It was fantastic. The refrigerator was in good working order when he left. I had ice cubes again and it was in perfect shape. He was very professional.

They were very professional and did a good job.

They came on two occasions to repair a leaking refrigerator. The first trip was successful but did not fully fix the problem. The second trip addressed the issue permanently and since they did not find the root of the problem on their first visit, they didn't charge for the second visit.

I purchased an Angie's coupon for $100 for $200 of Sub Zero Refrigerator Repair. I didn't realize what that was exactly. I thought it was just for refrigerator repair. When I called to schedule the repair for my ice maker, I mentioned that I was using a coupon. No one explained to me that the coupon was for something else. The repairman arrived on time. He was professional and found the problem, unfortunately in the process of defrosting the ice maker to fix the problem a part of the ice maker broke. I don't know if I should have had to pay for that part, but the total cost with the part was $260.00. When I presented the coupon the repairman told me that the coupon was for a different service. Fortunately he accepted the coupon anyway, so in the end it cost me $160.00. A bit more than I expected for an ice maker, but it works now.

It was a "no pressure" experience.

We called Robert on a Wednesday; he was there that afternoon when he said he would be to make the initial repair and while there determined that the company had the parts needed in stock. He returned the following day to install them, a more difficult task than expected because of corrosion. He didn't charge us for the extra time (although we offered). He is professional, tidy, punctual, and expert. He will be our go-to appliance guy from now on.

The cleaning helped me salvage an old unit that can still be used for some time if I'm willing to put up with some extra noise. The diagnosis is exactly what I needed to make a decision to keep and repair or discard an old air conditioner. While they were here, I also got an estimate of what it would cost to install a new air conditioner and weather proof the window. Excellent for $39.00.

AV Appliance started off well. Robert, who appears to be the only employee, made an appointment very quickly to come look at the problem. He showed up on time and in the timeframe he had promised. Once he had seen my fridge, and heard a recording I'd made of the noise, however, he seemed unable to clearly diagnose the problem. He suggested that perhaps I needed freon and told me I could use a thermometer to track the temperature inside the fridge and freezer, but then left me with a temperature gauge to use. I had understood that I could use the gauge he gave me instead of a thermometer. When he left, he waived his fee for the visit. I was very pleased but uncertain that he really understood how to fix the problem. I called Robert back after 1 week and then he told me I needed to use an actual fridge thermometer instead of the gauge he had left me. So I bought a thermometer and took measurements. I called Robert back on a Monday and left a message for him to follow up with me regarding the readings. Two days passed and I never heard from him. I called him on a Wednesday morning, at first couldn't reach him (at 10am), called the cell phone number he had left and it was a wrong number, then after the third attempt was able to reach him. He did not remember who I was or even seem aware that I had left a message two days previously. He did not even accurately recall what my problem was. When I reminded him that my original problem was noise, he ended the conversation by telling me that his original theory about needing to add freon probably wouldn't work because he had done it recently and it caused more noise. So he said there was nothing he could do. What I liked initially was that he made an appointment quickly, showed up on time, and waived the fee. If it wasn't for these things (most importantly, waiving the fee) I would have given him an overall F. He was mostly unreachable when I tried to call - he needs to hire an office manager. It took approximately two and a half weeks to find out I was back where I started. Very disappointing. Also, to be honest he seemed out of it when I spoke to him. Once again I am disappointed with the quality of Angie's list recommendations. I can't imagine I am the only one to experience these problems, so find it difficult to understand how this company ended up with such high ratings.

On Friday, I purchased a Big Deal coupon for $39 for AV to come to our house and diagnose the problem. The following day, I called AV and left a message asking them to call me. Within the hour, Robert called me back. He was able to come to our house that same day. He arrived when he said he would, took the oven apart, diagnosed the problem, and quoted us a very reasonable price. We said we would like him to do the work and he said fine, he had the part in his car. The work was finished in a very short time and our oven has been working perfectly ever since. All of this occurred in less than 24 hours. Robert was very courteous and professional. We were impressed with the prompt service and thrilled that we don't have to buy a new stove!

They were very friendly and helpful however the repair needed to come from the manufacturer. They were kind enough to provide me with the telephone number for GE. I would definitely use them again in the future.

Our oven broke so I joined Angie's list and called AV Appliance. Much to my surprise, the guy was able to come over that afternoon (unheard of in Manhattan) and diagnosed the problem. He didn't have the correct part but was willing to do a temporary repair if we needed that oven that day. He quoted us a price for the parts and labor which seemed high. I checked the price of the parts online to see if we could do the repair ourselves. It seemed complicated so I called the guy back and we worked out a much more reasonable price. Two days later everything was up and running like new. I am very pleased with the service and the job. Thank you Angie ....and Robert!

AV Appliance is really, really good -- pure and simple. Problem we had was with our GE Refridgerator. I called the name and number provdied on the Angie's List coupon when I signed up for one of their deals ($100 of service for $50) at 10:20 and got a call back at 10:40. Repairman showed up at our apt at 12:00 noon (he had an open slot) and he fixed the problem in about 25 min. From first phone call to writing the check was about 3 hours (we live in downtown Manhattan). He was professioanl and capabale and the price was fair. Great work - thx!!

My refrigerator was dying and I did not want to buy a new one, so I researched about how a refrigerator should be fixed, I researched them, and called them. Their technician came out, he punctured the Freon pipe inside the refrigerator, and just shot in some new Freon, and everything I read said that, that should be a last case scenario that they should do other things first for the symptoms my refrigerator was showing. I was upset that he came out and did that first, he went away, and my refrigerator was worse after he did that. One needs to be licensed to do Freon fills and he was. His associate came back the next day, changed some small mechanical things that they should have tried doing first and came back two days repeatedly to change some more things. The original guy, the licensed man shoots up the Freon and his follow up, the unlicensed man needed to call the initial man on the phone to be told how to do something, that was very annoying. I ended up paying close to $200 for all of this and I finally said enough is enough and asked them to put it back the way it was because whatever they were doing was not working. What they did that is right by me is that ultimately, they refunded me everything expect the initial visit, so financially, they did right in a sense. However, the bad thing about them was that they never checked anything, I was told by the people on the refrigerator forum to check some things that they didn't even look at, so I would not recommend them. If they were responsive, the man who did the Freon work would have come back every time, but he sent his assistant instead. However, when they said they would be here, they were here.

They were timely and did a good quality job. They were cleaned up when they were done. I was pleased.
