.the insallation took less than 30 minutes, as the passive system is only can be seen from attics, it is very hot there. The installer did not want to install the indicator. I asked for an indicator and wanting to install it myself… for the retest, it was surpose to be end at following Friday but the installer came to pick up the equipemnt in following Tueday, and I do not think I got formal report for the re-test. I got the invoice without formal re-test report, called to the office, and was passed arond between Ken and the office. finally I got the report via email. when I asked to install the indicator, the installer told me it can not be done, as the pipe is not in vertica . but I went to the attics installed the indicator myself, it works well. however, the owner of the company is very friendly...
