Scott sold me with his Midwest (Wisconsin) charm, and although he was more expensive we decided to use him because his ability to relfect what we had described we wanted in his architectural drawing was far superior to the other firms we had considered. That said, the love affair stopped there. When we signed the contract to have him do the work he told us that they would be ready for install in 2-3 weeks. 6 weeks later I called to find out when they would be installing and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. Magically a week later when I called to check in, he changed his tune and acted as if we hadn't had the conversation a week prior and was anxious to install. What he promised to take a half day turned into parts of 5 days. I could have looked past most of this non-sense, but the the one thing I really wanted and repeatedly made sure he understood was to have an infrared eye installed so that we could store the audio/visual components in the cabinets and have them hidden. Once the majority of the install was complete, Scott asked for a check and told me to hold back $300 for the infrared eye. Little did I know, that would be the last time I ever talked to Scott. Despite multiple attempts to contact him and much lip service from his secretary (I'm sure his wife loves that moniker) I never heard back from him. All in all, the product was pretty good and I could be giving him an "A" rating despite him being at the high end of the estimates that we received. However, due to the poor installation time estimate, his not listening to my #1 desire and his lack of professionalism in ignoring my calls/messages I should probably be giving him "F"s across the board. That said, I have chosen to be more objective and be fair in my ratings as opposed to leaving him in the dust as he did to me.

The crew started one day later than what we were told. No problem, stuff happens. They told us that they'd start the work day at 8am the following day. The work crew would show up each they worked between anywhere from 9am to 2pm - we would never know when they were going to show, or how many would show up. Most days it was just one guy. Sometimes they would leave after a couple of hours work, other times they'd show up at 2pm and work until 8pm. Scott would never return our phone calls. He disappeared and we were told by the one person who speak english that "he was sorry, and that Scott tends to do this..." The crew left our house looking like a construction worksite, inside and outside, and my wife spent hours cleaning up after them each night. Some days, they would not bother to show up at all, and there was no phone call informing us of such. Towards the end of our nightmare, the crew was within a day or two of completion, and starting to make progress. Then, another salesman showed up on site (at our home) and pulled the crew off our job for another job. The place was a mess and we never saw the crew again until after Thanksgiving, six days later. The mess they left was unbelievable. To add insult to injury, toward the completion of the job, I inspected the wood they were using. We contracted for solid cherry wood and paid top price to get it. I discovered that they had substituted with a cherry veneer plywood (called Gold Bond), and a beechwood veneer. I confirmed with an outside company of the deception. The outcome of the work was what I would have expected for a $5,000 job, but nowhere what we had expected. To boot, the sub-contractors that came on site complained that Scott never paid them, and in order to complete some portions of the job, they required we pay them directly. This was truly the most unprofessional, nightmarish home project we have ever been involved with. Buyer beware of this company.
Description of Work: they were contracted to build out/resurface an existing entertainment wall unit. we contracted to have the wall unit built in solid cherry wood for an additional, much higher cost. it was promised, in writing, to be completed prior to thanksgiving in time for the arrival of a house full of family.
