+ -1 morePositive overall. Having lived for many years in a home with a basement, we were not ready for an ant invasion made worse by this winter's rain and higher temperatures. We were quite impressed at how efficiently the ants were dispatched.
Description of Work: Called Hoban.Services because of an ongoing ant problem in the house. They came out the next day and we havn't seen any ants since then. Hopefully the problem is solved.

+ 0 moreWe have used them for years and they are really terrific. It is a company that I think does really good job. I would absolutely recommend them. They do pest control and they also come and clean our gutters for us every fall and in the spring. They do lots of different services and they are really professional also. They do a great job. They do our pest control every year in the spring. They are very responsive. One time in the past we have had ant issues at our house. They guarantee their work and they do come back. They tell us to call them if we see anything, even one and they come back like the next day or so to take care of it again. So it is great.
Description of Work: Hoban Services Inc cleaned all the gutters in November. We have a high house and they climb up there and get everything up on the peaks of the roof.

They told us from the get-go that they are very hard to get rid of. If they come back, they are out right away. They gave us a little discount since they had been out in the summer, which was nice. They are very good. We called them that morning and they were out that afternoon. We plan to continue using them.

+ -1 moreI've used them for several years. They come out once a year. They do great job. The first time when I ever used them they came out at 6 o'clock. My ninety five years old mother had bees all over her bedroom. They came out after hours, took care of the bees and helped me take my mom in and out of the room. They are pretty reasonable price wise and good guys.
Description of Work: I used Hoban Pest Control Service in May or June to remove bugs and do some treatment to prevent them.

+ -1 moreAt 6:00 a.m. I heard a "scratch-scratch-scratch" INSIDE my lower level bedroom wall. It just had to be little critter in there trying to get out. Not a fun wake-up call. I called Hoban Pest Control at 8:00 a.m. They were able to have one of their technicians, Brad, here by noon. Brad was efficient, personable, and knowledgeable. He was able to actually catch and remove the little field mouse within an hour. He also surveyed the exterior of my home, caulked outside openings around the air conditioner input, and set traps and put out bait in the furnace room and in the garage. Hoban provides a follow-up visit one week later. Barrett was here right on time; placed the promised hardware cloth in an open ventilation area and checked all traps. No critters. Hoban also has a 90 day guarantee and Barrett made sure that I knew about it. I am going to use Hoban again in the spring for spraying. They did a thorough and efficient job in a timely, professional manner.

+ -1 moreHoban showed up promptly on time. Dave Hoban was looking for mice issue as well as flying squirrels. He did complete evaluation outside and in my garage before proceeding to my attic where i have been hearing noises for several months. He found no mouse droppings or any type of mice activity in attic or garage. However he found nutshells of acorns and other foodsources in attic and discovered at one of the roof peak vents there was a screen broken where entry occurred. He set traps to see what we could catch and repared both roof vents. He follwed up in a week and cought four squirrels and reset the traps. So far so good. No more sounds. He will be back on the10th of November for a follow-up. great job!

+ -1 moreThey took care of our mice problem quickly by putting traps and bait bags all over our crawl space and attic. The mice were gone in a few days. Hoban made a second trip out to remove them, when they also found a point of entry. Hoban came back a third time (for a fee of $35) to staple it shut (I had a screen they could use.) This was beyond their usual range of service; I think that perhaps filling cracks is more of what they mean when they say that they will seal points of entry. You may have to ask them specifically what services are included in that first-time payment. Nevertheless, they were very pleasant to work with: they did all their work promptly, politely, and thoroughly, and we would call on them again.
Description of Work: They killed and collected the mice in our crawl space; they also found and sealed the point of entry.

The technician came back 2 weeks later to check the bates and replace some that were eaten. Their price was competitive with other pest control companies. I think they give a 90 day guarantee for their work, but I didn’t need them to come back.

+ -1 moreThe son of the business owner came the first time around. He was personable and set traps. The second and third visits, it was the business owner who came out. He was very impersonal with little social skills. They did not solve our problem and seemed very "put out" by us calling them a third time after we continued to get mice in. This was very disconcerting, as we had a baby on the way when we called them and wanted to solve the rodent problem immediately. They didn't seem to care and even questioned why we might have mice in the house in the middle of the summer as "It's rare that they infest in the summer since it's warm outside". We will not be calling them again or recommending them!
Description of Work: Overall assessment on mice infestation. Our cats had caught about 3 mice before we called Hoban. Hoban came in and set traps and bait and inspected where mice might be entering the home then returned a week later to check the status. They said it wasn't a nest so there probably weren't anymore mice in the house. In the week between, our cats kept catching mice (about 5). Upon returning the business owner returned and said the cats probably had caught all the mice but he would set more traps. Afterward, our cats caught even more mice... about 5.(Clearly we did have a nest!). We called and demanded Hoban return to check where mice might be coming in. The owner identified a hole in our siding and said they were probably coming in there but he didn't have the skills to patch the hole in our siding-- we should "call an expert" to do that. He checked all the traps he had set in the previous visit and they were empty to our cats probably caught them all. Hm, glad we hired an exterminator! After all that they never collected the traps that they set, we had to remove them ourselves!

+ -1 moreLast year, I noticed an infestation of bees coming into my basement. I called around and located Hoban Pest Control. They came out and sprayed and eliminated the issue. Very friendly and knowledgeable. They mentioned a yearly service. A couple of months later, I signed up for yearly service. They sent me a letter informing me of the dates. One of the dates it was raining. They came out a couple of weeks later, the invoice did mention that the service was late due to weather. I understood why they couldn't come out, but would have liked hearing from them (I thought they forgot about me.) A couple of weeks after the spraying, a nest was noticed on my roof. I called and they came out later that day.
Description of Work: Bee control issue. Signed up for yearly service.

+ -1 moreWe decided to contact Hoban because they offered the most reasonable explanations and cost. They were also able to schedule an appointment in a reasonable time. We were very impressed with how much both employees knew. It did not take very long for the first young man to determine the problem. He explained that it was clear that the mice could not have been in the attic long, and that they may have entered in an opening from the recently installed air conditioning unit. All the roofers and I felt very badly that he unexpectedly locked the keys in his truck while it was running! Who hasn't done that! Another employee came the following week. He concurred that the mice had disappeared and then closed up a couple possible places that they may have entered. He also took extra time to explain the terms of the warranty--although we hope we never have to take advantage of those services again!
Description of Work: Our roof, including sheathing, was replaced. When one of the roofers removed a section of old plywood, very small mice scattered from a corner of the attic. We immediately consulted Angie's List for pest control companies. The woman at Hoban who answered the telephone was extremely knowledgeable and very gracious. Since she was the first place we called, she understood that we needed to make more calls before we could decide who we'd hire. Hoban came to our home and inspected the attic, placed pesticide in areas deemed appropriate, and then returned the following week to make sure the mice were gone. There is a 90 day warranty for the services provided.

Description of Work: We had an ant problem in our kitchen (probably due to the rainy spring). Saw this company on Angies list and called them. They came out quickly (next day), did an extensive treatment, and said to give it a few days and call them if we still saw ants. After a few days we still saw some ants, called them, they came out and retreated some areas promptly. We have not seen any ants since a few days after the second treatment.
