Joe came and fixed our leaking bathroom sink by replacing with a new tube. There's no longer leaks and he was very friendly and explained everything that was wrong as he works to fix it. We would recommend him!

Thanksgiving Day the heat went out, and it was impossible to get someone out that day. But I was able to get in touch with Petri, and they came out the day after and was able to troubleshoot the problem, and get it working. The service was excellent and professional, and Joe waited until it had been running and the heat was coming up before he left.

I was able to schedule the service call for after work. Joe was delayed on another job but kept me updated on his arrival time. Service was very thorough and speedy. Everything was explained in detail - what the problem was, what caused it, and how he was going to fix it. Joe also went through the associated costs in detail. The service call was completed more than a month ago and I have not had a problem since.

we are in a 6 unit condo and discovered water coming through the ceilings and walls from 3rd floor to basement. Petri plumbing was there within the hour and discovered that some pipes had frozen and burst due to exposed pipes on 3rd floor. They were able to replace pipes and find further cracks and replace those as well. We feel it was perhaps a bit expensive however, they were timely, courteous, knowledgable and extremely efficient. So in the end it was more than worth the money spent.

Had them in for two things in November. Boiler Maintenance/tune-up and they cleaned out a bathroom sink drain. Professional and clean. Price is higher end, but that's what plumbing rates are these days. It's definitely a valid career choice for earning.

I cannot give a higher recommendation for this company. I have been managing property in NYC for ten years and never met a more responsible and honest plumbing company. A property I manage went through a terrible Christmas crisis. A boiler blew out a day after Christmas causing a CO leak. The Fire Dept and Con-Ed turned off the gas to the entire building. No heat hot water or cooking gas for 7 units during the holidays. It was a simple job to repair (the chimney was clogged) but getting gas turned on by con-ed is far from simple. Knowing we were desperate every company I contacted tried to scam us wanting to charge thousands of dollars just to do the Con-Ed paperwork. But Petri plumbing went out of their way to help even before they had our business. First when they heard about the problem they referred us to someone qualified to make the required repair, a chimney and boiler cleaning company. and after the work was done and Con-Ed wanted to speak to a plumber they communicated with Con-Ed and submitted the paperwork on our behalf, without any payment commitment. And when Con-Ed insisted that a plumber come and turn-off all the valves in the building. They came immediately per con-eds instructions, showed me their labor cost schedule before starting the work, quickly and efficiently did the job. When they encountered problems they looked for an efficient and fast solution. They charged me $600 which was very reasonable for the amount of time it took. They then spent the next several days dealing with Con-ed and submitted all the required forms. Any other company could have easily taken advantage of our situation. They did not. In fact they went out of their way to help and spent much more time on helping us than the $600 I paid them. I am always nervous when I hire a plumber. As a building manager plumbing problems are my biggest fear. But now that I know the folks at Petri I have nothing to worry about. I know they can handle any job and they will do it efficiently at a fair reasonable and upfront cost!!! They really impressed me.

It went like clockwork -- which I must admit I didn't expect. The water heater was located in the ceiling of our corporate kitchen. and they needed to replace a 10-year old model that was not readily available and which we had to special order. The guys from Petrie Plumbing came on time, scoped out the job (a different person did the estimate) and prepped the area with plastic to protect our kitchen. They were fast, efficient and pleasant. They completed the job within 3 hours and then proceeded to clean up our kitchen and return the tables & chairs to their original locations. All in all, it went off without a hitch. I'd lost faith in people's capacity care about what they do for a living. These guys showed me that they knew their stuff and it looked like they actually liked the company they worked for. Amazing. Excellent! The service tech arrived slightly early and he was extremely professional. The cost was slightly below estimate due to being able to use existing hardware. Joe quickly and expertly converted a messy set of pipes and drain into a neat and professional appearance. Freed up much needed storage space below the sink. He carefully cleaned up after the work was completed.

After several repairs, I called the day before I was going on a cruise. The owner of the company came over, got the boiler working again without charging us, and we discussed replacing the boiler when I got back. My daughter was staying in the house while we were gone and he gave her his cell number in case there was a problem. It stopped working while I was gone and I called the owners cell number while I was on the ship and arranged to have it replaced while I was gone. My daughter let them in the house and left them to go to school. She had to let them in with the electrician the next day for an hour or so. My husband and I came home from our cruise to a warm house and a new boiler.

Petri provided great service from the initial call to the final cleanup. An old faucet had an unfixable leaking cross connection. The leak was up high, behind the bowl, under the faucet deck. I tried to block the leak with plumber's epoxy putty. Crunched into a corner, I could barely get my fingers up where the putty had to go, it didn't stick properly, and it made the situation worse by making the leak squirt around instead of dripping nicely into a pot After a second attempt made it even worse I gave up. Now it was Saturday. On Monday, my daughter's family was expected to arrive with two kids, 4 and 8 years old, and this would be their bathroom. I had a replacement faucet set but didn't have the physical flexibility, know-how, or proper tools to do the switchover. I checked Angie's List, called Petri Plumbing and was told they could get a plumber to me between 5 and 7 PM, maybe earlier. There would be a $50 weekend service charge. I said OK. Junior, an absolutely first rate plumber, arrived at 4:40, looked up in a ring binder the company price for the job, $335 + the service charge (and tax), and got my OK. He got his tools from the truck, put cloth booties over his shoes, and set to work. He was professional, efficient, methodical, and patient doing a difficult job. When he finished, he checked for leaks, and thoroughly cleaned up the work area. The whole experience way exceeded my hopes and expectations.

The only grade below perfect on my review is because I was initially told someone would arrive between 10-12 but he in fact arrived a few minutes after 12. After that, I was incredibly happy with how professional, effective, responsive, and helpful the Junior from Petri was (and Joe, who had come previously, was similarly helpful). Our boiler had been going out about once every 2 days. The gas valve diagnostic light went on and although it was running and running and running, the temperature of the water wasn't going over 100 degrees. My quick fix was to shut it down and restart the system, which would work for another day or two before the next shutdown. Junior told me that with our system, he would have to run a diagnostic (it's a pretty unusual, cheap system the builder put in when the building was built, so it seemed to make sense that he would need the separate diagnostic. He went over the pricing first, and got my go ahead. After running the diagnostic, he explained the system was getting overheated and automatically shutting itself down. The reason: the temperature was set at 140 (a temperature I was used to from a floor radiant system I had been familiar with before) instead of 180-200 (the temperature needed for a baseboard system). I felt stupid for needing such a simple solution, but the truth of the matter is that we have had other (separate) problems with this boiler in the past, and 3 different plumbers have seen where I had the temperature gauge set, and none ever mentioned this before. So I turned up the temperature. Heat was working. Junior left, having charged for the diagnostic and nothing more. Five hours later, the entire system shut down, and this time it wouldn't restart: as if Junior had added to the problem instead of solving it. I called. Once again, they weren't so timely in getting someone over, but Junior came on that evening, and spent 2 hours draining the system. I asked him what had happened. He explained: Among the problems our system has is that there is air in the system. This has been a continual, small problem. When we turned up the temperature on the water, though, it became a bigger problem as the air in the system expanded. This increased the pressure and caused the system to shut down. Should Junior have realized this might happen? Maybe. But it was unclear to him (as it has been to other plumbers who have looked at the system) just how much air had gotten into the system. So, Junior spent 2 hours draining the system to push out the air, as he explained it. When I asked how much it would cost for this extra time in the evening, he said: Nothing "I just want you to keep an eye on the system and tell me if it trips again. I'm as interested as you are in seeing if we've gotten this figured out." I couldn't believe I was working with someone who was so honest and fair in handling the issue. Since then, the system hasn't shut down. But we're keeping an eye on it...

A very nice and seemingly competent plumber came by for a slow water leak into my ceiling. I could tell it wasn't a water pipe, so I figured it was an old (hot water) heating pipe. It was visible about one story up from the first floor. | |He arrived and determined it was a drain vent line. The leak was discovered in the attic where the vent through the roof met a PVC pipe that split the vent line. It was a slow leak, perhaps 1 drop every 10 seconds when it was leaking, but probably had been there a decade or more. | |He said to fix it he would also need a roofer to replace the through-the-roof vent, and he'd need to cut a hole in the wall on the 2nd floor to replace the pipes. I asked if he could just put caulk or putty or something to close the leak up, and he said no. | |He charged me $100 and left with a $1,400 quote + the need of a roofer and parts, new vent, etc. | |Now, I'm not a moron, and I could have fixed this myself up in the attic if I knew anything about where to buy plumbing parts and supplies (which I don't). There's no way this was a $2,000 job. | |So we got someone from Craigslist. $200 including materials and tip. He put a new, flexible rubber interconnection between the roof vent (which was probably 50 years old and not leaking) and the PVC, secured with straps/clamps on both sides of the kind where you turn the screw to tighten the clamp. Furthermore, he disassembled the PVC parts and put purple primer and glue to reconnect them - the original (before my time) plumber had apparently just slid them together or something. | |So, bottom line - don't trust Petri Plumbing. They vastly overstated both the problem and the cost to repair. Unbelievable.

I found them on Angie's List. They are very good and I highly recommend them. I give them five stars. This is the third time I've used them and every time the person who comes is very qualified, smart and they do the job very quickly and very well. They are probably the best plumbing service I've used in Brooklyn.

I had gotten a few quotes and Petri Plumbing was in the middle, but it was clear from when you called Jeanne on the phone that they were by far the most professional. There was a cheaper option that wouldn't give straight answers and it seemed like everything was an unknown. When Joe came out for the initial estimate he brought fabric boots to cover his shoes. It's seems like a small detail, but when a company gets the details right, you know the work will be done correctly too. After the estimate they came out two business days later, and got nearly all the work done. One part was missing because it was an old flushometer, but they communicated that quickly and also quickly searched and ordered the part. Great experience with true down to earth professionals. I'd highly recommend them based on my experience. You don't always get what you pay for, but with them I felt the price was absolutely fair and it provided me with piece of mind. They also guaranteed their work for a year. Thanks again-

It went very, very well. Very professional; arrived on time, put on protective slippers, assessed the situation and ultimately saved us money on what had been a previous repair by our superintendent which was not done correctly. Engaging, and fully explained both his work and our options going forward. He corrected the situation and has the faucet running better than before we had the problem. Delighted with the work and the service person.

Mr. Petri was on and very good when he was explaining the details of the job'! he was up front and honest with us. I would recommend him yo my neighbors, friends and family member.

First of all, the people in the office who answer your call are very professional and helpful. I remember one woman I spoke to named Jeanie who was articulate, friendly, and very informative. I also cannot praise enough the highly skilled plumber who repaired my pipes. Victor, the plumber, explained in detail what needed to be done and showed me the corrosion on the pipes he replaced. He also gave me good advice on how to keep my pipes in good condition, i.e. Drano is bad, and left absolutely no mess. The space in my bathroom was tight and at one point he even went to his truck to cut the handle of one of his tools so he could fit the tool in the small space behind my pedestal sink and complete the job. I liked that he was a problem solver and was actively thinking about the job at hand. Also, when we discussed the cost, Victor consulted a spiral bound, printed price list. I have never come across a contractor with a printed price list. This made me feel very comfortable in using this company because you always hear horror stories of contractors, mechanics, etc, charging different prices to different clients. By seeing the price list, I knew I was being treated fairly. I highly recommend Petri.

The answering service lady took all my information. I didn't want to miss a call back so stayed at home for two weekend days. For nothing. I never received a call back. So, I took my business to a different place.

Despite having emailed provider a comprehensive picture and spec of what needed to be done, I had to call several times just to get them to acknowledged they had even seen the email and to call me back. Mike called me back and seemed quite knowledgeable, but after the first call it took an additional several weeks to get a quote. Finally, after over a month after my first contact, they provided a quote which was a full 400% greater than what this very simple job was ultimately completed for. I'm sure Petri is good at what they do, but for what I estimated was about the $1,000 per hour they charge for their services, they are extraordinarily overpriced.

Joe H. and David H. arrived promptly and were extremely thorough in their review of the current equipment, what was wrong, and what needed to be done to ensure long term quality. We use the kitchen sink frequently, particularly if your building doesn't allow dishwashers. Not only would I hire them again, I have already recommended them to colleagues. Absolutely terrific.

The best thing about Petri's is the receptionist who answers the phone with a bright "So how can I put a smile on your face today?" That's the beginning and end of that smile. I'm a new home-owner and my kitchen sink had developed the slightest of leaks. A drop would fall at a time on the ground below. I thought this would be a really minor job- maybe a washer needed to be changed? Certainly didn't anticipate anything more than $150 bucks. Called Petri based on the good reviews (though reviewers did warn about their pricing- but I thought a minor leak- how much could it be?). The plumbers recommended by friends were all busy for the next 10 days and I didn't want to wait. Petri's gave me a next day appointment. I realize now that that in itself was a bad sign! Well the plumber came- late- but he arrived- and he said that 1) there was a leak because the water wasn't draining properly. I honestly had no problem with drainage. You leave any tap running at full volume and a bit of water will collect around the drainage hole. He said he'd first need to open up the drain and clean it out. The price for that was $250 plus taxes. Then, get this: he says that 2) "usually" while cleaning out the drains the pipes break and in an old building like this almost certainly the pipes would fall apart and would have to be replaced. Old building? This building was built in 2011 and has copper pipes. So in addition to snaking the drain which would cost $250, he tells me that a new pipe will cost at least $ 350 plus taxes. I'm looking at a bill that would be in the region of $700. To get Petri to come over I'd already agreed to pay them $100 for a home visit- so think about the double bind you're in- they can pretty much charge you anything and you'll feel you have to use them because you're already committed to paying that $100. Well, that's when I said he could wrap it up and leave and I would definitely get another estimate. The guy telling me the pipes would fall apart during snaking was so ridiculous at even I, who know nothing about plumbing, wasn't going to fall for that one. I also told them I would take this up with Angie's. Anyway the guy left (it wasn't pleasant) and then I looked through Craig's list and called Danny the plumber. Danny whom I didn't know was there within a couple of hours. No, there was nothing wrong with the drainage, he said. The water drained just fine. There was a bracket that needed to be changed. Danny spent an hour, changed two brackets, fixed the leak, and guess what he charged me for materials and labor? $100. Plus he gave me a warrantee for a year. I've learnt a lot from this experience. A free estimate is very important- I think it keeps the market competitive and promotes honesty.
