Vandermark & Son Painting

Very well, really glad he brought the paint samples for me to try before huge mistakes were made. He and his crew did a good job and were a pleasure to work with.

Overall completed job looks good. Kirk (owner) and his guys are laid back and easy to work with., however, I had to stay on top of them in a couple areas. My job was quoted as a one week job. It took two, including Saturdays. Most days there was only one guy and a few of those days he was only there 1/2 day. He said he was working on another site too. Monday and Tuesday of the second week, no one showed up. I called Kirk to find out what was up and he said one was sick and another one had car problems. I had to call him. He didn't call me first. I had them replace a section of panel (in the original quote) and the worker did not line up the pattern with the existing pieces. I had to have Kirk come over and he agreed to get another new piece and hang it correctly. The prep and caulk did not go as I expected. They prepped, caulked, painted in sections, not totally prepped and caulked before they started to paint. I came home one day to find the front of the house painted and saw air/gaps between the horizontal siding pieces. I had to call Kirk to come over and he said to caulk that much it would be an additional cost. I paid an additional $250 for the caulking and another coat of paint. The original quote just said prep, caulk. It was not specific. I suggest you get VERY specific with any contractor you use and get it in writing. They took all the outdoor lighting fixtures down so they could paint. They put them all back up, but did not seal them with a silicone seal. I brought that up to Kirk and he said I had to do that. Again, try to ask about every aspect of the job before they start.

Went great, Kirk and his team had never used the Rustoleum Restore before. He took the time to research and learn about the application. Had a few bumps in the road but he and his team made it right. The stain job on the deck cover and side railing look beautiful. All looks wonderful and Kirk and his team were so nice to work with. We are very happy and will use Vandermark Painting again.

Vandermark & Son Painting did an exceptional job on my house. The cost included some extensive stucco repair, wooden stairs refinishing and some fence painting plus all materials. Kirk was exceptional with his communication from the quote to the final inspection. He and his crew was outstanding both in the quality of their work but also in their friendliness & professionalism. The site was kept very clean throughout the several day project and the final cleanup was great. They were very happy to work around the schedules of both my wife (night shift) and me (day shift). I am very satisfied with their work and I have already scheduled interior painting for later this year. I highly reccomend Vandermark & Son Painting.

My home was built in 1990, is about 1975 sq. ft., a 2-story, and I am the original owner. The home exterior had only been repainted one time since it was built, so it was in great need of painting - especially the trim, which was incredilby dry and peeling. Kirk was extremely friendly, with a positive attitude - a joy with whom to work. And his 2 helpers were also friendly, smiling, and noticeably enjoyed their work. They have been with Kirk for a long time, which speaks for itself. Kirk did most of the prep work himself, which allowed him to identify problem areas, and be directly aware of what was needed. The quality started with all the preparation, which created a good foundation for the work that followed. The windows, fixtures, and surrounding ground areas were well protected. I would not have known that a satin finish could be used on a house, until it was explained that it will hold up longer, take the elements better, and be easier to clean. It is absolutely beautiful. When my home was finished, it was the talk of the neighborhood. All my neighbors, and anyone walking by, raved about the work. Many neighbors stopped to get one of Kirk's business cards. Kirk does other work as well, including interior painting, drywall work, and popcorn ceiling removal - which is best done during months that he is not busy with the outdoor work. I already have plans for multiple future indoor projects for him.

I was very satisfied with the work done by Kirk and his team. I would definitely hire them again. A friend has already scheduled them to work on her home.

I met with Kirk Vandermark two weeks earlier to obtain an estimate of the work I wanted done. He did request a small deposit at the conclusion of our agreement and though we had one reschedule, it wasn't a problem. Kirk arrived at the home just slightly earlier than the set time. His crew was thorough and meticulous and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had even painted some of the borders along the cabinets and a garage shelf. I was very impressed with his honesty, proficiency and professionalism and would gladly recommend Vandermark & Son Painting to others.

Painters showed-up when scheduled and finished by the end of the day. They did very thorough prep work (the part that counts!).

HOA insisted the house be re-painted, since I did not get permission ahead of time, and chose an "unsuitable" color. So, Vandermark Painting actually painted my house twice, tho the first time was only 1 coat, thank goodness. I was too upset to select a color, so Mr. Vandermark selected 5 shades for me to chose from. Everything went well other than the HOA kerfluffle. I DID leave a positive review at the time, I don't know what happened to it.

Quick response; reasonably pricing for the amount of work to do; excellent preparation, priming, painting, and follow-up; and outstanding communication on all phases of the job. Wow! I forgot there are still professionals like this.

These projects went very well, and would recommend him and his crew. They were professional every time and worked extremely well together.

My house was in bad shape..should have probably been painted 5 years ago! Kirk was prompt for estimates and finished the project in a timely fashion. His help was also dependable and pleasant to work with. It was apparent that his workers had worked with him for awhile as they too were prompt and all seemed to work well together. They worked weekends in order to get the job done. The window trim is all stained wood and required a lot of tedious work. The final result was fabulous. When they were done with the job everything was left clean...no scattered paint anywhere, trash, lunch debris, etc as I have seen with other people that have done work for me. I was totally satisfied. I have a detached garage that I could not afford to paint at this time; however I will definitely have Kirk and his crew back in the spring to paint the detached garage.

Kirk doesn't give detailed written bids, but gives verbal detailed quotes. He answers all questions and concerns and is true to his word. He and his crew always returned calls promptly, started work on time and did a very careful and thorough job. The job involved scraping, prepping and painting some very old southern exposure eaves, as well as having to paint up high. We're very happy with how the building looks now!

From beginning to end Kirk was great about communicating; showed up when he said they would or called if there would be any delay. The house is a 27 year old tract home that hadn't been painted in 13 years and looked it. It took a great deal of scraping prepping which Kirk worked on alone the first 3 days. He offered to work through the weekend even though one guy would be out of town but I asked them to come back Monday & take all the time they needed. Monday Saul & Delfino showed up too, & continued the prepping and also did the painting. These guys really know their job and were very approachable with questions I had and helpful with last-minute decisions. The paint job turned out SWEET! My friends across the street had been watching to make sure they did everything right and told me they'd sprayed it & rolled it like it should be done. When the painters left my friends came over and checked it out up close and gave it the thumbs up too. I had asked for bids through Angies list from 3 contractors other than Kirk a week before. Due to a review that said the reviewer got no response at all from Vandermark I thought he was probably too busy so I didn't persue them. Only one painter responded that afternoon and came the next day to give an estimate. He is also very highly rated on here and I was very inclined to hire him but friends advised to get more bids first. The 2 other contractors I attempted to contact had only a few reviews here but they were favorable and these contractors also have impressive websites. When Kirk responded quickly and came in with a lower bid than the first guy I had to go with him. No regrets at all. These guys will take good care of your piddly old tract house & make you love it again.

I could not be happier with the paint job. They also removed and reinstalled lighting fixtures and took away old and broken gutters. Wow!

. Mr. Vandermark answered my request for an estimate quickly. He arrived precisely when he said he would. We asked for estimates on more than one area of the house which he provided separately for our benefit. Mr. Vandermark discussed the amount of paint he would need, offered to pick it up for me if I wanted but left that choice to me. I felt very comfortable talking with him about what we wanted to see. At different stages of completion he checked in to see that we were happy with the color, talked about the need to cover the house well since it was so dry, even, took down some wasp nests for us. Mr. Vancermark's crew asked if they could come early and arrived at 7 AM, working until nearly 6 pm, stopping only for water and a light lunch. They were always pleasant and kept an eye out for our children if they escaped into the back yard (as 3 year olds will do!). Once the job was finished, the crew cleaned up quickly. We love our the house and it took a huge burden off our minds to have it done and looking very professional. Our house wasnt in great shape so it took a little more paint than originally estimated, but it is well-covered (MUCH BETTER than it had been painted orignally). Good job, lovely neat work, pleasant people. Happy family!

I received a call back from (I assume the owner) who said he would be out to give me an estimate the following week as he was busy in the opposite side of town. We agreed he would come out on Mon, Tuesday at the and then hung up without even asking for my address. I figured I would hear back from him prior to the day but no follow up call and he never showed up. No call, no message explaining him not showing up !!!! I wasted an entire week waiting for someone that was rated the highest here on Angie's List.

I contacted Kirk Vandermark in the Fall of 2011 to discuss painting our house and to get a quote. The bid was lower than I had expected. Based on both our schedules and the onset of freezing weather, we decided to hold off until the Spring of 2012. We got back in touch in early May and set a time to do the work. Kirk arrived right on time the first day and later introduced me to the crew that he has working for him. The job was going to take a week to 10 days and we discussed their work schedule so I could make sure they had access each day. As the job began, Kirk felt he going to need to do a lot more replacement of old trim than he had originally thought. I agreed. After I saw all the additional work he had found to be necessary, I was pretty sure I was going to end of paying more than the original figure. But, Kirk stuck to the original bid. The job took about 2 more days than scheduled, due to the extra repairs needed. But, when it was done, our house looked brand new. The crew was friendly and they were hard workers. When they left each day, everything was put away and they left the work area clean. Kirk did a better job than I had expected and better than the original painter did when the house was built. It was a great experience overall and Kirk was a pleasure to work with.
