+ -1 moreCalled them very late in the day and figured we would just get an appointment the next week. They came out within the hour, had the dryer repaired, and gave me some tips on how to keep the dryer from accumulating all the lint that was in it. It was probably a good thing the dryer stopped working and they came out, because the repair person showed me where lint had gotten deep inside the dryer works and had started to char. Down the road we could have had a fire on our hands.

Description of Work: The dishwasher that I purchased new in 7/2011 began not to work properly. Once again, they came out the same day. Something was replaced in the control panel. The product is still under warranty, so all it cost me was a signature.

+ -1 more"No Appointments", you wonder? Here's how I made the "no appointments" business model work for me. J&J does not take appointments. You call. They tell you that they will call you approximately 30 minutes before they can arrive. Hmmmm. Simply defer your call until you are 30 minutes from home! I called as I was leaving work and made it home before Sam got there. Sam knows his machines. He worked cleanly, quickly and I had every confidence in his knowledge of the broken appliance. He was very interested in solving the dripping before he installed the rather expensive replacement motor controller. I appreciate that kind of integrity. He also made suggestions about keeping the front-loader wash tub odor-free, which I tried and it worked. The first appointment was to diagnose the problem, order the part, re-glue and seal the boot around the outer wash-tub. The second appointment, the very next day, was to install the replacement motor controller, level and test the machine. Thanks to Sam and J&J Appliances, my machine is drip-free, odor-free and level!
Description of Work: Due to a design flaw in our washing machine, water had been dripping onto the motor controller, causing it to fail. We needed the problem diagnosed and repaired. Not only did Sam of J&J find the failed part - the motor controller, he identified the cause of the failure - the dripping water, and applied his own repair to the manufacturer's design flaw - re-glue and sealant around boot on the outer tub. Another bonus is that he re-leveled the washing machine to a perfection that the appliance had never enjoyed before.

Our refrigerator works like new!! Despite it being $380, it was much better than purchasing a new Jenn-Air unit!

+ -1 moreLousy. I would never call J&J again. They're not reasonable, especially for people who work normal business hours. They apparently work a pretty nice easy schedule.
Description of Work: Based on Angie's List approved, I called J&J on 9/20 and requested service call for my oven. The business owner ( I assume) asked me if I was at home, but I was at work and we tried to find a time available for the service call. he informed me they don't start working until at least 9:30a and they don't do service calls late in the afternoon. I work 8-5 Monday thru Friday, standard work hours, and asked if we could manage an afternoon appointment, as they don't have Saturday calls either. i was not available on two afternoons the following week, but could meet, if he could give me a range of time, say 3 or 4 pm. He said maybe I should find someone else. I then said I was home in the morning the next day, but leaving town at noon, could he make a morning call. He said yes, we'll get you down for the first call and will call you at 10a. He called at 10:30 and said the technician would be leaving, which was approx. 20 minutes away, and I reminded him I needed to leave at noon. He said since I could not find a time available, I should find someone else to service the oven. He was borderline rude, not willing to discuss options, as they just seem to want to do last minute, day of calls. He wasted my time as I now am leaving town and have no time to make calls to set up an appointment for next week, and will need to try and find someone else on Monday, trying to schedule in that week. Note that he asked if I can have a neighbor let the technician in, which I'm not comfortable having some service person in my home that I've never met, never used. I live alone and cannot have another household member meet them. I have a dog, which is not a good idea to let a service tech in if I am not present as well. All of which I explained to him.

+ -1 moreAfter another provider failed to keep their appointment, called J&J. They were able to come out on the same day. Tech was friendly and informative. Would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Dishwasher did not drain properly after running a cleaner through it. Service tech (Buck) cycled dishwasher and advised that cleaners sometimes "foam" and create an air pocket drain blockage. Cycled again and it worked fine. Inspected all components and gave me two things to watch for to help diagnose potential future problems.

+ -1 moreNo one plans on thier refrigerator going kaput. "Buck" came out the same day I called for service, so I did not lose any food! My refirgerator came with the house, and this is the second time it has needed repair (first repair still working and this was a new problem). I was offered several repair options from short-term to longer-term, replacing parts. Being relatively young and planning to stay put, I opted for the short-term fix and we discussed new refrigerators. He did not try to oversell me nor pressure me! Having decided to purchase a new item, today's fix will suffice for the short-term. Buck agreed to let me know when refrigerators were on sale and advised me to wait and not pay full price. He measured my space to let me know what size would be the best fit. After he left, he checked the warehouse and pricing and phoned me, advising me to hold off on a new purchase until a better price is available. This is my second experience with J & J, and both times Buck was the serviceman and same day service was provided. I'm very happy with them, and it is refreshing to deal with such an honest business. They have a permanent loyal customer, although upon my new purchase, I anticipate not needing to see Buck for a very long time. THANK YOU, J & J APPLIANCE!

They called approximately 1/2 hour in advance of the arrival so that my wife could make it home from work. The repairman was very courteous and professional. Told her what was wrong and how much to fix it, was given the go ahead to do it and was done in a prompt manner. He also blew out the dryer vent (which it needed badly) as well as some advice to avoid future problems. Very satisfied, will use again when service is needed.

Description of Work: Called on Monday to see if replacement part could be done. J&J checked with company and returned my call the same day. Part came in on Tuesday and work scheduled for Thursday. On time, replaced part and was finished in less than one hour. Amount estimated by Company was slightly higher than actual bill at end of service. Explained what he was doing, gave tips on how to prevent in future and what to use to clean my dishwasher. I highly recommend J&J Appliances. Would use again for other appliances.

The man who answered the phone told me they could and said there would be a 69.00 fee for them to come out. He said he would give me a call when he had some idea of when the repairman would arrive. He called me at work on Tuesday around 10:15 to let me know I would be the next call. He made it very clear that he could not give me an exact time because he had no idea how long the repairman would take at his present call. At around 12:00 I called to make sure that my son had not missed the repairman. The gentleman at the office stated that he expected to hear from the repairman shortly. I arrived home at 12:30 from work just behind the repairman. He ran the washer and asked me some questions about what problems I was having. He indicated that the clutch needed repair, but that I COULD (as I had been) just use the small load setting and not pay to have it repaired. I opted to have the repair completed and he did so in approximately one hour. As I had an appointment, I left my check with my son. The repairman left a detailed statement for me. He was very professional - I was impressed that he gave me more than one option (including replacing the washer) and did not pressure me to have the repair done. I am delighted that I can use the large load settings on my washer.

I called J&J Appliances late afternoon and the man that answered the phone said he would have someone out the same day within an hour. I was so relieved as I use the dryer constantly every day. Buck, who did the repair, was professional and knew what he was doing. He put in a brand new vent that is longer and more pliable, cleaned the dryer as well as resiliconed the outside vent.

The man that answered the phone was extremely nice, asked me a few questions regarding the dryer and said he would send someone out today. I thought I would try the dryer one more time and checked and it was heating! I called back to cancel and the nice man (sorry - don't know name) said sometimes that happens. I will definitely use them in the future should need be.
