Charlie and Lynette were very personable and easy to discuss ideas with. They were patient and always responded promptly to questions. Charlie was very creative when brainstorming ideas for our new kitchen layout. We ended up taking out a wall and totally changing the layout of our kitchen. They installed white painted upper cabinets and dark stained lower cabinets. They were not reponsible for our floors or backsplash. While we are enjoying our new kitchen and we get many complements on it, the attention to detail (for a costum cabinet builder) was disappointing. When the cabinets were installed, there were several details that differed from our paper plans; cabinets were installed instead of pull out drawers (they later fixed this), a pull out garbage was forgotten (they put a pull out garbage frame in a cabinet to fix this problem), our pantry was 2 inches narrower than planned (they installed two slideout drawers on the lower two shelves to compensate for this issue), and one side of an exposed upper cabinet was not painted (they put a 1/4 inch piece of painted wood over this to cover the unfinished wood). All of these issues had to be brought to their attention, they were not forthcoming with the "errors." In addition to these installation issues there were several unstained edges on the bottom cabinets (when they returned to our house they never stained these edges even though we left post-its where there were stain issues; instead they left extra stain on our counter and we had to stain the unstained edges and nail holes ourselves). They hung finishing panels under the peninsula completely unlevel (they were able to remove them and rehang them). When they installed the crown molding they did not fill the nail holes (to fix this, they filled them with more paint). During the molding installation, they damaged one of our upper cabinets and never mentioned it. It had a significant dent in it, which they tried to fix by filling it with paint; it actually looked worse after the fix (my husband removed the door and delivered it to them, so that they could fix the door properly). The lower stained moldings seem to be cheaply made; they splitter off so easily. They were installed on a Monday and by that Friday there was exposed raw wood on the moldings. Our lazy susan door was hung crooked; Charlie repaired it, but now the door does not close all the way (this is not something that you would notice if you weren't using it). Lynette and Charlie were always willing to correct/fix problems. However, through the multiple visits, they continually asked and reminded us of our final payment. It bothered me that they were concerned about receiving their last $500, but they were hasty and careless when fixing issues. I will admit that I am a perfectionist. I believe that 80% of homeowners would be completely happy with our kitchen renovation. This review is to alert the 20% of homeowners who expect perfection. I do not think that you will receive perfection when working with Salmon Creek, you will get "good enough." I'm choosing to enjoy the kitchen, but I will be honest that the imperfections bother me.

We hired Salmon Creek cabinetry to update our kitchen with custom cabinets and a revamped layout. It was a pleasure working with Lynnette and Charlie. They came in with some great recommendations regarding the layout and we are extremely pleased with the result. The workmanship is excellent! They made sure all our requirements were met and were extremely responsive throughout the entire process. We are delighted with our kitchen and highly recommend Salmon Creek cabinetry for any remodeling work.

Description of Work: We hired them to make custom cabinets for our kitchen. Cabinets had to be remade because of measurement errors. The paint color not match the original cabinets. Cabinet doors had horizontal & vertical cracks from the day they were installed. We were told that this was because of the humidity of our home and nothing could be done about it. On the first day of demo some electric was turned off. It was discovered 5 days later that our deep freeze was turned off. We lost $1,400 in food. At the end of the job we were told that we owed them an additional $1,400. When we complained about the way our bay window & kitchen was installed we were told that it couldn't be changed. We paid another contractor to correct the problems. They refused to install the bottom trim on the cabinets until the back splash was done. Since this remodel started I've been dealing with Ovarian & breast cancer. 2 surgeries & 2 round of chemo. A back splash is not a priority for me. We have electric wires hanging our of the wall. The baseboards in the living room, which we paid for, are not complete. He was going to make bookcases & felt that we didn't need for the baseboard to go to the fireplace. He now refuses to complete the baseboards or the bookcases. We made the mistake of paying for everything except the additional $1400. |I sent them many email but was ignored. We spent close to $45,000 and the job is unfinished. Friends & family can not believe that the job is still unfinished.
