Vigilante Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

I called on 8 Nov because my boiler would not stay on, had a scheduled appointment for 11 Nov at 2pm. However on 10 Nov I got my neighbor to put my boiler on and it was doing ok so i cancelled my appointment. But the thermostat seemed as if it needed to be replaced. Anyway I was quoted on 8 Nov for regular calls it was 150.00 travel fee and 150.00 service fee if they do no work its wavied if they do some work and for emergencies it was 200.00-emergency fee plus 150.00 -travel fee, this you pat regardless if they do any worl. So I called them twice on that day because I was debating emergency or not. I was quoted these pricing twice by two different receptionist. Today when I called the person told me the emergency cost was 200 -emergency fee and 200.00 - travel fee. I told her I was quoted 150 on Saturday 8 Nov. she said that was a mistake and I said by two different people? She said its more to go to manhattan and that she has been working there 9 years and she knows their fees. She was non-negocible, simply said everyone knows their prices. But I was in a bind and needed service so I called back and she told me I had to pay up front with my credit card over the phone. I told her I give no one my credit info over the phone that there needed to be another way, she told me to hold on then got back on the line and said they had to take my card over the phone or they could not accommodate me! So with that said, I declined. I read the many good reviews on your website however, maybe because they have had several they no longer feel the need to be receptive to the customers needs. If there is a wrong price on an item in a store the store honors the price. I know this was over the phone and I could understand one individual with a wrong price but two, seems to me they should have honored the 150.00, lastly taking credit card numbers along with name and address and I'm sure they would have asked for the other 3digit numbers on back of most cards, could lead to identy theft. In the world today this is a very unsafe practice. Also of note when I made the appointment which could have cost me 300.00 I was asked for NO credit card info, makes you wonder was this because I challenge their prices for manhattan???

i had already identified the source of a leak in our shower (behind the wall, near the pipe connected to the shower head). nevertheless, vigilante came and opened up a further bit of the wall to allow access to the pipe and then repaired the leaking joint. as always, they were professional and the fees were reasonable. not a terribly complicated job, but a job well done.

I ordered an airconditioner tuneup and inspection, and was quoted $175 over the phone inclusive of a tuneup. They said that the cost of obtaining an estimate (without tune-up) would be half of that amount only. They came over to inspect the unit but did not provide any tune-up work, and refused to lower the price even though they promised to do so over the phone if no tune-up work was provided. When I called to complain, the receptionist was extremely rude and would not connect me to a manager or acknowledge that she would not honor the previous quote provided over the phone. I do not recommend using this business as they do not stand behind their quotes and do not seem to care to remedy problems that arise.

Customer service at Vigilante was superb! Jeanine & Andrew were great helping me schedule a time to give me an estimate on a complete replacement of my bathroom's shut off valves and toilet valve. Michael Squitieri performed the estimate and did the work while my wife and I were on vacation. Mike stayed in touch with me and I had assurance that everything was going well. Mike from day one was extremely amicable and honest about all the options we had from lowest price to highest price. We did have another quote which was a few hundred lower, but Mike was so trustworthy and gave us options, that I felt that you get what you pay for and wanted to have quality work first--plus I see their trucks all over Brooklyn that they are always working. The super of my building was impressed with their work, and that is not any easy thing to do, so I know the job was done right.

Overall a very good experience. Quick response, gave me notice when they were headed over, courteous and professional service. Repairs appear to be working well. Price for the primary repair was reasonable, but the overflow switch was quite expensive relative to the part cost so a B on price. I would use them again for repairs.

We had a big plumbing leak in our basement. They came and assessed it. They said that they would come back the next day. Then on the next day, they pumped out raw sewage that was leaking in the basement and then repaired the faulty lines. I thought they were fantastic. I really like the team that they sent. They sent actually two and both of them were really knowledgeable. I like to get somebody who has been doing it in this area with persons in a crisis. In this case, it goes to be really knowledgeable on the subject. Then, while we are waiting for the other partner to go and pick up supplies, I had a good maybe a one-hour long conversation with the one plumber about the entire heating and airing condition system of the entire building. He gave a lot of great suggestions, a lot of really good hands-on examples. He was really very informative. During the downtime but he really did not have to do it but he took it upon himself to show me what could be done and explained everything and a lot of different options which is nice.

I had to get the boiler fixed during the winter time, and I am clueless about that kind of stuff. I called Vigilante and were able to set up an appointment immediately. They came right on time and found the problem immediately. They were very professional, fast and courteous. They helped me understand why the problem happened and what they did to fix it. They also gave very helpful advice as to the care of the boiler without pushing any extra services on us. I felt very comfortable with them being in my house. They showed me the price directly from the book they had so I knew exactly what I was paying for. At this point I can't remember EXACTLY what the price was, I think it was around $400, but I remember it being reasonable and the work was worth the price.

recently did an oil to gas conversion and am very happy that I chose VIGILANTE simply because they told me the boiler size I needed and the btu's I needed to heat my home unlike others who were oversizing the boiler. VIGILANTE took time to get the job done right. The plumber technician PAPA MICHELE did the work excellently. PAPA MICHELE had all the knowledge to set up my gas boiler and water heater.When you look at his quality of workmanship and detail it is beautiful. PAPA MICHELE is like the "MICHELANGELO" of plumbers. I highly recommend PAPA MICHELE if you need any plumbing work done. VIGILANTE has a gem like PAPA MICHELE. The worst. Time window set between 11a and 3p. Guy finally shows up a 3:20pm. Spends about a half an hour sending a snake down the drain trying to clear it. Then he tries taking the overflow plate off and basically breaks it by stripping the screw that would make it come off. So he leaves without clearing the drain and I get charged $543 dollars for the experience. P.S. I called another plumber who did in fact clear the drain and charged me half the price.

Very professional, courteous, and seems knowledgable. We've had others in the past that was't as knowledgeable as Vigilante. Rated B for the market price of the Parts was way below the service charge, but understand there is a cost to inventory, labor, and other expenses. It's been several months now, and the Heater is still working as of few weeks ago. Will recommend them. Angie's List reviews was helpful. Vigilante honors Angie List members.

They were very good. They came on time, actually they got here before the time. The rate they gave were competitive and they seem to know what they were doing.

Professional, and courteous. Seems knowledgable. Haven't been long enough to see if the repair is for long term fix. We had other Companies serviced the unit in the past, where after repair the HVAC stopped working within 1 month or very few months after. The only down side was the Price was on the high end, including the Parts replaced comparing to market price. But will use them again if the HVAC breaks down for other reasons not related to the failure of wrong diagnosis or Parts replaced not lasting.

Kamal was very professional. He came by the week before to get a walkthrough for an estimate. We had seek out 3 establishments (all highly recommended and/or rated on Angie's List). The price they provided was by far the best we got from the 3. They even offered to install a new thermostat that we had bought free of charge. Camilo and his crew came on Monday morning on time to start the work. They realized there would need to be extra pipe work than originally estimated but they didn't charge us any extra. They finished the work in the time frame Kamal had given us and cleaned up perfectly. They definitely earned any future business we might have. I would highly recommend inviting them to bid on any work you might have.

it went really bad prices were too high!

Vigilante was instantly responsive: showed up when they said they would (within hours), finished emptying the old water heater and removed it, supplied the replacement heater, installed it, made sure it was working, and did all of this with remarkable efficiency and professionalism. They are expensive (I suppose), but worth it. We would absolutely call Vigilante first with any related emergency in the future.

Robert knew what he was doing. There have no problems with heat since the new boiler was installed. I am so thankful. I will definitely use Vigilante for any other plumbing problems that may arise in my apartment house

They changed an expandtion tank on the furnace, installed a drip valve on the furnace that took about $7 in materials and 10 mins time, and changed the thermostat. The expandtion tank took less time to change than to go to the plumbing supply store and buy.

It's so hard to find a good HVAC in NYC you can rely on. But Vigilante surprised us. We called Friday morning and we got someone on the phone right away and scheduled someone for that evening. They sent Dan and he did a great job fixing our heater. He was very professional. We will definitely recommend him. Thank you Vigilante!

Service returned at a time convenient to me to fix the job. They anchor the pipe correctly, fixing a job left behind by another plumber.

Had to chase three times to schedule an estimate and was then told they charge $79 for an estimate (when others do it for free).

The servicemen were excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. What I really liked was that when it came to fixing the broken part, they pulled out a book of prices and showed me how much it would cost. Versus simply giving me a figure. I felt confident in them. They also took the time to set my thermostat properly for winter.

Not much to say.

It started a little rocky; the first salesman was rude and condescending. When he sent the estimate, it had nothing to do with what we had discussed, but he included Sal Vigilante on the cc list so I emailed Mr. Vigilante and told him about the experience. After than everything went smoothly - these guys really know what they are doing and know how to explain the options so a completely uninformed customer can make the best choice to meet their own needs and budget.

This company did good job following up with me for the up coming schedule. The workers show up as scheduled. The worker inspected the problem first to determine whether it can be repaired without replacement. Since the skin of old water heater has warped and open. The insulation has exposed and water was leaking slowly. I decided to have them replace the water heater. They are the installation contractors for Home Depot. For them to pick up the water heater and install the heater will be slightly less expensive than me buying it from Home Depot separately, have it delivered to my house and have someone install it. Plus, they will take care of the old heater (for recycle). The installation was smooth, quick and clean. They tested the new heater thoroughly. They removed all the debris and clean up the basement floor very well. The pipe joints are done beautifully, clean and look better than before. They walked me thru the steps of maintaining the new water heater. They gave all the documents in folder - easy for me to apply for Federal green tax rebate later. Someone from the company did a followup call later to make sure that everything was taken care. They provide warranty of their work in 'writing'. You don't get warranty in 'writing' from some seasonal plumbers or handyman. This company did some repair and maintenance of our house heating system several years ago. They have been prompt and done very nice job. Since then, I have seen them as a reliable source for any emergency plumbing/heating problem.
