Description of Work: Replaced transmission in my 2003 Acura MDX. The Acura transmission failure was due to one of Honda's few design flaws, and a very expensive one! Asian Imports eat the dealer repair price by $1000. I am not completely sure of the date, because I have since sold the vehicle, and gave all the service records to the new owner. This is why I did not reply to earlier requests for comments on this provider, but they are indeed due a positive evaluation.

Description of Work: When I first called Asian Imports (AI) and described how the gas mileage had gone from about 20mpg to less than 15mpg and the the car's poor performance, the person on the phone indicated they could not be of help or ask any follow up questions. Instead he told me that gas mileage can vary by how much gas one puts in (!). I tried to tell him that I carefully and repeatedly calculated the gas mileage by dividing the total miles driven since the last fill up (via the trip odometer) by the amount of gas put in, so this can be carefully calculated as well as that my style of driving and use had not changed. He proceeded to tell me more reasons they could not be of help with that problem. With a brand new customer, it is not a good idea to tell them what the company cannot do and consistently dispute what the customer is saying. If the AI rep had asked me a few questions instead, such has the power decreased, maybe that would have helped. In any case, AI checked the car over and changed the oil. A week later the check engine indicator light went on and I took the car back to AI. The problem was directly related to the drop in gas mileage and the vehicle's poor performance. I was told they do not try to diagnose problems based on customer report but only diagnose when the check engine light goes on. I had to wonder if they had listened and hooked up the car to the diagnostic machine, would it have shown the fuel-related device was about to go? With that said, AI fixed the problem promptly and the car has run great since then. Because of AI's good reputation on AL, I will give AI another try in the future .

Description of Work: i took my car into this shop because i keep hearing this funny noise that only came on when it is really hot outside and lasts only for a split second. i also needed an oil change. i made appt, they got me right in, checked for any suspecious leaks, or abnormal sounds, changed my oil, all under 45 mins! they only charged me for the oil change because they said they can't find anything and valued me as a returning customer. THAT is what i call superior service.

Description of Work: This is how you get an honest reputation. I'd had some on-again/off-again strange break noises. It showed up immediately after the 30k check up at the Toyota service center on Sahara. So I took the car back and the people there said I needed new break pads and some work on the rotors. The situation just seemed sort of funny. I always feel like these people at Toyota are trying to get me to pay for work that is not under warranty. I called Tim at Asian Imports Auto and asked for a quote on the break pad work. It came in around the same as the Toyota dealership, so I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. Asian Imports took me right away the next morning. They couldn't identify the noise (comes and goes at random times) but they measured the break pads and said that I had a good 40% left and that there was no safety concern and no rush to get new pads. Now it could be that they just didn't want to perform the service, but I think they honestly didn't believe it was necessary at the time. Much appreciated. They'll continue to get my non-warranty business and maybe more if I get fed up with the dealerships.

 + -1 moreHave taken 3 cars to Asian Imports consistently for 4 years and always pleased with their service, pricing, etc. Professional over the phone and in person. Fast. Honest re: pricing and problem. Toyota Prius: car would not start, had error message indicating possible problem with parking brake. They did diagnostics. Seemed to be a computer-related problem. Started after the diagnostics were run...apparently just needed to be rebooted. :-) Gave me a complete report (on paper) from the diagnostics. Said if it happens again to take the car to the dealership as it's likely a hybrid system problem that would be covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. (Talk about honest!) Also had to order new battery for key fob/clicker, as it no longer worked after this situation occurred. Couldn't install the one that came from Toyota....it was the wrong size! Recommended going to a place that sells batteries and returning and they'd install it (it is difficult if not impossible for the consumer to replace the battery).
Description of Work: Ran diagnostics to determine why car wouldn't start. Tried to start it afterward and it started. Ordered new key fob from Toyota because the old one no longer worked after this incident. Would have installed it...but it was the wrong size.

Description of Work: air conditioning not functioning properly- was told it needed freon and clean out of drain hose. after repair, air conditioning still not functioning, brought back to shop left all day, was told had a failing compressor because of bad clutch, repair cost $1250.00 no consideration for approx 280.00 spent for work they deemed necessary- took to another shop, was told clutch on compressor could be fixed - cost 100.00.

Description of Work: They checked why my car just stopped running. They found a minor problem (spacing) and they repaired it. They also repaired a chip in my window and repaired the window track. They changed my oil, too.

 + -1 moreThey had diagnosed this grease boot problem in 2009 when we had other work done (fuel injection) we didn't fix it at that time, they said it wait til we brought in the next time(which we appreciated). All the work they've done on our car is top notch, they are very professional and the garage area is clean and organized. They send reminders out for when next service is due and often have worthwhile coupons in mailers(look for them) Car has always been ready when they said it would be. We use them because they are honest and do good work!

They finished in a timely manner and I felt that they did a great job for the money. It's difficult to find a trustworthy auto shop so we will keep this one!

 + -1 moreI had gotten a diagnosis of my problem and an estimate of the repair cost from a new car dealer. I took this report to Asian Imports to get their estimate. Although their initial estimate was higher than the dealer, when told that they were higher, they offered to match the dealer's price. Upon completion, they actually charged me about 5% less than their and the dealer's estimate. I rated them a "B" for price only because it was still a lot of money. They allowed me to schedule the work for the very next day, and they provided drop off and pick up service for me. Their service manager Dan was courteous, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. Their entry/waiting room was small but clean and comfortable. All in all, this seems like a great neighborhood repair shop that knows the fine points of working on a Japanese brand car, and I will use them again.
Description of Work: My Nissan Maxima needed new ignition coils and spark plugs. They performed the work promptly, delivered the car on time, and charged me less than their estimate. The car appears to be running fine.
