 + -1 moreThey had ordered the part a few days ahead when I explained over the phone what the problem was. (Note that I am not very technical and had no idea what the part was called, but he was able to figure it out!) When the part arrived, they called me that same day and also came over to fix it immediately! In addition to replacing the needed part, he also reversed the door for me, making it easier to put clothes into the dryer. He asked me if I would like this done, when he noticed that it would be easier the other way! He also cleaned the lint around the heater for us!
Description of Work: The technician removed and replaced the short drum baffle in our dryer. He also reversed our dryer door and cleaned around the heater.

 + -1 moreThe repair individual was very pleasant and his sales pitch wasn't at all high pressure. We probably would not have purchased a new washer from this company even if we needed one, because its showroom is only open Monday-Friday from 9-5. The service call charge was not unreasonable.
Description of Work: Our 9 year old Amana washer appeared to have a major leak. The repair person took off the front of the machine and explained that the leak was the result of corrosion around the bleach dispenser. He warned that there was a risk of electric shock if the water leaked into the motor. This took about five minutes to explain. He then spent the next 15-20 minutes giving me a sales pitch for this company that also sells major appliances. We weren't in a position to buy a major appliance just then. I still had laundry to do so I went ahead and did several more loads, some caused "leaks" & some did not. I couldn't figure out why until I happened to notice that the hose that drains into the washtub was out of whack and was spewing water onto the floor! I adjusted it and the washer has not leaked since--unless the hose gets misplaced. I don't know whether this guy never looked at it or chose to ignore it hoping to sell us a new one! ($53.70)

Description of Work: Oven stopped working. Called J & J, because they are close to our home and have a good rating. They answered the phone when I called and fit me in the same day. Showed up exactly on time, performed thoroughly and had it working within the hour.

 + -1 moreThe company was quick to respond; the service man courteous, etc. The price seemed steep, considering that the per call charge was $59 and they had to travel a very short distance to get here. I would bet that all told, it took 1 hour for the whole job, start to finish so I was surprised that labor was $150. However, I don't know how to do it myself, so that's just the way it is, but I'd be clear when I talked to them about how the charges would be figured next time.

Description of Work: Came out the SAME DAY I phoned to assess a broken dishwasher. Due to age and parts no longer available, machine could not be repaired. But service person was very tidy, gave great recommendations for future purchases, styles, pros and cons of features, etc. VERY helpful.

Even though it was unrelated to the cooling problem, he adjusted the door that was sagging and gave tips on how to prevent it from happening again. I was very happy with his overall service.
Description of Work: My side by side Maytag refrigerator was not cooling properly. The repairman replaced the timer and thermostat defroster.

 + -1 moreALTHOUGH THE SERVICE AND PARTS TO FIX OUR STOVE WERE EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO THE COST OF A NEW STOVE ($300 TO FIX, PROBABLY $550 TO BUY NEW), I WAS PLEASED TO KEEP MY CURRENT STOVE, BECAUSE I LIKE ITS LOOK.
Description of Work: THE OVEN IN OUR (ELECTRIC) RANGE DID NOT SEEM TO BE HEATING CONSISTENTLY, AND THE TOP OF THE STOVE GOT VERY HOT WITH THE OVEN ON. J & J DETERMINED THE OVEN DOOR WAS NOT SEALING WHEN CLOSED. NEW HINGES HAD TO BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED, AND THE GASKET AROUND THE OVEN DOOR WAS REPLACED.

A CHOICE WAS GIVEN TO REPLACE OR REPAIR AFTER THE COST OF REPAIR WAS PRESENTED. THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE DRYER WAS OTHERWISE IN GOOD CONDITION, SO THE BEST CHOICE WAS TO REPAIR. Description of Work: TWO REPAIRMEN CAME TO MY HOME TO LOOK AT MY LARGE WINDOW AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. THEY REMOVED THE UNIT TO TAKE TO THEIR SHOP TO ASSESS AND REPAIR. THEY COVERED THE WINDOW OPENING WITH CARDBOARD AND TAPE (BECAUSE OF THE FIXTURE, THE WINDOW WILL NOT CLOSE). POWER WASHED THE UNIT, ADDED COOLANT AND RETURNED IT TWO DAYS LATER. THEY DID THE WORK THEY PROMISED AND IN A TIMELY MANNER.
