Paul and Jake were great from the beginning. Paul came over explained exactly what I would need to get the job done. He answered all my questions and even did the estimate after 5:00PM. Since I work late. His son Jake installed my two Nest Thermostats and everything is working great. I would HIGHLY recommend this company. They do excellent work.

Paul Scholz, owner of Phoenix Air Conditioning and Heating is the most dishonorable person. He sold me a new heat/AC split system in March of 2020 during the peak beginning of the Covid pandemic. The unit NEVER worked properly and although Paul personally assured me he would make sure all went well he was totally unresponsive when ever things were wrong. When I did get him to respond finally he blamed everything on Covid and how he lost employees etc. Meanwhile the YORK lemon system he sold me NEVER worked and he and his service people were impossible to get anything done. Eventually i needed to get a different company to service my new unit and after several bad inverter boards, multiple service calls, 2 bad compressors I had had enough. York refused to change the brand new lemon unit and Sure enough, Paul still would not respond to my calls, texts and emails and neither he and YORK would honor the warranty saying the unit worked fine before some other company worked on which is such BS. This is the most dishonorable company I have ever dealt with and YORK unit is a lemon and they should be ashamed to not back up their product!

My house was built six years ago so everything is relatively new. On one of the coldest nights of this year we had no heat. We being my husband and I and our 5 children between the ages of 9 years to 12 months. I called the company that installed the HVAC and was paid thousands of dollars to install this system originally by my builder as I was not able to reach my builder. The company person who answered said the house service call would be 175$ to determine what was wrong and then parts and labor to correct. They sent someone who was either incompetent or not trained properly because it took him two and a half hours of wandering around my house to tell me “keep all the heat off because all three of your circulators are broken and call a plumber in the morning because we don’t fix that. He then charged me not $175 but $280 saying he spent extra time to figure it out. I was intimidated and made out a check and we froze all night. The next day I spoke to my builder and he said he is no longer using that company because he had to chase them all the time to get things done and unpleasant to work with!! I got a plumber who immediately determined that I did not have 3 broken circulators (something he said made no sense anyway on a relatively new house) he adjusted some things and fixed one circulator in about 45 minutes and charged me less than the idiot that came from Phoenix. I feel that I agreed to the $175 service call and that was my mistake but to pay for incompetence with overtime too is wrong. I have called the company over 20 times and been told the owner Paul Schotz would be calling me back but her never has. I want them to refund the extra I paid for their horrible service call at the very least! I am going to keep posting and filing complaints until it is resolved because they are wrong and deserve for others to know who they are. Now that I am reading all the bad reviews I guess people already know how bad they are!!! Any good reviews are probably written by them! Avoid this company and Paul Schotz!

Phoenix does not stand behind its repairs. I had Phoenix repair one of the air conditioning units that they had installed at my house several years ago. The repair did not work and I asked them to come back a few weeks later to again fix the same exact problem. This was a follow-up visit. They tried to say it was a separate problem, blaming it on a circuit breaker. All the technician did was flip a breaker off and on during a 2-minute visit. Then they proceeded to try to charge me another $190 for his hard work during the 2 minutes he was here. In all likelihood, the repairs they made initially were unnecessary (especially since they did not work) and so I paid almost $600 for nothing. As evidenced by other reviews on Angie's List and elsewhere on the net, steer clear of this Company. They have no sense of customer service and want to grab every penny they can from you. I won't be paying that bill. Like others, they say they will be taking me to court. I will see them there and will likely counter-sue for the cost of the repairs that were unnecessary. Do yourself a favor. Use a more reputable firm. Many are listed here on Angie's List. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Absolutely a scam. Repair issues for people under service contract are put at the back of the line vs. new installs. Paul (the owner) never calls back customers and only gets involved to fraudulently inflate the bill. After weeks of trying to get them to come down to fix problem under contract, they finally come down and then try to charge for work 3 weeks later after deciding they didnt think it was covered by the contract. Borderline fraudulent company. STAY AWAY!!!! Talked to many others that have had similar problems. Look on-line.... many, many bad reviews

I called Phoenix AC to check out the central air in the home I just bought. I was quoted a price of $165 for a half hour of work. When the technician got here he took a quick look and then spent 10 minutes in his truck "getting tools", he walked back into my home with a tool box and ladder. He then went to look at my system and proceeded to tell me how old it was and that it was in bad shape and should replace it (which I do not disagree with). He then hooked up a bottle of freon without asking or explaining the price. I got charged $225 for 3 pounds of freon. If I had such an old system that just needed to be replaced why would he do that without just giving me the option of looking at replacing it first. After that he came into my house and spent 15 minutes walking around my home talking about putting in a new system, looking where he would add ducts, checking out my electric panel etc. After that he spent another few minutes in his truck and came back with a bill for $554 for the original 1/2 hour service, 3 pounds of freon and an additional half hour of service. I should not have been charged for him to walk around trying to sell me a new AC, I could have gotten any company to come in and give me a free estimate. I contacted Phoenix with my complaints and got nowhere, they were rude and very unhelpful. I am very unhappy with this company and would not recommend them to anyone.

Absolutely the worst experience I have had in my home renovation. Stay AWAY. Besides the fact that they do NOT return any phone calls and are totally unprofessional, there awful work and failure to tell me what boiler requirements cost me over $6,000! Beware of this company. I never post bad reviews, but I felt I needed to warn others about them.

They were horrible. My recommendation is to never use them. There was lack of communication, lack of keeping their appointments, and lack of honesty regarding what needs to be done. They never got back to me. I have actually haven’t gotten a bill for something they did a year ago.

I had three estimates and they had the very best price. They were not only here on time but they did the work in one day. I can't say enough about how wonderful this experience has been. Everyone from the owner down to the installation crew was just great and professional. The girls in the office were right on top of the contract, if there was a change they took care of it right away. They respond to emails and were wonderful on the follow up calls making sure that everything was going good. I definitely would recommend them to anyone. They had great communication as well. I just can't say enough about them.
Description of Work: They came and installed a 5 ton central air unit in my house and they did the duct work. I paid under $10,000.00. They even cleared out the closets to do the work. They were through and through good people and it was not a high pressure sell at all. I am very impressed with how clean and neat the workers were. They put down drop clothes every were made sure they did not walk some were they shouldn't. They swept up after themselves. It was like they were never here. They cleaned out the closets that they needed to do duct work in and put everything very neatly to one side. They were here at 10:30 in the morning and did not leave until nine pm that night.

On 5/16, installed Central Air. Owner baited and switched units intstalled, for which we paid $15,500. Two day installation was completed in one, by crew working till 11:00PM. Owner failed to appear. Systemic problems appeared from day one: major vibrations and noise, several dysfunctional vents; air handlers placed directly on joists, drains incorrectly installed, refrigerant lines not insulated, copper line sets improperly downsized; circuit breaker panel broken, circuit breakers sawed off, compromising electrical integrity. 20 amp electrical feed shared by 2 handlers, instead of on separate lines; other electrical code violations. Owner refused to call back for 10 days! System oversized by 2 tons, as manual calculation not done. Finally agreed to make some changes, but refused to set up appointment. Second contractor and electrician called in to fix all problems, cost over $11,000!!! Updated:1/18/2010 I have not heard back from Phoenix A/C. Therefore, I would like to add to my report that we were awarded $5,254.73 from the Third District Small Claims Court (Suffolk County, NY) on 10/15/07. The judge wrote: ?weight of credible evidence proved damages of AT LEAST $5,000.? We allowed Phoenix A/C to pay us in 6 installments; they were late on every payment. The Department of Consumer Affairs had to step in several times to ensure compliance of the judgment, which was finally paid in full by August, 2008.
