Empire State Moving

The experience of working with them was good. They picked up some furniture from our apartment and stored it for a while. So, it was convenient for us to get it delivered from New York to New Jersey and vice-versa. Their price was good; their service was good too. They were very professional.

The packers were late coming to my office and it took much longer than anticipated. There were 3 movers and they packed files and disassembled furniture and put everything in storage. 3 weeks later 3 men packed up misc items and furniture in Goshen NY and put them in storage with the office items. Last, 8 men packed all the items in my Manhattan apt and stored until the moving van left a couple of days later. When the van left NYC to NC they couldn't get all of the items in one truck. I wasn't notified of this until the truck arrived a few days later. I was understandably upset since this required additional time for me to supervise unloading and more unpacking and not having a couple of items, like a bed, that I needed at the time. I complained to a supervisor in NYC and he was rather unapologetic but did agree to not charge more and to make an additional stop for me to drop a piano for refinishing nearby. The driver of the van for both trips to NC, Kelvey who works for Wheaton, is great. He is very cautious and meticulous with furniture etc. The move cost more than $10K due to all the tips for all the packing days and moving days, probably an additional 700.00 which is expected. As I said, the guys did a good job and if it hadn't been for the inconvenience, and more importantly of the lack of notification that items were not on one truck I would have given them A+.

There were no goods that were broken or damaged. They were prompt; they came on time. They were responsive and professional. I was extremely impressed with the supplies they used to pack our things. I had previously placed the clothes in my closet inside of a suitcase while my husband did not, I wish that i had left my clothes on the hangers because the special 'garment' boxes they used to pack the clothes made unpacking for him a breeze! The workers even did it for us. They were remarkably fast in packing an entire 1 bedroom apartments worth of stuff, that would have taken me a month to do only took them one day. They arrived early around 9am and were done unpacking at the new place by sun down. They also were NOT stingy with the boxes and supplies. They used whatever was necessary and did not try to stuff too many things in one box. Also they were so organized and neat, they labeled each and every box so well and there were no 'MISC' boxes to sort through. They also placed each box in their appropriate location in the new apartment, as well as placing the furniture in the appropriate places. As they were un loading the boxes in the new place, i was spray painting a shelf outside before bringing it inside. One of the workers saw me struggling and offered to help, he ended up spray painting the entire thing way better than i would have even after a long day of packing and unpacking our things. This was a major plus, they stayed positive the entire time and were so courteous we just had to buy them lunch. They deserved every penny they earned and we tipped them generously. I would not hesitate to hire them again in a heartbeat, and I continue to recommend them to my friends.

I was a basket case. I had lived in the old apartment 15 years. My wife recently died and I had to lower the rent. They were running late ... they called but the building had a deadline I thought we might not make. I called friends who came over and helped me make decisions. They did everything I remembered to ask and finished without any problems.

The movers were great. Even though they arrived late (due to traffic issues) they made up for it by being courteous, professional, careful and very fast. The cost for the move was less than the estimate. I tipped 20% based on the original estimate and they appreciated it very much.

They came and helped me finish packing at the last minute and boxed everything up. They put everything where it belonged and assembled whatever was disassembled. They came in and seemed to be the most professional. On moving day they were there at 9 in the morning. They seemed to have a very efficient system. There were four men and it was like clockwork. The foreman pretty much kicked me out of the old apartment and told me to go upstairs and direct traffic.

The company conducted their work in professional ways and kept to what they said. The movers were extremely prompt and courteous, with very good work habits. The truck arrived on time, gave me an estimate of the time and work to be done; got right to work and did a very good job. A manager brought boxes the night before and even waited for me in the rain to give the boxes to me to pack (Great!). The move it self went very smoothly - I was anticipating being hit hard with a very high bill at the end, but the lead mover gave me a bill that was below the estimated cost and I was very pleasantly shocked. Everything went very smoothly with Moving Man -- except the guy that came to my house to do the initial estimate. He acted a bit condescendingly when I asked questions, but that might have been because of his level of English and due to maybe being in a new country (no excuses, though). Overall -- VERY satisfied with Moving Man. I would definitely use them again.

The estimator / owner, Jon was well aware of the situation at the new building so I think his estimate was off which really disappointed me. In the elevator building we had sole use of the elevator during the move. The movers were very professional....the one unprofessional thing was being pressured by the head mover (Jose, I believe) to tip higher. When it was time to pay, I dealt with him and offered a tip of $30 per person. He told me they would "really be much happier" with $40 each. Is this customary? I know they worked quite hard and also, I could have said no, but I felt uncertain and gave in. This was upsetting financially since the estimate went over too. I had a couch which would not fit in the building and that was definately NOT the fault of the movers in any way. However the head mover told me..."oh the company will charge you $200 to take it back to your original residence" (10 minutes away) - he offered to "work something out" or dump the couch for me or suggested I give it to the moving company. That is what I did....it wasn't going to fit, getting it back to my other address sounded complicated and expensive - I really prefered it have a home....but in thinking about it - telling me the company would charge $200 didn't make sense. I think this could have been handled better. Adding up these things, I felt a little bit "taken." I would like feedback on what is an appropriate tip in this situation. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call (a message on my answering machine) from Jon Stout, owner and estimator at Moving Man 2 days after I filed this report. Mr. Stout was very matter-of-fact in his manner, said that he agreed that the job had not been estimated correctly and that his employees had not acted appropriately regarding the issue of tipping. The company credited $160. BACK to my credit card and returned my love seat (in good condition and at no cost) to its original location (where it WOULD fit). Given the excellent reputation of this company and how quickly they responded, I would have to say the management is definately interested in satisfying their customers. My only concern is that ALL FOUR of the movers will be penalized in some way for this and that the money refunded may be coming from their salaries. I expressed to Mr. Stout that in my opinion only one of the movers was involved but I'm not sure he heard me on this point. (I e-mailed him after receiving his message and he responded). Nevertheless, I feel it's fair to upgrade my rating to "A" for this company. Their follow-up was unexpected and very professional. They are obviously trustworthy which seems to be rare in this industry.

They were very fast, friendly and efficient. They did a good job. The person who came to give the estimate was very friendly and pleasant that even my dog liked him. None of my things were broken or damaged. They charged according to the estimate.

I saw this company on Angie's list. I called and the office and spoke to Fillippo. Even though we were not given them much time to arrange this move. Fillippo put my mind at ease and told me they could do the move. He scheduled an estimate with Vladimir. He arrived at our apartment and looked over what we had to move in a very respectful manner. He was polite and professional. He explained everything to my husband and to me. He gave us the estimate and the actual price was the same. That alone says so much about this company. The movers arrived on time. We had 5 movers. I believe Miguel was the boss on that move. All the movers worked quickly. All of them were kind, polite and friendly. The apartment and the stock rooms emptied out so fast, it was amazing. We had to actually force the movers to stop long enough to have some pizza. They ate really fast and went right back to work. They did their job and they packed up the truck in the time they promised. They took nothing for granted. If they did not know something, they asked. Two important things to note...I had a diamonique wedding ring set. It was near the sink. To most, at first glance, I am sure someone would think it was worth a small fortune. Alfonso found the rings. I did not see him find them. He found me and handed me my rings. Can you imagine? It really speaks much about the work ethics of the company and the man. The second thing I want to note...no matter what the value is of the item they packed, it was all done with care. This was the best move we ever made. If you want a good move, a professional move and excellent service from beginning to end, call this company.

It all went quickly, professionally and safely. The original estimate quoted a price that was for a whole day's work. The guys finished the job, including loading the truck, driving from Brooklyn to Yonkers and unloading boxes and furniture into the appropriate rooms in the house, in half the time. Rather than adhere to the estimate price, they billed us half the price instead - essentially charging us less for superior, faster work.

I would recommend them in the future.

They were terrific. We loved them! They are really nice guys. They showed up on time. They did not damage anything taking care of our property. They came in below their quote price.

It was a very big job and I was very pleased with them. Their service was excellent and they were pleasant to work with.

Moving Man Inc. was one of the three movers recommended by the developer of the condominium I was moving into. I checked the three on Angie's List and found that Moving Man had the best ratings, so I called them. Vladimir Melikhovski came to my apartment the day after I called to give me an estimate. He was able to schedule the move on exactly the day I wanted, and subsequently, when I had to change the date, he was able to reschedule it without any problem. On moving day, the Moving Man crew arrived precisely on time, completed the packing and loading of my belongings on time, and arrived as scheduled at the new apartment building. They were efficient in unloading the truck and putting the boxes and other items in the rooms where we wanted them. I haven't found any damaged items. I'm very pleased with the quality and punctuality of their work and would recommend them highly for a local move in NYC.

Three-man crew arrived on time, did the move smoothly and crisply. Originally, the job was just to bring the boxes to the unit, but since there was plenty of time left on the minimum, they were wholly amenable to altering the job to include rearranging things in the storage space and bringing the selected items back to my home, all for the previously agreed-upon price.

Vlad came to the house and gave us a fair appraisal, best price of everyone. They had excellent recommendations and even moved the current US Attorney General Mike Mukasey, but this was when he was a judge in NYC. Anyway don't hesitate to use them, they are great and the movers were real careful and courteous. Total move took 2 days.

They are as good as it gets. They make sure things are packed up correctly. They are very professional. They are excellent. The price is fair, including the pack, load, dive to destination and then unload.

It went well. I was very pleased with the service, they were just very good. They were very delicate with my property and they were very careful about everything.

Used this vendor for packing and moving. The packing staff was superb. They were courteous, efficient and friendly. The moving staff was good not superb. But after the move I discovered that 3 of 4 dinning room chairs were damaged. I had purchased replacement insurance so I was not particularly worried. However, it was difficult to get someone to talk to me about the damage. Then it took almost a month to get someone to come and look at the chairs. When they came they did not get back to me with a plan of action. It was only after I threatened a law suit that I got an offer, which was not full replacement value. They refused to make a claim with the insurance company and said that they would not place a claim and if I had not purchased the insurance I would not have gotten an offer at all.

They did an excellent job. We used them before and plan to use them again in the future. They were very carefully with all of our boxes. They were easy to work with and very polite.

They were really wonderful. Very good work. They didn't break anything, and they did exactly what they said they would.

This could have been a very stressful move, but this company did an excellent job. The estimate was accurate. The only surprise was that it was almost $300 for packing materials and most of it was tape. I used almost all of my own boxes, so they didn't have to supply many boxes for us.

Moving Man did a great job. They were professional and worked really hard. They took longer packing than they had originally estimated so the price was a bit higher than estimated. But in general, the guys are nice and took great care of my belongings. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who's looking for a mover.

The move went very well and I was very happy with the movers. Four men and a truck arrived at about 9:15 and started right in. Mostly everything was packed, but there were still some items, primarily in the bedroom, that needed to be put in boxes. The guys started moving furniture and boxes from one area of the apartment to the truck while a friend and I tried to finish the packing in another area. The movers supplied some more boxes, tape and also helped with the packing when necessary. They were quiet and efficient and had everything packed, including from a storage area in the basement, in about three hours. After a lunch break, they drove to the new apartment and unpacked there in about three hours. They were careful, particularly in the new apartment where the floors had been recently refinished, and placed furniture and other items in the places I designated. The total time was about 7 hours, which was just what had been estimated. In fact, the price would have been almost exactly as estimated, but for the fact that I decided to buy the insurance. Probably unnecessary given how careful they were, but you never know what might happen, even in a short move.
