Terrific from start to finish. AV came same day as my call, and explained the worst case scenario, but said that there were several things to check first. Took less than an hour and I'm a very satisfied customer. Made for a fine New Year send off.

He came on time. Checked my air conditioner. Gave me a price to take it out of the wall. Clean it up. Thought it was a fair price, but wasn't sure if I wanted to get a new air conditioner or not.

I called AV Appliance Service after I saw all the great reviews on Angie's List- and that they offer services on a Sunday, which is of course when I realized my fridge had stopped working. Not sure who I spoke to on the phone, but he was able to arrange for a technician to come to my rescue 2 hours from the time I had called. The coupon ($50 off GE Refrigerator repair) was a bonus too! Robert arrived at my apartment towards the beginning of the 5-7pm time window, and figured out why the refrigerator wasn't working within 10 mins. Turns out, ice was blocking the fan, so he chipped away at it, melted it, and made sure the drain wasn't blocked by dirt (which it wasn't). He had everything back to normal within an hour- was polite, helpful, and gave me additional maintenance suggestions on how to keep the fridge in good shape moving forward. Don't really have a point of reference to compare prices (never needed an appliance repaired before), but would highly recommend AV Appliance Service to anyone and will definitely call on them in the future should any other appliances need fixing!

Diagnosis and service were quick and immediate and friendly. He informed me that previous owners had installed the wrong size ignitor. He even helped me find the part number for a replacement knob, which he didn't have but told me where I could get it.

I was hoping for someone to come out on Friday 12/6, but was very doubtful given the quick turnaround. To our delight, we had a repair person at our apartment by 10:30 Friday 12/6. He evaluated the issue at hand and also provided advice with regard to other peripheral issues going on. he offered us 1/2 of replacing the computer board if we wanted to do it that day. Unfortunately, we couldn't afford to do so. We were thankful for the offer and felt no pressure at all. He replaced the fan, cleaned the unit and gave us tips on how to maintain the refrigerator/freezer going forward. Total cost was $321 less the $100 big deal, 221 including tax. I highly recommend this provider!

It was an Angie's Deal, so it was a flat rate. |My refrigerator was chronically leaking and needed to be defrosted because of ice built up in the motor in the freezer. The guy showed me how to do it myself to save me from paying for hours of labor. He also did a simple brush under the fridge to clean the coils, something that 2 other repair people from other companies had never done, and it has been at least 3 months since anything went wrong with the fridge.

Why are you asking me to rate this company 9 months after they serviced my fridge? I can't remember what we ate for breakfast.

The service was completely acceptable and they did a very good job. There were two of them and they came in and did the job. They put down some protective stuff and as far as I know did an excellent job.

It went very well. He was very nice and did a fine job. He also gave me some additional information about my refrigerator that would help it in the future.

He was prompt - actually more than prompt. I was told he couldn't get to me until tomorrow, but he took a chance and called this afternoon and said he could come up in 15 minutes. As I was home, there was no problem. He came up, immediately diagnosed the problem, had the part on hand and replaced the defective part. The entire repair took less than 30 minutes. He also fixed another relay that someone had placed incorrectly. I couldn't be happier. I am a very satisfied customer and intend to use AV Appliance Service in the future for other needed repairs. However, the cost was quite pricey. The actual part was not that expensive. The cost of the actual part was about $65. Therefore, I paid approximately $200 (actually $180 with the $20 Angie coupon discount) for the service call which lasted about 30 minutes. However, since he was so knowledgeable, had the part in hand and was able to fix it immediately, I guess I shouldn't complain about the cost of the labor...

Purchased a GE $50 coupon. Serviceman was a little difficult to contact via email and schedule. However, once we made an appointment, he arrived on time and checked the GE refrigerator as well as a Haier. He ordered a gasket for the Haier and came back 2 weeks later to install it. He told me what the issue was for the GE refrigerator (clogged drain) and what I could do to fix it. Seems honest. Didn't try to inflate the issues, con us or up-sell. Highly recommend them.

When he did arrive he was efficient in completing the agreed service.

A man came to clean my fridge. The inside is beautiful, but I had to ask him to clean the dirty handle before he left. He agreed, then said, "I'll just spray the whole outside for you," like he was doing me a favor! When he'd first told me he was finished, I walked over w/ tip in hand & opened the fridge to see the gleaming interior. I smile, turned & gave him the tip. Wasn't till I'd closed the door and stepped back that I saw the dirty handle and exterior. I wanted to s***** that tip back! He did clean the front, but after he'd left, I thought, "Uh, oh!" & checked the top of the fridge, which was still dusty. He hadn't touched it. In the future, if by "refrigerator cleaning" they mean the interior only, the company should make that clear. The worker arrived about 45 mins late, so it's possible he was cutting corners to get back on schedule. In any event, I should have been less occupied w/ stuff going on in the house and more on top of observing the job as it was being done. I thought the price was fair and would use their services again, but only if I made clear ahead of time what I expected and reviewed the work before the worker left my home.

The price that he was quoting me for a new air conditioner, I could get a much better price going elsewhere so I didn’t purchase it from him. If they wanna sell an A/C, they really need to offer a price that’s much more competitive. He wanted to sell me an A/C for over $700. I ended up spending a couple hundred dollars less.I didn't have a problem with the price of him coming out and taking a look at the air conditioner.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it worked out poorly. They seemed to be trying to get me to sign on for a major overhaul. I subsequently had that air conditioner checked and the problem was simply a loose piece in the air conditioner. They wanted to replace the Freon, etc., etc.. and do a major overhaul. I did not trust their judgement. They came within a week after I purchased the Big Deal.

It went well, technician on time. Replace immediately..Only concern tech misplaced screw that tighten gas. It took about 40 minutes to find. If had not found would have had to shut gas off in kitchen completely.

Refrigerator started making unusual noises. Called AV at 10am. They said they would come between 12-3 (same day!). showed promptly at noon. Intelligent and pleasant serviceman Robert, listened to the noise, replaced the fan, problem solved. Out the door at 12:15. But before he left, without being asked, he took out an under-refrigerator sweeping tool and pulled out a few dust-bunnies. We're marking A for Amazed on every count.

It was Mother's day and my refrigerator couldn't keep the right temperature so I searched for a local service company in New York city and found AV Applicance. I left a message and was surprised when I was promptly called back by the owner of the AV (whose name I can't remember) within the hour and an appointment was made for a couple of hours later. He arrived at the appointed time and we discussed what was going on with my refrigerator. His assessment was that there was a faulty thermostat and went about getting to it behind the back panel in my freezer. He tested what was there and replaced it with a new one which he had on hand. Under an hour he had my refrigerator back running as good as new. I was grateful for the great work done that day.

AC still had moldy smell when returned. Fins on rear of unit were bent and not repaired.

Quoted me &60 for service call on the phone and then charged $80. My main cold water valve leaks when he left- he had not leaked before he arrive

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was very effective. They were very good.

It took a while to schedule which is why I gave a B rating for responsiveness. After I purchased the Angie's list coupon. I called him to schedule the refrigerator cleaning. He took my name and number and never called me back. After a few weeks, I called again and we scheduled the cleaning. He was prompt and did a fine job.

Provider was friendly and responsive but seemed new at the business - not yet totally professional. I thought the fee was a bit high for a refrigerator cleaning that didn't include the back of the refrigerator and took less than an hour. Provider was helpful in finding out where I could get a replacement for the plastic tray that covers the vegetable drawer at the bottom of the refrigerator. Though he failed to follow up without my phoning him several weeks later to remind him about the information he said he'd supply.

Fabulous. Showed up on time, professional, looked at both units in a matter of minutes, very clear and quick.
