Empire Yard Maintenance

My home is on a lot approximately one acre in Sandia Heights, the foothills of the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque. Empire Yard Maintenance sent two workers who showed up exactly at the promised time and went to work cleaning and pruning the entire lot. They trimmed bushes, trees and chamisa on the property, cleaned out the large planters and pruned small ornamental trees. They raked up all the clippings, cleaned the driveway and entire large front porch and filled the truck and trailer they brought with them. A third worker came later in the day to complete the 15 hours purchased on the Deal on Angie's List. They did a thorough job in cleaning and removing what they pruned and worked steadily throughout the day. The workers were professional and knowledgeable and I will be hiring them again.

Crew came, worked, and left. No guidance given on prep for the work or after the work was done. I had to ask on whether to water before the men left

I have used Empire Yard Maintenance several times and have referred friends and family. Prior to this experience, they were fantastic. However, this time they fell short. I bought (as I have before) one of their Angie's List deals. I almost always need more work done than what the deal covers and they usually get it done the same day. This time they did not. This is not that big of a deal, but I did tell David that I had AT LEAST 8 hours of work to be done. Because of this, I had to wait a couple of weeks so they could fit me on the schedule. The two man crew he sent worked for 4 hours and had to leave for another appointment. I called David to get them scheduled again and he scheduled them for the next day. Perfect. The same crew comes out. They tell me it will take 4 hours to finish, so I write them a check and leave. I return (well after the 4 hours) and the work is still not completed. Upon further inspection, the quality of the work is just not as good as in the past. Not to mention the Angie's deal isn't much of a deal if it takes 50% longer to do what used to take less time. I realize you can't always bowl strikes however, there are many options for yard cleanup companies. I will probably try Empire again in hopes that this is a one time event because they have been so good in the past.

It went a little fast. Did not have a big yard. Whole job probably took 15 minutes. Would have liked more fertilizer but did not complain. was not really impressed with the staff but they got the job done.

They arrived Saturday morning as scheduled and quickly Aerated and Fertilized front and back yards as presented in the deal.

Our experience with this company was less than stellar considering their ratings. The initial appointment was not kept, as David had it on his schedule for a different day, which may have been our mistake, or not... Further experience and reading other reviews leads me to believe it was likely his mistake. Finally we were able to schedule an estimate and David came out and looked at the job. He said it would take at least 4 hours to remove the rock, and offered his other Angie's Deal for just over $500 for 15 hours of labor. He said he would apply the deal already paid for to the rock hauling fee. The job was discussed, with the explanation that we were returning the yard to dirt to restart the landscaping. He assured us he could clear the yard of rocks and refuse, remove the gravel and fish pond, and haul it off in the 15 hour period. Additionally he was to find and cap off the electrical power to the fish pond area. David had written the address wrong on the work order, so the workmen were 30 minutes late due to getting lost. They did a good job on the work they did, but it was incomplete. David insisted that backfilling the hole from the pond was not part of the work order, and he refused to do anything that was not specifically written down on the estimate. My partner had to negotiate strongly it was unacceptable to disassemble the pond and leave a hole. We were unaware we had to specify that amount of detail. In exchange, we did not have them cap the electrical lines. The workmen apparently did not understand the work order, because they left mid morning to go purchase a 2nd wheelbarrow and lumber to use as a ramp to load the rock. They were unable to remove all the rock from the yard because they did not have enough room in the truck, so there is still rock to be removed, despite David's agreement to remove it all. Then when we went to pay for the work, we were told there would be a service fee if we wanted to use a credit card. That information is not disclosed anywhere on their website or here on Angie's List, so be aware. The workmen worked hard to make this right by their standards, and did good work, but David was not easy to deal with.

I purchased a deal for $89 for lawn maintainence. They did a good job. I have used them in the past and the work is always good.

Weather caused delays but both of us kept in contact and work was done under decent weather conditions.

The service turned out great. They accomplished everything we asked them in a timely manner. I would recommend them highly.

Boy, did we get our money's worth. These guys got everything done on my list and were finished in 1 hour 45 minutes. The only thing not accomplished was spraying weeds on our parkway area. I wanted Pet friendly weed spray and they didn't have it with them . If you hire them, call ahead and remind them to bring their pet and child safe spray. They were courteous and professional and tackled every project I asked them to. I would happily hire Empire again.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. They actually said that they might finish early but of course, I had paid for the time, so they could have spent a little more time on it but they did a good job so it was okay. I didn't pay any additional, which was great. I would have liked it if they were slightly more thorough but they did a decent job for the cost. They came ahead of time. I probably wouldn't use them again.

Empire Yard Maintenance is much more than a maintenance company. They rebuilt and raised a dry stream bed. Next, I wanted a rock design in an area that we had difficulty growing plants. I showed them a decorative door and they were able to transfer the general design into two areas with colored rock. It looks terrific! They also cleaned up after themselves very well. The guys are all hard working and I received a full hour of work for each hour paid. Empire Yard is a great company!

My experience was average. I would not hire them again. The technician was nice but he had to come out twice since they missed part of the yard. They cut the lawn way too short and it took a while for the grass to recover.

They were good to work with. My experience was awesome. They were on time for the appointment and they did exactly what I wanted done. There two people here doing the work. They seemed knowledgeable and they were quick on the job.

Performed good work and had helpful suggestions on tending landscaping trees and shrubs.

It went very well. We originally purchased a deal for fifteen hours of labor to be performed for roughly $500.00, with the intention of changing to our overall front landscaping. However, due to budget we decided to use this deal for a massive yard clean up and landscaping to be done to our front grass that did not fair well over the summer. The crew of three showed up when expected and hustled to complete the work. Job well done.

I understand they also do landscaping. They were professional. I would recommend them. They were prompt. Their prices are reasonable. They do a good job.

They did an excellent job! I reached them through Angie's List and was contacted almost immediately. They came on the day they were scheduled although a couple hours later than expected. They did the job, were friendly and courteous, and surprised me by how thorough they were in cleaning the property when they were done. David was very good to work with.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I love them. David is amazing. He is fabulous. He is prompt, punctual and always stays in touch. I can text him. He is reasonable. His prices are fabulous. He's great. I use him a lot now.

They were great and friendly. They were helpful and cleaned up afterwards.

It was good. David, the owner, was really nice. The workers, they weren’t quite as good but David made it right by it. We had so much clean up that it’s still isn’t done but they made a dent in it.

They did a great job of the area that was removed of weeds. Left a large spot around a tree full of weeds stating they thought were flowers. Not sure how that mistake could've been made. Other than that, they did a thorough job. No other comparison of prices, I suppose this was a fair price for the amount that needed to be done.
