 + -1 moreInitial contact and emergency door repair was done well. Communication was good as far as the emergency door repair. When it came time to tackle the difficult water damage, communication was not good. To Angie's list members, If you have extensive water damage contact a great roofer to get to the heart of the problem. I was very pleased with Klemenc. The main problem I had with Heights Enterprises was with an ongoing query into repairing the water damage which was extensive. In this case it was all talk and no action. I was told the work could start after another job and would entail a few days of "poking around" to determine the extent of the damage. Unfortunately Heights Enterprises never called when they said they would but didn't turn the difficult job down by word of mouth or contract. I was left hanging during good weather when it would have been possible to do the repair.
Description of Work: Emergency repair to back door involved refitting the back door in an area that had substantial water damage. Work was done in a very timely fashion which was helpful. Installed a storm door for a premium price but didn't screw the bottom door plate on both sides. There was no screw hole on the one side and the brass door bottom guard fell down when I opened the door. My dog was able to damage the door because of this. The project was supposed to continue with sun porch and roof repair and Heights Enterprises did come over to look at the problem which was in an obvious emergency condition when they repaired the door. I was told by H.E. that the removal of extensive water damage could be done in April so that repairs could proceed at that time. Later, this past Spring, H.E. called me to discuss the repair of my extensive water damage. H.E. came to my house and we discussed the damage and my hopes to repair vs. renovate. H.E. proposed coming over in a few weeks to examine the damage further. Also proposed a time frame to start work when the current job they were doing was finished. To Angie's list members, If you are considering working with Heights Enterprises please notice that the original work was done fairly well and in a timely fashion. The biggest problem was in the stringing me along with appointments and communication that they would be able to do the very extensive water damage work in the near future. Proposed contacts were not followed through by this company. After emails were not answered by H.E through their web site I called Klemenc Roofing and they had a carpenter do the demolishing of damage and brought in a roofing team to put in an LVL to jack up the back of my house and totally replace the roof over the kitchen. The work was done extremely well and I was glad I never heard from Heights Enterprises. As far as repairing my extensive water damage in my house, Heights Enterprises talked the talk but didn't walk the walk. To H.E. I would say if you can't do something don't put a difficult repair on hold. It's rude, inconvenient and even possibly dangerous.

 + 0 morePrice given was for the job, itself. We paid for tiles, vanity, sink, faucets and vent duct work and accessories. Vent work was quoted at $59/hour and was done in speedy manner. He sawed out board sections in attic, replaced the duct work and reinstalled the board sections as they were before. Very pleased! No more birds in attic or cold air entering the space behind the walls Bathroom work was quoted at $850. Tile resulting floor was very solid; Used backer board and lots of nails A couple tiles had sharp corners. Mr. Pullen was responsive in making them right. The radiator in the crowded corner could not be removed to tile the tight space due to winter. I said that the dark space would be not visable anyway. He did that area anyway which was very labor intensive with the patterned mosaic tile (one small piece at a time). He ordered the tiles and tile materials and delivered them. The entire job was excellent. I have used him before and will do so again.
Description of Work: The job had 2 parts and was a bathroom makeover. Part 1: Repaired the bathroom vent. Part 2: Re-tiled the bathroom floor, installed the vanity and sink.

 + 0 moreEverything went excellent. He was able to take floorboards out of the attack to get to it. He put in a new vent duct to keep the birds out. Everything was put back perfectly. I was very pleased. In our bathroom project, he also did a very good job. He gave good guidance.
Description of Work: He repaired a bathroom vent. He replaced the tile on the bathroom floor and put in the new bathroom vanity sink.

 + -1 moreThey were very responsive to our phone calls. They came out, checked it, and did the work on time, but unfortunately there was some problem with the rewiring that they did. It had not been completely resolved not through any fault of theirs, but just because we have cold weather and snow. They are not really able to complete it, but we have a verbal guarantee from them that they are going to come back out and get the work completed as soon as possible.
Description of Work: We used Heights Enterprises a month and a half ago. We hired them to repair an electrical line that runs from our house to our garage, which had been severed by a tree service grinding out a stump.

 + 2 moreA detailed work estimate was given and once agreed on was followed to order. If there were additional or less costs, this was discussed at first. Robert was professional from start to finish and comes highly reccommended. Least just say our 3 yr old daughter calls all servicemen/repairmen fixers but call Robert a friend. We have left our home and fills better to have Robert around to help us if anything needs to be done while we are gone.
Description of Work: We are in the process of selling our home and Heights Enterprises performed the recommended work by the realtor such as Kitchen/hallway walls and ceiling repair as well as painting. A custom-built surround was also made for our Jenn-Air oven/stove top. Basement with brick wall was painted over by previous owner was scrapped off and all needed tuck-pointing performed. Doors were all leveled made sure it latched. Painted/repaired soffits, all metal works. Replaced hallway track-lighting.

 + -1 moreExcellent. Charged time and material; price was well worth it. Mr. Pullen was the ideal person for this kind of job, otherwise, I would have had to hire 3 or 4 different people who were willing to do only what they specialized at. It would have been a nightmare.
Description of Work: Installed a gas stove. It was a difficult job. A slide in gas range had to be fitted in a tight space. Mr. Pullen did what was necessary including re-doing a screwed up plumbing job to reposition the connection in the proper location. He also carefully cut out very small pieces of the counter top to enable sliding in the stove. He also installed the stove and levelled it to get best possible fit.

 + -1 moreRobert did a very fine job reproducing the craftsman molding that was in the rest of the house in the new half bath and hall so that they flowed together smoothly with the 1918 interior woodwork. He made a very good suggestion and solved a design dilemma for the small space. I wanted shelving up high for plants and he recommended glass because with the tightness of the space wood or other opaque would have felt cluttered. It is beautiful and leaves the space feeling very open and clean yet draws the eye upward. We get complements on the space everytime we have someone visit. The project took longer than we expected due to Robert committing to a larger project at the same time as ours and personnel shortage, but Robert compensated for the 2 or 3 months extra by charging us substantially less than we had initially agreed to. Robert is a very pleasant and ethical person and I would not hesitate to do business with him again.
Description of Work: Finished new first floor half bath and adjacent hallway.

 + 0 moreEven though it took a long time, I was pleased with the workmanship. They problem was with scheduling, being at home when he came, etc. This disturbed my schedule. He seemed to drop over whenever it was convenient for him. A bit more professionalism is needed in this regard.
Description of Work: Doorstep to patio was completely rotted and had to be replaced. He took several visits during several weeks, worked carefully, got the right type wood, painted it (several coats) and took pride in his work.

The next week went by and no estimate. Emailed, and and called and left voice mail and got no response. Would not work with this company.

drain cleaning
 + -1 moreHe used a motorized 25-foot snake on the drain, and was able to get the drain back to complete working order, and put all the plumbing back together in tip-top shape. He also cleaned up as the job progressed. Using him was much preferable to looking into buying a snake like the one he had, since they are expensive, bulky, and not likely to be used often, since we so far haven't had many clogging problems with the house.
Description of Work: Robert responded quickly to my request for a cleaning of a completely clogged kitchen drain. He came over to my residence during the evening, which was very convenient for me (since me and my wife have an infant and a toddler to look after, and I work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), after I had called him during the morning of the same day.

Description of Work: I had a scheduled appointment. 5 minutes before the appointment he called to cancel schedule. He did reschedule for the next day and showed up on time. He said he would get me an estimate but I never received the estimate.

 + 0 moreMy wife related that Robert dropped everything to rush over and clear the stoppage. Some of the water flowed onto wood flooring and it buckled. He stopped by a few days later to make sure that the damage was not permanent. In this regard our contractor doubles as the family house doctor.
Description of Work: I was traveling and the toilet stopped up. My wife was not able to unstop it and she called Robert. He had completed major work on two rooms but for the flood there was no name/number of a handyman to call even though Robert does major remodeling work. He rushed over and took care of the issue.
