TLDR: All the bad reviews are accurate. The owner of this company is extremely rude and unprofessional and scams people into buying overpriced services that probably were never needed. My 80 year old mother in law called up Green Pro after seeing their ad in the local paper. She requested air duct cleaning and disinfecting, which was advertised as being $287 for unlimited ducts in a single system (which we have). The tech Nery showed up on time and was very pleasant to deal with. My husband showed him where the system was, and when the tech inspected it, he told him to go downstairs right away, that there was mold. Why he couldn't just show him the mold in the system is beyond me, not to mention that if the tech was dealing with something so hazardous, shouldn't he be at least wearing a mask at some point during the cleaning? Surely, being exposed to large amounts of mold on a regular basis is not healthy. The tech called his boss and talked my mother in law into paying for a UV light, which would cost $600. Because she was suffering from severe allergies, she was desperate to do whatever it took to try to calm her sinuses down and agreed to pay for the light installation. Somehow the services still ended up adding up to $1500, originally being told it was $1800, and this was after asking for a senior discount, being told she had to refer a new customer, and that she had to pay this amount in cash that day. She paid, and the tech vacuumed the ducts, cleaned the mold somehow without us ever needing to leave the house or turning off the system, and installed the UV light in under 1.5 hours. It is still questionable if all the air ducts were done because we were trying to stay out of his way while he was working. We were emailed before and after pictures, but there is no way to prove that it was actually our system in them, and I still think it is highly suspicious that the tech simply did not show my husband the mold up front when he was in the attic with him. Our system is only a few years old and was installed by the previous homeowner who worked with HVAC systems for a living. The next day, after really wondering what the other charges were that got tacked on to the bill when by our calculations it should have been $287 for the cleaning and $600 for the light, my mother in law called the company to see if she could get an itemized invoice. The first man she spoke to instantly started to talk over her and became rude and argumentative when she insisted she didn't get a copy of the bill because he told her it was emailed to her. He put her on hold, and a different man (I assume the owner) got on the phone with her. She told him that she wanted to know what the other charges were that added up to $1500 because she was only told about the charges for the cleaning and the light. He instantly became combative and accused her of lying and that our tech told us about them (he did not). He also had no patience for her when she could not find the emailed invoice. Being a senior, she did not realize that the bill was hidden away with the multiple photos that had been sent. When she said she didn't get one, he again called her a liar and became extremely irate and loud, talking over her and arguing that it was already sent. If someone is that defensive over a bill that has already been paid, you know something has to be wrong. She had even told him that she wasn't disputing the charges, that she just wanted to see an itemized bill, and he refused to even consider just emailing it to her again. Because I ended up finding the attachment in her email while hearing all of this go down on speakerphone, she told him that he was being very rude and abusive to an 80 year old senior citizen and that this was no way to treat a customer and that she would be leaving bad reviews for him everywhere that she could. He kept screaming at her on the phone about how great he was and how wrong she was, so she hung up on him. Being the juvenile that he was, he called her back and screamed that he doesn't "deal with f***ing fools" and hung up on her! Of course we realize now that we should have researched the business before we hired Green Pro Cleaning because the bad reviews all detail a similar experience. The invoice looks extremely sketchy upon closer inspection, and it was not sent until after the job was finished. Obviously we will not be using them after this. Proceed with caution with this business because any owner who gets so hot headed over a simple request to see a bill knows that what he is doing is not honest.

An extra work (anti-microbial decontamination and sanitizing) was aggressively proposed. Overall, it went 10 times as expensive as we planned (it was promised $9 per vent and we paid $1000). We couldn't get a satisfactory explanations and had no time to make a research about chemicals that were used. So we just trusted the technician. Looking back, we got an impression that we have been cheated. The documents that we signed by the end, were not shown in full at the moment of signing. A compete version that we have got by email, stated that we highly satisfied with the job. This is not the case! Overall, $1000 for duct cleaning by a vacuum cleaner and spraying with unknown chemical doesn't seem reasonable.

I have no problem with the actual work done here. The issue I have is with the high-pressure sales pitch on items that are then very steeply marked up and, judging by some other reviews here, I am not alone. They sold us a UV unit for the ductwork that started at $700, then when we were declining, they knocked $150 installation off of it. Not knowing about these items, we went for it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have said no. We tried to cancel and get a refund because we had an issue where the money was needed more, but when talking to the owner, Mike, he informed us, in no uncertain terms, that we were beyond the "3 day period" for cancellation in the contract and that he had already ordered it. He was pretty surly to deal with, but he told me that he would consider lowering the price and call me back after the weekend, which, of course, he never did. They installed the UV unit, which Mike told me can run up to $1000. After they were done, I checked the unit online and they were on for $59. Same unit. He marked it up almost 1000%. I guess there were the thousand dollars that he was on about. I texted him twice (I refuse to speak to him again) and have received no response. I'm sure that I'll get one now! A complaint is being filed with the Nassau County Department of Consumer Affairs. Sorry to say, but good work is overshadowed by rip-off business practices and a nasty owner. This was his response on Home Advisor: James, Thank You for stating you were satisfied with the cleaning services you hired us to complete. I also see you rated your experience as "excellent" on the Post Cleaning Checklist on the date of service. As I stated to you, it is difficult for us to cancel/refund an item after it is installed and after it has been used. I cannot re-use or re-install the UV unit into another customers system as I'm sure you wouldn't want a "used" item in your home. The item, once installed, is non-returnable as stated in the work order contract. I understand through your text, that money issues came up after the installation, that is unfortunate, however, our business practices of not recycling used equipment are not meant to be "surly", "nasty" and definitely not meant to be a "rip-off" at all. If you would like to discuss further, please contact the office. Mike Greenpro Cleaning. At the time of our conversation, the unit HAD NOT BEEN INSTALLED. He had ordered it. For him to claim that I requested cancellation and refund is an outright lie. Mike requested that I call him to discuss this further, which I did. He was not in so I left a message with someone that also had a bit of an attitude, who said that he would call me back tomorrow. Well, guess what. No call. I'm done. A complaint has been filed with the NC Department of Consumer Affairs, as well as the Better Business Bureau. Posted on Facebook, too, which means that its going to be in a lot of firehouses, police station houses, the racing and classic car community as well. And Mike, save your breath on a reply. You had a chance to work this out and you decided that being nasty and surly was the better way to go. Your mistake.

Technician spent about three hours with a large heavy-duty vacuum cleaner and long flexible hose. He removed each duct  cover and cleaned it. The duct entrance had a black powdery coating which he said was mold. I took his word for it but had no way to verify it and neither did he. Mold testing is a specialty by itself and requires special analysis equipment.

He wore a filtering mask during the process but mold spores likely spread all over and he did not offer my wife and I any masks or tell us to  leave the premises. Other than this he seemed to do all the right things. The biggest problem is that the advertising is deceptive in offering an inexpensive "fix" that is almost never complete without many additional tasks so the actual price will be five to ten times that indicated by the ad. Of course the additional services can be omitted but then what is done is merely superficial and a waste of money.

When I hire a dryer cleaner he provides me with the pressure before and after. This was not provided today so I had no idea how effective this was..

He was courteous and left the house clean except for possible mold spores in the air.

They informed me that they only clean the first 15 ft. I asked them to clean all of it. They told me to find a different company that would do the whole job. Also, they told me they do not use the brush any more, they only vacuum. So I will be finding someone else. I am extremely unsatisfied with the lack of thoroughness and communication.

The two gentlemen arrived on time and were very nice and kind enough to remove their shoes before going upstairs on the white carpet. We have definitely noticed a difference in the amount of dust in the house already.  My only complaint would be the up-selling (additional sanitizing and anti-decontamination of interior main ducts). I noticed another review on Angie's List where someone complained of the up-sell and I had not seen that review prior to getting the work done.  I feel the company should be more upfront with what they will try to sell before they do the work. Another example of the up-sell was the electrostatic air filters. They offered them at $129 a piece on the spot, but if they left and had to come back they were $199!  I said not thanks and then I was told that if I called back within 2 months, they could offer them to me for $99...huh?  The pricing was all over the map.  Overall, we are happy with the results but will probably try someone else next time.

The worker was the owner's son.  He arrived close enough to the confirmed appointment, and began the work quickly thereafter.  However, upon completion of the job and inspection of the vents in the basement he was a problem because he cleaned the cold return vents, not the hearing vents.  When I quested this error, he responded aggressively demanding his money.  I called the owner to explain I was withholding payment until the work was done correctly, and he too started screaming and acting like an out of control animal.  Totally Unprofessional!!!  I paid them just to get him off my property.  He tactics worked in his favor, because he scared me into paying for ruining my vents which actually caused molding as a result.  Perhaps him and his father are both scam artists and did it wrong purposely to create another need and paying job.  Either way, best to consider hiring another provider, and ensure a male is present in the home while the work is being performed.

The provider suggested that he would clean the air ducts without removing the vent covers, and advised that it wouldn't make a difference. My mistake. Further, they forgot to relight the pilot light and when I called to advise them that gas was leaking into my home, they called me a liar. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

You have not contacted us since your original date of service. I'm not sure of your agenda or motivation behind this post, 3 years after we provided a cleaning for you. I contacted Green Pro for a duct cleaning for the new house I moved into. Upon inspecting my ducts, they used a single use mold test which tested positive for mold, although they could not tell me if the spores were active or what type of mold it was. They told me how my health was in danger and I needed to have it removed with a chemical they spray into the ducts and condenser. I agreed. Once they started cleaning, dirt and debris fell out of every duct. It landed in my food, on my light colored couch and all over the floors. They told me they had to take my vent covers with them to paint them with a latex paint so mold wouldn't form on them and I'd have them back in a week. I was stuck a week with holes in my ceilings during this time. They did not take the one from my vaulted ceiling because they said they had no way to reach it. When they left, I noticed a lot of dirt still on the counters and floors under the ducts. When I called them, I got nothing but an attitude.

In times when people are stressed out by floods or storms it is really gratifying to know that some one can do the job and not contribute more to the stress that a homeowner is already under.

I then paid him $300.00 ( a discount from what he said should have been $450.00 because my mother was elderly). Much to my embarassment I agreed paid, initialled, signed and filled out a form recommending their services. They were at my mother's home for exactly 15 minutes. I fell for what I believe was a con, since more than 2 other professionals contacted told me they absolutely could have done the job I originally called them for. Immediately after they left the house I tried to phone Mike, the company owner and at all three numbers the mailboxes were full and I could not leave a message. At this point I really was sure my sick and elderly mother, and to my embarassment, myself, were taken advantage of by practiced, smooth talking operators. My husband also tried to calll them on Monday and could not reach them for the same reason with the full mailboxes. Only then did my mother stop the check and my husband emailed them. Only after he discovered  the check had been stopped did he phone my husband and asked for cash, money order or bank check, which I could understand if he felt he deserved to be paid for a job well and fairly done.  I decided to phone him just to tell him how I felt.  When I called I amazingly got right through and when I identified myself he instantly began bullying me, interrupting and threatening to take me to court where I would not only owe him, but owe his legal fees. I told him to come collect his cash at my house on Monday.  This is a deceiptful, nastly threatening man who if his was the last duct cleaning company on earth, I would never use or recommend to anyone.
Response from Greenpro Cleaning & Restoration
"Member, as we discussed at length, your mother asked the technicians not to remove the vent covers because of the potential for paint chipping due to the age of the home. Additionally, I have on file the post-cleaning customer checklist that you completed and you stated that the technicians were "on time, honest, great personality & excellent job." Which is why I am so very confused about this review. Your check was returned to us by your bank and we have since picked up payment from you for the services that were completed. Thank you."

I saw mold on the baseboard of a wall,  behind which is a shower.  I called a few companies and this one responded first.  The person to whom I spoke initially on the phone was very understanding about my concern and was very reassuring.  Someone was able to come to my house the next day. They evaluated the situation, gave me an estimate and a start date.
The young man showed up right on time and explained again what would be done.    Once  the wall was down, he showed me the damage and carted away all the nasty stuff that he removed.  I had a contractor come while  Green Pro was here , and they discussed the situation.  I would highly recommend this company because of the great job they did, and also because everyone was very nice to deal with.
