Description of Work: I had no complaint about their service or the installation of my furnace, AC, and insulation. My only concern was that they offered me a rebate if I paid them $8300 for the furnace/AC IN CASH! Not a check, not a cashier's check, but CASH. I can't understand why they would risk my safety or their employees safety to have any of us carrying around $8300 in cash. This made me very uncomfortable with this company.

Description of Work: The sewer was backing up because of tree roots. First tried to fix the problem by going down the floor drain (a less expensive solution). As that didn't solve the tree root problem, had to open the clean-out to snake further than the 20 feet. They cleaned up the immediate mess and advised me what to do to further disinfect the area.

It worked for what I needed it to do. I was disappointed because no one got back to me about potential insulation work. I even spoke to them a few times about a possible quote. However, the work was done well.

I called GHS because of very large icicles forming on a recently purchased home. I purchased an Angie's List Deal for the whole house thermal scan from GHS. They were very prompt in responding and setting up a time to come out. Don arrived on time and was very polite. He showed me what he was doing and explained everything to me as he went. About two weeks after his visit I received a report complete with pictures, explanations and recommendations. Recommended work totals about $3,000. We haven't yet contacted them regarding completing some or all of the work, but we will sometime soon.

I was very happy with them. I would call them in a heartbeat if I bought a new house and needs insulation. My only complaint was and I think I did communicate this to them, is that to insulate above our house they have to cut through wall in do drywall stuff, they did a very good job with that but what they didn't do a good job was when you sand dry wall it creates a massive amount of dust. They did clean up but they put so much dust in the air that we spent a couple of days constantly going through the house and cleaning it. They did cover stuff in the room but dry wall dust is everywhere. I wish they would improve on that but they were very good. I was happy with them. They were here when they said they were.

Installed new Carrier HVAC system along with re-routing ductwork to separate area of basement. Installed new thermostat and electronic air filter. The service from project manager to crew that installed was very seamless. As soon as I was ready to install, the turn around was very quick, within a couple of days. Crew was, nice courteous and professional. Very knowledgable. Would use service again.

They were very helpful up front and very quick to respond. I found out years later that the return vent system was not put right and was not having the right amount of return air to the furnace. They actually put in the vent that was going through the rafters through my basement. When I had waterproofing issues where I had to turn on the part of the ceiling, I realized that whoever came, didn't look at it. I was just very disappointed. The quality of the product was good, but not the quality of the service.

The gentleman, Don Burma, was very nice and informative. He check the areas of the attic and confirmed that there was some insulation there but very little over the areas that were cold and that lack of insulation was my problem. This was confirmed by the infrared photographs Discussion later gave me an idea what it would correct to the situation. A week later he emailed me copies of the photographs he took with estimates of the costs of insulating the upstairs.

Went very well. Showed up on time and went over the entire house. Took pictures and thermal analysis of every room, as well as the attic and basement areas. A couple of days later an estimate was emailed and shortly after that the estimate arrived by mail. We plan to have the estimate work done in the near future. Don Burma did the analysis and I was impressed with all he did. I feel he was very through in both his analysis and estimate.

He was on time, friendly, and did a very complete job. He explained as he went and showed us the different images on the screen he was seeing. He did an comparison between different areas, etc. He went in the atic, basement, outside and checked all doors, windows, corners, etc. Within a few days he sent the report and gave us some suggestions on how to improve the few things that could be better with brand names and contacts for installation.

Don Burma of Green Home Solutions (GHS) came out to do an energy audit of our home. He was prompt, knowledgeable and very thorough. We scheduled to have the work performed over 2 days at the end of August. The first day that the work was performed, 3 people arrived in the morning at my door. They were courteous, though one of them did not speak English and as such, I was unable to communicate with him. They were conscientious and kept the mess to a minimum as much as possible. For the most part, they worked diligently, although there were several times when the gentleman who did not speak English was the only one working. At one point, I also had to ask them not to smoke just outside the garage door, which they had to leave open, as smoke was coming into my home. There were only a few glitches during the initial install; First, GHS did not check to see if there was drywall behind the paneling in our family room, so when the insulation was blown into the garage wall on the other side, it burst the paneling in the family room. They tacked it back down and I had to touch up the paint, which was not a huge deal. Second, the garage entry door that arrived initially did not have a deadbolt in it as we had requested, so a different door had to be ordered and installed at a later date. When the door was installed, the door knob lock and deadbolt were keyed differently, so if we wanted to lock both the knob and deadbolt, we had to use 2 different keys to do so. Now, to be fair, the contractors that were hired to install the door purchased the mismatched locks and when I spoke to GHS about it, they were gracious enough to allow me to purchase a matched set, which they installed and deducted the cost from our total bill. Throughout this process, Don was communicative and responsive. My only other issue was that when the work was complete, one of the workers handed me a survey, which he expected me to fill out while he watched and hand over to him before he left, which left me feeling very pressured to say everything went well. It made me very uncomfortable and I said as much to Don, who said that he would take that into consideration for future jobs. At the end of October, we had a terrible storm and water began leaking into our master bathroom from the place where the exhaust fans were vented through the roof. I called GHS and they sent Ted out the next day to look into the issue, which was caused by the vent they had installed being torn free of the roof and having one of the roof tiles being split in the process. Ted placed silicone in the area to stop the leak and GHS asked that we wait a week or two for everything to dry completely before they came out to repair the ceiling and do any further repairs needed. Up to this point, we were satisfied with GHS. Then the fiasco began? We had difficulty getting the initial appointment for the repairs scheduled, due to poor communication on the part of their office staff. The man who came to perform the repairs (I believe his name was Miguel) spoke very broken English. He went up to our bathroom and told us he would take care of repairing the damage. Don had assured me that they would re-texture and paint so that it would look close to the rest of the ceiling, though not exactly the same, because their texture brush was a bit different. We were fine with that. When Miguel was finished, he showed us his work. The ceiling was a mess. The texture wasn't even close, there was spackle all over the walls and my fixtures and it was clear that the ceiling ?texture? was done with a spackle knife or something similar. When I tried to express my concern and discuss this with Miguel, he was unable to communicate effectively because of his limited ability to speak English. I went in the family room to contact Don to discuss the issue and Miguel packed up and left, without even telling us he had planned to do so. My husband and I went out to dinner, and upon return, discovered that all of the paint and spackle that was applied to our ceiling had fallen on the floor. (I wish I could attach the pictures!) GHS sent John out to try to repair the damage, however, he did not usually work with drywall and wasn't able to get the plaster to adhere to the ceiling. I contacted GHS and ask that they stop sending general contractors to do this repair work and that they send the drywall specialist, as they had promised to do the previous two times. Finally, a different gentleman named John came out to do the repair and he did specialize in drywall. On November 19th, he tore down the old skim coat, re-skim coated and retextured the entire ceiling. He then came back on November 28th and painted the ceiling with a stain blocker and paint. The final result looks very good and he was wonderful to work with. Once everything was finalized, we were promised a report that shows all of the before and after photos and detail showing how much efficiency was gained by having the work performed. Despite many phone calls and emails, I have never received this report, nor have I received a return phone call or email. They simply refuse to provide the detail that was promised. In the beginning, I was recommending GHS to my friends and family, but after the fiasco that ensued and left our master bathroom torn apart for a month, I would not recommend using them and I have said as much to our friends and family. What you see here is simply a summary and cannot possibly convey the major time, effort and frustration that was required to get the repairs completed and to try to obtain our final report. I spent a great deal of my time making phone calls and trying to work with GHS, but in the end, we were left with no response. And one final note; I find it terribly inappropriate to send workers to my home who are unable to effectively communicate with myself or my husband. Should GHS wish to send someone who speaks only Spanish, then they should send someone with this person who is able to serve as an interpreter.

Very professional crew. Arrived when promised for a two day estimated completion. they moved all furniture and covered with plastic. Three man crew said job was underestimated and would be 3-4 days. All went well but we were not prepared for all the dust. Friday and Saturday they were here well into overtime and still had the garage walls to finish. We called the office Monday morning with three concerns and they sent a man out within the hour to address our concerns to our satisfaction.

The initial insulation job was not adequate to prevent the kitchen floor from being very cold in the winter. A callback just after the initial job in March 2011 resulted in marginal improvement. A secong callback was made in December 2011. An inadequacy in their work was pointed out and they remedied the problem at no additional charge. I would probably recommend them to others. Their cost was definitely competitive with other estimates.
