Excellent service

The man from the sewer company who has been cleaning out the tree roots from our sewer line for the last 5 years, charges $60, guarantees his work and does an excellent job, but he was out of town. The water was backing up in the bathtub and toilet, so I called Roto-Rooter. They charged me $226.53 and never even came inside the house to check if the toilet and bathtub were draining properly. I told the workman that I was shocked by the price and that the most I had paid before was $60.00. He said that it cost more because it was a 2 man job and that he had given me a 10% discount, I will never call Roto-Rooter again.

Roto-Rooter is an enormous company. They contact their employees individually. What that means is that a person only gets paid based on how many calls he takes. I didn't realize this at first and had several creepy experiences where the person dispatched didn't listen to me, was rude, etc. Then I met TOBY. You have to ask directly for Toby to come out to your house. I recommend him highly. No BS. He gets the job done quickly. He explains the options, describes the possibilities of using a snake vs. going in through the roof vent, (always ask for the roof- it lasts longer in my experience), then he tests the washer three or four times. Presto. He's personable, honest, and doesn't make you feel like you're incompetent just because you can't fix your own clogged lines.

Water was backing up into the lowest tub and shower in the house. We suspected a clogged main drain line and tried drain opener but it didn't work. Checked reports on Angie's list and saw that Roto-Rooter got good ratings. Submitted an online request for service about 8 am. They responded right away by e-mail giving us an appt for 9-12 that morning. Truck came about 9 am, very promptly and punctually, serviceman very professional, rooted out the drain in about an hour. Showed us the tree roots from the drain line, and treated line with copper sulfate to kill roots. Service very satisfactory. I thought the price of $180 for an hour's work was about twice what it should have been.

THIS WAS A SITUATION WHERE THEY COULD HAVE RIPPED SOMEONE OFF, BUT ALL THEY DID WAS CHARGE THE SERVICE CALL FEE.

The serviceman arrived on time and was pleasant and efficient. The work was done quickly and without any mess left behind. I have used them on other occasions and have not been disappointed. I would recommend them.

These folks were terrific to deal with. My fixtures and plumbing are 20 years old - the house originals. With a teenage daughter with very thick hair, the liquid drain cleaners were having no effect any longer. I knew it was time to call for help. As a single mom who works full-time, I was very appreciative when they offered to come in the evening. Little did I know that my job would take the entire evening for the great guy who showed up. Although it was mortifying when he pulled out an unbelievably huge hunk of hair from tub drain, both he and I were hopeful that getting rid of the hair would alleviate the need for snaking, which it did for the tub. The sink, however, was a different story--it needed to be snaked, and the plumbing was funky (of course), so he had to go get special tools, etc. But, he persevered, and finally finished about 9:30 or so - and still had a smile on his face! It's great to have reliable folks to help with mundane but important issues like plumbing
