Work was completed in about 4 weeks and very happy with the result.

They're very prompt and come when they say they will. They're very neat and do alot of other things you may not think of. Things I may have overlooked myself which I was very happy about. He brought his son who was very polite who came as a helper. Everything was put back the way it was. I had a tub attached to the dryer. When they took it apart, the pump kicked off and there was water coming from the pipe itself. The leak was where the pipes joined. They came back today as a courtesy to fix the leak.

Everything was beautiful. I couldn't asked for better. You cannot even tell their was construction done. Steve is so professional, friendly and experienced. He and Charlie did such great work. Next job I do, I will be calling SHD.

Replace 3 windows and siding in one day. Inside trim work was excellently done. Crew cleaned up great. This is the second time we have used this contractor. Very happy with them.

Steve responded immediately to Angie's messaging to setup estimate appointment. Showed up on time and responded back quickly with estimate. The crew was great. Friendly and professional. They removed vinyl siding installed windows reinstalled siding like it was never touched. Inside trim work was meticulous. They also removed siding on family room recapped facia and reinstalled siding, again like it never was disturbed. They left the wok areas immaculate. Definitely will have them in our home again.

Steve did a fantastic job installing a new front door at my house. It was more complicated than installing a typical door as the first floor of my house is constructed of cinder block and brick. The installation required extending the jams and cutting down the door. Steve was very meticulous and neat. Door looks and works great.

The work is nearly at an end, as I have said. He is very likeable, trustworthy, and sensible (will try to save you money wherever possible). Steve will always consult with you first if he finds any problems (forseeable or not). He listens and suggests, but will follow your choices. The spaces are always neat and safe when he leaves for the day. And, when the work is done you are more than happy with it. His prices are perhaps a little higher than most but you will get top-notch work for your hard earned money. This is coming from my past experiences with other contractors: men who talked a convincing story, started out great but in the end, left you with most of the work undone--empty promises that cost me so much more in the end (both time wasted and money spent).. Steve is a professional contractor, his workmanship is high quality and I believe, will last. I think you cannot go wrong with this company--SHD Construction, they will not let you down.

He was excellent. On time, very thorough, caring and even did work on outside of house that I only mentioned that day for first time. He also did the work for us when he had other much bigger jobs pending, but he was reliable and did what he said perfectly. Use this gentle, kind talented man for all your home needs! Steve is part contractor, part master craftsman and part angel (I'll get to that soon.). First let me tell you about his work. Flawless, perfect, works of art. Our second floor could very well be brand new, and custom built. Steve makes creative suggestions and executes his ideas perfectly. His work ethic is top notch. He?s punctual, reliable, and trustworthy. He's very approachable and always available to talk. He's a great communicator, explains things clearly and patiently answers each question. We had a few problems crop up throughout the process. Steve handled each setback calmly and effectively always putting our needs ahead of his plans. One time he even offered to stay late to wait for an appliance repairman until my husband or I could get home. We are so happy with our new rooms. They are truly beautiful. Now to the angel part. The first floor of our home had to be completely redone after Sandy. One afternoon Steve asked us if we ever smelled gas. To make a long story short, the gas line to our stove had a leak (and had probably been leaking ever since our kitchen was redone after Sandy). Steve handled the whole situation. He called National Grid. When they shut off our gas, he had his plumber come to install a temporary electric hot water heater so we could remain in the house. His plumber fixed the problem and Steve was there when National Grid came back to pressure test the new lines. Not only did Steve step up in our moment of crisis, he most likely saved our lives. Steve is not the contractor you want if you're looking to save a buck. But the old adage is true; you get what you pay for. And yet, that's not really true?we got SO MUCH MORE than we paid for. Thank you, Steve, you were truly a godsend.

All I can say is "WOW". Steve Erdmann and his sons were consummate professionals. I was a little skeptical about whether he could re finish our severely damaged bar, let alone in the time frame we were looking for. We were reluctantly resolved to junking the 50 yr old bar because we thought once he looked at it he would tell us it was not repairable. We thought for sure we would have to have a new bar installed. We told Steve how much tradition was tied into this old bar, 50 plus years of events , members past and present, preserving something from our history, and he took the challenge. The bar looks fantastic! We could not even have imagined it looking this good. The membership was in awe watching the craftsmanship of Steve and his sons.We thought we would just put formica on the top of the bar because that what was there to begin with. Steve suggested we go with wood , given it was a yacht club, to preserve the nautical theme.We agreed and boy are we glad we did! The finished product looks great! The bar has a 90 degree curve at either end and posed, what we thought, was a significant problem to replicate with wood. He sliced 13 thin pieces of wood and glued them together around a curved template for the bar rail.It looks like one solid piece of wood. The top of the bar also required numerous cuts to achieve the seamless curve it has. Steve not only replaced what we had , he gave us a beautiful piece of furniture in its place. All I can say is that if your looking for quality work, fast and courteous contractors, look no further. Steve and his sons were an absolute pleasure to work with.Steve's woodworking skills are truly the work of an artist. I would highly recommend SHD construction to anyone looking for true craftsmanship.

We called SHD (Steve) because many of their reviews stated that they worked clean. This was obviously important to us as there would be much demolition in very close proximity to our bedrooms. I wish there was a better word than "cleanliness" for the service they performed each night before they left. I honestly would have thought they had not come if not for the progress on the project, which was swift and professional. Steve (and his son Steven jr) were on the job every day. No day laborers, or other employees, just the owner and his son every day. This too was important to us. I like talking to the guy doing the work. Steve is professional and experienced and brought lots of ideas to our attention and helped us craft the bathroom that best suited us...at our own pace. When we wanted a HUGE vanity, he didn't say no, but rather pointed out why that might not be the best idea. (We chose a smaller vanity and now realize we should have gotten even smaller...not Steve's fault) Steve gave us a quote broken down into 2 parts, labor and materials. We ended up paying for most of the materials ourselves simply because my wife and I wanted to shop for the decorative items ourselves. We ended up buying the tile, vanity, sink, toilet, fixtures and towel racks just because we knew what we wanted. Steve ended up covering the tub, paint and some of the other plumbing extras which we added onto the labor cost with no additional markup (to my knowledge anyway). The original quote came in high and when we discussed how to bring it down, Steve quickly zeroed in on the costliest part of my project...my 2 sided tub. These are expensive custom orders, so we decided on a single sided tub and Steve would build a wall. The cost came down the total of the expensive tub and Steve offered to build a side wall without adding to the overall cost even though this would have added additional labor. In fact he made several other minor repairs around my house with no additional cost just because he was there and it was an easy fix (Like my daughter's door needed new screws and he replaced the cracked saddle in my downstairs bathroom while he was making the saddle for the upstairs bathroom...just because he was a good guy and it wasn't hard for him to do.) More than anything else this was the biggest reason I'd use Steve again, his honesty in pricing and his fair dealing. There was no "nickel and dimeing", no hidden costs and no surprises. Every morning Steve and his son would arrive and spend a minute or two with us explaining what he wanted to get done that day. Sometimes he would get more done, I can't recall a day where he didn't hit his goals. Not only would I recommend Steve (SHD Construction) to others, he has already given my brother an estimate for work to his house, and we have asked Steve to price us out a built in shelf system for my daughter's room. We were very pleased with the high quality work done by Steve. He and his son, both courteous and professional, did the work in a very timely manner. They worked very neatly, and we experienced really no disruption while work was being done. We would definitely use him again and reccommend him to our friends and family.

SHD exceeded all my expectations. Steve was informative and courteous. His estimate was competitive but I received personalized attention. He answered all my questions and concerns. He was amazingly neat. You never knew that any work was completed. My work was completed in a timely matter. He had a great attention to every detail so my end result was perfect.

I'm so grateful I was given Steve's number last year. The waste pipe under my extension broke and flooded under the house and the basement. Steve and Steven rerouted all the plumbing to create a much more efficient solution and bonus no more cast iron from 1930!!! They moved the washer and dryer. My dryer no longer vents at least 15 feet - it is so much safer. And my home was left immaculate - you would have had no idea that they were even there. They work quickly - they clean up - they are genuinely nice people - and most important they know exactly what to do. You are paying for top of the line quality - they treat your home like they were in their home.

We contracted with SHD Construction to do a major remodeling job in our garage where the foundation, wall, ceiling and door required replacement and rebuilding due to previous poor construction and a failing cement foundation. From the beginning, Steve Erdmann, owner of SHD Construction, was forthright with his assessment, took the time to fully explain what the problem was, what was required to repair it and how long it would take to complete. Upon contract signing, SHD worked continuously to complete the work on schedule and on budget. SHD?s work was professional, timely and done in a professional manner. SHD?s work exceeded our expectations and as a result of the excellent work done, we have requested an estimate to remodel the interior of our house. SHD Construction is licensed and bonded and has been in business for over 30 years. I would highly recommend SHD Construction to anyone considering a construction project.

After the brutal winter we had this past year, my concrete front steps cracked, then broke and then became unstable. They needed to be removed and replaced. Steve and his crew did excellent work and right on schedule. I will use him again in the future for my contracting/home repair needs.

Steve was a very nice guy, knew what he was talking about, and was very professional. We decided not to use him because his estimate was twice as much as the other estimates we received from other contractors for the work we wanted done.

Someone else started my deck and I was not satisfied. I purchased the deal and Steve contacted me immediately . He came promptly and rescued my deck. I was very pleased with the job. Steve, owner of SHD was a pleasure to work with. He came by to give an estimate and was very thorough and informative. On the day scheduled for the work he showed up on time and worked throughout the day without even stopping for a real lunch break. He worked late until all work was complete. I was surprised by how much he accomplished in a day. His work was excellent. I have done some construction myself and I was very impressed with the quality of his aluminum work, it was flawless! Everything was done perfectly and he thoroughly cleaned the site leaving no trace on the ground of the work that had been done. I would definitely have him back again knowing that he is reliable and can be trusted to do a great job.
