AV Appliance Service

The appointment was quickly made at a time convenient for me. The service people arrived promptly, moved my refrigerator to clean the coils in the back and cleaned the inside as well. They removed all the food, shelves and drawers, cleaned everything, and put it all back. The refrigerator runs more quietly now, so I guess it needed the service. Job well done.

It was great. He did the job well and for the price he quoted.

He arrived on time and was very professional,. Did not try to sell me anything more than what I needed. Fixed the door and was very curteous.

I called AV Appliance Service based on recommendations from Angie's List. I have an Explorer refrigerator - not a common brand - and it was collecting water under the crispers. The guy on the phone was extremely personable and set a date for the following day between 9:00 - 11:00 am. At 11:00, no one had shown up, so I called to find out why. I got an answering machine but before I had a chance to finish leaving the message, they had called me back. They were running late and asked if I could be there for another couple of hours. Didn't much appreciate the delay. Wouldn't have minded so much if they had just let me know; I could have run out to do an errand. I said as much on the phone and within another 10 minutes, the repair man had called to say he'd be there in 20 minutes. Once he got there, he was excellent - efficient, knowledgeable, well-spoken. He immediately diagnosed and fixed the problem. Since then the fridge has been purring along, no water under the crispers. So even though I'm dinging them for punctuality, the fact is, I trust them and will definitely use them anytime I have an appliance issue.

Tony arrived on time. We told him about the problems we were having setting the right temperature for the refrigerator and the freezer. Within minutes he diagnosed the problem after melting an ice build up and replaced

Had to call to make sure he was coming. Knew right away what the problem was and how to fix it. Asked him to clean under freezer grates and did so very agreeably. Appreciated coupon and that he come someday.

Arrived within pre scheduled time. Frarie technician was pleasant & able to get my unit up & running quickly. Everything went well, no problems at all.

I thought AV Appliance Service were very good because they came out right away and they fixed the problem right away. I was happy.

My refrigerator wasn't getting cold,so I called AV Appliance and informed him that I got his name and number from Angie's list. I told him the problem and he said that he would get back to me,which he did within 15 minutes. He sent a repair person that same day and it was discovered that I might need a part. The repair person said that he would order the part and would be back the next day, while he was there he clean out the part that was needed. well the next morning the frigde was cold. when the repair came to change the part I told him that the fridge was working, and he said great. He said that he will credit our card for $220.00 the money that it would have cost for the part and labor. I was so happy that we didn't have to spend the money to replace that part and with him being so honest with us. Thank you Angie,for your list. The Wilkins

We purchased a "Big Deal" which promised to clean dust around the coils of the refrigerator. do a tune up, clean the inside of the refrigerator with a 'mild soap" and clean the bottom tray. The technician arrived over an hour late, but it was a rainy night, so that is not a huge problem. We had to call the technician to see when he would arrive, he did not call us to say he was running late. He cleaned the coils with a brush that unfortunately dispersed dust particles all over the kitchen, and dust "bunnies" all over the floor. He did not clean the floor when he left, so we had to mop the floor and wipe down the kitchen after this service. I would think that a vacuum cleaner/suction device could be used to minimize the mess. He used Formula 409 and OUR paper towels to clean out the inside of the refrigerator. That is hardly a "mild soap". We were feeding our children dinner during this time and the fumes smelled. After he left and we were putting everything back into the refrigerator, we noticed/realized that the bottom tray was untouched and quite dirty. We wanted to give the company a chance to rectify the situation, so a phone call was made. No apology was given, just a simple statement that the technician did what the deal advertised. He said the bottom tray cleaning is "not what they do". Our refrigerator is running better after this service, due to the cleaning of the coils. However, the interior did not need too much cleaning. So we basically paid $80 to have the coils dusted off, then we had to clean up after it! We do not feel that we got the complete advertised service. I am very happy we didn't pay the full price for this service -- not worth it!!!!

The fridge/freezer may still need additional freeon which is an additional $100. We are giving it a few weeks to see if this great cleaning will be what it takes to get this machine through another year or two. Really recommend this service.

We needed help with or 10 year old Sub Zero fridge. AV answered the phone and got a service tech to or apartment the same day. The service tech spent a few minutes looking at the unit and determined that it needed more Freon. He told us how much it would cost before starting,then promptly carried out the service.

The service man was very punctual and repaired the door quickly. I did not get any competing estimates, so I cannot really comment on their cost in relation to others. I am very satisfied with the work. The door is functioning properly for the first time in years. My only, very minor, complaint is that he turned the refrigerator off and forgot to turn it back on. When I went in to it next, the ice cubes were floating in their trays, but everything else was fine.

The water dispenser started to work an hour after the service person left and it continued to work for a day or two after. After that, the line must have re-frozen at some point, because it?s been blocked ever since. The service man arrived on time and he was neat and professional. He was not able to permanently fix the issue, but that is due more to our model of fridge than this service visit.

Didn't seem to have a clue what was going on with the oven. Came up with an excuse about a wiring problem in the apt which is not true. I did give good points for punctuality and responsiveness though it was a total waste of my time and money.

great experience - quick and responsive - not expensive and there was a coupon for the service as well.

I called to have them fix my microwave oven. They were very courteous and professional on the phone and told me that they only service over ranges.

He came a day early and he did do the repair. I am hoping that we won't need to call him back again. I had faith that the quote he gave was an honest one.

It was a few days before Easter when I called AV Appliance for help. I spoke with the owner who was willing to come out on Good Friday from the Bronx to Crown Heights, Brooklyn to look at the stove. Everybody knows how bad the traffic is on a Friday, especially when it is a holiday weekend. So I was very impressed with the customer service they offered. They were able to determine the problem, which didn't require any repair. I had purchased a coupon from this company on Angie's web-site so it only cost me $30 for the service call. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend their services.

Called and they said they would come the next day -- but managed to fit me in early, at the end of the day I called. Very nice and fast. Fridge working fine.

The technician made a quick assessment, recommended $550 in repairs, mentioned that it will most likely cost more. Then, recommended we just buy a whole new washing machine. I had another company evaluate the situation, made recommendations, set a price and completed the job for $150 less.

I called the company and told the guy I needed my ice maker in my Sub Zero fixed. I was told someone could be at my apartment Monday....and perhaps on Sunday. Within minutes, a technician called and told me he'd be at my place within an hour. Less than an hour later, the really nice tech showed up. In less than an hour, my ice drawer was cleaned out and the new ice maker was installed. The tech asked for $350 plus tax........we settled on cash. Being curious, I went on line to check the price for the ice maker. There are many resources listing prices averaging approx $40.00... I didn't know appliance techs made $300/hour. We even discussed the jerk who came over last summer to fix my air conditioner who told me I needed to replace the thermostat.....for hundreds of dollars.....I was lucky that the day before replacement was scheduled, a friend was over, changed the batteries and the thermostat worked just fine. That tech was either an idiot or a thief. When I called his shop and let them know batteries was all that I needed, the person asked "Are you canceling the new thermostat?" Although my ice maker in my fridge has been fixed, I feel totally ripped off.
