They seemed to understand what I expected and gave complete sketches and estimates of all portions of the work. They were supposed to get any permits necessary for the work. My home was newly constructed with just a final grade from the builder so everything - lawn, beds, plants etc., was necessary. This is a lot of work. The work ethic was poor - some days they didn't show up at all, one day one guy showed up but had absolutely no garden tools at all - not even a shovel. I had to loan him my tools. One day two high school kids were dropped off with a tiller missing one of it's two wheels. These kids had no concept of what they were to do of how it was to be done and there was no one supervising them. They installed a split rail fence with wire mesh around by rear yard. The gates were porrly made and one ended up being un-useable because of how it was installed. I cut myself several times on the wire mesh as sharp edges were left protruding. In the end, the entire fence had to be removed as parts were over the property line (surveyor stakes were plainly visible during the construction of the fence) and because they had never gotten a city permit - the permit, had they bothered to try to get it would have been denied as the city does not allow wire nesh on any fences and because the fence crossed an easement. A rock feature was to be installed in the yard - they bought the wrong size rocks and really messed up the installation - I ended up undoaing everything they did and re-doing it myself. In my opinion they were not qualified to refer to themselves as landscapers - they had no special knowledge of landscaping techniques or plants and were, at best, day labor type people. The work ethic was poor, the quality of the work was poor, the seed used in one area of the rear yard was not even close to what I specified.. I was very happy to see the end of them so I could make proper repairs to the work that was poorly done. Even after the job was finished they left a bobcat parked on the vacant lot next to my lot for almost a month. When the grass xame up it had a lot of weeds in it and they offered no solution to this problem. This was a very frustrating and disappointing experience that cost a lot of money and I learned some hard lessons. I hope I never see them again.
