Description of Work: I sent an email requesting a consultation for deck lighting mid-July. A technician called several days later, and we made an appointment for July 25. An hour and a half before the appointment time, the technician said that he needed to re-schedule because he had an emergency. He had to go to a home without electricity. He asked if he could re-schedule for July 27. I had no problem with re-scheduling. I appreciated the phone call, but I said I preferred to re-schedule for July 30. A second appointment was scheduled for July 30. He said that he would be sure to be there. On July 30, he did not show up or call.

Description of Work: We have worked with the House Doctors for the past few years. While I don't frequently write reviews, the diversity and quality of their work compels me to write a few comments. Over the past 3-4 months, we actually had 2 major projects with him (amount spent reflects both these projects). The first was concern that our back screened in porch was sagging a bit, with the brick wall underneath it clearly falling apart in some areas. They had to remove that brick, get in under the porch, and replace some support studs. They then rebricked the wall (looks great), and we also had them fix some of the bricking in the adjacent patio. They also repainted the entire porch. The most recent job was repairing a bedroom ceiling that was cracking/falling apart in several places (did a textured ceiling which now looks excellent). They also repainted the bedroom, and then did significant outdoor work, including replacing/ repairing wood on front of garage doors, repairing some stucco, and repainting garage doors, and kitchen porch, kitchen door, and outside of screened in porch. Overall, they are great to work with. Mike seems to be taking over the business from his dad, and is easy and very responsive to work with. The guys who came out (Jim and Mark) were also very easy to work with, responsive, and kept the place clean after what was necessarily a messy job. Will definitely be using them again.

Description of Work: Our mailbox was damaged during the night and I called the next business day and they came out to replace it for us. I purchased my own mailbox and they managed to pull out the old wood stand and install a new one that was treated, cemented it into place, and were finished within about 45 minutes. They are terrific! House Doctors are my family handyman and they are fantastic. They are local and are very quick to respond, which is a big plus in their favor.

Description of Work: I had several violations from city which needed to be corrected including extensive work on my garage including replacing wood siding, securing the soffit and painting entire garage. Also chimney repair and painting wood storm windows. The front dormer soffit was replaced with a new wood one and vents. My contact person, Mike, was easy to talk with, clearly wrote up in contract form what I was asking for and gave me a copy. He was professional, responsible; the work started on the datewe agreed to and was finished in a timely manner. Mike was receptive to fixing a minordetail I questioned. Good job done. The experience was satisfying and I would definitely use The House Doctors again and refer others to them. Jean Serkownek

Description of Work: . The unit is 22 years old. The siding was rotting an the shingles were in worse shape. Peter and his crew sided and roofed the 10ft by 10 ft storade unit. I am very satisfied with the craftsmanship and the explanation of the work that was to be done through completion. I will use them in the future.

Description of Work: Gave a quote that was outrageous. To repair the roof, I could have spent as much as he quoted for a new one. Also wanted to do grout work in kitchen for 650- it didnt cost me that much to originally put the floor in. Hey at least he was going to fix the gate for free-how nice.

Description of Work: Can't remember the cost. total house cleaning; I had just had surgery and prior to the surgery had been unable to do much cleaning due to my illness/pain. My house needed a good cleaning. The girls were excellent cleaners. Hard workers. Left my house sparkling. Used them twice. Would use them again if the need arose.

Description of Work: Tammy and one assistant arrived on time as scheduled for our first appointment and asked whether I simply wanted an estimate or would I like them to go ahead and clean the house. We discussed the hourly rate and what they would be doing, which is essentially clean everything, even strip the beds if I wanted them to, and I agreed they should start cleaning today. They are very professional, bring all of their own products, tools, vacuums, dusters, mops, etc., and got right to work. They are very careful as they work and abide by my wishes regarding dusting fragile items and artwork. Tammy's company is insured and she and her staff are bonded. I am very satisfied, to say the least! I would highly recommend this company!

Description of Work: The wokers tore off the second floor upper dormer and hauled away all the debris. 3 sheets of ply wood was replaced. They ice-guarded, installed underlayment and tore down roofing to the entire dormer

Description of Work: They acted like they did not have time to do the estimate or the work. They were only interested in the roof work that I had. This was to add a new addition as well. This was for gutters and siding as well.

Description of Work: cancelled an appt. no reschedule. just showed up one day unannounced to give us an estimate while we already hired another company . he had additional services, and we wanted a quote on a split rail fence. was to get back with us for an estimate, again no call back. business must be pretty good.

Description of Work: 10/11/2011 Called and did not get a return call. Professionals will at least call you back indicating that they are unable to perform the services at the given time.

Description of Work: I contacted The House Doctor regarding repair work on my wooden garage door and tuck pointing or rebuilding my front porch steps. They called back promptly but we couldn't schedule because my husband wasn't available and I needed his schedule to set an appointment. Bob said his son Mike would call later that evening. He did call a few days later. My husband called back and spoke with a different person. They scheduled an appointment for someone to come to our home to look at the job and give us an estimate. We both took off work to be present. After we waited two hours for someone to come we realized that they were not coming. There was no telephone call to reschedule or tell us they weren't coming.

Description of Work: I have The House Doctors clean the gutters and downspouts on my house and detached garage every year. I have many trees with their maple airplanes and "wormy" things coming down. One year I forgot and had little maple trees growing in my second floor gutters. If they find anything loose, they reattach it. This year they needed to replace a rotted fascia board that was the length of my house. I have a two-story house that previous gutter cleaners refused to even consider doing.

Description of Work: We came back after a 2 weeks vacation to flooded basement. After reviewing Angies list for water damage abatement service providers with grade "A" record I called the House Doctors and left 1 voice mail message for Bob and once spoke to Maria on phone. She promised me that Bob or Mike will call soon. I had requested help to initiate abatement emergently to limit further ongoing water damage. After waiting for several hours I called again and left a voice mail requesting at least someone to call us to let us know if someone will be able to come the same day or not. No one called back. Finally in the evening I looked up Angies list again and called another provider. Within 2 hours, they had communicated with our insurance company, and had 2 people working in our basement. As a basic courtesy, next day, I called Maria (at the House Doctors) and updated her that another company had started fixing our basement. I did that so Bob or Mike would not waste their time in case they were planning to visit us. The following day, Mike called me and asked me if I still needed work done on the basement. Frankly I am perplexed at their utter lack of professionalism. From their other reviews on Angies list we expected better.

Description of Work: I called over a month ago for an estimine for repairs to have some gutter work done and other odd jobs. After two weeks of not hearing from him I called again. I left a message on his machine. I didn't hear from him for about a week. I reminded him of our conversation. But he had never gone to the house to even see what was wrong. He said it would be another week or so before he could go out to see it. Finally, last week he called to say what he saw and the repairs that were needed. (I thought that the cost was very high, for just one side of the house was going to cost over $835.00 This was for 44 feet of facia board and 23 feet of gutters.) Needless to say I will not be using his services.

Description of Work: The site said I would receive an e-mail response within 24 hrs. I have not heard from them and it has been 5 days. They should not say they will respond within 24 hrs if this is not true! Not sure if I would contact them again

Description of Work: I have hired House Nurse to clean our house on a weekly basis. We have 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms large ktichen, family room , living , dining. The house is usually in need of a through cleaning having two teenagers. They are timely, professional and do a good job cleaning. I would recommend them.

Description of Work: I contacted this service provider on multiple occasions and left messages each time. I never received a call back. I had hoped to use their service because of the good ratings, but with their lack of professionalism in returning calls, I am glad now to be selecting another company.
