The owner is great. One person cleans every week, I am not sure if it is the same person every time or if they rotate because I am at work during the day. McCarthy's home services has been cleaning my house for 2 years and has always done a great job.
Description of Work: They clean all 3 floors (2200 sq ft finished) every other week. They scrub the hardwood floors, vacuum the carpets, dust, clean 3.5 bathrooms, and clean all surfaces.

I have never had any issues. I used to leave notes like I always did in the past with other housekeeping services but I find now, I don't need to, everything is always taken care of fully, no need to ask. They really do a nice job.
Description of Work: Mccarthy's cleans our home every two weeks, we have been a client for six months now and they are great! I would recomend them to anyone!

The cleaning services are always done very well. We have had the same person from McCarthy's now for several years, and she does a terrific job for us. We consider her a friend and she doesn't just clean our house for us, she cares for our house for us. The price is very reasonable. McCarthy's always works with us when we have scheduling conflicts. We wouldn't use anyone else.

Started their service in late 2012. Did well the first few months then it started slipping. 3 of my last 4 cleanings were poor. When I asked for compensation for poor cleanings, (their advertising says they stand behind their work) I was told no. then she threatened to send me to a collection agency. Wow, poor cleaning - Lousy customer service. Stay away from this crew.

I first want to start off by saying that we have won the Angies List Super Service Award for three years in a row. We also have an A rating on the BBB website. We stand behind our work. In all our years of business, this is a first - lol. I apologize that (member name removed) feels it necessary to get online and try to give us a bad name. She was the only one out of 130+ customers of ours who claims to have had such a bad experience. We started cleaning her home of February of this year, not in 2012 like she stated - 1st untruth she is telling. The 2nd lie is that she asked for compensation - she didn't. She purposely did not sign the check that she left on the date of the last cleaning, knowing that I would send it back to her for her to sign. When I told her that her payment is due - she said and I quote " Mess with me anymore and I'm going to sue you for false advertising.... I hope you go out of business" There is no false advertising - we do have high standards, we do stand behind our work - but there are procedures that we follow to correct the situation. We were trying to make it right for her - but she took the law into her own hands. This customer will be headed to a collection agency and possibly court - on the last date of cleaning 6/25 - she left a check for the service - but she didn't sign it. So I returned it to her and asked for her to sign and send it back. She said that she INTENTIONALLY left it unsigned - that she did not intend to pay for service - that is theft of service and it is against the law. It would be like taking a cab ride and not paying the fare. I should have walked away from the onset - at the estimate she was bashing ALL previous cleaning companies she had used. But I was confident in our service. We have a rating questionnaire that I started in March of this year, and we sent it out to each customer after each cleaning. Her 1st response was on 3/21 - saying that we are doing very good. She didn't respond to the surveys for 2 months - which we take as everything is going good with service. She responded to the survey on 5/20 with a satisfactory rating. I replied back asking how we could improve. She said that she wasn't unsatisfied, but could improve upon couple of things. She was on and off after that - complaining on 6/4 and praising the cleaning on 6/11. We try very hard to please everyone - unfortunately we cannot. It seems like the hardest ones to please also have the dirtiest houses. My cleaning tech who was assigned to her home, called me one day and told me exactly what she had to clean in this womans home (I will leave it at that), but I will say she went above and beyond to clean her home.

McCarthy's Home Service does an OK job. They have been cleaning our house bi-weekly for the past 4 months. Based on the price I pay I had very high expectations. I have gotten tired of having to call Trina and tell her about what got missed that week. Simple things like dusting, cleaning under the rim of the toilet, wiping down kitchen tables, sweeping behind the door of the bathroom, vacuuming, floor cleaning get missed on a regular basis. Every week it's something. I even took photos of the things not cleaned and emailed them to Trina. When I did call Trina I often got the response that "they don't usually do that kind of cleaning but would take care of it next time". Sometimes they remember, sometimes not. The plastic dish rack on the kitchen counter is not something they clean. They do not wipe down the ceramic jars on the kitchen counter holding flour and sugar. They do not empty kitchen recycle bins to the garage. They only dust to eye level. They do not move any furniture - and I doubt they even move kitchen chairs to vacuum under the table. I noticed a tennis ball on a carpet under our Solarium eating table on two occasions - both times the ball was in exactly the same spot after the clean. I asked Trina for a detailed list of exactly WHAT cleaning they do on a regular basis. She responded that is varies from job to job. Not much help to me to not know what I can expect. I have had to cancel twice, due to vacations, so perhaps the lack of detail is a result of there being slightly more dust than normal - but the girls have never left a note to that effect - and it's incredible how quickly they get in and out now as compared to the first month. Originally, two girls were in the house for at least 3 hours. Now , the two girls are in and out in just under 2 1/2 hours. I guess the idea is to be as expedient as possible - but I pay by the job, not the hour - and they are spending a full hour less cleaning than they were in the beginning. I also felt like the responses from Trina were rather flat. They all seem nice enough, but for what I pay - I expect more and will no longer be using them.

Trina called 2 weeks ago and said that Becky, who usually cleaned my place, had quit the day before and that she was planning to send Ashley, but Ashley had gotten sick that very morning. No one was able to clean my home, and no one followed up with me after that. This morning, when they were supposed to come per our usual agreement, no one came. No one was in the office and there was a message saying that the call was being transferred to Trina's cell phone. I called her cell phone directly, and it said she was out of the area. It's the day before Thanksgiving, and there is no one available to clean my home. There was no communication that they wouldn't be coming. I am very frustrated with them, and will not be using them in the future. I have no complaints with the quality of their work. The only complaint is that it is very frustrating and difficult to contact Trina, who is the only one coordinating all of the employees.
Description of Work: They clean every 2 weeks for me, on Wednesday at 8:30am. I have been using their services for about 6 months now.

I had to call 3 days in a row to get a return call to scheule, as the owner said she was out of town. It took 2 people two days to clean a house with 3 floors. I was called to look at the work 2 hrs before they were to leave and was able to arrive 15 minutes before they had to leave. Upon seeing the house, I had 15 minutes to inspect it. They missed several basic items which they could take care of before they left....blinds, laundry room cabinet, closet molding. They did not pull out the refrigerator, they missed the drawer in the stove, didn't finish the basement or garage. Someone would have to come back to clean the items they missed. Before they left, I told them they did a great job, based on what I saw at that time, but when I really LOOKED at their work , when I could see it in next 2 days, I noticed they missed many details including washing a floor in one of the bedrooms, dusting above doors, leaving closets dirty, grout dirty, Shelves on 3rd floor dirty. It was not great at all. Someone suppsedly came back to clean the basement but ddn't finish it. I don't know what she did when she was here? Overall they only did a fair job, not what I had hoped. Missed the details

I am very sorry that the member was not satisfied with our services. We do ALOT of move in/move out cleanings - and have been told that we helped "sell their house". I had set aside 2 days for her large home to be cleaned. She did come to the house to inspect it so that I could know what areas to have the crew focus on. She said that she was SO happy with the service. She said that the house that she is currently lived in was cleaned by another company, and she was also unhappy with their service. The member said that she was so disappointed with the other company that she was going to call us to clean her new home as well. After we left the last day we were there (Weds), I called her to have her look over everything so that if there was anything she was not happy with we could go back and fix it. She emailed me back several days later with her complaints. I immediatley contacted her back regarding this and she did not give us a chance to fix anything. She instead, came here to Angies List to post her complaints. It was a very big job for my team to do, but I am positive that they would have fixed whatever problems if given the chance to do so. As far as the estimate goes - we give a ballpark figure for one time cleanings. We have NO idea how long a cleaning will take until we get into it. She agreed to the hourly price that was quoted - and even said that she expected it to take much longer. I am sorry that she was unhappy with our services. I tried to contact her to resolve this problem with her - and I feel that if she would have given us the chance to correct it - this wouldn't even be an issue.

On the first service call, the service rendered was very good. Upon returning to the house at night, we noticed little things like rugs laid out on the carpet (seemingly for the purpose of vacuuming) and miscellaneous objects out of place. Also, we noticed that the countertops in the kitchen were not cleaned very well. Understanding that this would be the more extensive (and more expensive) initial cleaning, we were a bit surprised to notice these things. On the second service call, my wife ran into the cleaner on her way out to work. She highlighted the aforementioned issues and closed with "but overall, good job" before ending the brief conversation in the driveway. Upon our return to the house that evening, we noticed that a mediocre cleaning job had been conducted and that even more cleaning miscues such as minimal dusting, dirty floors, and messy mirrors had occurred in addition to a repeated instance of the aforementioned issues. We provided feedback to the owner with a promise that it would be remedied on the next service call. That promise was never realized as we were stood up for the third (and consequently final) service. We received a disorganized phone message from the owner that afternoon stating that the house cleaner could not be located and never received a follow up in the coming days to reschedule the service or explain the incident. Later when I informed the owner that we no longer required their services, I received comments that my wife was "disrespectful and hateful" toward the house cleaner and that was why she didn't return. Additionally, we were told that we were "too picky" and that she [the owner] suggested that we ?just clean our house ourselves as no one is going to meet our expectations". Ironically, the service we have now (My Maid Service) is doing a fine job. I also received two moderately threatening responses from the owner's husband [Darren McCarthy] previously when I followed up prior to service on the cost; I just wanted to be sure I left the right amount on the check! In all the interactions with this company management, there were constant misunderstandings and even an attempt at refusal of service. I have NEVER been treated that way by a company and am glad to have them out of our home and out of our lives. Please feel free to contact me for a copy of the e-mails exchanged if you don't believe me - I will happily provide them. I know this sounds exaggerated but believe me, it's not. Apparently they have customers they've made happy for years based on my review of Angie's List. Maybe they're getting overwhelmed or maybe they just don't like the industry anymore. Either way, our experience with McCarthy's Home Services was so bad that it inspired me to pay for the Angie's List membership just so I could prevent this from happening again.
Description of Work: McCarthy's Home Services was contracted to perform house cleaning services on a bi-weekly basis. Areas to be cleaned were identified as the kitchen, foyer, office, living room, dining room, bathrooms, bedrooms, and adjoining spaces within the house. When asked about whether or not McCarthy's Home Services performs a rotated area "deep cleaning" while conducting a general cleaning of the remaining areas (as many other companies do), we were told by the owner [Trina McCarthy] that the level of detail her cleaners performed did not require it and hence, each area would be deep cleaned on each service. We outlined up front that we were concerned that her company might do a good job initially and gradually start to slack as the service continued; this had happened to us with other companies in the past. We also discussed the fact that we appreciate two-way dialogue and that we would give feedback (both positive and negative) when appropriate.

I should have turned down the work from the onset of the estimate - when they mentioned that they had been through "a few" services over the past several months. But, believing in my company, I felt like we could win them over. We were only at their house 2 or three times and that was several months ago. I cut the ties with them after a very demeaning voicemail message that was left. I knew that at that point there was going to be NOTHING I could do to please them. I tried. I feel like we have a great company with an excellent cleaning staff and superior notes for each house. I know that my cleaners did an excellent job at their home. I am not here to downgrade their feelings about this matter at all - I understand their frustration - but it wasn't only OUR cleaning company that they have had problems with - it has been several.

They were unable to come out and do the work. The woman I spoke with was very polite and professional on the phone. One of their workers was out sick and were overbooked. She referred me to another cleaning company and even called them for me.

I hired this company to complete a "move-in" cleaning on an empty 2,600sqft house. They were much faster than the initial estimated time and did a nice job. They brought all of their own cleaning supplies and vacuum cleaners. It made our move later that day so much less stressful! Thanks!

I emailed Trina and set up an estimate. She promptly responded to email. I recieved an estimate, we were able to negotiate a price based on my needs. I scheduled cleaning, but became ill. Trina was great about rescheduling the team. The cleaning was performed and it was excellent. I am now set up for biweekly cleanings.

The first person sent to clean did an excellent job. However, a different person was assigned to clean on an ongoing basis. She was clearly not as thorough as the first person and her performance deteriorated over time. We commented about this to the owner but performance did not improve. Finally on 1/3/2012 we notified the owner we no longer wanted to continue with the person assigned. We told her we were leaving town for awhile and would like to continue the service if she could assign another person. As of today we have not received the courtesy of a reply.

We have been cleaning the customer's house for several months now. She did give us an A rating after the first few cleanings were performed. She did call once to the office notifying us of her concern with the cleaner she had, I talked with the cleaner and it seemed to get better. She never contacted me again until last week - saying that she was going away for the winter and that she needed to cancel her service and when she returned she would want another cleaner. I was confused because as I mentioned she had not complained to me again, and she also gave the cleaner she complained about a Christmas bonus. Not something I would do if I was so dissatisfied with a service. I did contact her back/reply by email regarding her recent complaint. As far as her grad for us for timeliness I don't understand that. She did not want a first appointment, so she was scheduled for the 2nd appointment of the day - which is 11-1 timeframe. My worker did state that no matter what time she arrived within that period the customer would comment that she was either early or late - but she was always within that timeframe. I just got off the phone with her after receiving this report and she said that she had just been too busy to contact me because of health issues. I apologized to her and told her that I wished she would have contacted me first before submitting a report so I could try to resolve the issue that I didn't know existed. I guess I am confused on this report. She is unhappy enough to submit a report on us - but is going to call us back in May when she gets back from Florida.

I have contracted with McCarthy's for bi-weekly cleaning services for my 1500-sq ft home. They have been here once for the initial Deluxe Cleaning and then back once for the bi-weekly regular services. I am very satisfied and happy with the cleaning that McCarthy's provides. The owner, Trina, is very professional and very responsive. I left a message requesting an estimate late one day and she called back the next day and was able to stop by for the estimate the following day. She has also been very willing to make a certain day of the week happen, and has been very flexible in working around holiday vacation timings. The cleaning crew that has been here, Joanne and Kelly, were very professional, very efficient and very thorough, leaving my home much cleaner and neater than it was when they arrived. Overall, I highly recommend McCarthy's Cleaning Services.
