Vandermark & Son Painting

If you need a professional to paint your house, hire Kirk Vandermark, and you will be extremely pleased with the results. I have a house that is 14 years old, 2300 square feet, and still had the original exterior paint. It was in desperate need if painting. The wood had become dry and the paint was peeling off in the areas directly exposed to the sun. I knew that this was going to be a major project. In addition to a paint job, I also needed to have some of the wood trim replaced, caulking for the windows and other areas in the siding, as well as additional minor repair work all around. Knowing that I needed an expert painter with carpentry and handy man skills I used Angie's List to provide me with information regarding painting companies in my area. I ended up choosing five painters and proceeded to get estimates and referrals from their customers. I ended up choosing Kirk Vandermark for the job. Kirk provided me with a prompt estimate, and spent a good deal of time walking around the house and explaining what work would be required in addition to the painting. From project start to finish, Kirk was extremely professional and informative. He would respond promptly to my phone calls and text messages, and always explained everything clearly. My entire house was pressure washed. All warped and split trim was replaced, and Kirk rebuilt portions of the wood fencing surrounding my front door entry deck. Kirk used excellent material, and matched the colors of the house, trim, and accent very well. The house was completely primed by spraying, and all seams were caulked. The second coat of paint was applied by roller and brush. My front door entry deck was stained with weatherproofing stain (this was not included in the original estimate, but Kirk did it anyway). Kirk also replaced the external lighting fixtures for me with new lights that I purchased. Kirk's entire crew conducted themselves in exactly the same way that Kirk did. They were extremely professional, courteous, friendly, and always ready to explain what they were doing. It was a pleasure interacting with them. Kirk and his entire crew take pride in their work, and the end result shows it. Kirk finished the project on time and on budget. When the project was completed, my house looked brand new. I am so pleased with the way Kirk painted my house that not only will I use him for any additional painting that I may need, exterior or interior, but I will also be first in line to recommend him to anyone looking for a professional painting company. They had painted my house several months prior and I had some work on the fences and the deck that I wanted to have them do after seeing the stellar non-painting carpentry type work they had done in addition on the previous job. Before they came back, we had a big windstorm and in addition to the smaller section of picket fence I wanted repaired, another large section was blown down. So, I had them repair that as well. The fence was then stained to match the previous work done when the house was painted. Kirk and Company also did repair work on my wooden deck, stained it, and replaced a rotten wood path from my concrete patio to the wooden deck with nicely executed pavers. Again, excellent, courteous, extensive work at reasonable price for the amount done. I will be having them back as the restoration work on the house continues!

The project proceeded quickly and professionally. I could not be happier with the speed, quailty and end result. I would highly recommend Vandermark Painting.

Working ten to twelve hours every day, seven days a week (no kidding!) they completed the entire job in two weeks. That was all three weeks ago as I write this, and I continue to be impressed with the quality of their work. The house looks like a brand new home inside with a lovely "Ivorie" color throughout accented by a lighter color trim. Prior to selecting Vandermark & Son I did the right thing and got three bids. Theirs was not the lowest, but it wasn't the highest either and I was more concerned with doing a quality job than saving a few dollars. Looking at previous Angie's list reviews I selected them, and was glad that I did. I got a top quality job at a reasonable price. I was happy enough, in fact, that I plan to bring them back in the spring to do my house exterior.

We had Vandermark & Son do the painting in our sunroom first prior to asking them to do the exterior of our house. Since we were so pleased with Kirk, his crew, and the final results of the room, we knew that we had our painter for the large job of painting our 4,300 square foot home. First of all, Kirk was always quick in responding to my phone calls and always did what he said he was going to do. He was also quite consistent and always had a positive attitude towards any additional requests that we had, which were a few. The walls were very dry, but the workers were persistent in making sure that the surface was correct before beginning the actual painting. We appreciate that care, for it makes an enormous difference in the longtime durability of the paint-job. Caulking was done extensively also. I must say that no one has ever put in this much time and effort into the preparation of the surface as they did. The work areas were alway kept in meticulous condition, and therefore were also left in good condition on a daily basis. Kirk is a family man and takes pride in his work. I have no hesitation in recommending him for your next large job, small job, exterior painting or interior painting.

Kirk and his crew were very efficient, always neat, and worked with perfection. The paint lines are straight and clean, and the cement floor now looks fabulous. He and his crew were very respectable in our home and were also very personable. The work was done to our greatest satisfaction and we now confidently can say that we have a painter for all of our needs. More interior work for us by Vandermark & Son Painting is in the future, for sure. He comes highly recommended by us, and we had no doubts when we asked him to paint our 4,300 square foot home exterior also.

Even though we had used Mr. Vandermark before on painting the exterior of my law office building as well as my wife's house, and even though the quality of his work on the prior job was excellent and he gave us the best price, we put both new jobs out for bid to a few painting companies. As I expected, Mr. Vandermark came back with the best bid. He had a crew of two other painters help him do (a) the interior of the building and (b) our Lake Tahoe home. Mr. Vandermark was on both jobs the whole time, doing much of the painting himself AND making sure the other painters were doing quality work. We were so very impressed with the quality of his company's work on both projects. He just does outstanding work. Having worked with at least 7 painting contractors over the last 20 years, there is absolutely none better than Vandermark and sons. His reputation is stellar. He is honest. He hires excellent painters to help him do his job. He finishes the job on time and at the lowest price. Not only that, because our law office is very busy, he took pains to TIME his and his employees' painting of the interior of our law office so as to be the least disruptive to our workers. I would also note that the particular attention Vandermark & Sons pays to PREPPING before PAINTING makes all the difference in the world. The prepping was incredibly thorough and the resulting paint job was superb. I would recommend Vandermark and Sons very, very highly. A+.

Went very well from start to finish-all the personnel were considerate of how I wanted the rooms painted-they listened to me,and the requests I had.

Excellent job. I called for an estimate and received a timely call back. I was kept informed of when they would be at the house, and they always arrived promptly. They pressured washed the exterior of the house. They did chalking and securing of siding as needed. They painted the siding. They taped off areas as needed. They painted the exterior trim. We have a taller than normal roof which they were able to handle quite well. They then painted the railing and steps leading to the front door. (Something they offered to do even though it wasn't in the original estimate). They are quite flexible and willing to work with you. They then moved inside to paint our interior walls. They painted the living room and hallway. They also did a really good job on the seams where the colors changed from one wall to the next wall. They covered carpets, and flooring to protect against paint drippings. They are considerate and try not to disrupt your home. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up. They even took their trash. They left the premises exactly as they found it. Would definitely hire them again.

Everything was great. Estimate was a little bit higher than some others but the house had been neglected and quite a bit of prep work was necessary. So, based on the high quality of work from other reports and the recognized need for some additional labor, it made sense and seemed actually very reasonable. Kirk was very courteous and helpful in terms of providing paint and stain samples, and seemed always on scene supervising the work and making sure I understood what was going on at each step. An additional wrinkle came up when the lattice over the deck outside proved to have rotten post supports, and they proved adept at doing the (rather extensive) repair work on the lattice before painting it. That came to some more money of course but having dealt with other contractors on labor doing various other things, I am positive that I actually saved significant money by having Kirk do it rather than a separate contractor. It couldn't have been a better overall experience. I'm planning to have them repair and refinish my wood deck at the side as well.

They did a fabulous job: prompt, professional, courteous, and clean. The result looks just great. They delivered on time and on estimate. We asked them to do few extra things, and they did them with a smile for a very reasonable charge. Could not be more pleased. I picked this company based on the reports about it here on Angie's List, their estimate, and how well they responded and spoke with us during the estimating phase. I am glad I did.

After I emailed with several questions regarding materials and insurance, Kirk rescended his quotation, stating his calendar for September had "filled up". I found this to be a bit strange in the course of one week, especially in light of the fact that the work could be scheduled later if he had maintained an interest. To be fair, the contractors I've contacted in my area tend to be rather casual about such things as insurance coverage and scope of work specifications, start dates and completion periods. So a "C" rating is above average from my experience.

Called Kirk based on reviews on Angie's list. He showed up early (which pleasantly surprised me), and gave me a quote right away (within a few hours). He was able to work us in and started the next day. I have had several painters and he and his crew are by far the most professional, friendly, and skilled group with which I have ever worked. Some highlights- he actually matched our paint color - we have white walls (as we all know there are many), and he actually matched it; he recommended a paint product that made our bookcases look like furniture (they look superb!); they sanded down the shelves and there was NO dust ANYWHERE when they left; I had cleared the area before they came and they took the time to hang everything back up from the pile I had next to the door (and I didn't even ask - it was wonderful!); and they never once commented on the fact that we had tried to paint them first and just couldn't get it right (an A+ in my book). His crew was precisely on time each morning, the taping of the room was meticulous, the clean up was superb, and they were very friendly offering us "viewing" whenever we wandered by and showing us the process. Would definitely hire them again. A+

I did go with a different company that I 'clicked' with even thou Kirk's quote was less.

This was by far the best painting team I have ever hired! Kirk arrived to complete an estimate 20 minutes after I called. He and his team arrived on time each day and they utilized every minute that they were there. They were friendly and professional, and receptive to doing all of the "extras" I asked for, such as installing a new side door into the garage for only the cost of the door. I was most impressed by the fact that they hand rolled the paint onto the interior walls rather than spray, which prevented the mistake of "over spray." The borders between the ceiling and walls are neat and clean. They came in right on budget and did not charge me any extra when the job was completed. I appreciate their professionalism, punctuality, and honesty. I will definitely be hiring them for my next job!

I am a very difficult person to please and demand any work done on my house must meet my standards. The trim on the house and the deck needed painting. I called Kirk Vandermark for an estimate which he very promptly gave me and his was the lowest of the two that I got. He and his crew did an exceptional job of scraping, caulking and painting which easily met my standards. He is definitely a professional and very friendly and courteous. He was on time and completed the work when he said it would be done. They did a very thorough job of cleanup. I would definitely recommend him to anyone as he and his crew are true professionals.

It went very well. They showed up on time worked a full day and put things away at the end of each day. They were very courteous and and kept us informed as to what was to been done each day what time they would arrive and approximately what time they would leave. If they found something that need repaired they did it and let us know it was needed and done. They went far beyond what we had expected.

Kirk provided the labor and my wife and I provided the paint. He and his crew did a fabulous job and went the extra mile, in preparing, painting and caulking. The job they did painting the trim was excellent. They were on time, courteous and very careful in protecting our landscaping, deck and other items that were not to be painted. I would hire them again.

We needed a complete interior repaint of a condo and needed it done pretty quick. Kirk was extremely responsive to all of our needs, and got the job done by the deadline. He even put in a couple of 12-hour days (of practically non-stop painting) in order to get the job done by the deadline! He was a pleasure to deal with at all phases of the job. We couldn't have asked for a better painter than Kirk Vandermark! We gave 'straight A's' in our evaluation because it was completely deserved: The price, quality of work, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism provided were all Excellent!

The process was great. Kirk brought two helpers with him everything went very well. They finished when they said they would. They were pleasant, courteous, and above all professional and prompt. They worked hard and our home looks great!

The owner was prompt in responding to my request for a quote, completed the work in the time he estimated, and his staff were all professional and courteous. It was overall a very good experience. They not only did a great job of painting, but left the yard and walkway spotless after cleaning up. I would highly recommend this company.

Went fine overall, some delays due to the weather, but that was not painter's fault.

Kirk responded quietly to my inquiry for an estimate. He arrived at the prearranged time(unlike Best Painting and Mr.Fix-It who did not show up at all). He and his assistant started the job earlier than scheduled; and finished in just over two days. I was very satisfied with the result which made the cost more bearable. Kirk was very professional and easy to work with. I will use his services again. I can strongly recommend Vandermark and Son Painting, Inc.

Kirk and his crew did a great job on my house. I feel like the house was a difficult job, lots of different angles and levels, trim and surfaces. Lots of prep and detail. This crew was very professional, showed up everyday and worked hard. From prep, to paint, to cleanup, Kirk did a solid job. I have already recommened him to a couple of neighbors who liked the paint job. Kirk wont be the lowest bid, but based on a good honest quality job, you will get your money's worth. This is no blow and go one coat outfit.
