ABC Locksmiths

I purchased $35 for $75 worth of mobile locksmith service. I called to schedule an appointment and I was told that the cost would be $125.00 for the locksmith to come to my home. The reason for the high cost was because my home was outside of their local service area. I questioned why was I able to purchase this voucher so far out of their service area. I thought that these issues (service area) were checked by Angie's List before services were offered to the customer. It seemed that I was mistaken. I wasted my time and money with this offer. It was not a value for me.

Everything went smoothly, locksmith was polite, professional

Work was done well. The price was much too high. I had similar work done on another house for less than $100.00. They should have informed me that they would not take a personal check or credit card. I had to eave the premises in order to get cash.

I called to make the appointment with ease. The receptionist was very nice. The first appointment had to get cancelled but we rescheduled. When they arrived for the appointment time, I showed him the adjustment that I wanted to have done. He told me that it would be an additional $100 and that the coupon only covered the service call. I have another company coming to do the work for a total of $45.00.

Though I purchased an Angie's Deal, I requested a refund due to me using another company. I did speak to them, and customer service seemed very nice. But, I did not use this company, but I'm doing this review to get Angie off my case to complet a review.

I purchased the Big Deal and then added to the Big Deal - well, I guess the Big Deal for them was to show up at a discounted rate. Then I basically gave them a scope of work to do. However, they pay their employee a certain amount and then, if the work takes longer than it's supposed to, the employee has to work on their own dime and so I ended up having to pay extra money in order to make sure that employee did what I asked him to do when he showed up, rather than the company paying the employee for the scope of the work that I basically pre-coordinated with their company to take care of on that day. Their corporate staff, who I originally coordinated with, they were helpful. However, the actual locksmith store that did the work, the office staff was indifferent and somewhat rude. And I basically asked for issues regarding performance and how come things weren't done the way that I asked, that type of thing. I would absolutely not ever use them again.

Locksmith arrived on time and was professional. Began service with explaining service but pitched an upgrade that was more expensive. I decided to have the original request of locks rekeyed. When service finished I was presented for a bill for the remainder of the service fee. I asumed the coupon bought on line was paid in full. The wording on the ad and coupon was mileading about the price. I ended paying $60+ more dollars than antisipated,

Lady on the phone was pleasant, their version of 24 hour emergency service is much different than mine. Would not even disptch somebody to look and see what was wrong.

This company provided me with excellent service. He was very knowledgeable and installed the lock in my door in no time flat. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Company service representive did an excellent job, very professional and helpful in his response to my questions. Hardware and locking technology installed seems to be very good.

Appointment was to be between 4-6 pm. Tech arrived at 6:30, he did call at 6 saying he would be late(gets points for this). The cost to me , including the coupon price was $115. Had I paid the full price as reported in the promotion, I would have paid $153. The last time I had the keys changed, about two years ago, I paid $84 by another high rated Angie's list client. Although dissapointed with the price, I was very pleased with the tech. I would recommend this company to a freind.

Was very pleased with service....cost a bit more as we had him do a few other repairs. would use again!!

They did a good job and they were prompt.

I paid $35 through Angie's List for the service charge instead of paying $75. On the receipt it states "Additional re-keying can be done for $12/lock". I was told this was a misprint by Angie's List and the re-keying would cost me $45. I was also told that Angie's List was aware of their misprint. I had the work done anyway because difference was only $33 and I told them I would discuss this with Angie's List. When the locksmith arrived I showed him the Schlage door knobs and dead bolts I previously purchased and were keyed alike. The locksmith asked me if I bought them locally and I said yes. He said that about 50 of my neighbors could have the same key as my door knobs. I believe he was trying to scare me to have him re-key all my locks which would have cost me much, much more. He later told me that Schlage had the cheapest locks I could buy. I believe he said this so I would purchase locks and dead bolts from him. I didn't! He did do a very good job installing the locks. But I had to clean up after him because there was a lot of black soot on the floor. I thought repair people were suppose to clean up after themselves. Even though I bought the coupon from ABC Locksmiths, they were located in Las Vegas. The locksmith who came to my house was Alert Lock & Key Inc. from Van Nuys, CA. I assume they contracted with them. Because they would not honor the $12 re-keying on the coupon and that the locksmith tried to scare me into spending more money, I will not use this locksmith again. Also, I would like Angie's List to reimburse me the $33 difference in the re-keying.

I bought a big deal from Angie's List. When I tried to make an appointment they told me I was out of area (which wasn't the case when I bought the deal). Angie's List reimbursed me promptly.

Job was completed very quickly and efficiently.

Overall I was pleased with everything and all the employees I dealt with were very nice and professional. The gentleman doing the work did a nice job upselling me to a better deadbolt and while overall I spent more than I was hoping, I'm pleased with the product that was put in and the quality of both the work and the new deadbolt.

The worker did not show up on time. The $27 just covered the worker to come out. All I needed done was to have a gate lock replaced. I had all the materials and just needed it put in. The price they quote was VERY high. I had someone else do the two minute job for me for cheaper.

It went well. And I have not had a problem since.

He looked at lock and said I had not given right description, and had to go back down to car. I was torn not knowing what to do, but feeling I would be more comfortable with new lock. All this time, I was getting ready to go to airport, had spent needless time waiting for him and dealing with him. He did finish by 7:30am and I was a wreck. He was not happy that he only did one lock! He charged me more than he had said on phone and with Angie's and all, I ended up paying the same I would have paid with any 24 hour locksmith and it was a horrible experience. He knew he was in control and abused it. It was kind of scary. He knew where I lived and had copies of my keys. At least he did not have both locks. I would never recommend them to anyone. PS the main number was not in Los Angeles, but they had branches here and because they were in Angie's list I trusted them.

I recently bought a condo in Henderson; there was no key for the garage door lock. I called ABC through Angies List. The tech showed up on time. I should have paid more attention to what I was buying; the deal was for the locksmith to come out, any work was not covered in what I paid for. In hindsight I paid more for the job than I should have, but that wasn't at the fault of the vendor or Angies List. Lesson learned that I need to pay more attention to the specifics on these sales/offers.
