It was a challenge finding a good contractor for our deck project during COVID. We eventually found Michael who is knowledgable, has good communication and offered reasonable pricing. We ended up choosing Michael's company "Touch of Class" to do a fairly high-end deck with Timberteck Azek decking and cable rails. His team worked fast and did a fantastic job. The deck is beautiful and the guys were great with the little details and cleanup. We are extremely happy with the results and would pick Michael again in a second. We even recommended him to our neighbor who was looking to do his deck and like what he saw on our project.

Michael was great in explaining the different decking products. He also went over what he recommended for our deck replacement plan. Very prompt and kept to schedule for completing our project. Would definitely recommend him for your project.

I am happy to recommend Michael Palmentieroâ company Touch of Class. In March 2022, the company replaced our existing wood deck with Timber Tech, including all the railings and stairs. Touch of Class did a great job. Michael worked through all aspects of the work with us including helping us pick the right materials and color. The crew worked quickly and efficiently. After removing the existing decking, they inspected the joists and recommended replacements for cracked and rotting timbers. The lead worker, Nelson, is a master at problem solving. The cost was reasonable, including necessary extras. Michael was responsive to all our requests and personally inspected the work. The job was professionally conducted and workmanship was excellent. I highly recommend them.

I'm a new homeowner, and the prospect of hiring contractors to do significant work to our house is still a little daunting. But seeing a lot of positive reviews here, on Google Reviews and from our neighborhood community mailing list gave me a lot of confidence. Michael and his crew did great work. Would highly recommend him.

[edit 10/28/22] it has been some time since our deck was completed. The deck seems to have some problems with floorboards after it rains... and I noticed missing screws on the railing corners. I have been in 5 month holding pattern of call/cancel/no show/vacation for a fix. i will keep you updated --------------- I am very pleased with the deck that Mike, Nelson and team built this past November. The deck build quality is great and the crew is very experienced. I would recommend them! They always began on time and cleaned up the area prior to leaving for the day. They were always courteous and professional. All the cuts are square, boards are level and columns are plumb.

The project took longer than was expected with extra cost. I had to point out several things that were not up to standard. Was told by a contractor that this is not a perfect world.

Mike and his crew are top notch professionals and very skilled at their trade. I am beyond words how my deck came out. It came out beautiful! If you're looking for a new deck, or to replace your existing deck hire Touch of Class. You won't be disappointed.

Michael and his team did an excellent job building our new composite deck. It was not a simple rectangle deck, but rather a more complicated three-level deck with a variety of specific detail criteria. His team did the entire project in the coldest part of the winter and faced with occasional snowstorms, but it didn't slow them down. Deck looks great and would highly recommend Michael and his team.

This review replaces my earlier posting where I rated A Touch of Class and its owner Michael Palmentiero with ½ star. My current overall rating is 2 ½ stars based on Michael s good faith attempt to correct the problems with the deck. I do appreciate his efforts but am still left with a subpar deck. I also very much appreciate Home Advisor acting as an intermediary between Michael and me. During the entire process Michael has been courteous and non-confrontational. The deck design is basically an ordinary one level rectangle, approximately 12 x 20 . Your every day deck, nothing special. But right from the start I noticed that the deck vibrated when walked on, causing the railing spindles to vibrate and make a loud noise. About a year later I noticed that at least one of the supporting posts had sunk, making some parts of the deck higher than others. Rain accumulates in the shallower portions. I have been told by three different deck companies that the deck s substructure is insufficient and with a 12 span should have been supported in the middle, which it was not. That is why the deck vibrates when walked on. There should also have been blocking between the joists. Since it is low to the ground the deck cannot be repaired from underneath. The only way to fix things is to remove the decking and railings, replace the posts that have moved, insert blocking between the joists and dig additional post holes to support the deck s middle. The three companies agree that once removed, the Timber Tech decking cannot be reused. In effect, I need to have the deck disassembled and rebuilt with new flooring. Many thousands of dollars for materials and labor. My town required a permit to build the deck and the submission of an architect s drawings with the application. Michael maintains that he built the deck in accordance with the architect s plans and any blame lies with the architect. I am not an engineer so do not know if the plans were followed but it seems to me that anyone who has years of experience in deck building, as Michael told me he had, should have known that the deck had to be supported in the middle. With Home Advisor acting as an intermediary, Michael agreed to install blocking between the joists and to caulk the railing spindles to stop them from vibrating and making noise. Nothing can be done about the moved posts. Two of his employees spent a few hours doing this and the vibration is decreased but still noticeable. The spindle noise is mostly gone but I do not know how long the caulking will last before it has to be reapplied, spindle by spindle. In other words, basically a band-aid fix was all that is possible. I know that most people have given Michael a favorable review but unfortunately for me, my experience has not been good, therefore I would not recommend him.

Michael and his team did a professional job of repairing our screened in porch which needed large sections of wood replacing and new screens. Michaelâ s communication was clear, and his team came on time and completed the job in the specified time period. The work was neat and looks very good.

Michael was great and thorough with excellent communication throughout the process of our deck build. There was a material price increase that was unexpected and I feel we were treated extremely fairly. We were told to expect a couple of days but in the end it was about 5 hours for a few people to transform our mud pit to a beautiful deck under a covered spot. Very pleased and would absolutely hire Touch of Class again for future projects. The deck is attractive, functional, and feels absolutely solid. Can't wait to enjoy it for many years.

The crew came every day, on time, worked really hard and completed the job in a timely fashion. They were pleasant, helpful, easy to work with. And we just LOVE our new deck. They replaced an old cedar deck with composite and it looks terrific. We are very happy.

Mike and his team were quick, inexpensive, and friendly. They stuck to their quotes and I asked them back again and again. Great hard working honest guys.
