TLDR: All the bad reviews are accurate. The owner of this company is extremely rude and unprofessional and scams people into buying overpriced services that probably were never needed. My 80 year old mother in law called up Green Pro after seeing their ad in the local paper. She requested air duct cleaning and disinfecting, which was advertised as being $287 for unlimited ducts in a single system (which we have). The tech Nery showed up on time and was very pleasant to deal with. My husband showed him where the system was, and when the tech inspected it, he told him to go downstairs right away, that there was mold. Why he couldn't just show him the mold in the system is beyond me, not to mention that if the tech was dealing with something so hazardous, shouldn't he be at least wearing a mask at some point during the cleaning? Surely, being exposed to large amounts of mold on a regular basis is not healthy. The tech called his boss and talked my mother in law into paying for a UV light, which would cost $600. Because she was suffering from severe allergies, she was desperate to do whatever it took to try to calm her sinuses down and agreed to pay for the light installation. Somehow the services still ended up adding up to $1500, originally being told it was $1800, and this was after asking for a senior discount, being told she had to refer a new customer, and that she had to pay this amount in cash that day. She paid, and the tech vacuumed the ducts, cleaned the mold somehow without us ever needing to leave the house or turning off the system, and installed the UV light in under 1.5 hours. It is still questionable if all the air ducts were done because we were trying to stay out of his way while he was working. We were emailed before and after pictures, but there is no way to prove that it was actually our system in them, and I still think it is highly suspicious that the tech simply did not show my husband the mold up front when he was in the attic with him. Our system is only a few years old and was installed by the previous homeowner who worked with HVAC systems for a living. The next day, after really wondering what the other charges were that got tacked on to the bill when by our calculations it should have been $287 for the cleaning and $600 for the light, my mother in law called the company to see if she could get an itemized invoice. The first man she spoke to instantly started to talk over her and became rude and argumentative when she insisted she didn't get a copy of the bill because he told her it was emailed to her. He put her on hold, and a different man (I assume the owner) got on the phone with her. She told him that she wanted to know what the other charges were that added up to $1500 because she was only told about the charges for the cleaning and the light. He instantly became combative and accused her of lying and that our tech told us about them (he did not). He also had no patience for her when she could not find the emailed invoice. Being a senior, she did not realize that the bill was hidden away with the multiple photos that had been sent. When she said she didn't get one, he again called her a liar and became extremely irate and loud, talking over her and arguing that it was already sent. If someone is that defensive over a bill that has already been paid, you know something has to be wrong. She had even told him that she wasn't disputing the charges, that she just wanted to see an itemized bill, and he refused to even consider just emailing it to her again. Because I ended up finding the attachment in her email while hearing all of this go down on speakerphone, she told him that he was being very rude and abusive to an 80 year old senior citizen and that this was no way to treat a customer and that she would be leaving bad reviews for him everywhere that she could. He kept screaming at her on the phone about how great he was and how wrong she was, so she hung up on him. Being the juvenile that he was, he called her back and screamed that he doesn't "deal with f***ing fools" and hung up on her! Of course we realize now that we should have researched the business before we hired Green Pro Cleaning because the bad reviews all detail a similar experience. The invoice looks extremely sketchy upon closer inspection, and it was not sent until after the job was finished. Obviously we will not be using them after this. Proceed with caution with this business because any owner who gets so hot headed over a simple request to see a bill knows that what he is doing is not honest.

An extra work (anti-microbial decontamination and sanitizing) was aggressively proposed. Overall, it went 10 times as expensive as we planned (it was promised $9 per vent and we paid $1000). We couldn't get a satisfactory explanations and had no time to make a research about chemicals that were used. So we just trusted the technician. Looking back, we got an impression that we have been cheated. The documents that we signed by the end, were not shown in full at the moment of signing. A compete version that we have got by email, stated that we highly satisfied with the job. This is not the case! Overall, $1000 for duct cleaning by a vacuum cleaner and spraying with unknown chemical doesn't seem reasonable.

I have no problem with the actual work done here. The issue I have is with the high-pressure sales pitch on items that are then very steeply marked up and, judging by some other reviews here, I am not alone. They sold us a UV unit for the ductwork that started at $700, then when we were declining, they knocked $150 installation off of it. Not knowing about these items, we went for it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have said no. We tried to cancel and get a refund because we had an issue where the money was needed more, but when talking to the owner, Mike, he informed us, in no uncertain terms, that we were beyond the "3 day period" for cancellation in the contract and that he had already ordered it. He was pretty surly to deal with, but he told me that he would consider lowering the price and call me back after the weekend, which, of course, he never did. They installed the UV unit, which Mike told me can run up to $1000. After they were done, I checked the unit online and they were on for $59. Same unit. He marked it up almost 1000%. I guess there were the thousand dollars that he was on about. I texted him twice (I refuse to speak to him again) and have received no response. I'm sure that I'll get one now! A complaint is being filed with the Nassau County Department of Consumer Affairs. Sorry to say, but good work is overshadowed by rip-off business practices and a nasty owner. This was his response on Home Advisor: James, Thank You for stating you were satisfied with the cleaning services you hired us to complete. I also see you rated your experience as "excellent" on the Post Cleaning Checklist on the date of service. As I stated to you, it is difficult for us to cancel/refund an item after it is installed and after it has been used. I cannot re-use or re-install the UV unit into another customers system as I'm sure you wouldn't want a "used" item in your home. The item, once installed, is non-returnable as stated in the work order contract. I understand through your text, that money issues came up after the installation, that is unfortunate, however, our business practices of not recycling used equipment are not meant to be "surly", "nasty" and definitely not meant to be a "rip-off" at all. If you would like to discuss further, please contact the office. Mike Greenpro Cleaning. At the time of our conversation, the unit HAD NOT BEEN INSTALLED. He had ordered it. For him to claim that I requested cancellation and refund is an outright lie. Mike requested that I call him to discuss this further, which I did. He was not in so I left a message with someone that also had a bit of an attitude, who said that he would call me back tomorrow. Well, guess what. No call. I'm done. A complaint has been filed with the NC Department of Consumer Affairs, as well as the Better Business Bureau. Posted on Facebook, too, which means that its going to be in a lot of firehouses, police station houses, the racing and classic car community as well. And Mike, save your breath on a reply. You had a chance to work this out and you decided that being nasty and surly was the better way to go. Your mistake.

Had to cancel an appointment the morning of for a family emergency we had to travel out of town for. After being chastised for 5 minutes on the phone by Mike, who is apparently the manager, I confirmed that we would not be rescheduling, and was called a "f$&cking piece of" you know what as he hung up. This is UNACCEPTABLE behavior from a client serving professional. I implore you, take your business elsewhere.

Cleaned the vents and overall did was they were supposed to do and nothing more
Description of Work: Had called them to clean my AC vents and after the service was shown pictures of mold in the vents as well as the main unit. Was told it must be done and the overall quote for uv lights and some green mold spray was 2200.00 after reading these reviews I immediately stopped the work had them only clean the ducts as originally planned and on their way they went. It's amazing how honesty is no longer the best policy. Glad I read these reviews on Angie's list before I got scammed for 2200.00 worth of work

We had Greenpro in our home to clean Ac vents and main trunk lines , The service tech was very pleasant and seemed like a very honest gentlemen . That is were it ends ....he cleaned the vents , said he cleaned the main trunk lines , in looking at one of our 3 units he found mold. The tech in his very personable way - went into sales mode ( I am told the techs at GreenPro work off compensation ) Wrote up an estimate for aprox $3000 ! and all this could be done in about 1 hour ! I took the estimate and said we will get back to\GreenPro But something just did not feel right. We started to do research on GreenPro and what they told us what needed to be done. As you all see GreenPro has terrible reviews and this another one. We had a highly recommended company come in and take a look . Well the main trunk line were never cleaned not even opened ! Yes we have mold in one of the units and all will be taken care of professionally (My husband left GreenPro a message to call us back - to schedule the remaining services ( just to get a call back vs letting him know we had concerns. The conversation w/ the owner turned immediate ugly when ask for a refund on the services not done. He did offer to come back and clean what was not done - why would we want them to come back Very unprofessional and cursed my husband out Its terrible that companies conduct them selves like this Newsday should not run ads for such companies Stay away from GreenPro

Technician spent about three hours with a large heavy-duty vacuum cleaner and long flexible hose. He removed each duct cover and cleaned it. The duct entrance had a black powdery coating which he said was mold. I took his word for it but had no way to verify it and neither did he. Mold testing is a specialty by itself and requires special analysis equipment. He wore a filtering mask during the process but mold spores likely spread all over and he did not offer my wife and I any masks or tell us to leave the premises. Other than this he seemed to do all the right things. The biggest problem is that the advertising is deceptive in offering an inexpensive "fix" that is almost never complete without many additional tasks so the actual price will be five to ten times that indicated by the ad. Of course the additional services can be omitted but then what is done is merely superficial and a waste of money. When I hire a dryer cleaner he provides me with the pressure before and after. This was not provided today so I had no idea how effective this was.. He was courteous and left the house clean except for possible mold spores in the air.
Description of Work: Cleaned 9 A/C ducts and trunks, register grill, sanitized ducts and applied fungestat and mildewstat, cleaned blower motor, and will add ultraviolet-light near HEPA filter to decontaminate air flow. In addition, cleaned clothes dryer exhaust with the vacuum.

They informed me that they only clean the first 15 ft. I asked them to clean all of it. They told me to find a different company that would do the whole job. Also, they told me they do not use the brush any more, they only vacuum. So I will be finding someone else. I am extremely unsatisfied with the lack of thoroughness and communication.

I called the same morning, 7am, to cancel a 8-10am appointment. My daughter sick and was unable to keep the appointment. Mike- I am guessing, because he did not want to give his name, actually made you feel bad and gave a hard time. Asking me if a neighbor can open the door because "he scheduled his whole day around my service". Ok- get real. A service call takes an hour. Not the whole day. So I reschedule for the same day the following week. As I hung up I was so annoyed that he actually did that. It was a simple cancellation and it was almost like a drill why, when, and how. Crazy- right. So I felt uncomfortable, as a mom of two, to even have a man like this in my home . So, I called him back to cancel the following appointment and nicely told him why- that I felt uncomfortable after the third degree. He replied - ready for this- "that he didn't need my business and I can be someone else's problem". If you want a simple service- hassle free- Keep looking.

Here is another scam of being pressured into putting down $1000 deposit so I can "get on the calendar". Since Green Pro was the first merchant I spoke with I didn't realize their estimate was at least two (2) times more expensive than any other contractor. They presented themselves as reputable and told me how they had done so much work with Sandy victims but now I realize that his customers are the real victims of Green Pro. It started on Saturday, March 1st, 2014. A representative by the name of Andreas came to inspect my attic in order to provide an estimate for insulation. They quoted the work to require removal of old insulation ($1200), spraying anti-microbial treatment ($950) and installation of 1160 square feet R-19 batted insulation ($3200) for a total of $5,350. After negotiating the price by removing spray treatment I was able to get their price down to $4200 or pay $3700 cash as part of a manager's special. Andreas also said that I am eligible for 3-day corporate return policy on my deposit with no questions asked. On Sunday I spoke to a friend who works in construction that informed me the price was simply too high. Come Monday I obtained additional estimates for the same work but that included R-30 batted insulation by two (2) other companies who both quoted the job at $1400. I then called and left a message with Green Pro stating I wanted a refund. I never received a call back and tried again on Tuesday where I spoke to Mike the owner. He turned out to be a snake with a forked tongue telling me that I would always be eligible to get my money back even after the 3 days. He continued to insist that I should shop around and that he would match any competitor's price. Mike told me that he wanted Andreas to come back out to the house so he could negotiate a better price in person which I was willing to entertain. They re-quoted the job to include R-30 this time for $4000 without spray and $4800 with spray. I said at that time that I wanted my money back. It was a week later that I spoke with Mike and informed him that my deposit was still not returned back to my credit card. He continued to argue how he was providing the best price for the job and that other vendors were not offering the same level of quality he was offering. I told Mike I was going with spray insulation in my attic and I just wanted my money back. Another week goes by and again I spoke to Mike who told me that he only does refunds on Friday and that in order for him to return my money I had to provide estimates from other competitors. It was at that time I knew he was never going to return my money. I filed a claim with my credit card company. My credit card company found their decision in my favor but after Mike rebutted the decision I'm back to litigating this probably all the way to small claims court. In sum, Mike was just telling me what I wanted to hear so that he could buy some time. I've recently contacted Mike again and he now says that my request for refund was not timely and he never stated he would return my deposit. He plays all the psychological games that would trick you into believing how he wants to work with you but in reality he is just a scam artist.
Description of Work: Rep provides an estimate 2x's more expensive than any other contractor. Mike, owner, verbally stated I would receive a refund based on the fact that I requested a refund within three (3) days but after two (2) weeks of him making false claims and I having filed a dispute with my credit card company then says that my statements were "filled with fabrications and embellishments". This guy is a lier and a crook!

[member name removed], By law, you had three (3) business days to cancel the contract for service. You did not do that. You canceled the contracted work the day before the contracted starting date. GreenPro Cleaning was ready, willing and able to perform the services for you in a professional, workmanlike manner, per industry standards and guidelines. Your descriptions and comments about myself and GreenPro Cleaning are unfair. The contract is in place to protect you, as the homeowner. The contract is also in place to protect the company. We have provide exemplary service to over 30,000 homeowners on Long Island over the last 7 years. We've helped hundreds of families devastated from Hurricane Irene and Super Storm Sandy. We are an Accredited Better Business Bureau, A-Rated company and one of a small few of restoration companies on Long Island that provide "Green" Certified Cleaning Solutions. I have responded in a professional manner to your internet wide smear campaign from the BBB, Consumer Affairs, etc... Now we are here on Angie's List. I have responded to the charge back claim from your credit card company and when presented with the facts, not embellishments and fabrications, they found that you indeed breached the contract and found in GreenPro's favor. I apologize that your experience with GreenPro transpired the way it did, but I know you would have had a great experience with our installers and we would have exceeded all of your expectations. I do not speak with a forked tongue as you say but I am also not in the business of handing out money to anyone making a false claim, like you have.

The two gentlemen arrived on time and were very nice and kind enough to remove their shoes before going upstairs on the white carpet. We have definitely noticed a difference in the amount of dust in the house already. My only complaint would be the up-selling (additional sanitizing and anti-decontamination of interior main ducts). I noticed another review on Angie's List where someone complained of the up-sell and I had not seen that review prior to getting the work done. I feel the company should be more upfront with what they will try to sell before they do the work. Another example of the up-sell was the electrostatic air filters. They offered them at $129 a piece on the spot, but if they left and had to come back they were $199! I said not thanks and then I was told that if I called back within 2 months, they could offer them to me for $99...huh? The pricing was all over the map. Overall, we are happy with the results but will probably try someone else next time.

The worker was the owner's son. He arrived close enough to the confirmed appointment, and began the work quickly thereafter. However, upon completion of the job and inspection of the vents in the basement he was a problem because he cleaned the cold return vents, not the hearing vents. When I quested this error, he responded aggressively demanding his money. I called the owner to explain I was withholding payment until the work was done correctly, and he too started screaming and acting like an out of control animal. Totally Unprofessional!!! I paid them just to get him off my property. He tactics worked in his favor, because he scared me into paying for ruining my vents which actually caused molding as a result. Perhaps him and his father are both scam artists and did it wrong purposely to create another need and paying job. Either way, best to consider hiring another provider, and ensure a male is present in the home while the work is being performed.

I contacted Green Pro for a duct cleaning for the new house I moved into. Upon inspecting my ducts, they used a single use mold test which tested positive for mold, although they could not tell me if the spores were active or what type of mold it was. They told me how my health was in danger and I needed to have it removed with a chemical they spray into the ducts and condenser. I agreed. Once they started cleaning, dirt and debris fell out of every duct. It landed in my food, on my light colored couch and all over the floors. They told me they had to take my vent covers with them to paint them with a latex paint so mold wouldn't form on them and I'd have them back in a week. I was stuck a week with holes in my ceilings during this time. They did not take the one from my vaulted ceiling because they said they had no way to reach it. When they left, I noticed a lot of dirt still on the counters and floors under the ducts. When I called them, I got nothing but an attitude.

In October of 2012 I had a flood in my home. I called the Green Pro Cleaning & Restoration Co. of Deer Park, New York after seeing their ad in a local newspaper. Their representative came to my home without any of the equipment companies such as his usually employ: special cameras & meters which show exactly whether walls are dry or wet, and instead just used his eyes. During a 20 minute tour of my house, nearly every wall he saw (to him) needed to be torn out; every bit of dust and dirt on those walls was mold expanding & taking over my home. A contract for $18,000 (later reduced to $14,000) was written up by him for the work that needed to be done. When I showed hesitation in signing he employed scare tactics, stating, "You'll never be able to sell your house. They're going to condemn it!" They worked. I signed the contract, giving him a $4,200 deposit. Still feeling unsure about what I'd done, a few days later I called the company again to see if their salesman could return to my home so we could go over the job step-by-step, wall-by-wall, so I'd know exactly what to expect. Unfortunately, some research I'd done on Green Pro yielded some very troubling information (unsatisfactory results & workmanship,) so when he came back a second time I informed him I was regrettably cancelling our contract, and that I needed to get some other opinions on my home's problem. (This was 2 business days after initial signing.) I signed the "Notice of Cancellation" form on the back of my copy of the contract, dated it, and handed it to the man, who acknowledged receiving it. Although he stated I'd get my deposit back in approximately three weeks, it is now almost six months later and I am still waiting. (No work by this company was ever done on my home.)
Description of Work: I signed a contract for them to take care of the water damage, but later cancelled it.

The member and GreenPro Cleaning entered into a contract for service. GreenPro Cleaning was ready, willing and able to preform the contractual obligations entering into with the member. The member breached the terms and conditions of the contract by canceling, without notice, shortly before the scheduled starting date. Per the terms and conditions of the contract, no refund, partial or full is due. Please consider this case closed.

In times when people are stressed out by floods or storms it is really gratifying to know that some one can do the job and not contribute more to the stress that a homeowner is already under.
Description of Work: I had a flood and they came out and did clean up.

Description of Work: Nothing was done. I got the company's name from angie's list representative along with others. The representative that came was late and when he got here he wasn't giving me his full attention that I expect. He wasn't listening to my concerns just when I told him what I wanted as far as insulation just and feel I did not receive his undivided attention. It seemed to me he was just concerned about getting in and out. Mentioned when I continued to talk that he was sorry but had to do that he was blocking a driveway. I hate that . I cannot control the parking spaces. Find one that you do not have to worry about. I the consumer should not have his attention taken away from me and my concerns because of that reason. In addtion, I pointed out an area in my basement washroom that I was concerned was mold or mildew. He glance at it and said no it was not mold. Did not thoroughlly look over area and did not test areas. I let him know immediately I was concerned and had a coupon for free estimate and free testing. Nothing was done. Just concerned about potential money job the insulation.

I then paid him $300.00 ( a discount from what he said should have been $450.00 because my mother was elderly). Much to my embarassment I agreed paid, initialled, signed and filled out a form recommending their services. They were at my mother's home for exactly 15 minutes. I fell for what I believe was a con, since more than 2 other professionals contacted told me they absolutely could have done the job I originally called them for. Immediately after they left the house I tried to phone Mike, the company owner and at all three numbers the mailboxes were full and I could not leave a message. At this point I really was sure my sick and elderly mother, and to my embarassment, myself, were taken advantage of by practiced, smooth talking operators. My husband also tried to calll them on Monday and could not reach them for the same reason with the full mailboxes. Only then did my mother stop the check and my husband emailed them. Only after he discovered the check had been stopped did he phone my husband and asked for cash, money order or bank check, which I could understand if he felt he deserved to be paid for a job well and fairly done. I decided to phone him just to tell him how I felt. When I called I amazingly got right through and when I identified myself he instantly began bullying me, interrupting and threatening to take me to court where I would not only owe him, but owe his legal fees. I told him to come collect his cash at my house on Monday. This is a deceiptful, nastly threatening man who if his was the last duct cleaning company on earth, I would never use or recommend to anyone.
Description of Work: My mother contacted the company through an ad in one of the local newspapers. We called for duct cleaning. The gentlemen came on time. Told us that since the system was so old they couldn't take the vents off and vacuum because they wouldn't be able to put the vents back on properlyilter. They said they would just remove the main filter and spray something to kill the mold which was guaranteed for twenty years.

Member, as we discussed at length, your mother asked the technicians not to remove the vent covers because of the potential for paint chipping due to the age of the home. Additionally, I have on file the post-cleaning customer checklist that you completed and you stated that the technicians were "on time, honest, great personality & excellent job." Which is why I am so very confused about this review. Your check was returned to us by your bank and we have since picked up payment from you for the services that were completed. Thank you.

I saw mold on the baseboard of a wall, behind which is a shower. I called a few companies and this one responded first. The person to whom I spoke initially on the phone was very understanding about my concern and was very reassuring. Someone was able to come to my house the next day. They evaluated the situation, gave me an estimate and a start date. The young man showed up right on time and explained again what would be done. Once the wall was down, he showed me the damage and carted away all the nasty stuff that he removed. I had a contractor come while Green Pro was here , and they discussed the situation. I would highly recommend this company because of the great job they did, and also because everyone was very nice to deal with.
Description of Work: They removed a section of the wall including the moulding, chair rail and sheetrock. They wire brushed all affected beams; treated the beams with an anti- microbial; fogged out the adjacent living area with a non toxic anti- microbial. They were very conscientious, used safety precautions ( the young man gave me a mask to wear when showing me what he had discovered) and very neat.

I did not get the work done yet, but plan on it! The gentleman who came to our house for the estimate was friendly and knowledgeable. Someone even called to follow up! I was very impressed with the professionalism and intend on having work done in the near future.
