cost to repair was prohibitive

Tech was very professional and quick in his diagnosis but to clean the valves he said would be another 100 bucks. I paid for the cleaning and am glad to have had the servicing done but not sure exactly what the 30 big deal covered. I would hesitantly use AV Appliance service because the work was good but I also think twice about paying for a big deal service without understanding exactly what it does and does not include.

Repairman Robert arrived as scheduled and began to check out problem. He had several hypotheses about the problem but none of them panned out. The problem was cured by his presence and good intentions.

I had a problem with our ice smelling strange. The subzero does not have a changeable filter. I liked that they did not try to sell me an expensive filter but instead explained that I just needed to be aware of what I put in the freezer and to keep baking soda in there. He cleaned all the mechanics in the unit very well.

CLEANED SUBZERO BUT ALSO DISCOVERED AND FIXED A CLOGGED TUBE IN THE REFIGERATOR WHICH WAS CAUSING CONDENSATION BUIDL UP. HE WAS VERY NICE AND ACCOMODATING AND DIDN'G EVEN CHARGE ME EXTRA. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

Within a matter of a few hours after my initial call to AV Appliance Service, I received a return call from Robert. After telling him what was wrong with my fridge, we made an appointment for the very next morning. He was prompt. After the initial check, he determined that Freon was needed. Before he could do that, he had to clean out the back of the fridge and break-up the build up of ice around the coils. Once this was done, he recharged the Freon. He was thorough and cleaned up after himself. I was impressed with his professionalism.

The job went great. Robert arrived on time, was professional, fast and neat! The price was exactly what I thought it would be. I would definitely use AV Appliance again.

Robert was great: he :answered his callls quickly, was flexible with building's hours for service, and apersonable as well. Couldn'rt ask for more. Happily cooking again.

I noted shortly after the repair that water was draining on kitchen floor. I had to leave, threw towels on the floor and was able to reach Robert directly as I was on route to important meeting. I was nervous about flooding my kitchen floor. He explained that he might have added too much water ...during the work. He reassured it would evaporate and that all would be fine. I trusted he was right and indeed he was. Refrigerator is operating perfectly.

The service provider seemed pretty good overall. He was responsive, answered the phone usually right away. Returned calls soon after getting my voice mail message. The work was done in a prompt and professional manner. I was a little frustrated that the technician needed to make a second trip with the replacement heating element. But in fairness, my fridge is more than 10 years old and he did have many parts and tools with him. Perhaps no tehcnician would have had the heating unit my GE fridge needed. The reason I am griping about it is that fridge repair is messy for the customer (me anyway). So on two separate occasions, I needed to launder big towels that got soaked from the defrosting process necessary. This isn't unique to this repair man- I figure any tech would need to defrost an older model self defrost fridge. Another detail which was a bit annoying was the tech told me "We will reschedule once your check clears." That felt a bit rude to me. I'm sorry if other cleints have given him bad checks but I never do. Not ever. I was a little offended (I realize he doesn't know me or that I have good credit.) I would have preferred if just would have "We'll reschedule once I have the replacement part in a few days." Period. But otherwise he was pleasant -not too chatty but hey, he was there to fix the fridge which he did and I was very satisfied with the work. He seems honest and I would recommend him without hesitation.

They were excellent. I paid an extra charge, but I had another appliance for them to check on and they checked it. Then, it works. The extra charge was not much because it was not a big problem. Their review said that they are very honest and knowledgeable, and that is the truth. They are very honest. He was direct and said that it was not a big problem. He fixed it. So, it was not a big job. As a matter of fact, everybody that I got from Angie’s List was lousy. This was the first time I had a positive experience.

Robert called when he was on his way, he was neat, clean, and courteous. He came prepared with all his equipment. It took him less than an hour. He even gave me advice on venting my gas dryer.

I was having two problems with my fridge: a really bad drip in the back, and a funny gurgling noise every time I closed the door. The technician showed up inside of the agreed time window, looked at the fridge, cleared out a clog in the drip tray and cleaned the coils. He could not figure out what was causing the gurgling noise but assured me it was nothing to worry about. The service would have cost $140 but I used an Angie's List coupon for $20 off.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was okay. They came later than I expected but they did show up and they were in the time period that they said they would be. He basically said that it would require taking the air conditioner out. It needed major work that would cost about $300. At that point, I might as well get a new air conditioner. I also don't have $300 to either repair or get a new one. At that point, there was nothing else for him to do so he left and I'm holding up until next summer. The cost was just what I paid through Angie's List which was $30 because there was nothing else that could be done. What they wanted to do was way more expensive than what I could afford. It would basically because it needed a cleaning and new freon or gas in the unit which he said cannot be done in the home or can adequate cleaning be done in the home. They have do a special skin cleaning thing and for that they have to take the unit out and the cost for the whole thing would be $300. I have no reason from them to believe this because I didn't speak to them beforehand, we just set the stuff through the internet but I had hoped that they will be able to do something in home that wouldn't be too expensive but according to him, that wasn't going to solve my problem. I thought he knew what he was doing. He was very nice and explained everything very clearly.

They were great and I paid a total of $400 because I had to purchase a new piece of equipment.

I made the appointment on a Friday afternoon for Saturday btwn 8am-12pm, they were there a little after 8am. The refrigerator, which is a 7 year old GE Profile, needed a new computer board because it had stopped getting cold, the freezer stopped freezing and the water and icemaker stopped working. It took maybe 20-30 minutes. I had the $50 coupon for $100 worth of work which was a bargain to me because in my head I had planned on spending at least $500. Don't know why that was just the figure that popped into my head. What we paid was much cheaper than spending another couple thousand on a new refrigerator. The icemaker is actually a separate component than the computer board so that would be a separate charge.

I made an appointment and they did not come the first time. We rescheduled. They did not call ahead of time when they were on the way. I had to clean out the refrigerator and I could have had it empty before they got there. They also asked me for cleaning supplies, they did not have them. I was disappointed that they did not have their own cleaning supplies. I also had a light out in the refrigerator and they did not replace that. They were pleasant and nice, though.

Second time I've used Robert. As before, he arrived on time fully prepared with likely parts (expensive refrigerator controller board in this case) diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Highly recommended.

The only reason this isn't an 'A' is because i can't say they excelled far beyond others because I have no point for comparison. The company provided efficient service at a reasonable price, the repairman who came was nice, and i definitely would call them again. I called on a Thursday or Friday and made arrangements for a repair person to come the following Monday. I described the symptoms on the phone, and the person I spoke with provided some ideas about the possible problems and a very rough estimate. The repairman (Victor) arrived on time and was pleasant. He got right to work and identified the problem, which was one of the items identified in the original call. He had replacement parts in his truck and installed them the same day. He cleaned the mechanical area along with the service. The final repair price was slightly higher than the rough estimate, but not unreasonable. The sole difficulty I had was hearing over the cellphones the employees were calling from (probably their own phones).

A team of two arrived well within the time window provided. I had understood from another review that they would empty the refrigerator but they called about 10 minutes before they arrived and asked that I begin clearing the refrigerator, which I did. When they arrived, they pulled the refrigerator was out and took off a back panel to clean the coils. Each shelf was pulled out and cleaned in the sink (they brought their own cleaning solution). The interior of the refrigerator was also cleaned. I asked to sweep up behind the refrigerator while it was pulled out, and after I did so, they wiped down the floor. I found them pleasant and efficient and they cleaned up nicely. I would definitely use them again for this service and would call them for appliance repair as well.

I had purchased a service call deal through Angie's list. The technician came to my home and got the air conditioner running, and would be back 2 days later to charge with freon. The tech arrived both days on time (2 hour window was given). I would definitely would use them again.

It went well, my mother noticed that everything in the freezer had melted and turned to water, I cleaned the coils hoping this would do the trick but a few hours later the freezer was blowing HOT air, so I called AV Appliances at 7:30 pm and asked for an appt. I was totally expecting to have to wait until the morning for the technician. He said he may be able to have someone there on an hour he would get back to me. Sure enough someone did come and inspect the refridgerator and found that the compressor was dead and that replacing it would cost over $500. The fridge was over 25 years of age so we opted to replace it instead of fix it. I would have had no problems having them fix it if that is the route we took. I would use them again.

They came out and looked at my fridge. He told me I didn't need any service on my appliance. He was very honest, nice, and pleasant. I mentioned I was looking to purchase a new stove - he gave me a few tips on what to look for. I was pleased with my experience.

Showed up when they said, offered several solutions for our problem, came back for machine when they said they would, and brought it back same day, includinng adjusting delivery time to allow me to grocery shop.
