 + -1 moreI have nothing but the highest praise for the Pitti Brothers. Joe, one of the owners, arrived at our home exactly on time. He showed us examples of his work and had very helpful suggestions regarding what stone color would look best and which paving pattern would work best for our home. He requested a $50 deposit and told us he would get back to us in a few days to set up an appointment. Within a few days, just as promised, Joe contacted us and set up a time to do the job. His brother Dan arrived early on the 18th with a crew of 4. They immediately went to work and by 3:00 pm the job was done. My husband and I were blown away by the quality of the work performed. The end result was 100 times nicer than we had imagined. The design was perfect, the color of the stones was perfect, and the finished product looks amazing and truly enhances our home. The old handrails had been removed but were left on our lawn in the event that they could be refurbished and re-used but Dan told us that if we could not use them they would come back and take them away. After we spoke with a railing company regarding a new railing and were told that the old rails could not be re-used, the Pitto Brothers came back to our house and removed the old handrails the next day. The company is first class and the service performed was first class and the end result was miore than first class. I highly recommend the Pitti Brothers to everyone on Angie's List.

 + -1 moreThey called to see if they could come a few days ealier than scheduled due to forecasted ran in the coming week. This was no problem and they did the job on a Saturday morning. They showed up early and went right to work. The protected the surrounding shrubs and lawn with scrap pieces of wood taking care to protect my mom's azalea bushes. They worked straight through from 7:30am and were done by 2pm. They also cleaned up all debris and left no trace that they were there other than a new patio.
Description of Work: Had an old, 4inch thick reinforced patio removed and a new one poured to replace it.

 + -1 moreAt the time we signed the agreement, Mr. Pitti established a time frame by which the job would be started and completed. They came exactly when promised. The job took parts of two days. On the first day, the Pitti Brothers team broke up all the existing concrete sidewalks, removing the debris. They then set up all the forms and prepared the site for laying the new cement. The following day, they came around 7:30am and began poring the new concrete. They were finished before noon. They cleaned up the area before leaving. In all, I was truely amazed with how effectively they spent their time on site and how quickly they completed the pouring on the second day.
Description of Work: The Pitti Brothers Masons replaced the entire front sidewalk, replaced the walk from my driveway to my front door, and finally replaced the the driveway apron and curb. The concrete was 4" thick and wire mesh reinforced. The curb was 18" think. All debris was removed.

 + 0 moreWe looked on Angie's list for contractors in our neighborhood and had two others submit estimates. One offered approximately the same price, the other was somewhat higher, though I've seen that contractor's work and it was excellent. Three things sold us on Daniel and Joseph Pitti. First, unlike the other two, Joe submitted a detailed, professional proposal as their estimate. It listed everything they would do for the price. That impressed us. Then, he followed up with a note thanking us for allowing them to submit a bid and made a brief call-back -- without any pressure. That's to be expected from a person who had been interviewed for a job but I've never heard of that from a contractor. That impressed us even more. As their price was competitive, we were sold. Dan and his crew took two days to do the demo and cement work; we had to wait for two weeks to allow the driveway to settle and compact before it was paved -- standard. They did not just do what they promised, they did more. As it was post Hurricane Irene time, we could not get anyone to remove a number of large shrubs and their roots, so we had to do that difficult job ourselves because we told the Pitti brothers that we'd handle that. While we uprooted most, one proved impossible, though it had to be removed for the concrete work. In a pouring rain and working very hard for the better part of an hour or two Dan's crew managed to remove the root while getting their work done. Because of the miserable weather they also were very careful not to bring mud into the house. Every fellow on the crew was a gentleman. They did a fine, clean job. They were a pleasure.
Description of Work: Pitti Brothers ripped out an old asphalt driveway and replaced it with a new one, edged in brick, and put in a short concrete walkway to the back steps from the driveway. They removed the concrete patio in front of the house along with the step up to the front door and replaced them with a lovely new patio in concrete and brick. They also replaced the concrete walkway from the sidewalk up to the front of the house.

His price was absolutely competetive with other estimates, but he offerred finish details and suggestions beyond what we had heard before. We decided to schedul the work with them. they said it would be scheduled and finished within 2 weeks. within a week they called to schedule the job, came exactly on time and finished in one day as promised. The workers were consumate professionals. A Pitti brother stayed on the job the entire day to supervise . The reults are just beautiful. One point that was really impressive was that when we booked the work they asked for no deposit. Payment for the work was due upon completion to our satisfaction. Add to that a flawless Angie's List rating and 32 years of experience in the business and you get more than just work, you get artistry, knowledge and old time craftsmanship that is priceless. My wife and I keep opening our front door just to admire our new entryway. We have other masonry jobs around our home and expect to use them for those jobs as well. Exceeded all our expectations. Highest recommendation!!

 + 1 morethis is my second time using Pitti bros. this job was big and we got at least 3 other estimates. this company was always on time, clean, very professional. they did the little extra things to make the job look complete. we were told a price and that is how much we paid. they even finished a day early. I also need some grass taken up for garden beds i asked them and they did it no problem for a small fee. my husband and i have been thru many remodeling projects and this was one of the easiest. they were a pleasure to do business with. If you need Masonry work done this is the company you should call.

 + 0 moreJoe Pitti and company were one of 4 companies to give me an estimate on replacing my old asphalt driveway with pavers. Their quoted price was music to my ears, after getting estimates from other companies (one as high as 3 X the Pitti's price!) The Pitti company removed my existing asphalt driveway and replaced it with Nicolok pavers. They offered some very good ideas on finishing touches, such as borders and patterns. They also designed and built a walkway to my back yard using the same pavers. The workers were punctual and reliable- came every day and finished the job in less than a week. Joe's brother and partner was here with them every day. When I asked Joe to come back a couple of weeks later to make a few finishing touches, he came in a day or two and did as I asked. The job came out beautifully. I am so pleased- I look at it every day and love the was it looks and enhances my house. I would recommend them to anyone thinking about doing a driveway, be it asphalt, concrete, or pavers, or for any hardscaping job. They are absolute pros! NS

 + -1 moreFor the most part, it went fairly well from beginning to end. Responsive to first call for estimate. Estimate was in line with other estimates I had received [maybe a tad less]. All work to be performed was discussed and fully itemized of proposal sheet in a professional manor. Others just hand wrote an amount on a business card. Joe Pitti was punctual except at the end where there was some miscommunication. However he apologized and did a follow up phone call to see if I was satisfied with the work. Which I was. He also stated he guarantees his work for 2 years [NOT in writing]. Overall very satisfied.

 + 0 moreI obtained the name from Angie's list. Joe Pitti called back promptly and worked out a time to meet me at the house before I left for work. He assessed the situation, figured out the problem and probable solution, gave me a written estimate and asked me for a $50 deposit. after we made a deal. He wasn't condescending or slick. My impression was that he was very professional and knowledgeable He told me that the work would be done sometime in the next two weeks and 10 days later called to schedule it.. His brother Dan came with workers to do the work and reviewed the plan with me and discussed the height of the bottom step. . I had to leave for work. and they started and finished the job while I was at work that day and left it covered in plastic as it had started to rain. They returned promptly the next day to clear away the plastic - the work and the whole area nearby is clean as a whistle. It looks great and makes me happy.; it feels very worth the money. Thank you.
Description of Work: We had a spiral 6-step brick stairway leading up from the driveway to the front entrance of the house. Our house is on a hill and the stairway is built into the hill. .This stairway has always been difficult and everyone over 40 has trouble going up and down, not because it's too steep but because it isn't built well. I wanted to see if there was someway to fix this problem out of safety concerns.. Joe Pitti and his brother Dan Pitti figured it out : Joe explained to me why it was so difficult to use the stairs. The stairs narrowed on the right, of the spiral on the side where there is a wrought iron railing, and the stairs broadened out to the left where there is no railing. So you couldn't fit your feet into the narrow spaces to take advantage of the railing for balance. . Anyway he proposed t o take out the steps and replace them with new brick steps but r eplace them by building one less step and each of the new steps would be deeper and standard height. And each new step would therefore be wider at the wrought iron railing. So they came, broke down the old brick steps and carted them away and replaced them with new brick steps still in a spiral. . I think their bricklaying and the grout work was really wonderful. Even though the stairway occupies the same amount of space as it did before, it looks wider, much more open, clean and sturdy.. And it's pretty. You would not think twice about climbing it.. Because they thought that the bottom step might be more than standard height when they were done they proposed building up the gravel and ground under it (we have a gravel driveway) They did this too but it's unnoticeable, as it should be.

 + 2 moreOur experience with this company was completely positive. From the initial estimate to the final day of work, these people were professional. What we especially liked about the estimate was that Joe Pitti explained the reasons for his way of doing things. Too often the other contractors would say they would do whatever we wanted. We needed to know if what we thought we wanted was the correct way. The work took about 5 days. Dan Pitti and his crew were punctual, polite and efficient. We are very satisfied with our new patio and porch with walkway. The driveway should be completed in two weeks and we expect another excellent job.
Description of Work: Our old backyard patio was taken up and replaced with pavers. Our front porch was demolished and rebuilt with pavers. The front walkway was also taken up and replaced with pavers. The asphalt driveway was ripped up and lined with Belgian block and pavers, also widened. Blacktop to be done in two weeks.

 + -1 moreI contacted the company to set up an appointment. Two days later on Aug 31, 2011 I met the owner, who submitted a detailed proposal for the job. The proposal included detailed specifications, a statement to start work within 2 weeks, and payment upon completion. The price seemed to be reasonable; however, I contacted another contractor whose price was considerably higher. I accepted Pitti's proposal, and the work was completed on Sept 26...approx. 4 weeks after the agreement. The 6 man work force was highly experienced and required minimal supervision. The existing concrete slab (6ft x 8ft) adjacent to my front entrance was over 8 inches thick and required a considerable amount of extra work to remove. The contractor did not request additional payment for this work. The overall quality and cost of the work was excellent, and I highly recommend Pitti Brothers for anyone considering replacing their concrete sidewalk or driveway.
Description of Work: The contractor performed the following services: 1-Removed approx. 470sf of existing concrete sidewalk, including the entrance walkway to the house 2-Set forms, graded for 4 inches of concrete-including using a dry pack to fill in low areas 3-Used a plate vibrator to compact the subgrade 4-Placed approx. 6.5 CY of concrete for the replacement sidewalk 5-Removed the forms 3 days later

 + -1 moreGetting a date for installation took almost a month after the estimate. I waited the time because the mason came highly recommended. The owner said he was very busy. According to my wife, they came with 5 guys and had the step done in about 4 1/2 hours. The steps look very nice and level.

 + 2 moreWhen Joe Pitti gave us the estimate he was professional. The price was fair and we certainly feel that we got what we paid for. He didn't ask for any money upfront and gave us an approximate start date (depending upon the weather). The crew arrived on time every day, worked hard and cleaned up after. As the work progressed, I decided it would look nice if we curved the brick apron instead of keeping it straight and there was no problem incorporating my request. We are very pleased with the job. Neighbors and complete strangers compliment us on how nice it looks.
Description of Work: Front stoop, walkway and driveway were broken up and resurfaced. The stoop and walkway were surfaced in brick and the driveway outlined in brick. The center will be black top. The crushed stone is in and we are waiting the required two weeks before they install black top. The old driveway was lined with belgian blocks. The belgian blocks were removed and reused as a curb. A short cement ramp was installed in the back yard.
