Did not show up when he said they would. Showed up another day . Did the power washing. Supposedly came back, again, unannounced, to do stain. Said he did the stain but it was raining when he said he did the job so it didn’t work. Would never use this company again.

Please enter what you would like the response to look like:Why wasn't my response posted?? consumers need to hear both sides. we feel that we did nothing wrong, we posted the proof and the only reason customer wrote this review, was due to a small claims court action, we were filling, with all documentations and photos to show they were incorrect, they just didn't want to pay.

Not only was customer service the worst I've have ever dealt it, I called, emailed and texted up to 20 times with no response for 6 weeks. The job they did, for a premium price, was sloppy and haphazard. My real complaint is around the behavior of the owner. He stormed onto my property and unleashed a vicious, expletive-laden tirade, before I could even say anything, leaving the job unfinished. The way they conduct business is a disgrace. His employees were friendly- they did as they were instructed, and when an issue came up, they called the owner for clarification-this is when he showed up in person screaming.
Description of Work: Scrub A Dub sanded the deck- that job was done correctly, timely- then we had our back deck painted, and a few (1-2) boards replaced.

There's a reason why Angie's List users have given this company a D rating. I really didn?t want to write this review. But after weeks of attempting to rectify multiple negative issues with Scrub-A-Dub Industries, I?m left with no other choice. Before I get into the nitty-gritty of what went wrong, simply look at the photos I?ve posted here. Now ask yourself one question, ?Do I want my deck to look like that?? Of course not. And no matter what arguments the company?s owner, Robert Valentino, will surely use to justify his position (as he?s done with many other reviews on this site as well as Google and Yelp), there?s simply no justification for leaving a customer?s home looking like this. I used his service a few years ago. At the time I was very pleased. That previous job turned out amazing, and Mr. Valentino was a man of his word. Unfortunately the Scrub-A-Dub of today bears no resemblance to what it once was. This time I contracted the company to: 1. Pressure wash the deck. 2. Replace rotted boards. 3. Apply new stain to the deck and my exterior basement stairs. 4. Repair the lid of a wooden hose container. Here?s the issues: ? At the end of the job I asked Mr. Valentino?s lead worker if he had moved my barbeque to stain the area under it. He didn?t, but offered to leave me a bucket of stain so I could do it myself. After a call to the office, this was rectified. ? In addition to staining the deck, his workers carelessly stained my siding, sliding screen door, tress, power boxes by the pool, and chain-link fences (refer to the photos). Only some of this was corrected. However, in the process of removing the stain from my screen door, one of his workers partially stripped it of its paint. It eventually had to be replaced at a cost of $124.92. Further, the fence was only partially repaired? with my spray paint. ? During the pressure washing, a lot of the old stain came off the boards. As anyone knows, if those areas are not sanded and stain is simply applied over it, the result is a very uneven look (refer to the photos). I would have gladly opted to pay extra to have the deck sanded and stripped if that?s what was called for. It was never offered, so I didn?t know it needed to be done? until the job was completed and it was too late. ? When it came time to actually repair the lid of the hose container, Mr. Valentino?s men discovered that their boss had purchased the wrong wood and ?couldn?t find the correct lumber anywhere.? His lead worker told me that if I didn?t locate and purchase the wood on my own at that moment, the lid would not be built. I of course found the wood at the first place I looked and bought it at a cost of $101.23. However, despite the fact that I was charged by Scrub-A-Dub for the incorrect lumber, the cost of my purchase was never deducted from my bill. ? I eventually cut my finger on the lid due to their shoddy work. The lid on the aforementioned hose container has nails which are far too long and protrude through the boards. As a result, one has to be extremely careful when lifting the lid in order to avoid injury (refer to the photos). ? There are still boards that are loose, which Mr. Valentino?s employees apparently missed. ? To add insult to injury, his lead employee asked me several times if I would hire him to do side work around my home. Based on a similar experience in another review here on Angie's List, I'm glad I said, "No." ? And last but not least, there are nails protruding from some of the new boards on the deck (refer to the photos). Given that there was wet stain on the deck, it can?t be walked on for 24-hours until it?s dry. As a result, many of the mistakes were not seen for a day. However, those that I was able to see, I mentioned to the lead worker and to Mr. Valentino via phone. Now, here?s where it gets strange. As a firefighter, I gladly go into burning buildings, so there?s not much that can make me nervous. However, Mr. Valentino?s lead worker would be an exception. He?s fairly large and heavily tattooed, and has no qualms about using his physicality to intimidate, which he did when he insisted that I sign the paperwork stating everything had been done to my satisfaction. Several things went through my mind at this point; I could refuse to sign and risk getting into an altercation (with my wife and kids inside the home) or I could simply call Mr. Valentino, relying on the fact that my previous experience with him had been good and he was a man of his word. I opted for the former. What a mistake. Although he sent his guys back to my home, they only corrected some of the mistakes. This time however, there were excuses as to why things couldn't be completed at that moment and the lead worker promised he and his co-workers would return. Again the lead worker handed me another sheet of paper to be signed, and intimidated once more. I again caved, thinking that if I asked Mr. Valentino to come back to my home personally he would surely see that things weren?t to his usual standard. How wrong I was. In short, Mr. Valentino refused to come out and insisted that if his men were to come back, he would charge me a fee. Needless to say, no one has returned and the deck and its surroundings are as you see them in the photos. What had been a business devoted to pride in craft and customer satisfaction, is ? in my opinion ? one that is now replaced by a company more concerned with the bottom-line; the customer be damned. UPDATE: Since writing this review, Mr. Valentino came to my home unannounced and uninvited. I caught him spraying black paint on one of the fences his workers splashed paint on. Unfortunately, it happened to be next to my vegetable garden that I had just planted days earlier. Black paint was now getting all over the vegetables. He was clearly aggravated when I asked him to stop. In addition, I showed him the horrible looking deck boards to which he commented, "Well, I gave you an estimate for this two or three years ago and you thought sanding would be too much money." Well, news flash Mr. Valentino, that was two years ago. Things change. Then I showed him the new screen door that had to be replaced and he offered absolutely no comment; not a sorry, not a "can I reimburse you?" Last but not least, when I showed him the hose container lid, he asked if he could take it to his "shop" to repair it. He returned several hours later -- again unannounced -- and left it against my garage. He didn't even have the courtesy to put it back where it belonged or to ring the door bell. To add insult to injury, several of the nails are now pushed up through the top of the lid and there is a large scratch on it as well. And as far as Scrub-A-Dub's promise in the Provider Response of a reimbursement from their "accounting department"... it never arrived. Surprise, surprise. Just amazing to watch this guy blow an opportunity to rectify a wrong,

Response from SCRUB-A-DUB INDUSTRIES
Dear [Member Name Removed], In response to your review on your recent experience with our company, I wish to apologize. Situations such as yours rarely happen. Our company invests every year in the training of our employees thru yearly certifications and new employees go thru a 2 week field training before they are sent out to service our clients. That is not to say that we don't run into problems from time to time as do all companies that service a large number of customers. However, when it comes to our attention that our client was not treated in a professional manner, we act quickly to rectify the situation. In your case, your concerns were not addressed properly and I as owner should have stepped in much sooner. I have addressed the employee who worked on your project and this has been dealt with appropriately. Our company has always been known for its quality service, professionalism and customer care. Though our goal is 100% customer satisfaction, we get to satisfy only 99% and unfortunately you were that 1% who we were not able to give the quality and service you deserve. I thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to our attention, which helps our company work harder to insure that this does not happen to anyone else. I will have our accounting department reimburse you for the cost of the storm door. Thank you for your input. I hope that Scrub A Dub can again be the same great company that you had experienced in the past.

Last spring Scrub-a-Dub Industries sanded my deck to get the old peeling stain off. Then applied a new semi-transparent stain to my large deck. Everything went great and the finished deck look amazing!!! After a harsh winter the deck was already in bad shape after just one season. But Scrub-A-Dub stands by their work and came back an power washed the deck (for a very fair price) and then re-stained the deck for free. They even showed me a few boards that were rotted and were able to replace them on the spot. What more could you want from a contractor. Great communication, fair price and standing by their work!!! Highly recommended!

I was highly disappointed. He did refund my money. Apparently his boss watched the job being done and the guys did the job but it didn't turn out right. The price was high. He was charging a high price and said he was doing everything in the right place.
Description of Work: I used the deck maintenance and pressure washing service of Scrub-A-Dub Industries. I have a brand new deck installed and according to their website they have a certain procedure that they followed on how they work on new decks. They didn't the procedure at all. They came along and did a high pressure washer on the brand new wood and damaged the deck.

This particular customer, had hired my employees to do side work for him without my knowledge, our employee's also found it to be strange, that the home owner was recording them and taking photos without them knowing about it, it was found out that this customer was having troubles with other contractors, and yes ,I as owner of the company stopped any further work to be done and refunded all moneys back to customer I believed that this was a smart move on our part, if this puts a negative mark against us, I'm willing to take the hit on this one, But for everyone else check us out with BBB, and both Dept. of Consumer Affairs and you will see A+ rating and no complaints in 30 years. We stand behind our work no questions asked.

I thank you for your review, and yes I must admit that there are time that can be difficult to reach, that's due to going around to each of my customers job site in order to insure that their project is going well, or I'm on an estimate or working on a job site myself, as a small business the owner is having to were many hats, and I no longer give out my cell number since my wife gets made when customer will call you as late as midnight or when in church on Sundays. so I'll have to work harder on retuning phone calls ASAP. THANK YOU

I received an estimate from Mr. Valentino ( SDI) on 3/10/12. The estimate was for power washing my deck and front steps. After getting four estimates I decided to go with this company. I didn't decide to get the work done until mid may because I have a inground pool. Mr. Valentino's worker showed up on time in a white van with the Scrub_A_Dub logo on the side. We spoke for a few minutes about the task and then he started the job. He explained that the deck would have to e dry for approximately 72 hours before it could be painted. I was instructed to call the company when I completed the opening of my pool and someone would come out to complete the job. We got a lot of rain in May and June. On July 5th I called SDI and left a message on the machine requesting an appointment to have my deck completed. Mr. Valentino called me back and stated that it had been very busy at the office and that he had required surgery on his knee. He thought the job had been completed. The Laborer that started my job called me the next day and stated that Mr. Valentino had threatened to fire him if he did not complete the job. He started venting about his boss stating that he owed him money and stated that he had to get an order of protection against his girlfriend. (too much Information!!). My Valentino now claims that I did not hire his company . He claims that he told his worker to tell me that this job was side work. He claims that I agreed to this. When I dispute this fact for several reasons. 1. I never met his worker until he showed up at my home to do the work. The only time I spoke to him is when he called and asked for the cross street. 2. I would have no reason to suspect anything when the worker reported to my home in the company van. Mr Valentino now claims that he fired him for unauthorized us of the company vehicle. 3. I have phone records to prove all the conversations I held with Mr. Valentino before filing a complaint. I never spoke to his worker until Mr. Valentino stared claiming he wasn't responsible. His worker has offered to be my witness if I file a small claims action. 4 2 servings

Home owner forgets to state that they hired one of our employee to preform a side job, which was not contracted thru our company, Employee informed them in advance that he would do the work not as an employee of the company when they hired him, which had nothing to do with our business, our company ,then customer attempted to produce documents that were doctor to make it appear that they were produce by our company. To consumers never try to hire workers to preform side jobs to save money, and always have a signed contract with description of what work is to be preformed. Our company has an A+ rating with BBB and a clean record for 30 yrs with both dept of consumers affairs Suffolk and Nassau.
