They had water damage in the roof to repair and porcelain tile to replace. They dragged their feet in putting me on the schedule after first coming in August to look at the job. I was told continuously by Maria that she would call me at the end of the day but the call never came. She then became unpleasant when I would contact them. The work was done only after Angies list sent me a review of them and I called Jeff Troost himself. He asked me not to fill out the review until after they came and I was then put on the schedule. It was a frustrating experience. The two men who eventually came were professional and did a good job. Despite this I don't plan on using them again. Thank you.

This is the second time we used Troost and I would not consider using any other contractor in the future but them. Once you have the best you don't have to think about the rest. They are all honest, communicative gentleman. We were sad to see them go, and look forward to using them in the future. Our custom screened in porch was done like an artist without any problems. God Bless them all!

Although the gentleman who came out was nice and he spent time here, it took him two weeks to get me the quote and it was inaccurate. I have a five-inch double siding and he put four and a half inches. He left off the roofing portion of the siding so I did not go with him. He also had a higher price than everybody else and I just did not like the fact that he did not seem to be too interested because it took him two weeks to give the quote and it took me three phone calls. The quote was also incomplete. I think that if I called him back and said, "What about this?" he probably would have put it on there, but as far as the cost goes, he was the most expensive. He did not get back to me in a timely manner but he was on time for his appointment. When he was here and taking the information from me, he was very professional about it. I would consider hiring him in the future.

They constructed a new mantle from a photo. They painted several rooms and installed new front doors and several window. They are an amazing team of professionals. Project management and craftsmanship are superior and their work schedule and project completion beat expectations.

They did the work for me 6 years ago in the fall. They did mostly a full remodel of my kitchen. They were prompt and the work was okay. I feel like they kind of half did something and some other things were not straight, but for the most part they did a good job. I heard about them, because they from this neighborhood. They did have competitive prices too.

They did some work for us a few years ago. They did work on our main bathroom. They did a good job. They were very responsible and responsive to our concerns. We did have to purchase all the supplies ourselves though; for an example the tub they supplied, but we had to purchase the tiles and even had to go get our own grout. They are quite experience, but they have good products.

They do an excellent job. One was a major renovation they did for me was rebuild my entire home about 7 years ago. They also have done some smaller jobs since. I like that they are professional. They keep their timelines that they set up. The workers are courteous and have great craftsmanship. They have reasonable prices and they always come and work the entire day. The finished project looks outstanding. I wished Angie’s List would let me give them an A+.

The project went very well, starting on time and ended very close to when they said it would and close to budget as well. All of the contractor employees and subs were very professional. Completely satisfied with the final product.

They did the work 2-3 year ago for me. They put in a new front door, a storm door; they put in 3 windows in the living room and 2 in the kitchen. They were okay. Their first class workers do big construction work and they do nice work. One of the windows that folded in I couldn’t get it back in track and I asked them if they would come back to help me; and I believe that they did come out to help me. I heard about them, because they worked around houses in Staten Island, and I told myself if I never needed work done around my home, I would call them. They did come out for me and the workers were very nice. I was satisfied with them and their service. They had 3 guys out here who did the work.

They were very good and we had them remodel a brand new kitchen. Two guys came out every day and the actual brothers, who own the company, came out almost every day to check up on the work. They were on time. They got the work done fairly quickly and they also cleaned up well. There was one problem though, we had a complicated backsplash to do and they brought out a tile guy who did a very good job on our floor, but when he came to do the backsplash he said it was complicated and he wanted to charge more for the work. We thought he was trying to get out of the job and we told the contractors and the Troost Brothers never offered to bring another tile guy in. So we then had to go out and get our own backsplash guy to do the work for us an additional $500 and it only took him a couple of hours to do.

They are a wonderful company. They are extremely reliable, but are a tad bit princely. They put in exterior windows. They also did some minor work inside the house for me. You cannot go wrong with using them! As we speak today, they are completely renovating a house across the street and it looks like they are doing a great job.

The estimate was competitive and was delivered promptly. They had explained all of the work that would be done completely and thoroughly. They were fair and patient in my dealings with them. I also felt that they were very accessible when I needed to contact them. I believe they run a highly ethical and high caliber company. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and perfectionism is reflected in every aspect of their work.

Jeff, part owner, drew a rough and comprehensive contract with a professional manner. Scott, other part owner, was attentive supervising and solving any challenges. I highly recommend Troost. They are what you expect to see in an Irish Spring commercial. Clean, honest, reliable, attentive.

Jeff Troost wrote a thorough and comprehensive estimate. Scott Troost was calm, attentive, responsive, and a critical guidance to the sub contractors in addressing any issues in an effective manner. Maria, the administrative assist at their office was friendly, patient, and highly attentive in addressing our needs. Damian did a great job ordering supplies effectively and efficiently. We could have not made it through the process without them. You can TRUST IN TROOST. Scott, also the job foreman, was respectful of his sub-contractors, but also advocated for the customers needs above all. He remained patient and kind throughout the massive ,difficult job that was done until completion. We will truly miss their presence and respect them deeply.

Everything was very nice. I liked the craftsmanship of the workers, the professionalism of the whole procedure. The price was a little high, but overall I was satisfied.

It looks like I'll probably go with them for the work.

They were very flexible. They had a vision of how they wanted to do things and they had ideas. They helped work through the process instead of telling us what we could and couldn't do. They were great and we loved them. They did their job. They did it on time and they were prompt. They did it in the timeline they said. They called if there was anything they couldn't do. They showed up when they needed to show up. They were good and we didn't have problems with them. The pricing was fair. We got what we paid for. They were not cheap but they were worth it. We would use them again if we had the pricing.

Overall they did a good job. I would recommend them.

We had problems right from the very beginning of the project. We were very specific about the materials that we expected to be installed on our home and had them specified in the contract. The new materials were delivered to my home after the subcontractor had already torn off a significant portion of the roof. I pointed out to the subcontractor that some of the materials that were delivered were different than were agreed in the contract. The subcontractor said that Troost Brothers was responsible for ordering materials and that they often ordered the same materials regardless of what the contract stated. They also said that the materials "were all the same." I contacted Troost Brothers, who were almost never on site unless they had to pick up a check, and they said that they had to continue with the materials on hand since the roof was already partially removed. This was an outrageous response but I was trying to avoid a situation where the contractor walks off leaving me with a gaping hole in my roof. After the roof was installed, I pointed out serious deficiencies to Troost Brothers. They acknowledged that the roof was not installed properly, but stated that they "couldn't afford to do it again". I said that I fully expected the roof to be reinstalled, but they refused. I even showed them sections of roofing guidelines that outlined the proper installation methods. They stated that they "believed me" that the roof was not done correctly, but were not going to fix it. As I feared, sections of the roof began separating from my home and leaking. Troost Brothers was required to return to my home on four separate occasions within a year of the initial installation to fix these problems. Each time they returned, I reiterated that I expected the entire roof to be reinstalled or that I would pursue legal action. At one point, they brought two "independent" contractors, who happened to be members of the local home improvement contractors association (as is Troost Brothers), to evaluate the roof. Even though they were aware of the number of problems that had already occurred, they tried to convince me that the installation was correct. I hired a professional architect to evaluate the installation and get an unbiased third party opinion on the situation. He confirmed that the roof was, in fact, not installed correctly. He was shocked that any contractor would claim the installation was correct given the obvious problems. I finally was left with no choice but to file a lawsuit against Troost Brothers. And oddly enough, as soon as the suit was filed, someone starts phoning in fraudulent, anonymous angry homeowner complaints against me to the local department of buildings claiming that I'm constructing an "oversized" deck in my yard. the timing was interesting considering the deck was standing for years and is the smallest one in the neighborhood. Lucky, it wasn't a problem because, unlike my roof, my deck was built well and according to the local building code. Since filing the suit, I've had to hire a third party roofing contractor to repair other leaks in the roof. In addition, other sections of the roof are showing signs of warping, another indication of the poor job that was done by Troost Brothers. How quickly facts change - Troost is now attempting to identify a different entity as the subcontractor (one that actually has a license) who performed the work on my home, and not the company identified on the business card provided to me at the time the work was completed. If you call The New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, they will confirm that multiple complaints have been filed against Troost Brothers. Troost Brothers has absolutely no integrity and is completely incompetent. And let's face it, can any homeowner afford to have a contractor work on his or her house that doesn't have the resources to fix their mistakes?

They are wonderful and well managed, which is why I chose them. Their office staff is very good. The same foreman was always on sight. They were a little pricey based on other estimates, but well worth the extra money!

From estimate to punch list everyone involved was punctual, professional and neat. Phone calls were returned promptly, appointments kept on time, very good communications maintained during every phase of the job, all work done professionally, and the job site left clean and neat each night. While the estimate was not the lowest I received, it was one of the best and fairest I have ever received. They explored all the various options and scenarios with me in the initial phase. Once the initial estimate was accepted and the work begun, when the existing garage insulation was found to be very good, a credit for that portion of the job was immediately offered. When the new Pella door arrived in one piece rather than the expected 3 pieces, it had to be hoisted up over the deck as it was too big to be brought in through the house. While this entailed the unexpected cost of the labor of several extra men for several hours, the estimate was not increased. An excellent experience.

The work was very extensive and this company did an excellent job. We were very satisfied with every aspect of the project. The follow through with this company was great. They also made sure to come back and correct any problems immediately. I was pleased with the service and I would recommend them to anyone.

Troost Brothers did excellent work for us. They came on time and completed the entire job with minimal disruption to us and the rest of our house. Every detail was done as we requested. They used quality materials and did the work at fair market value for our area. I would rather not discuss financial matters but we were comfortable with the cost. There was one minor problem after the job was completed and they were here immediately to rectify the problem at no cost. We would definitely recommend their work to others.

THEY WERE FANTASTIC. I EXPECTED A HORROR STORY, BUT I WAS VERY PLEASED. THEY DIDN'T WASTE ANY TIME. EVERY DAY SOMEONE WAS HERE TO DO WORK. THEY SCHEDULED EVERYTHING RIGHT TO THE MINUTE. ALL OF THEM WERE PROFESSIONAL AND VERY NEAT. THEY CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. I HAD LITTLE TO CLEAN AFTER THEY LEFT. THE KITCHEN IS EVERYTHING THAT WE PLANNED, SO THAT IS PRETTY AMAZING.
