The service worked out good. The big deal was for $30, and we paid an additional $200.

Our Maytag refrigerator is only 4-5 years old. I certainly didn't think it was old enough to start having problems already. The refrigerator and freezer were losing their cooling / freezing ability. Turning down the temp did nothing. My wife noticed the vents in the back of the freezer were freezing over. This is supposed to be a frost free unit. We went through the ritual of pulling out the fridge to be able to vacuum out the dust that may be blocking the coils and also taking the hairdryer to the vents to defrost the unit. It would return to cool for a short time then freeze again. This ritual was done several times with no great results. Finally, I got on Angie's list and decided to try Robert of AV Appliance. First off he was one of very few who had emergency service and I called him on a Sunday when everybody is closed. Although he tried to figure a time to come out, I told him it wasn't a real emergency, I could wait till Monday. Monday came and Robert showed up way early from our scheduled appointment, thank god my wife was home. Anyway, Robert diagnosed the fridge had a bad control board and had to be replaced. I didn't even know a fridge had one of those. Robert needed to order the part but said he would be back the next day to finish the repair. He came back the next day during his scheduled appointment, replaced the control board, opened the back panel behind the freezer and defrosted the coils. The fridge is working great at the moment, hopefully the control board solves the issue. Time will tell. I had no issues or problems with Robert. He's a nice guy, comes in and does his work and leaves. Do I wish the cost was a little less? Sure, who wouldn't. I don't know how much a control board costs but I was tired of trying to fix this myself and Maytag is not very helpful on telling you how to disassemble their refrigerators. So I guess it was worth the price just to be done with the problem.

Robert was a pleasure to have as a contractor to fix my oven. He was extremely professional, punctual, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. Even through the parts for the work he did for me were very expensive, after speaking to him about it, it made sense to go ahead with the repair, rather than buy a new comparable oven for $1500+ dollars.

Av Appliance called me in a timely manner. They asked questions about age of stove letting me know they were in the Bronx so didn't want to come out so far if couldn't get parts . I got back to them with stove model information and pictures. They told me probably didn't make sense to repair because an old stove and would be hundreds of dollars. I asked if they would let Angie's know that stove not repaired. Said they would. I contacted Angie's when never got a refund. I do not know the last contact but indicated 4/30/ 14 because could not send this form without entering a date

Very polite and professional. I mentioned that I planned on purchasing a new oven in the future and he said I had a good brand and although old, I would not get the same combination as I have now.

Came same day and diagnosed problem, came back on a Saturday morning to install the new part and complete the repair.

Within the Hour Robert showed up. He called when he was at my door step. Came up and I had already taken out most of the units. As I had tried to diagnose myself. His immediate thought was that it could be the relay, which is concurrent with what he said on the phone. Replaced the relay and overload switch and immediately the Compressor turned on. Asked him to return the items back as they were. Agreed and I paid for the service.

It went well. Vendor was prompt in all respects, professional in his work and answered all questions I had about the problem and its solution. Cost a boat load less than a new refrigerator.

AV had a coupon and was able to come quickly and identify the problem and replace the part within two days. The same technician came both times avoiding having any communication issues. They honored the coupon with no question. They arrived at the early end of the window and were very professional

Robert got my 10 year old fridge working like new. Would highly recommend him for any applieance repairs

Everything turned out well. Scheduling was easy, the technician showed on time, and the work was done satisfactorily. I did pay a bit more however due to a replacement part's cost.

We had a very good experience with him. The guy was so good. He was prompt, articulate and hard working. He actually went to get the part up in Yonkers and then came back and installed it that day because he knew it was important to us. He could have put it off a day and probably gone off at us. He got someone else to get the part, came back and fixed it, so he worked within our need which was good. He definitely was very experienced.

It went fine, but I guess I felt mislead about the price. I paid the $30 for the original fee and then had to pay $170 for the ignition switch. There was no reason for me to have paid the $30. Any repair person could have fixed it probably for $170. What was the $30 for?

He could do nothing to fix it as the part we need is not available from his distributor. He said we have to call Thermador directly and get an authorized repair person over to fix it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a waster of time and money but they were very professional and punctual.

I didn't use the deal. I ended up fixing my fridge myself and got this refunded. Their emails were fine.

ghly. I found this service through Anjie's big deal and paid $30 for it. Appointment was scheduled promptly. Technician arrived on time, diagnosed problem and performed repair in one visit. He was very good and explained everything thoroughly. I would use this service again. My only issue is that I do not know if this was much of a deal. Technician was here for 1/2 hour, replaced part, and charged $170 in addition to the $30 big deal fee. Overall though I would rather pay a little extra for a "good"repair.

My husband called last night when it became clear the refrigerator was joining the freezer in not working. We had to throw out loads of food. Robert and his assistant came in the time range they gave us. They immediately pulled the unit out, and examined several parts both inside and in the back. He told us he was 90% sure it was the relay/overload, and how much the part would cost. We said to go ahead and do the replacement. He did and the unit came back to life. They replaced the unit, cleaned up, asked for the Angie's coupon, took our credit card info and were on their way.

Robert came, he saw, returned and in less than 24 hours he conquered the problem. I had my refrigerator back! This is father/son business is a real find in NYC, especially for appliance repair. My 6.5 year old GE refrigerator started making a constant loud noise from the fan and the expensive "frost-free" feature had really broken down. I thought I was on the road to a new refrigerator, until Robert looked at it. He gave me an estimate within a day of my request. Came back the next day with his dad who together decided I didn't need as much as they estimated and within one hour I had everything back in the freezer. But, that's not all. They even cleaned up the dust from behind and on top of this built in unit that doesn't come out of hiding very often. This professional team is one I want to shout about from the rooftops. Absolutely wonderful, efficient and belong on a JD Power list of small businesses.

Initially we bought the deal on Wednesday 4/2 to have the problem diagnosed. When I bought it I got an option to select preferred service dates. We needed them to come on Saturday (4/5) because we work all week and aren't home until late in the evenings but it wasn't giving me the option to select Saturday although they list as having Saturday hours on their website. We sent them an email to this effect and they emailed us back asking for our number to contact us and and figure something out. We emailed them the number but didn't hear back right away. We called their office on Friday to find out if they would be able to come the next day and they said they had us scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Good thing we called. Robert was great! He arriving when he said he would and analyzed everything, even showed us how to use the broiler feature on the stove which we didn't even know we had! He had the part needed to fix the oven and quoted the cost of the part and additional labor at $160 plus tax. He got the oven working again in about 20 minutes. The price was a little steep given how quick the repair was but weighed against the alternative option of researching it ourselves, printing a manual online, ordering a part, waiting for it to be delivered and then attempting the fix this ourselves was more time than we had to spare so I say money well spent. Our experience was positive and Robert was able to fix the oven and save my son's birthday party which would have had no cupcakes. Thanks!

Crew was on-time and professional. Service was fair and complete although, after seeing it performed, I'm not sure that I would pay for it again and instead would just do it myself. I actually had to bring out my own vacuum cleaner for them to use for the dust behind/underneath the fridge. Overall, the experience was good.

I think he was ok. I was expecting more than that. He and his wife came and cleaned the fridge. He then tested a few controls. He told certain things and that he does not go behind the equipment; into the actual panel to check for anything additional unless I have a problem. It was just servicing. I think they did more of a cleaning job. He tested and told that everything was working fine. To be honest, I didn’t have a problem with it. They were friendly. They were very quick which was good. I did not have any issues with my equipment. So it didn’t matter to me who I have. Since I live in Scarsdale everything is more expensive. I am in a new house. I just wanted to ensure the fridge was fine. It’s a sub-deal fridge and it was extremely high end appliance. It really doesn’t need too much of maintenance. I was just taking a preventive measure. It was a big deal purchase. I didn’t have to pay anything more. I think the pricing was ok. His wife came, removed everything and cleaned the fridge for me. They came on time and did everything. Their professionalism was ok. I don’t think he is equipped to do major work.

Technician came and informed us of the part that we needed. He told us the cost, how he could repair stove with part, how long it would take and where we could find a new stove if necessary. The technician was truly appreciated.

They were fabulous. They were able to come out the next day that I had called. There was one technician that analyzed everything. There were two people here to do the installation. He needed to get a part and they were able to come back the same day to repair the oven. My experience was positive and they were able to save my stove.

It went great ( or so I thought) I called I got an immediate response, there was diligent follow up, two men came to my apartment, told me the issue and the cost and that a part had to be ordered. It was great... Unfortunately in the process of fixing my Washing machine they disconnect the dryer hose. So now I need to find someone to reconnect it so that my Dryer is functional again. Its just a bit frustrating, To have fixed one problem only to have the fix create another problem. But overall They were on time and consistent......
