Empire Yard Maintenance

Very professional workers. Shrubs were expertly trimmed to be same height, width. The men were working in the high winds, which was very difficult condition. They called in another crew to help finish up. I am extremely pleased with how it all looks.

It started off great. David was on time for the estimate and the follow up appointment to discuss final plans. We discussed what would be done (gravel, cobblestone, new timer, border around tree). The appointment was set up for the April 23rd, to be completed the 24th. David arrived on the 24th to install my new timer & to collect payment. This is where it started to go downhill. I asked him where the cobblestone was. "Oh s***, I forgot that, didn't I?" He said he would have the team come out either Monday or Tuesday afternoon of the following week to finish it. Monday passed. Tuesday passed. I emailed him (he said he prefers emails over calls) Wednesday to ask when it might get done. No response. I emailed him Thursday, told him I felt I'd been very patient through this, and that I would be submitting my review over the weekend. What do you know, it got done Friday. Though he was on time for appointments, I gave him a "C" for punctuality for not following through as promised. The "C" for professionalism is because, in my opinion, professionalism means NOT forgetting what you're supposed to do (write it down!), following through on promises made, and responding to emails sent. I also don't find "we're just so slammed" to be a good excuse for lack of professionalism. I should also mention that he emailed me to ask if we'd decided to do the timer & how much he quoted me (write it down!). He also told me the day he came for payment (I'm guessing to make up for forgetting the cobblestone?) that he probably had a piece of flagstone he would throw in so I could set a birdbath on it. Didn't happen. I wasn't able to afford everything I wanted to do to the yard, and I had EVERY intention of using Empire again to finish the job, but the lack of responsiveness has completely changed my mind. I will mention that I gave an "A" for price because they were the lowest estimate, and he didn't charge me anymore than the estimate.

They were on time and friendly. Did good job but did not tell the stopping point of how much they would haul and wanted to charge me $50.00 extra. We worked it out, but told them in the future, let customers know before you keep working.

It went well. They did what they said they were going to and didn’t try to up sell me a bunch of other things so I appreciated that.

They came to my back yard when I was not home. The Job was adequate but since they came when I was not home I probably will not use them.

2 gentlemen came out to do drip irrigation check-up/repair, but were not trained to do valve repair. Could not check irrigation, since no water was available. They called David, supervisor, he said could not be out there before 3 weeks. I said house was sold, in escrow, needed done sooner. David offered to give refund through Angies List, was understanding.

They were on time and worked very hard. They were able to accomplish what was requested. This was part of a Angie's List Big Deal and was worth the money spent.

I did not like some of the quality of the tree pruning. It was sloppily done. Asked them to clean leaves from under bushes and trees and only did some, not all.

Very dependable and efficient. Would recommend to anyone.

They came once and the weather was bad so they wanted to reschedule. The rescheduling took a little longer than anticipated.

The service turned out very well. They were done within half an hour, and they did the job that was required. They are very efficient.

I had lots of leaves to be cleaned up, and dead branches on shrubs/trees. The men did everything asked, and did an excellent cleanup of the debris.

Very prompt and professional.

The details included leveling the soil and preparing the ground for the colored gravel. The designer placed 4 large size flagstone to create a nice path each stone 20-30" apart. The gravel was placed around the area and between stones to create a nice look. The end result was a very clean look. Great job always.

I will finish the report when the job is finished. I cant tell until the job is done at the end of the month.

I would not have know that the men arrived as they went through the back yard gate without ringing the door bell to say they had arrived to work. I just happened to look out the window and saw two men . I went outside and to see what was going on and they went to work. It only took a few minutes and again, they left without saying anything. It appeared that they were in a big hurry to get the work done and move on to the next house. I would have appreciated the gentlemen to at least announce that they were there from Empire Yard Maintenance. I thought it was unprofessional.

They are always very punctual which I really appreciate. David always goes over the job with the people who will be doing the work. There was a slight problem with one of the men removing a tree that was not supposed to be removed. The two men were at lunch when I noticed the error. I called David, the owner, immediately and told him about the mistake. When the men returned from lunch David had already spoken to them. They were very apologetic. David had offered to buy and replace the tree but I decided I liked the way that area looked without the tree. He gave me a credit on the job cost to reflect what he would have paid to replace the tree. All in all, I am pleased with their work. Things are always clean when they leave. All debris and job materials are gone.

It took a couple of days until the provider contacted me and when he did he said he couldn't do the work until sometime in May. This is not acceptable. I found another contractor through a simple google search who is able to do the work within 2 days of my first making contact with him. His cost is about $50 more, but worth it considering the work he was willing to do.

As agreed in the deal, the crew arrived at the scheduled time and aerated our back lawn area and fertilized also. I also have scheduled them back for some tree and shrub pruning.

Everything was finished as scheduled and in a timely manner.

Everything was done as stated on coupon plus helped me get rid of few tumble weeds in the area.

The workers arrived, listened to my requests and went right to work. They did a nice job of cleaning up and hauled off the debris. They were professional. I would use the firm again. This was a special offer through Angie's List.

Work was done quickly and efficiently

I was out of town, so when contacted by the contractor I suggested a date after my return. The response was that they were booked that morning but might be able to be here late afternoon. I did not reply thinking I would deal with it when back in ABQ. They showed up to do the work at the time I had. Been told they could NOT come without any kind of notice, no phone call on the way, no email and no apology. Since the job was so small and outdoors, we let them do it but will not use again. I had other work I intended to ask about but did not because of the no notice.
