Description of Work: We contacted John about having a new coat of stucco put on our house. He returned our call immediately, and got us in contact with Horacio, who came that day to give us a bid. John contracts out work, but we decided to go with Horacio. It took about 2 weeks overall due to high demand during the summer months, but our house looks amazing, and everyone was extremely professional-which says a lot if you are familiar with workers here in SF...thank you!

Description of Work: Mr. Hawkins came to the house to make the estimate but referred me to Dan Chavez. I paid $17,000 for a new roof. It has been leaking for the two years since it has been installed. Dan Chavez didn't show up for many months. Now that he finally did he's been unable to fix the leak. I've called Mr. Hawkins to see if he would help. I spoke to a lawyer who told me that when you make a referral in New Mexico you are responsible for the product. I told that to Mr. Hawkins. He has made excuses for the two years when I have called for help. He's been too sick, too busy, and out of town. He has said that he would call me back & he never has. I have not wanted to hire an attorney, but it looks like I will to get my new, $17,000 roof working. The ceiling in my bedroom is being destroyed. I would not hire either of them to fix anything ever.

Description of Work: I got an estimate to redo and re-tile our tub/shower. Mr. Hawkins was wonderful about walking me through what needed to be done and the materials needed. He was very prompt returning my calls every time I thought of another question. Unfortunately, I had to put this project on hold due to family health issues. I would definitely recommend Mr. Hawkins.

Description of Work: John's employee/subcontractor repaired the stucco around the rool of our home. Work was done quickly in about 2 days and quality is excellent. This is the fourth time we have made use of John's company and will continue to do so. Responsiveness is excellet and we feel well taken care of .

Description of Work: I found John Hawkins on Angie's list. I called him and he installed a gas dryer for me. He was professional, timely, and did a great job. Therefore, I had him do other work. I was new to the area and John was a godsend. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Description of Work: John and his crew have done several jobs at my house and as always he and his crew have been dilligent and respectful on getting the job done right. I just had him do a stucco job and it's flawless. As far as the negeative response left on May 2, 2011. It's clear to me that the people who left that response are sheltered closed minded Bully's and with all the positive reviews John has received In his work past and present I hope anyone in thier right mind will take the rant of nonsense that was left on May 2, 2011 with a grain of salt. John is none of those things they say. Keep going John you will always have our support.

Description of Work: John Hawkins Construction cut into the drywall and accessed a burst pipe about two weeks ago. He then replaced the pipe and out some additional insulation to prevent it from freezing again and sealed the drywall.

Description of Work: Fixed a botched job from another plumber. Fixed shower- put a new cartridge in the shower valve (that previous plumber had broken), put new flexible lines from cold/hot water to water heater , raised heater and added drain valve so it can easily be drained.

Description of Work: Repair of a leaking main for the landscaping drip, he did such a good job we then had him repair and set up two swamp coolers on our house. John also did a preliminary inspection of the house that we had thought we were going to purchase directly from the owner. He pointed out several major areas of concern that probably has saved us tens of thousands of dollars.

Description of Work: A leaking roof which seemed to be unfixable was ruining the attached portal. I had two other roofers look at the problem and they "fixed" it - first rain it was leaking again. John Hawkins came and gave the a very complete examination of the problem. He brought in his excellent roofers and a major problem was fixed quickly. I was very pleased with the whole situation and recommend John highly.

 + 0 moreMy Mom's single handle kitchen faucet failed without any warning. Since its installation several years ago the kitchen faucet had been working just fine with perhaps the normal amout of leaking around the handle's bonnet. But last Wednesday morning my Mother lifted the handle, filled a teapot, and the water would not shut off. Repeatedly moving the faucet handle back and forth to off position had no effect on the water flow, both hot and cold water continued to flow at a maximum rate. I live several states distant, but thanks to Angie's list and John Hawkins Construction we were able to restore the water supply to the rest of the house within 24 hours and by Saturday afternoon replace the kitchen faucet. Given this very short time frame I was especially pleased that John was willing to work with me over the phone to select a two handle ceramic disk replacement faucet and that he took the time to give me several updates along the way.
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen faucet and added under sink shutoff valves.

 + 8 moreI actually started with another contractor and it was a nightmare. John Hawkins came in and saved everything. Did a fantastic job! This guy understands everything about contracting and more! He can sometimes get a little impatient, but he really cares about his work and his customers. I would definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: New master bedroom, bath and breezeway. Re-did whole kitchen. New pantry matching exisiting cabinets. Brick patios-herringbone pattern. On demand hot water. New firelplace.

 + 4 moreJohn worked with me to develop new layout, he just knows what will & won't work, and (I have to admit) he was always right. John got the plumbing up to code, moved it all for the new layout. He built a fabulous shower that will NEVER leak, he did it right. The tile work is beautiful in the shower and the rest of the bath. We wanted heat under the floor tile, John worked that into the plan. The new closet is great (thank goodness he suggested expanding it), it?s bigger and now my husband and I can share the space. We went from one to two sinks. John and team did everything the correct way, no short cuts.
Description of Work: We had a flood in the bathroom. Got estimates from 3 companies. Chose John because of neighbor references and working with him was easy. Gutted the bathroom & closet. Removed walls and plumbing. Built new walls, redid ceiling, built new shower, tiled shower & floor, built new closet, installed lights, outlets & switches, installed new vent fan, new insulation. Installed vanity, sinks, faucets.
