This is the second time I have tried to use Mr. Electric. The first time I got the run around and never used their services. I called them today and after the receptionist said they had appointments today or tomorrow she put me on hold for approximately two minutes. She said after checking with the supervisor they had no appointments until January 18th. It seems that the receptionist would know that they were booked that far in advance. I tried to give them another chance after the first time because of their rating on Angie's List, but I will never call them again.
Description of Work: No services were performed because they refused my work.

We are very satisfied with Mr. Electric. This is the second time that we have used Mike. He is really nice to work with. He is very accurate. He knows what he is doing. We are very pleased with his work. We didn’t have anybody else come in to give us an estimate. So, I am assuming that the price is in line with the others. I am sure the price is okay. It was an expensive deal but he did a lot of work here. The quality of his work was excellent. We didn’t have to call him back for anything. We are happy with Mike and his service. He is very punctual. He is very professional. He had to go get some parts a couple of times, and then he came back, and finished it. He knew exactly what he was doing. I would absolutely use him in the future.
Description of Work: I used Mr. Electric about a month ago. Mike did an outside garage outlet for our Christmas lights. He put a plug for us in the garage. We had a single outlet for the microwave and the refrigerator that wasn’t working good. So, he pulled a line in and out, and added another outlet for the microwave. In the basement, he put in an outlet, off and on switch. We had one area that was dark so he added another light for us.

very responsive. We called them when we couldn't get power from any external outlets. Came the next day researched the power and determined the problem was a faulty gfi outlet in the garage. When the work was completed, bill paid and serviceman left, we realized that we forgot to give him the Angie's list $30 coupon. We called and they immediately mail us a check. We will definitely use this company again!

I had called another electric company that never got back to me, so I picked this one off of Angies list due to the great reviews. They sent Sean out the next day. He inspected everything on my list and was able to fix everything. He was professional,polite and did a great job. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Sean fixed outdoor outlets because our Christmas lights weren't lighting up, also photo cells on lightposts needed replacing. Three indoor outlets needed replacing. He was very professional and explained everything he did and went over it with me before he proceeded with work.

The technician was unable to arrive on the service day and time. I was informed of this and rescheduled. I was told that the technician had car trouble. Ryan arrived the next day and was very nice. His van had been broken into and all of his tools had been stolen. I felt very badly for him and he was so frustrated. When I put myself back in the role of the customer, I realized that he did not have any of the tools that he needed to complete my job. I tried to find some tools that would help and we even tried to wait for the plumber hopeful that he would have some electric tools to help with the installation. I was so distracted that I did not realize that he installed my stainless steel range hood with the plastic coating on it. I could not remove the plastic coating without removing the range hood. The screws were already coming out anyway. I contacted another electrical company because the house was going on the market the next day and I needed to get it done. It was fixed but I had to pay another company to complete the work. I called Mr. Electric two times asking for them to call me to discuss and no one ever called me back. I am thankful that I can share this information on Angie's List. I was contacted by Len at Mr. Electric this week. He appreciated the issues that I had and offered to pay me back for the work that they were unable to complete. Len understood the issue and was very helpful and quick in resolving the issue. I would definitely use them again. I am so glad that he contacted me to fix the issue.
Description of Work: Asked them to install a range hood that I provided as well as install the wiring for my dishwasher in a recessed outlet.

They were responsive, clean, quick and professional. They were also 10% cheaper than another quote I received and I was able to add the $30 coupon from Angie's List. Dion offered advice on a related question I had and was very knowledgeable.

We used Mr. Electric in the past to install 200amp service panel and were happy with the service. Needed lines run and hoookup for two newly installed power roof vents, so called them up. Able to come out quickly and did a very nice job of fishing wires through the walls to reach two separate attic areas in a split-level house. Will definitely use them for any future electrical work.

He solved some really difficult problems with how to run wires through the walls. He was able to solve these problems very creatively and did a great job. He also rerouted our TV cable and put in a new outlet. I thought it was a fair price too.

Will not use them gaain. Dont waste your time!
Description of Work: Called this company to install 3 bathroom exhaust fans. The tech came out looked at the bathrooms and gave my husband a quote of over $700.00 to install the fans (I had purchased the fans at Lowes all they had to do was install them). My husband balked at the quote and the tech went to his van to call into the office. The tech then came back to my husband with another quote for $420.00. My husband said to the tech "so what you are telling me is you are charging $210.00 per hour to install these fans" and the tech said " I guess". My husband said we were not interested. This company does not quote prices over the phone ( I asked) and I guess that they feel the consumer will not want to tell someone that they are not interested once they get to your home. I will never call them again!

JR did an excellent job with upgrading our electrical box, installing ceiling fans(x4),and repair a bathroom light that hadn't worked in 21 years. He was professional,cleaned up after him self and was great about explaining about what was needed and why.
Description of Work: We had the main electrical box upgraded to a larger unit, 4 ceiling fans installed and a bathroom light repaired. He also gave us estimates for additional work-adding 220 line to the garage and running electric & box to the storage shed. He also explained how he would change affected light switches due to the fans since they were independent of the other light switches.

Sean Bradford was our technician. He came on time and was very knowleagable about our problem and what was needed. He gave us an estimate and said he could do the work that same day as he had nothing else on his schedule. We agreed and he left to pick up all the supplies he needed for the job. He was very proud of the company he worked for; he told us of their ranking in the industry and also mentioned they were on Angie's List. I had been thinking about joining Angie's List and had heard from other businesses we have dealt with say they are on Angie's List, but Sean's mention of his company on Angie's List is what made me decide to finally became a member. The job was finished later that day in 90-degree temperatures inside and outside as the house does not have air conditioning. My husband, Sean and I were very hot that day but Sean never complained. He was upbeat, worked with enthusiasm and had a smile on his face the entire time; my husband and I could tell he loved what he did for a living. Description of Work: We are in the process of selling a property and an inspector found problems with the electrical work. We called Mr. Electric for an estimate for replacing the outside part of 200 AMP service, installing a new service meter, replacing 20 AMP breakers on 14 wire to 15 AMP breakers and grounding it properly.

They called and told me approximately what time they would be out. Mike was prompt and courteous. He even put down a mat and covered his shoes before entering the house. He was efficient and knowledgeable. The fixture was old and parts were sparse. He did the necessary troubleshooting, obtained the parts, and soon we had light! We will definitely use this company again.

Mike was punctual. I like that. When I first made the appointment for an estimate, I was told they would probably be able to do the work right then if I wanted. By the way, I got the name of the business from the full page ad in the Angies list booklet. I am about the happiest customer. Those fans have been running since Mike left on Friday!.
Description of Work: This was perhaps the best experience I have ever had with an electrician! Mike Gergye was knowledgeable, professional, personable and efficient. I never felt rushed. He was neat, clean and well spoken. I will most certainly recommend this business to the many many people I work with in the hospital, and have them ask for Mike! I love this company, and will use them for any future needs. One of the employees came to my home on Thursday June 16, 2011 to give me an estimate. He scheduled the rapair for the next evening (which is very convenient). Our electrician, JR, was very polite, pleasant, and competent. He went to remove an old ceiling fan but was able to fix it. He then installed an electrical outlet in my family room floor so we would not have cords on the floor for lamps. Lastly, my jacuzzi tub would not work - JR found the problem with an incorrectly installed GFI. JR was very patient with my 4 year old son, and answered his questions. GREAT COMPANY.

The electrician was running behind. I had to call twice asking when someone would arrive. My appointment was for the 1-3 slot and the electrician didn't show up until 4:45. I would have been nice of them to call to let me know that the electrician was running an hour behind schedule. Once he arrived, the electrician was professional and courteous. It turned out the fixture that I wanted repaired didn't need to be after all. He unscrewed an attachment that was screwed in to the socket and that solved that problem. He also checked the switch to make sure nothing was loose. He did not charge me for this. Afterward, he replaced the hall light fixture. He was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I used the $30 off coupon that was offered through Angie's List.
Description of Work: I wanted one light fixture replaced and another one repaired.

The company sent out a representative to sell the work. I say sell because that is exactly what he attempted to do. I wanted a couple of outlets and a light fixture installed. I showed the guy the areas where the work was to be done, then proceeded to show him the basement where our main panel was. He took one look at the panel and started talking about how it was probably going to need to be replaced and it was a poor quality panel, etc. I had just had 3 electricians out before him and they all told me it was a top-quality panel in great shape. I also had a home inspection done less than 1 year earlier and I personally looked over the panel with the inspector, who indicated that it was in terrific shape. Anyway, the salesman from Mr. Electric wanted to open up the panel and I declined, saying I just wanted his quote for the work we requested. He then got really edgy and started arguing with me, telling me why he needed to open up the panel, etc. I ended up firmly saying no and asking for his report. Even though he never examined the panel, he still quoted that we needed a new one- for $1700!! I then asked what his price would be on the outlets- he quoted $300 just for one (which is the total we paid for all the work). I asked him to leave and he was very miffed. Not at all a good experience!! As a side note, I later found out that many of the "big name" companies contract their electricians and pay them commission on the job vs. the hourly wage that most of the smaller companies pay. Commission encourages the representative to sell the client a bigger job than they need. Guess which way Mr. Electric pays?

They were professional, responsive and reasonable and did a good job. It was my first experience with them and I will use them again.
Description of Work: I was having trouble with a basement light switch that would sometimes leave the light on after we turned it off. Mr. Electric investigated the problem and fixed it. I have had no trouble with it since they did the work. It was a simple problem and they did not try to overcomplicate it.

Our house is 50 years old and had the original 60 amp electric panel. I had been having circuit breakers going out on a daily basis. After trying to reach a couple companies without success, I called Mr. Electric. They came out the next day. They called ahead of arriving to let me know when to expect them. Mike arrived on time, he was friendly, informed me of what the issues were and very professional. Mike called in a second man to get the work done, it took 6 hours. The house is a bi level and the sub panel was not able to be wired directly from the main without tearing up concrete floors. Mike and Ryan were able to troubleshoot the issue and run the line another way that looks professional. They did a great job. I now know who to call for electrical work.
Description of Work: Replace two 60 amp electrical panels and the meter with a 200 amp main panel and 100 amp sub panel.
