The technician from Schodack Septic arrived on time (before I even got there) and was waiting until I gave the go ahead to begin the pumping and inspection. The homeowner showed us where the access was for the pumping and the technician got to work. He was quiet and did not speak much. At one point I walked over and asked him if everything looked ok and he nodded and said yes. After he was done, he brought me the bill. I asked if the inspection was good and he nodded and said yes (that was it - no further detail). I thought that was odd, but I gave him a check for $459 and called it a day. I was a bit frustrated because the technician had not advised I move my car, which was parked directly in the line of the off-gassing as he was pumping. So my car interior smelled like a septic tank for weeks - lovely! Over the first two winters in the home, we noticed that when it would get very cold, our first floor half bath would take on an odor coming from the septic. It would be quite powerful at times. We had the toilet looked at and re-sealed and the odor decreased but did not go away until the Spring. I had figured that it was just because their was an access point to the septic so close to the surface of the ground and maybe the top layer of the tank was freezing or something. Fast forward to October 2014. I hired Averill Park Septic to come and pump the tank (I heard you should do it at least every three years, so I went with 2 to be safe). The gentleman took one look at the access point used previously and said we were pumping the "wrong side" of the tank (the liquid side), and that there was another access point for solid waste. He helped my husband dig out the second access (which we had no idea was there) and lo and behold, the solids looked like they had never been pumped since the home was built! The Averill Park Septic technician was surprised we hadn't had any backups yet, it was so full. So in summary, the "inspection" done by Schodack Septic was ridiculous because I would think if their technician had fully inspected the tank, wouldn't he have known that there were two sides of the tank separated by the baffle? Wouldn't they have advised that we dig up the tank to have a look at it? And wouldn't he have realized that he was pumping the liquid side of the tank and not the solid one?? I would highly recommend Averill Park Septic and will be completing a review of them after I hit send on this one!
Description of Work: I hired Schodack Septic for a septic tank pumping and inspection before purchasing a 10-year old home in September 2012.

Schodack Landscaping certainly did a wonderful job for me. They did exactly what I asked and then some. The edging they did is between the garden and the yard to gather water and make trimming of the yard easier. I was surprised they were able to move these several large bushes and still keep them alive. I would certainly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They brought in new top soil and mulch for around my house. They also pulled out some old shrubs and brought in new ones. They moved several bushes to a different location as well and did some edging work around a garden.
